Saswad is located at 18°20′N 74°02′E / 18.33°N 74.03°E / 18.33; 74.03[1]. It has an average elevation of 769 metres (2522 feet).

As of 2001 India census[2], Saswad had a population of 26,689. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Saswad has an average literacy rate of 75%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 79%, and female literacy is 70%. In Saswad, 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.
