Burke and Wills society

More a copying from across the wikiverse than intentional. Is the current version better - and could you add any other categories. Jackiespeel (talk) 17:57, 9 February 2015 (UTC)

  • What are you talking about? There has never been an article called Burke and Wills society. Creating a one sentence article with no evidence of notability is article suicide just as "we" in the previous version was suicidal. Count yourself extremely lucky that I have given you User:Jackiespeel/sandbox. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 19:32, 9 February 2015 (UTC)

I meant the first redlink entry on List of historical societies - and otherwise would just have put a note/link on the Burke and Wills expedition page - which would solve 'the problem' in this case (and the detail removed from the sandbos). Given that 'most' of the articles for the above list are likely to be of the 'A (locality, state) based local history society. The website is (link here) what would the most suitable solution be? Should the list be simplified - eg square brackets removed until someone actually creates a viable article of a suitable length?

I am 'mostly harmless' - just tend to go for 'tweaks, improvements and starting things off' and some areas are best developed by two/several people working in tandem/multi-person bikes. Jackiespeel (talk) 23:12, 9 February 2015 (UTC)

If you could put a link to the society on the B&W expedition page and remove the sandbox page it should resolve the matter.

My comment on the list is 'know so' not 'suppose so' (having checked out a number of them): some might have 'founded in (date)' and similar added. 'If you think it useful' I could add the websites against the entries on the list and 'someone else' could format them. ('Division of labour and all that'). Jackiespeel (talk) 10:55, 10 February 2015 (UTC)

... In fact, 'being bold' I would say that for 'many' of the local history societies on the list having a sentence at the bottom of the Wikipedia page on the 'geographical area/locality mentioned' to the effect that 'The local history society is (name), (website here)' would suffice. Will now get on with other things :) Jackiespeel (talk) 11:04, 10 February 2015 (UTC)

  • I think you are proposing to add a note about the Burke and Wills Historical Society to the Burke and Wills expedition article together with an external link to their website. Fine - go and do it. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 21:37, 10 February 2015 (UTC)

Yes 'at some point.' 'Generally speaking' is my suggestion (adding links to local history society websites on the locality page) a viable option? — Jackiespeel (talk) 22:45, 10 February 2015 (UTC)

  • The wiki motto is be bold. For edits such as these, don't talk about them, do them. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 15:08, 11 February 2015 (UTC)

GCSE performance of Black African pupils

Deletion of File:GCSE performance of Black African pupils by language spoken at home.png. Hello. I'd just like to note that this was uploaded following my advice at WP:Copyright questions#Screenshot of a table from a journal article. I recommended using {{PD-USonly}} because such tables are clearly not copyrightable under US law, and contrary to Commons, Wikipedia does allow for exceptions regarding the copyright situation in the country of origin. We're currently discussing this at the noticeboard, so please feel free to chime in. Regards, De728631 (talk) 18:23, 9 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi. Would it be possible for you to address the points made above in the discussion that De728631 has linked to? Cordless Larry (talk) 22:17, 11 February 2015 (UTC)

Hello RHaworth, Just a heads-up: you deleted the article Ieeca but didn't close the AfD debate, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ieeca. Thank you, -- ceradon (talkcontribs) 02:05, 11 February 2015 (UTC)

  • If you check my contribs history, you will see a reasonable number of "speedy close" edits. However sometimes when I see a blatant candidate for speedy, I think "why on earth did anybody waste their time and ours starting an AfD - they can close it themselves". This was certainly one of those cases. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 15:08, 11 February 2015 (UTC)

Network component analysis

Hi, You deleted the page network component analysis that I created. I'm not sure how the text is a copyright violation -- The only portion of the text I lifted from the article is one half of one sentence -- which hardly qualifies as a copyright violation! — Tmfs10 (talk) 08:17, 11 February 2015 (UTC)

  • Please learn to link to articles. The real reasons for deletion were: lack of context; lack of lede and, above all, lack of independent evidence of notability. If you want your text, read this. If you re-submit, I suggest do so via AfC. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 15:08, 11 February 2015 (UTC)

I see -- I apologize for not linking correctly. The original paper was published in PNAS (a very high profile journal) and has 477 citations so I think that's pretty notable. I'll submit via AfC as you suggest. Could you send me the text? Thanks. Tmfs10 (talk) 05:14, 12 February 2015 (UTC)

  • Text emailed. the number of citations in an article counts for absolutely nothing here in Wikipedia. What we want to know is how many sources and especially non-academic ones have talked about the paper. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 19:36, 12 February 2015 (UTC)

Requiring non-academic sources for scientific writing seems too strict in my opinion and also doesn't seem to be the general policy in practice from what I understand? There are a large number of mathematical and scientific articles on wikipedia describing techniques not mentioned in the media. Nor would it make sense for non-academic sources to talk about them as in many cases they are widely used techniques but the details are not of interest to an audience not interested in the technical details. That doesn't mean wikipedia cannot and does not accomodate them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tmfs10 (talkcontribs)

Holsztynski

I wonder why you have deleted the article about Holsztynski. His contributions to both math (over 60 publications) are countless. %0 publications in impact factor journals I am not excessively handy with your editor. Pls reverse your decision since it is the honest thing to do. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eto5166 (talkcontribs) 22:59, 11 February 2015 (UTC)

  • You throw a lot of ill-formatted stuff at me which I do not need including shouting and naked URLs. But you fail to provide me with that which I do need, namely a link to the page I have deleted. The Barnstar of Diligence
Hey RHaworth! Thanks for deleting the Toby Byron page and it's associated talk page. I'm afraid I made a bit of a mess with the page and didn't realize I had to delete the page after moving the article back to draft space. Thanks again and give yourself a pat on the back for me! Speedy Deletion of OWASP LAPSE+

Hi RHaworth, on 2015-02-11 you implemented a speedy deletion of OWASP LAPSE+. The given reason for speedy deletion was not valid for software - section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Although there may be justification for a discussion on the worth of the article given that the software is out of date, I would argue that since there is no other static code analysis tool which is specifically dedicated to finding security problems in java EE this tool is worthy of note. Also, all other tools listed on the list of tools for static code analysis have at least some page expanding on them. I have been advised that I should ask you to reinstate the page. Thanks. Hanzalot (talk) 09:42, 12 February 2015 (UTC)

  • The fact that it is out of date may indicate that nobody is interested in it. Obviously an article devoid of independent references stands no chance of survival. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 19:36, 12 February 2015 (UTC)

That may be the case, but it doesn't change the fact that it was not applicable for speedy deletion. Your speedy deletion prevented any opportunity for a discussion of it's worth to be had. Lack of independent references are not a listed criteria in Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion. — Hanzalot (talk) 13:53, 13 February 2015 (UTC)

Why did you delete the page, Dauha Al Uloom International School? I gave even it's school's website and it is in Saudi Arabia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Deepakraj Deep at the XY Foundation (talkcontribs) 20:44, 12 February 2015 (UTC)

Naspers

Hi Roger. Why was the article on Naspers, the South African media house, deleted? It is clearly a notable subject and the stated reason (G12: Unambiguous copyright infringement of http://www.naspers.com/) is unclear and, to me at least, unsatisfactory. Surely it would have been better to simply change the text so it does not infringe any copyright or simply inform other editors, such as myself, who have edited it in the past to correct this? Simply deleting the article seems very cavalier to me. I request that the article be restored ASAP and reasons for its deletion be discussed.--Discott (talk) 08:58, 13 February 2015 (UTC)

  • An article that has been around for nine years deserves more than speedy. Restored. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 19:04, 13 February 2015 (UTC)

Thanks Roger. I am going to add it onto my list of articles to edit this weekend and resolve any issues I can with it.--Discott (talk) 21:03, 13 February 2015 (UTC)

Didn't mean to vandalize

Can you put the pages you deleted into my userspace? I was confused because I'm new here. I wasn't vandalizing. Don't bite the newbies. I was not deliberately trying to hurt the integrity of Wikipedia. Please undelete my pages, please. If you do, you will become an honorary Russian hamster!!!!!!! YoSoyUnHamster (talk) 23:50, 13 February 2015 (UTC)

The pages I'm talking about are Russian Hamster Cabal and all of its subpages. I'd like them back in my user space so that people can enjoy them. How is the Russian Hamster Cabal any different than the Penguin Cabal? Is the Penguin Cabal also vandalism? Then let's delete it! I am never doing "page move vandalism." So to be fair, please delete the penguin cabal page too because it is page move vandalism due to the fact that it is an animal cabal… or is it? — YoSoyUnHamster (talk) 00:24, 14 February 2015 (UTC)

  • Penguin Cabal is a good example - it was deleted and its creator is banned. Do you want to go the same way? At the moment you have done just 9 mainspace edits and 300 others which are mainly just messing about. If you want me to restore your pages, come back when 30% of your edits are useful ones. You may get an earlier restore via deletion review but I hope not. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 10:12, 14 February 2015 (UTC)

There was a penguin cabal page that was different. It was actually called something other than "Penguin Cabal." What do you mean, you hope not? Okay, I will start making useful edits. But if my edits outside my userspace keep getting deleted i'm leaving Wikipedia. I am not a vandal. Sorry for being a jerk. Goodbye. YoSoyUnHamster (talk) 23:52, 14 February 2015 (UTC)

  • "I hope not" simply means: "I hope that the deletion reviewers will tell you the same as me (but probably more gently): stop messing about and start doing useful edits". Other things for you to learn: read: if you had read the reply in this exchange you would know where the other Penguin Cabal is. Always create links: in the same Teahouse exchange when you said "I just made a page for it" you should have created it with a link (to make it easier for us to tag it for deletion!). — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 23:50, 15 February 2015 (UTC)

Okay, fine. I don't want my stuff to get deleted, but you know what? I don't care, because my physics teacher says that people shouldn't really care about this kind of stuff. Go ahead and do whatever you want. But I'm getting very close to giving up Wikipedia for Lent. YoSoyUnHamster (talk) 00:35, 18 February 2015 (UTC)

Misunderstanding

Hi! I placed an WP:U1 tag onto a page in my userspace (User:Vanjagenije/Userboxes). It was subsequently deleted by User:Jackmcbarn. After that, I moved a new version of the page to the same title. That is what I actually wanted. I wanted to delete the old version of the page, and move in a new one. I did not want the history to be kept. But, after all that, you deleted my new version of the page. I did not want the new version to be deleted. Could you undelete it? — Vanjagenije (talk) 12:02, 14 February 2015 (UTC)

  • If there was any misunderstanding mate, it was not at my end: at 2015-02-03 19:16:57‎ you unambiguously requested deletion of the stuff you had moved two days earlier. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 15:18, 14 February 2015 (UTC)

Sorry, please. It is my mistake. I used Twinkle to tag the redirect (User:Vanjagenije/Userboxes2) for deletion, but Twinkle followed the redirect and tagged the target page for deletion. I did not notice that. Sorry again and thanks a lot for you help. Vanjagenije (talk) 15:44, 14 February 2015 (UTC)

Jc Caylen

A case where a page has been created a few times by a possible sock puppet. So looking over the pages that link over to Jc Caylen I notice quite a few users with the name Emily have a talk page linked to it. Now I wouldn't think that it would be that odd given that Emily is a VERY common name, but it does seem possible that there could be a sockpuppet going on (I would do a report but dang there are tons of people linked to it!) QualityGate deleted

Hello, the reason behind the deletion of an article about QualityGate was marked as A7, No indication of importance (individuals, animals, organizations, web content, events). The article on given criteria states that "This criterion applies only to articles about web content and to articles about people, organizations, and individual animals themselves, not to articles about their books, albums, software, or other creative works.", so given that QualityGate is a software product, it does not meet the criteria. Is it possible to restore the article so that the list of tools for static code analysis article can be complete? — Rhino666 (talk) 11:56, 16 February 2015 (UTC)

  • OK, take it that the deletion reason was actually {{db-spam}}. An article totally devoid of independent references stands very little change of survival. What an amazing idea that the "list of" article might actually be complete at some stage - such a list is almost by definition always incomplete. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 15:45, 16 February 2015 (UTC)

Saudi support

The article Saudi support for Iraq during the Iran–Iraq War was proposed by me for deletion on 6 February. I'd never nominated/proposed something for deletion before other than my own draft of an article, which you previously deleted, so now that this article has been proposed for over 7 days, I believed an administrator was supposed to delete it but I wasn't sure if I had to let someone know or something. As a result, I'm just asking then if you would delete the article, as per the reasons given on the template on the article. If this is not how it works I'd be grateful if you'd tell me what to do. Thanks in advance, SamWilson989 (talk) 18:09, 16 February 2015 (UTC)

Do-ocracy

The article Do-ocracy has been deleted (once by you) and recreated as many as 5 times. Could you restore all deleted revisions, or at least the ones that are eligible? It being an eligible subject, I see that the 5 deletions could provide an example of how not to go about creating an article. SD0001 (talk) 18:39, 16 February 2015 (UTC)

Martín Hernández

Martin Hernandez - nominated for sound editing but since it is salted not sure what to do about that. (I am making a page right now for the guy he is nominated with but yeah it is a bit hard when there are pages linked to him, though he is usually credited with a accent in his name). — Wgolf (talk) 20:56, 16 February 2015 (UTC)

  • So create it at draft:Martín Hernández. If you can convince a draft reviewer that the guy actually exists and is notable then unsalting will be uncontroversial. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 23:52, 17 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi, Can I ask why this page was moved without any apparent discussion? — Nimbus (Cumulus nimbus floats by) 22:48, 17 February 2015 (UTC)

  • That article titles use the singular, is such a well established standard that no discussion was necessary. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 23:52, 17 February 2015 (UTC)

Have to disagree, can you link to that policy please? Nimbus (Cumulus nimbus floats by) 00:00, 18 February 2015 (UTC)

Articles that actually distinguish among multiple distinct instances of related items can be sensibly given a plural title.. Noting that WP:PLURAL is a guideline and not a policy. Flight control surfaces is an overview article written in summary style with main article links as is Rolls-Royce aircraft piston engines, the page move has introduced an unnatural title with article text (lead) that does not match it and also changed the scope (a flight control surface is just a moveable part of an aircraft and is reduced to a dictionary definition). Please move it back and propose the move at WT:AIR. Nimbus (Cumulus nimbus floats by) 00:37, 18 February 2015 (UTC)

You deleted this as no context. I got a private message about it on IRC after its first deletion and think you should be aware it's twice been created with copyvio; the creator's response to the second copyvio flag was to scythe off chunks of the article, leaving the contextless stump that apparently saw. I'm a bit puzzled as to what to do if it reappears; she may be notable. For the moment I think I'm going to give the creator some lessons and mention AfC to them. — Yngvadottir (talk) 17:52, 18 February 2015 (UTC)

I'd missed the genealogy, but before leaving my very long note to them I saw that the article on his wife had been carved off the draft, and the user name does give me pause. The terrible thing is though, both people may be notable and although WikiProject India has a search tool for English-language Indian newspapers, I don't feel capable of checking or of writing them up properly even if I find enough. This is what AfC was intended for, in short. — Yngvadottir (talk) 18:41, 18 February 2015 (UTC)

Urgent help needed on the article Kumhar

Respected User, A huge traffic of i.p. users is continuously tempering with the sourced contents of the page. Their intention is merely caste promotion to which they actually belong, and it can be well verified by their conversation on the talk page of this article. They are continuously adding the self opinion based, unsourced contents removing the sourced contents. The article is continuously being de-shaped. Immediate attention and needful action is needed to protect the page. Hallo there. The page I have created yesterday about the Jerusalem Biennale was deleted. Can you help me understand what changes should I do to make it legitimate? Thank you, Ram Ozeri — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ramio365 (talkcontribs) 08:37, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

  • The good news is: you do not need to make any changes. Simply have the decency to wait until someone with no COI thinks your event is notable and writes about it here. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 12:41, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for deleting their userpage. I also nominated for deletion on Commons the logo which they used -- commons:File:Adroit logo.png. —George8211 / T 10:51, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

La Maîtrise de Toulouse

Hello, You have deleted the page La Maîtrise de Toulouse (Conservatoire de Toulouse) on the basis that it uses copyright material. I am unclear as to why, since I stated on the Talk page that the materiel used, whilst based on materiel from another website, is my own and that I am awaiting a reply from "permissions" to my official request to use this material. Please therefore reinstate the page. Many thanks, Moulinie31 (talk) 11:15, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

  • Copyvio was just one of the reasons for deletion, naked URLs none of them being good references was another strong reason. Please read this about what I think of people who copy their own website and think they have created a Wikipedia article. In fact yours was not as bad as some similar cases I have seen. Even so, I suggest you do an extensive re-write and re-submit via AfC. The title should be draft:La Maîtrise de Toulouse there is absolutely no need for (Conservatoire de Toulouse) in the title. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 12:41, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

Thank you for your reply. I have read the link you gave with your views on people who copy from their own website as you asked. I did copy a chunk of the official biographical text about the Maîtrise de Toulouse, but this is not just from my website, but used for all the biographical presentations of the ensemble. (concert programmes etc.) A lot of care was taken to write good biographical detail and I don't think rewriting it in a different way as the basis for Wikipedia will make it better. Quite the opposite. However I did not simply copy and paste. I added links to other Wikipedia articles, and I added separate sections (discography...)to try and make it a proper Wikipedia entry.

As for your comment about naked URLs not being good references: Firstly, they are not all naked. There is a direct link to the Gramophone review of our CD. However, if the other magazines who have reviewed us do not keep all their content on line (they protect their print industry), then what can one do? As for the title you object to, Yes it does have to include '(Conservatoire de Toulouse)' to distinguish it from the two other Maîtrises in Toulouse. I hope all this proves my goodwill and intentions to improve the entry, and once again I ask you to reinstate it and I wil do all possible to improve it. Many thanks Moulinie31 (talk) 13:09, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

OK. Will you please reinstate this page now? — Moulinie31 (talk) 15:11, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

Talk about a WP:Speedy deletion. Instant! No chance to comment or protest? This was precipitate. 7&6=thirteen () 12:15, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

This wasn't vandalism. You've overstepped. This should not stand. 7&6=thirteen () 12:49, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

Interested editors need to know that there is a pending discussion of your untoward action. For those of you who wish to comment, request made to undelete here. If those interested in this stable article are not informed, then you get to do without bothering to talk about it with anyone. 7&6=thirteen () 12:58, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

  • Calm down! You are not even giving me time to reply. Precipitate? Nonsense - no less than 16 hours elapsed between the application of the speedy tag and deletion. You can call it precipitate when a new article gets deleted within five minutes of creation - and that happens often enough. My diary shows three beer festivals coming up in the next few weeks so I have a lot of sympathy for this subject. I was amazed at the list of brews in one state of the article - there is clearly an inverse proportionality: the smaller the brewery the more brews it produces. Interesting also, that they do their own malting. I believe UK brewers mostly leave that jobs to specialist maltsters. Unfortunately news of microbreweries, like the beers they produce, do not travel well and in the nine years of the article's existence no-one had added what I would consider decent references. Protesting the deletion on the article page or its talk page is simply non-standard and such protests will get deleted without question. I see you have made a request at requests for undeletion. You will probably be told that one of the subtleties of Wikipedia is that the request should have been at deletion review but it does not make much difference. One or the other is a necessary and sufficient way to get the deletion reviewed. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 13:13, 20 February 2015 (UTC)
Hi Roger. FYI, I've restored the article - it needed a serious trim, but the subject seems notable. I've put a link to some references on the talkpage and will have a go at sprucing it up a bit next week. Yunshui  13:16, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

They've won lots of awards in beer competitions, including gold medals at the World Beer Cup. At least three of their beers are being bottled and distributed regionally and are exceptional: Under the Kilt (Wee Heavy); Final Abolution; and Crown Jewels. This article has been here for 9 years, and you thought there was urgency in getting rid of it? 9 years; 16 hours? Hmmm. The brewery is also noteworthy for having developed proprietary processes that enable it to put out 75 beers (from time to time) out of a very small brewery, and this has been written about in printed media. 7&6=thirteen () 13:55, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

I invite you to Dragonmead so that we can share a pint. The Sir Williams ESB I really recommend. If you get here, I'll buy, then your mind will come around. Cheers! 7&6=thirteen () 20:39, 22 February 2015 (UTC)

Looking forward to it! Let me know when (preferably with some advance warning so that I can arrange my calendar accordingly. Ciao. 7&6=thirteen () 00:24, 23 February 2015 (UTC)

Superdiversity

Hello sir. You deleted the page I created, superdiversity. Fair enough, it was rather poor but I thought it was a start at least. I have tried again. Let me know if you are ok with the new version. — BrumEduResearch (talk) 13:57, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

N. Gopalaswami Ayyangar

Hello, I was notified that my sandbox page that I created yesterday was deleted user:Shyamw1/sandbox. I was trying to expand the article on N. Gopalaswami Ayyangar. Can you please provide me guidance on what I should do to add the information? Do I need to paraphrase the article from The Hindu? Should I write to them first and ask if I can use the article? Also, I have information on him from journal articles and other websites. How do I go about adding all of this stuff without copyright infringement? Your suggestions will be much appreciated. Thanks. Winnie — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shyamw1 (talkcontribs) 14:07, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

  • You do not need permission from The Hindu - they will not give it anyway. You should write the article from scratch entirely in your own words and create links to your sources. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 14:24, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

Coats of arms & image licensing...

Hi RHaworth: good to be back in touch & let me ask what is wrong with the General Wall y Devereux arms when it is already in the public domain, and has the Donald Adamson image you uploaded been properly formatted/tagged for Wiki? Many thanks & looking forward to hearing, M Mabelina (talk) 22:47, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

  • This page is pretty unambiguous that in the UK representations of coats of arms are not automatically public domain. We therefore need full source details for this image so that we may verify its copyright status. Why on earth do you ask about Donald Adamson 2013 06 25 025.jpg do you see anything wrong with the formatting (whatever that means!) or tagging? Incidentally if you want me to believe that AbofYorkCOA.jpg is your own work, you will replace it with a new version at least 256 pixels wide. And why is the image description only in French? As well as adding it in English, why not add it in Luganda in honour of the current incumbent. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 22:49, 21 February 2015 (UTC)

Natalia Iyudin

Hi RHaworth, On February 3rd you deleted the article for Natalia Iyudin citing copyright violations. That is incorrect. I wrote the Wikipedia article (it's been in review for over a month) and the one that was published in the meantime on a different website but with the same text. I believe this situation falls under the Wikipedia guidelines of "Non-criteria" that state "Copies that are not copyright violations. If content appears both here and somewhere else (possibly in modified form), consider the possibility that Wikipedia's is the original version and the other site copied from us. Alternatively, the same author may have written both versions, or the original may be free content." Therefore, Wikipedia's was the original version (that can be easily verified via timestamps on the edits vs. the publication date on the other website) and the same author wrote both articles (me). Can you restore the article please? I apologize if I created the article incorrectly. First time here. This is the link [[1]]. Thank you, -- dimatree1978

Speedy deletions

I must note that speedy deletion criteria G2 as well as G8 does not apply to user pages and user talk pages. Ruslik_Zero 16:08, 21 February 2015 (UTC)

I am sorry, it appears to have wrongly been created in the main space, so I undeleted it and moved to user space. Ruslik_Zero 16:17, 21 February 2015 (UTC)

I screwed up

Hi! Thanks for deleting Lucius Beebe Memorial Library/Temp. But I screwed up, I should have left an edit summary to say "but please don't delete the talk page". That (Talk:Lucius Beebe Memorial Library/Temp) was a rewrite by the author of Lucius Beebe Memorial Library, which is currently blanked for copyright reasons; he'd just created it at the wrong address, so I moved it (I don't have "without leaving a redirect" capability). Could I ask you to restore it to life? Sorry about this, many thanks for all you do. — Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 17:00, 21 February 2015 (UTC)

Undeletion request

Hi. Two years ago, you deleted Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in Brunei as an empty category. The category is no longer empty, so I'm requesting that you undelete it. Thank you. —Granger (talk · contribs) 14:31, 22 February 2015 (UTC)

Well, I don't know what the original creator put on the page, and I figured I might as well use what they wrote rather than invent it again from scratch. But if you don't want to undelete it for some reason, then I can ask at WP:REFUND or just make something up to put there. —Granger (talk · contribs) 20:21, 22 February 2015 (UTC)

Feedback from Hongcheng Guo

Hi, the file Stratigraphy of Yinggehai Basin was deleted, but actually I have got the approval from the original author to let me use it on wikipedia. I can provide the email screenshoot if you need. The file should be used in the wiki page that is my assignment of a class, so I appreciate your quick response. Thank you! Hongcheng Guo (talk) 20:44, 22 February 2015 (UTC)

  • Screenshot of an email! What a weird idea. Don't you know how to forward an email? If and only if, the image is available under {{cc-by-sa-4.0}} or compatible licence, upload it to the Commons and establish that you have permission as explained here. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 21:34, 22 February 2015 (UTC)
  • Did you read this message? What is the point of simply repeating your previous upload? Please reply. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 00:04, 23 February 2015 (UTC)

When I uploaded it first time, I didn't let you know that I got the author's permission, so that it is understandable that you delete the file. Thus I did it second time. I am not sure if the screenshot of an email is a weird idea, but this is not the purpose, actually a way. I can forward the email if you would like. Anyway, please tell me what I should do to make sure that I can upload that file. Hongcheng Guo (talk) 05:31, 23 February 2015 (UTC)

Hey I was looking through the pending drafts and I came across Draft:Risa Vetri Ferman, waiting to be accepted but the page is create protected. Un-deletion Request

The following page was deleted by you in spite of having enough references on the subject-

Wikipedia page of Saiyed Anwer Abbas

Saiyed Anwer Abbas is rather a well known historian in Lucknow (capital of India's largest state UP) - a city well known for its culture around the globe. His work has served as reference for many subsequent works. A Wikipedia page for him will certainly benefit the researchers around the world interested in the Awadhi heritage and wanting to reach a renowned authority on the same.

File:Rue Serpollet, 26.jpg

I'm certain File:Rue Serpollet, 26.jpg is not actually a copyvio but that http://www.madamasr.com/sites/default/files/photos/news/Charlie%20Hebdo.jpg was taken from Wikipedia. Sometimes you have to watch out for whether the "other" site got it later. Let me take a look.... WhisperToMe (talk) 20:57, 23 February 2015 (UTC)

The "modified" date of http://www.madamasr.com/sites/default/files/photos/news/Charlie%20Hebdo.jpg is "Wednesday, January 07, 2015 8:58:05 AM" and I don't think it appeared at that URL before that date. WhisperToMe (talk) 20:59, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
I'm not a Commons administrator but "Commons" was originally uploaded to the Commons but was deleted in Commons:Commons:Deletion requests/File:Rue Serpollet, 26.jpg - I'm certain the upload date of that file was several years ago. WhisperToMe (talk) 21:00, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
I took a look at the news articles. http://www.madamasr.com/news/al-azhar-calls-muslims-%E2%80%9Cignore%E2%80%9D-new-charlie-hebdo-edition credits the "Wikimedia Commons" as does http://www.madamasr.com/news/egypt-condemns-attack-french-satirical-magazine (dated to January 7) - The same picture is seen from this view too: http://www.madamasr.com/tags/charlie-hebdo - I'm certain Madamasr got it from Wikimedia and not the other way around WhisperToMe (talk) 21:06, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
Okay, found this: http://www.madamasr.com/file/charlie-hebdo-officeparisjpg - I think the file should be restored. WhisperToMe (talk) 21:37, 23 February 2015 (UTC)

Hey, so I was attempting to create a page for the new Revolution season, but I noticed that you had, fairly recently, Speedied it. I don't want to step on any toes, so I'm going to create it in the Draft:space first, but I wanted to know what, if any, pitfalls to avoid so knowing why you Speedied it would be nice. I saw it was an A3, so I assume there was little to know information, but with the club already playing preseason games, the schedule being announced, transfers in and out, I doubt this will be a problem. If you want to check out Draft:2015 New England Revolution season, you'll see the direction I'm taking. I'm sure the new page will pass A3, I just want to check with you, the deleting admin, before publishing. Achowat (talk) 03:03, 24 February 2015 (UTC)

I want to reinstate a page you deleted

Hi,

You deleted page http://en.wikipedia.org/Crispian_Winsor for reason A7. I thought the page was still under construction and did not realise it was a live page from the minute you start typing - it's very strange, on most websites you create pages offline then publish them once the final version is completed. You must have deleted it mere hours after I started work on it.

Can you please make the aforementioned page available again so I can continue writing it and prove that the person is eligible to have a Wikipedia page.

Regards
