Hello Shortride, I noticed that you merged the Momentive Performance Materials page to the Momentive page, can you do this for Momentive Specialty Chemicals too and/or let me know how to do it?

Thanks

LOULOU CANADA'S SHOPPING MAGAZINE[edit]

A tag has been placed on LOULOU CANADA'S SHOPPING MAGAZINE, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from an implausible typo.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you believe that there is a reason to keep the redirect, you can request that administrators wait a while before deleting it. To do this, affix the template hangon to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Blatant violation of WP:MOSTM[edit]

On Template:Time Warner, there was the completely documented code:

Wallpaper<!--"Wallpaper" per WP:MOSTM-->

Despite WP:MOSTM you have deleted the tag and reinserted[1] the prohibited trademark as:

Wallpaper*'

You can hardly claim any good faith for this violation and I can see from your talk page that you don't care for warnings so it's getting reported. 62.147.39.186 (talk) 19:02, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

50 largest US banks template[edit]

Hello. I wanted to let you know that I reverted some of the changes you made to . While many of your edits are a definite improvement (such as changing the Discover link from Discover Financial Services LLC to Discover Financial, moving CIT Group Incorporated to CIT Group, etc.), I reverted your bypassing of the redirect links for the foreign-owned banks. As per the linking convention described in the template itself, this template links to the highest level American company regardless of if that company is owned by a foreign bank. Since Taunus Corporation, Utrecht-America Holdings, and Barclays Group US are the top American bank holding companies, they are linked on the list rather than their foreign parents of Deutsche Bank, Rabobank, or Barclays. While these three links are currently redirects (tagged as having possibilities), they could well be expanded into full articles of their own some day, in much the same way that HSBC Bank USA is its own article separate from its parent corporation HSBC. Please let me know if you have any questions or issues. Thanks, — Kralizec! (talk) 05:03, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

KERO-TV[edit]

Don't know why you changed KERO-TV to just KERO? According to the FCC, it needs to be KERO-TV.--JoeCool950 (talk) 20:57, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

Per Wikipedia guidelines, articles for licensed US broadcast stations should use their FCC-issued call signs as the article name. There are certain technical exceptions when disambiguation between two primary identifications is required but KERO-TV must be at KERO-TV, even if there is not currently a KERO in the database. I have reversed the moves you made and updated the template you recently created accordingly. - Dravecky (talk) 21:39, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

MetaTV[edit]

'MetaTV" is not the same thing as 'TVWorks'. TVWorks was a joint venture, between Comcast and Cox, that purchased assets of MetaTV and assets from Liberate Technologies. A proper definition of TVWorks would refer to both MetaTV and Liberate entries. The redirection, therefore, is not a match. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jscarney7 (talkcontribs) 20:28, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

50 largest US banks template[edit]

Regarding , this is why I never bother doing this. Given the consolidation of that has been going on in the American banking sector over the past two or three decades, any institution that falls off the bottom of the list will reappear soon enough due to acquisitions and mergers at the top. — Kralizec! Speedy deletion nomination of Quercus (publisher)[edit]

Ambox warning pn.svg

A tag has been placed on Quercus (publisher) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies. Speedy deletion nomination of Gifts.com[edit]

Nuvola apps important.svg

You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Gifts.com, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be unambiguous advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add hangon on the top of Gifts.com and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from independent reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Largest employers[edit]

I've noticed that you've been adding this section to numerous cities' economy sections. However, I don't find it relevant to the economy of the cities themselves, not to mention that it's in the same table formatting in every article. It's similar to creating a table listing what criminals from Anaheim reside in what jail some tens or thousands of miles away; not exactly appropriate for an encyclopedia when you think about it. Grayshi talk my contribs 22:17, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

Well, I suppose it would be appropriate for major cities, such as the one you added to Detroit, but cities such as San Gabriel, California have too low a population or business count to accurately describe the economy. Grayshi talk my contribs 22:26, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

A similar situation occurs with your addition to Dixon, California, which also has too low a population to use this list to describe the economy. Additionally, the information is outdated. The second largest employer cited has closed its operation in this town. Farmground (talk) 11 December 2010 (UTC)

I noticed you added this section to Glenview, Cook County, Illinois, and the employers look correct, but the supporting link you added is for Walnut Creek, California. Can you correct the link? Kreome (talk) 02:50, 30 November 2010 (UTC)

Some tips to help you out![edit]

Hi Shortride, I thought I'd drop a few notes on your talk page with some help on writing articles :o)

First of all, it may be best for you to do a bit of reading, starting with the Wikipedia manual of style, which will give you a lot of information about how Wikipedia prefers its articles to be written. It's not as hard to follow as it might look; quite a bit of the information there probably won't be vital for you at first.

Second, I recommend you make a user sandbox - which is just an area you can use to practise in, and to make notes in, and to get things ready in. If you click this red link: user:Shortride/Sandbox, that will let you create that page (it gives you an edit window to start work in). Anything, anywhere, on the help and information pages which gives you an example, try it out in your sandbox until you're familiar with it.

For your article, the next thing you want to do is start collecting as much information as you can about it. Google searches (particularly in Books and Scholar) will be your best friend for this! Once you've found the information, the next most important thing is to start writing up each fact in your own words (very important, this), and make a note at the same time of exactly where that information came from. Build in the references as you go along; I'm going to copy in, down below this, a whole heap of help on doing references, which was produced by one of our best teachers (Chzz).

Here's another place that you'll find incredibly useful - citation templates which you can copy and paste into your sandbox, between tags; you just fill in the blanks from your sources into the template, and you'll end up with nicely formatted inline citations :o) It all helps. Remember to add a references section to your sandbox (make a new line, and put ==References== on it, and type reflist on the next line, so that you can see how your citations look as you do them. Remember to save your page often! You don't want to lose your work.

Hopefully this will give you a good start and make life easier for you.

One last thing to keep as a motto: "It's better to write one good, well-referenced, nicely-presented article than it is to create fifty unreferenced one-line stubs!" Pesky (talkstalk!) 18:00, 23 October 2011 (UTC)

How references work[edit]

Simple references[edit]

These require two parts;

a)
Chzz is 98 years old.

He likes tea.
b) A section called "References" with the special code "reflist";
References
reflist

(an existing article is likely to already have one of these sections)

To see the result of that, please look at user:chzz/demo/simpleref. Edit it, and check the code; perhaps make a test page of your own, such as user:Shortride/reftest and try it out.

Named references[edit]

Chzz was born in 1837.

Chzz lives in Footown.

Note that the second usage has a / (and no closing ref tag). This needs a reference section as above; please see user:chzz/demo/namedref to see the result.

Citation templates[edit]

You can put anything you like between , but using citation templates makes for a neat, consistent look;

Chzz has 37 Olympic medals. tabs, and you'll find a clickable link called Reflinks in your toolbox section of the page (probably in the left hand column). Then click that tool. It does all the rest of the work (provided that you remember to save the page! It doesn't work for everything (particularly often not for pdf documents), but for pretty much anything ending in "htm" or "html" (and with a title) it will do really, really well. Happy editing! Infoboxes[edit]

Hi, thanks for adding infoboxes to several articles on journals and magazines. For the latter, however, the "infobox magazine" is more appropriate than "infobox journal" (PRISM international, for example). Happy editing! --Guillaume2303 (talk) 10:43, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of ISuppli[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on ISuppli requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. MikeWazowski (talk) 16:11, 24 February 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Template:XYZnetworks[edit]

A tag has been placed on Template:XYZnetworks requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it must be substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>substituted</noinclude>).

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by visiting the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. J36miles (talk) 22:36, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

What the heck was that?[edit]

Why did you make this edit, redirecting a template to an article? That caused the article to be used instead of the template itself, so any other article using the template had that article placed inside of it. SilverserenC 09:06, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Hussmann[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Hussmann requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

Aberdeen Largest Employers[edit]

Hi, I was looking at the Aberdeen, SD page and noticed you edited the section for largest employers. I tried to verify the information with the source cited (ADC), but they said the numbers data do not exist (at least not through them). Is there another source where you found the numbers? I am trying to track down a list of the largest employers in the area. Thanks. Haidavai (talk) 20:39, 15 January 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of East Resources[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on East Resources requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content or organised event, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Bbb23 (talk) 02:35, 27 January 2014 (UTC)
