Wiki break

[edit]

breaks are good for health :-) Dont stare at your laptop/mobile for too long :D Come back fresh and keep some of the strong emotions aside. It helps! Best! Vikram Vincent 17:10, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Vincentvikram, thankyou for your support. I could not hold much long without any editing and came back as soon as possible as I can:). I also feels much relaxed now. I hope I can do much better from now on. Now lets argue against each other in some AFD's:) Kichu🐘 Need any help? 13:37, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
LOL thanks for the offer :-) Real life is way more exciting than the online world ;-) Vikram Vincent 13:40, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Welcome back, Kichu!!! Beccaynr (talk) 15:39, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you dear Beccaynr. I thought I would be gone for a long time, but just found that I am a person who need wikipedia more than it needs me!! I'm eagerly waiting to get involved with you in AFD's :). Kichu🐘 Need any help? 15:47, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I am glad that you are feeling better, and I think we will have to agree to disagree about how much Wikipedia needs you ;-) See you at AfD! Beccaynr (talk) 16:13, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'd say Wikipedia needs us ;-) so much cruft to clean up and so little time :D Vikram Vincent 13:13, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Definetely Vikram. So much amount of thrashes exist here (mainly some politicians and some educational institutions) and thats the main reason I came back so fast. I wanna make this encyclopedia neat and clean. I also reviwed a huge load of Wikiproject India related drafts submiitted at AFC, thus clearing the heavy backlog. Only a few them were moved into mainspace. Still some more articles exist there, which I am unable to review due to my less experience in some areas. It would be really great if somebody like you with some experience at AFD also joins the project. You have 90 percent success rate at AFD discussions whereas mine is 86. Im still wondering why you are not applying for the membership. Kichu🐘 Need any help? 14:24, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hahaha maybe I'm cherry-picking articles that are truly bad while you are working on more difficult ones. BTW I think both Shuchi and Sindhu pages should have closed with no-consensus. They were held to a benchmark that was above average. Plus, I like improving articles rather than simply deleting them. It is only if I find they are not salvageable that I nominate them for AFD. Vikram Vincent 15:16, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I was also slighly surprised about Sindhu Joy. I thought it would be relisted for more consensus. By the way I would love to hear a straight forward answer from you regarding my suggestion of you joining AFC :). Kichu🐘 Need any help? 15:21, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
BTW my indenting is based on my reply to your msg right at the top and not to Beccaynr. I'll consider AFC once my priority work list offline clears up. I'm working on some thinking skills related programmes and this was one such by-product https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Vincentvikram/Always_keep_context_in_mind_when_arguing_claims Vikram Vincent 15:39, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Vincentvikram, I had already read this essay written by you and hope that it will be published soon. It is pretty good actually and I wish you all the best. Regards. Kichu🐘 Need any help? 15:44, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hola! I had a look at your AFD stats where you are the nom and find it is around 74% https://afdstats.toolforge.org/afdstats.py?name=Kashmorwiki&max=&startdate=&altname=&nomsonly=true I hope you will reflect on the nominations. Sometimes we may have a notion of notability which may be above average which will lead to failure. Since you are helping with AFC I think some of the lessons may be important. Best! Vikram Vincent 14:46, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

First of all, thanks for the advice Vikram and you are very well right. But one thing is that out of that 26 percentage, all of them were on the edge of deletion. (If Im right, I had only made one utter mistake while nominating an article for AFD. I didnt noticed the subject was an MLA). Some of them didnt had consensus. As Im currently very active at AFC, I believe I have more experience now with our guidelines. Im learning things :). Thanks for your advice again. Regards Kichu🐘 Need any help? 15:05, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
BTW I see that your vote recorded on Surendran was keep :D I think you need to only highlight the specific phrase of Keep/delete/merge/redirect/userfy etc Vikram Vincent 15:07, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I dont know why that happened. I actually commented something like Cannot keep until new policy has been adopted. Hence delete. I should have also included Comment. My bad:) Kichu🐘 Need any help? 15:13, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I would have had a 100% if not for a wrongly placed highlighting. BTW if you want to improve quality do consider starting with the lowest levels first and then move upwards. If you start with the middle or above you will find it difficult to take others with you. Vikram Vincent 16:02, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
At least that wrong highlight improved your percentage ;-) Vikram Vincent 16:04, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Since you have already !voted, my argument is that the invocation of UAPA is not BLP1E as it is a long period which tends to get covered in the media. Also, the invocation of UAPA brings a notability in itself due to its contentious nature. VV 16:39, 9 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Vincentvikram, I think the subject comes under between WP:BIO1E and WP:BLP1E. Thats why voted as weak keep. By the way, I think you should open a new thread while opening a new discussion. Regards Kichu🐘 Need any help? 16:51, 9 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

In BIO1E, The general rule is to cover the event, not the person. However, if media coverage of both the event and the individual's role grow larger, separate articles may become justified. Both the anti-CAA protests and the person grew in coverage and hence the necessity.. So that was my rationale. I have my phd defense tonorrow. Need my sleep :-) Gnight. Vincentvikram, Im happy you are fine. I have lot of doubts regarding the guidlines after somebody is caught for SP. I hope you know that I was attacked by multiple socks. Leave that for now and my question is that does our policy says that if a person is caught for SP, is it like that they cannot create a new account for having a fresh start by declaring something like I was blocked once for SP. But I request wikicommunity to give me one more chance. Is it allowed? Because I never saw such things anywhere? I already got an answer from an admin regarding this and is still having this doubt in my mind. Because for some other kind of blocks, I have seen some users were given a second chance. Me itself has requested Oshwah for remove the block of one user called Aarya. Coming to the case of the sock who attacked me, they dont deserve a chance at all. They were blocked like infinite number of times. Pinging Oshwah for a clarification. Hope he doesnt miss this:) Kichu🐘 Need any help? 16:18, 15 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

That editor is re-adding so much of cruft that was already challenged in the AFD. I wonder if that article has to be deleted and WP:SALTED. VV 14:40, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Vincentvikram, lets see how much extent they will go. If I have to decline this again, we can go for a miscellany for deletion. Please update me on this draft. There are so many on my watchlist and I might miss this. Kichu🐘 Need any help? 14:49, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I think AFC has an option for speedy delete and salt(for repeated problematic creations)if not notable. MFD is not required for draft post AFD. VV 19:00, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

But Vincentvikram, Im not sure what criteria we will bring it here for CSD. This is not wholly promotional and some sources are there. Do you have anthing in mind Kichu🐘 Need any help? 19:03, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The same sources were used. Have a look. Even the NDTV link added from today makes a one line passing mention. VV 19:05, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

What about the Hindi sources. Did you went through that also? Kichu🐘 Need any help? 19:07, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You are right. I just looked at AFC flowchart. Only a decline is possible at this stage. VV 19:08, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
yup. I did a quick.scan through the Hindi sources. wp:three would apply at the least. VV 19:09, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Vincentvikram, as of now, the draft has been not submitted again. If submitted again in the presens state, I will reject it and may be we can nominate it for MMD. But the problem is, I have no past experience in MMD. Kichu🐘 Need any help? 19:11, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Vincentvikram, how did you find the sources exactly. My WP:Before only gave me sources related to Mirzapur. Somthing related to Indian premier league also showed up. Should I improve my WP:Before.? Kichu🐘 Need any help? 15:35, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I used Duckduckgo :D never google :-) Different search engines give different results. Will be good if you can change reconsider your vote based on these sources :-) VV 15:38, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Vincentvikram, will do as per WP:HEY. And I hope google wont disappoint me next time. Can you do me a favour. Please see the last thread on my talk page titled non Admin closure. I have provided a list of discussions I had closed. Need your feedback on it. Regards. Kichu🐘 Need any help? 15:41, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I quixkly scanned through it. Yes, technically you can do non-admin closures per procedure. I havent looked at specifics but would err on the side of caution considering that it is possible to make mistakes. VV 15:59, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Vincentvikram, you are right. But I want you to tell me one thing seriously. Please tell me your opinion by keeping aside our friendly chats. Do you think I dont have any experience or reputation here to close AFD's. Please tell it frankly whatever it is. Kichu🐘 Need any help? 16:16, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Kichu, I scanned through a few and felt they were fine. I would suggest spending some time at the deletion review to get an idea of what points come up so that you can account for them when doing a non-admin closure. Best! VV 05:39, 1 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

About non-notable AFC acceptance

[edit]

Hey Kichu, I think you misinterpreted my question. I usually leave the article and move on if I see it is accepted through AFC. Hence, the intent of my question was to know if we should not do that and still keep the notability lens on while reading AFC accepted articles also. I noticed it is AFC accepted only after I nominated it. However, I did find another article by the same user who accepted this questionable and I have nominated that too Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jyoti Arora. Drop your thoughts if you would find time. Also, I noticed you are from Kerala. I was just there and it's incredible! I envy you! Nomadicghumakkad (talk) 02:50, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Nomadicghumakkad, the actual aimm of AFC process is to help the editors make sure that the chance of their article getting deleted later is very less. An article accepted through AFC doesn't give you 100 percent guarantee that it wont get deleted ever. So my advice to you is that, when you end up with an article, where its notability is questioned and has gone through AFC process, contact the reviewer first. Because we exactly might dont know why they accepted it. There are like different criterias for a subject to become notable. Some of them might not be familiar for us. But the article where I voted as delete, I believe it fails completely fails GNG. I hope you understood what I said. Please let me know if you are clear. And Im also glad you are also a Mallu:). Kichu🐘 Need any help? 03:20, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Gotcha! I should have contacted the reviewer first then. That makes sense and I am clear. AND, I am not a Mallu! I was visiting (please don't kill me for moving around during pandemic but Kerala had been on my list for too long). But I absolutely love Mallus! Had a lot of healthy discussion on democratic communism with friends there. Nomadicghumakkad (talk) 03:24, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nomadicghumakkad, we dont know when this corona **** is going to end. So please stay safe, wear mask and I wish a good health for your family. By the way, are you an Indian right? Kichu🐘 Need any help? 03:28, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your wishes Kichu. Yes, I am an Indian and actively participating in India related topics. But also trying to expand my engagement beyond India. Nomadicghumakkad (talk) 03:30, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Keep contributing Nomadicghumakkad. Try to participate more in AFD discussions to get experience on AFD discussions so that you will have more than enough basic knowledge about our notability guidelines. After that, I would love you to see becoming an AFC reviewer. Because we have a plenty of backlog there and that area needs people like you. Regards. Kichu🐘 Need any help? 03:35, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, how are you? Enjoying the amazing landscapes of Kerala that you are gifted to enjoy whenever you open your eyes!! I popped in to say that I decided to take the plunge and applied to help with AFC backlog! Wish me luck! Nomadicghumakkad (talk) 12:26, 23 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nomadicghumakkad, Im extremely sorry. I missed this somehow. I dont know what happened. There were plenty of AFC help requests on my talk page. So I missed your message somehow. Coming to your question, Im currently not unable to enjoy the landscapes here. Since I dont have any need to go outside as of now, Im staying at home all day. I should have joined a ship if this pandemic had not happened. At the same time, I would not have been replying you here, if this pandemic had not happened. Because I started editing out of boredom. See.. thats how life works! If you need any help or suggestions from my side to become an AFC reviewer, just ask me and please dont hesitate. And finally, be safe and dont get Covid.! Wishing you and your family to stay safe. Kichu🐘 Need any help? 12:41, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, Kichu🐘 Saw it now! Being a marine engineer is a VERY lucrative job. Congratulations in advance whenever you would get there and travel the world for free! Also being on ship means far away from land for long periods! Looks like the land isn't ready to let you go and universe is just holding on to you! I don't want to get all preachy, but all that happens, have some sense and merit - only if we have enough patience and courage to look that way! I am awaiting the evaluation and feedback on my request; once that happens, I am certain I will trouble you a lot! Stay well, sending lots of positive thoughts and energy! Nomadicghumakkad (talk) 15:41, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank a lot Nomadicghumakkad for the inspiration. Looking forward for it. I also hope you wont be leaving this project soon. Stay here, contribute to it. We have got an encyclopedia to build. And Im happy to get disturbed:). I will defineltly help you in tge areas I know. I hope you might have known by now that my area of expertise is AFD and AFC. Kichu🐘 Need any help? 15:47, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I am aware. I keep following your participation in AFDs and also note the accepted and rejected drafts by you (healthy stalking!). While we are at it, what do you think about Ganga Bharani Vasudevan. I have been at fence to nominate it for AFD. Didn't do so more because it was created by the user whose AFC accepted article I had nominated (from where this current thread had started). I had nominated one more of their article which is still under discussion and then when I thought I would speedy Ganga Bharani Vasudevan, it appeared to me that this was also created by him. I took the speedy back since it made it look like I was purposely doing it! But, I am still not fully certain on notability here. What are your thoughts? You can see our discussion here [2] Nomadicghumakkad (talk) 15:56, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nomadicghumakkad, I saw the whole discussion between you two and also analysed the sources. I almost have the same opinion as Dial. But I am actually confused here. You can see that I generally dont participate in AFD's where the subject is an author. Because WP:NAUTHOR always creates some confusions in my mind. In all such scenarios, I seek the help of Beccaynr who is really an expert in this area. So I also recommend you to seek his help when you comes up with such articles. Because I might not be able to assist you in this case. Dont take this as an advice, but my greatest tip for you to become a good AFC reviewer is that you should accept only the articles which have a greater chance of survival at AFD. I wont say its 50-50. But its upto you. And if someone questions about your acceptance in future, you should have a proper explanation to show the community about your acceptance. Because paid editing for promotion is one of the creepiest thing in this project. And we AFC reviewers will come under suspicion for it,even if we make a silly unfortunate mistake, especially if it is about some companies or business persons. So be careful and only accept those like I said before. Believe me, AFC is the best part in wikipedia. It will teach you more about our notability guidelines everyday. I wish you all the best. Regards. Kichu🐘 Need any help? 16:29, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hello! I don't feel that I can call myself an expert, but I am in the process of reviewing the article, keeping in mind that WP:BASIC notability can exist even if WP:AUTHOR notability is not strictly met. I also think the point in the previous discussion about the Indo-Asian News Service (IANS) is helpful for revisions to the article. also, my preferred pronouns are 'her' or 'their' :) Beccaynr (talk) 16:45, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, thanks for your view and tagging Beccaynr. We have been in fact having a very enlightening debate on another author AFD and I absolutely adore his patience and civility! I am likely to be developing more expertise on Authors since I am familiar with the publishing industry. Thanks for your helpful tips on AFC acceptance! Hoping to learn lot more! Nomadicghumakkad (talk) 16:35, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nomadicghumakkad, Beccaynr is one of the best wikipedian Ive ever seen. May be the best. I always wonder how much time they are spending to rescue an article which they might not be having any idea at all. Despite we oppose in several AFD's we always share a mutual respect and love. I believe this gesture should be followed by every editors. Because I have seen in discussion where editors engage in war and take everything personally. For such guys, Beccaynr is a role model. Kichu🐘 Need any help? 16:42, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I added my comment above without seeing these, my apologies for the out-of-order placement. But thank you both so much for saying so - I think we are all operating with our good faith interpretations of the policies and guidelines, and learning together, and I very much appreciate the mutual respect and focus on the articles, policies and guidelines. I feel it makes Wikipedia an enjoyable place to work and continue learning, so thank you very, very much. Beccaynr (talk) 16:52, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Extremely sorry for assuming your pronouns! I feel ashamed truly :( Nomadicghumakkad (talk) 09:39, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nomadicghumakkad, thank you for your apology, but please do not feel ashamed on my account, because I am not offended - while I like to use the Singular they, it is still emerging as accepted use, and I have not yet made my preferred pronouns clear on my User page. In the meantime, I have reviewed and revised Ganga Bharani Vasudevan, and I think the case for WP:CREATIVE/WP:AUTHOR notability as a 'blogger-turned-writer' is weak to nonexistent under the guideline, because she does not appear to have originated the concept, nor to have her works primarily covered by reviews or periodical articles. However, based on the sources in the article and sources that are not in the article but are listed in the 'Press & Media' section of her blog, it appears that she has WP:BASIC notability as a 'blogger-turned-writer,' due to the amount of coverage in multiple independent and reliable sources, and it is this 2016/updated in 2017 article in The Hindu that seems to truly help weigh in favor of her notability, because it is in-depth, focused on her, and helps show the coverage has been sustained over time. Because notability is WP:NOTTEMPORARY, it seems that even though the article is small, it could be enough to justify keeping, although it would be helpful to incorporate more sources, including the ones referenced on her blog. One of my challenges as a researcher is that I do not have easy access to non-English sources, so I am not able to conduct a full search of articles that may exist. So overall, I think a case for WP:BASIC notability can be made, but additional sources should be incorporated, starting with the ones referenced on her blog and additional sources that may exist in other languages. Please let me know if you have any thoughts or questions about my review. Thank you again, :) Beccaynr (talk) 15:21, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Hey! Kichu! I am on probation!! Thank you so much for your encouragement. Also, I can see a list of pages that are awaiting review here [3]. But I don't see how to accept/decline/comment. Does that happen later or something. And there is so much to read! Overwhelming! But will get through it. Nomadicghumakkad (talk) 15:21, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nomadicghumakkad, Congratulations! Beccaynr (talk) 15:23, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nomadicghumakkad, congratualtions on being my colleague. About the problem you facinf, did you install the AFC script? You need to install this first to make things easy. Please read the full instructions and let me know if you have any doubts. I took almost a day to learn the basics. Hope you catch it easily Kichu🐘 Need any help? 15:27, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

And Nomadicghumakkad, the link you gave me here is actually recently created articles. I think you had misunderstood AFC and NPP. Am I correct? See, this[4] is the actual list of drafts waiting to get reviewed.Kichu🐘 Need any help? 15:30, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Kichu, I used a filter on the link I shared to see submitted drafts and it seemed to work. What you have shared seems easier and direct. Okay, will figure AFC script and move on from there! Nomadicghumakkad (talk) 15:40, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Beccaynr : Thank you!!! Allow me some time to respond to you! Nomadicghumakkad (talk) 15:40, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nomadicghumakkad, are you clear about the difference between AFC and NPP. Because I earlier thought both were same. But its not like that. You dont need to have NPP rights to become an AFC reviewer and vice versa. But you should have experience at AFC to become get NPP rights. Now you are on probation, be aware and take your time to review articles. As you progress, you will just need seconds to review some articles. In my case, I almost took more than 10 minutes to review a draft. But now I have reviewed more than 600 drafts and I find it quite easy to review some of them. Even though, some drafrs are there where we will get confused. In that case, dont be ashamed to ask the help of other reviewers. Actually your helper dont need to be a reviewer. You can see that I always seek help from Beccaynr and Im happy I have got her. I believe that nobody is perfect here. Everybody has their own weakspots. So use your rights effectively to build this encyclopedia and I wish you to be a good AFC reviewer. And I would like to add one more thing here. Always be helpful towards others, especially newcomers. Some of their intention might be only to write an article for promotional purpose. In that cases, deal with them wisely. There might come situations where you will get attacked, personally or using legal threats. As of now, I was attacked multiple times, which includes legal threats. In that case, we must be patient and should not act out of frustration. So thats all and I think I made this into boring speech:) Kichu🐘 Need any help? 17:07, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Kashmorwiki,

Thank you for reviewing the wiki draft article on Mandayam Anandampillai Sampathkumaran.

You have highlighted copyright ownership of a picture that is not used in the article. Could you please review again and approve?

Hello Ramski2021, you are mistaken. I havent delivered any such message to you. Infact, I have never dealed with any image related issues here. It was delivered by a bot. See [5]. I declined the draft because it does not meet criteria of inline citations. Hope you got the point. Please let me know if you have any more concerns. Hi Kashmorwiki,

Thank you for your reply. It was my mistake on the copyright. I saw your review comment on inline citation. I hope you can provide me with guidance using specific example so I can remediate the action. I believe, I have provided good references throughout the article as required by Wikipedia and examples I have seen on Wikipedia. So a bit confused on your comment.

Hey Ramski2021, you must provide citations withon the sentences rather than providing everything together. For example, if the sentence gives an important info like He was appointed as this on this day, you should provide the citation for that. Give citation on all the major details and your draft might get accepted. Good luck and let me know if you have any concerns. Regards. Kichu🐘 Need any help? 08:52, 24 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Kashmorwiki I have provided all publicly available references in the article. Note that Dr M A Sampathkumaran belonged to a period that is 100 years ago (hence centenary celebration in 2019 at Bangalore University) of his department. So public references were not a common place in those days unlike now.

Can you please review the latest document and approve it.

I am bringing to your attention a few Wikipedia articles that have way below content, references and material, which have been approved and live.

Thank you for your guidance. I have been able to source a number of references and have cited them. As the subject Dr. M.A. Sampathkumaran was around over 100 years ago, rare to find website or publication links, which you may usually see in the recent biographies. Thanks to Univ of Chicago, Univ of Bangalore, Univ of Mysore and a few newspaper articles we are able to source a few references relating to the subject. Please note the context while reviewing the submission. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ramski2021 (talkcontribs) 00:40, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Ramski2021, the problem is that, there is not even a single source giving atleast any coverage to him. If something like that were present, I would have given a try after ignoring all rules. My first thought is that WP:NPROF applies, and failure to meet either the general notability guideline or other subject-specific notability guidelines is irrelevant if an academic is notable under this guideline. I need to sleep before I review the article and the sources further, but I think with some revisions, it may be possible to meet this guideline, including because he founded an academic department and there is an award named after him. Beccaynr (talk) 05:15, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yes Beccaynr. Let me know about this. But if we are approving this, I think we need to remove the unsourced portions from the draft before accepting Regards Kichu🐘 Need any help? 06:12, 26 April 2021 (UTC) Hey Kashmorwiki, I have 13 publicly available references of Dr. M.A. Sampathkumaran now included in the article. So I do not understand your statement "the problem is that, there is not even a single source giving atleast any coverage to him."[reply]

Hey Beccaynr- I am mildly surprised by your statement "My first thought is that WP:NPROF applies, and failure to meet either the general notability guideline or other subject-specific notability guidelines is irrelevant if an academic is notable under this guideline." For someone from his background to achieve what he has over a 100 years ago including getting a PhD from the University of Chicago, Member of Sigma Society, Office Bearer of Indian Botanical Society, Founder of Botany Discipline at the Central College @ Mysore University, Elected Member of Academic Council, having an award in his name for Master's graduates in Mysore University still valid after 100 years and having his family felicitated during the Centenary of Botany Department by the current University in recognition of his outstanding work. All these over 100 years ago. Despite the time period there are so many web references of him still available is just a miracle, in my opinion. That shows the quality of the gentleman.

There are numerous published Wikipedia pages of people who have not achieved a fraction.

I respectfully fail to understand the logic of delaying publishing this great man's bio.

Hopefully this gives you a good context to help in your review. Thank you. --Ramski2021 (talk) 06:35, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Ramski2021, I apologize that my comment may sound as if I am dismissing many of his achievements, but I was quickly speaking in terms of Wikipedia guidelines and procedures, and what appears to be most relevant based on my first review. I am not an AFC reviewer, but I am studying to apply to become one, and the WP:AFCPURPOSE is to identify which submissions will be deleted and which won't. Articles that will probably survive a listing at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion should be accepted. At the Articles for Deletion (AFD) discussions, the Wikipedia policies and guidelines are reviewed, which for this article, seems to be both a benefit and a challenge. I say it is a benefit, including because the WP:NPROF guideline states, Once the passage of one or more notability criteria has been verified through independent sources, or through the reliable sources listed explicitly for this purpose in the specific criteria notes, non-independent sources, such as official institutional and professional sources, are widely accepted as reliable sourcing for routine, uncontroversial details. (and this appears to potentially exist, e.g. Bangalore Mirror 2018). It can also be a challenge, because this specific category of AFD discussion can have some of the most detailed and specific discussions, with some very experienced participants. However, another benefit is that the WP:NPROF guideline states it is sometimes summed up as an "Average Professor Test": When judged against the average impact of a researcher in a given field, does this researcher stand out as clearly more notable or more accomplished? so this is my starting point for reviewing the article. I hope this helps clarify my comment, and please let me know if you have further questions in the meantime. I will do my best to review this article as quickly as possible, and I agree with Kichu that unsourced material in the article should either have sources added or be removed. Thank you, Beccaynr (talk) 16:36, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Ramski2021, I have worked on the article as a way to assess the information and sources, and found a source for another achievement that I added to the article. Another editor has added "citation needed" tags to some of the unsourced content. I reviewed the Biographies of Living Persons policy, and it says, in part, Contentious material about living persons (or, in some cases, recently deceased) that is unsourced or poorly sourced—whether the material is negative, positive, neutral, or just questionable—should be removed immediately and without waiting for discussion, which helps explain why another editor deleted some unsourced content in a "Controversies" section. There is also the policy of no original research that includes in a footnote, Articles that currently name zero references of any type may be fully compliant with this policy—so long as there is a reasonable expectation that every bit of material is supported by a published, reliable source. Based on his accomplishments, I am tending to think it is reasonable to expect that an obituary was published by a reliable source, and that would be very helpful for supporting some of the text in this article - it would be best to find it, if possible. Overall, I am unsure about whether this article meets the WP:NPROF guideline; from my view, it seems possible that his election to the Indian Academy of Sciences and the Indian Botanical Society is sufficient for criteria 3, and it appears that his notability under criteria 1 is supported by the award in his name; for the general criteria of "The Average Professor Test," I find it compelling that he established the department and there are two independent and reliable sources recognizing that, in addition to the primary source from his department - from my view, average professors do not typically create academic departments. However, I have fixed the citation issues and hopefully this will make it easier for the next reviewer. In the meantime, please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you, Beccaynr (talk) 05:25, 27 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi There,

We got to know that you have reviewed and rejected our article on PIL Italica Lifestyle Ltd. We graciously accept your decision and believe that you must have rejected it for an appropriate reason. For now, the only error that we see in our account is that the information that we have provided cannot be verified by credible sources. Since we are doing this for the first time, we're finding it a little difficult to pinpoint which exact piece of information is not verifiable. It would be great if you could help us out in identifying the errors so that we can fix them on the spot. here's the link of the submission - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Italica_Lifestyle

Your help in this regard would be highly appreciated.

Hello 122.170.6.81. None of the sources in the draft is sufficient to pass GNG. There is no significant coverage at all. I hope you are aware about WP:GNG. This[6] source is just a stocl analysing tool. This [7] is also a stock prize listing. And this[8] is also something like that. So, most of the sources are just like listing of stock prizes, company shares and profits and the details about company personnel. So we cannot accept your draft in the present form. Please provide atleast three reliable sources giving enough significant coverage to the company and let me know whem it done. Please also let me know if you are having any concerns regarding our notability guidelines. And I have one thing to ask you. You said we are doing this in several times, meaning you are not alone in this. Can I know whether you are getting paid for this? If so, you should declare it. Regards Kichu🐘 Need any help? 06:41, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@kichu - so what should we do now? Do we just strip down the article of all the info that cannot be verified and then resubmit ?

Profile of Sreedhar Bevara

[edit]

Dear Sir, appreciate your passionate contributions to Wikipedia.

Your comments while rejecting the profile of Sreedhar Bevara suggested lack of basic research. Contrary to your comments such as ‘passing references’ about him, his inspiring story, his books and leadership contributions - these were specially covered by national media such as The Hindu, Times of India, Indian Express, Sunday Guardian and several top vernacular/Telugu papers along with electronic media.

His dramatic story from being a poor street vending boy to current position along with being a published author (his latest book ‘The Roaring lambs’ being national bestseller in non-fiction (according Nielsen), published by the legendary publishers ‘HarperCollins’) - his continuous contributions to motivate especially young leaders of IIMs and IITs standard are widely appreciated and known well in the public/social media.

Your comments unfortunately haven’t matched the reality, nor you spoke about any improvement in the article. Experienced sensible editors like you I’m sure can help should something lack and hope you can reconsider/guide.219.91.202.1 (talk) 12:43, 27 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Sreedhar_Bevara123.201.208.170 (talk) 04:38, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

123.201.208.170, the source from Hindu is not giving him enough significant coverage. Times of India is considered between reliable and unreliable as it has the past history of paid editing. This source [9] from Indian express and this [10] from HC seems good. But since this is a BLP who must satisfy general GNG criteria, I cannot accept this draft with only these two sources. Some sources are there which talks about his books. So may be, his notability can be established using NAUTHOR. But their are also some unreliable sources and dead links. Moreover, sources like this [11] are not actually needed here. They are making only mere mentions. You only need to provide the best sources inorder to avoid the impression of REFBOMBING. Reviewers usually have the tendancy to decline the draft with REFBOMBING. Make these changes and your article may pass. Please let me know if you have any more concerns and you dont need to call me as sir. Regards Kichu🐘 Need any help? 05:00, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much sir for the kind comments and guidance. 1. Article in The Hindu is in main edition and directly about him being chosen as think-tank to a state political party. The article also talks about his book, his inspiring story being a tea boy and current leadership roles. 2. Few more full-articles in fact are missing from the list such as Gulf Today (one of the top daily’s of UAE), Dubai Eye 103.8 (number 1 business radio channel in Dubai) & India Currents magazine etc., shall be added. 3. Sreedhar Bevara also writes on leadership in Forbes magazine and the author profile link will be added in addition to adding his Author profile in Amazon. 4. Removing few links even though they are good reviews on his books or about him (since they’re not top line media) 5. Dead links are being eliminated/corrected

Kindly suggest, should we shift his profile to Author segment or can we keep it as is? Your comments on the above are helpful to redo it123.201.171.29 (talk) 12:53, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

123.201.171.29, I think its better to shift this article into a BLP of an author. Most of the sources are talking about his book. And I have to ping Beccaynr again. Because this author type of articles doesnt seems like suit to me. Beccaynr, I hope you are fine here also:) Kichu🐘 Need any help? 14:46, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, 123.201.171.29, on my first review, I noticed there are two articles by the same author, with the same content: 1, 2, and when I went to the original source: 3 and clicked on the "Agencies" link in the byline, it says, All articles published here are Syndicated/Partnered/Sponsored feed, LatestLY Staff may not have modified or edited the content body. The views and facts appearing in the articles do not reflect the opinions of LatestLY, also LatestLY does not assume any responsibility or liability for the same. With the original publisher saying it may be 'sponsored' and disclaiming editorial control over the content, I think all versions should be removed per WP:SPONSORED. This review of the sources can also be applied to another set of citations in the article with the same title (although Press Trust of India is a reliable source) - as discussed in the Reprints section of the WP:TOOMANYREFS essay, finding the original publisher is best if possible, and only one citation to the article should be used. Please feel free to ping me after revisions are made and more sources are added, or if there are any questions in the meantime. Thank you, Beccaynr (talk) 16:57, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you sir once again for the kind suggestions and connect with Mr Beccaynr for further guidance. Will take the opportunity to communicate with him about anything needed. 1. As explained above, cleaning up all dead links and links of lesser notability. 2. Adding few more notable sourced links that include Telugu & Arabic (from Dubai/Middle East). 3. Yahoo & Zee5 News are the result of HarperCollins press-release on the latest book ‘The Roaring Lambs’. If you suggest we should remove these both sources, I will. 4. As suggested, will keep one link only (published by PTI) 5. As suggested, moving the article to Author section Kindly suggest if the above is fine to go ahead for your kind review219.91.202.175 (talk) 09:34, 29 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi 123.201.174.202, as a general point, please review WP:PROMO, i.e. Wikipedia is not a [...] a vehicle for [...] advertising and showcasing, because this policy appears to be relevant to our discussion, including further down in the section, where it states, Wikipedia articles about a person, company or organization are not an extension of their website, press releases, or other social media marketing efforts. (emphasis added). From my view, and per WP:SPONSORED, this is why the press releases should be removed from the article. In addition, per the Reprints section of the WP:TOOMANYREFS essay, only one version of an article should be used. You can cite to the one version multiple times, and WP:NAMEDREFS shows how to do this in the article. Another example of two different versions of an article cited in the article are 1 and 2, even though his admiration of Adolf Hitler and other leaders are formatted differently. As a volunteer editor, I need to focus my time and energy where I feel that I can be most useful, so I hope you can understand that I feel that this is all of the assistance I can provide. Thank you, Beccaynr (talk) 17:36, 1 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Mr Beccaynr for your kind time and effort to help/guide. Will clean up the duplicated/multi links/social media as you recommended. Press releases, I’m sure you know most of the times are ignored by top media unless there’s valid/genuine news. Despite this if you still feel, we should remove articles of Yahoo and Zee5 News - I shall do that. Admiration for any leader is based on certain qualities and in the case of Adolf - it was his ability/charisma to gather people (not to misconstrued and must keep in the spirit/contextual to the interview, thats talking about leaders/leadership). Mistrust due to lack of research in the past has led this article stay in the draft-section for long. However, there’s nothing that is hiding nor exaggerating about his inspiring story which has enough citations in the public media. It was only Mr Kichu and You are at least giving efforts to guide us as to what should be in and what should be out including where the article belongs to. Will share the draft for your kind review before upload or if you are confident i follow your guidance - upload and share it for your kind review. Thank you again for the time.123.201.171.48 (talk) 05:39, 2 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

SUGAR Cosmetics

[edit]

Hello. sorry to strt a new thread but i can't find where we had chatted before. Thank you for responding to me first of all. I am associated with the company and I have disclosed my conflict of interest at my user page [12]. I was told that in such cases, i should submit my article through AFC process which is what I am trying to do. I read what you said about Forbes and you are right. Print edition is not good. However, at WP:FORBESCON, it is written that Articles that have also been published in the print edition of Forbes are excluded, and are considered generally reliable. It says generally reliable. it's written wrong here then? it meant generally inreliable?

I read a lot and I want to go with Wikipedia:THREE so that I don't waste your time.

  • [13] Its written by Deputy Editor of Entrepreneur and discusses the company. AT WP:RSP, it says that there is no consensus on reliability. Which means we also can't say that it's unreliable. It is a very reputed magazine otherwise and pieces written by deputy editors should be considered reliable I think.
  • [14] It's a video interview and I am aware they are usually not independent. But there is an entire paragraph written about the company which, I think, makes it qualify for a source that can add to notability.
  • [15] written by the staff. This is also a reliable publication and the article discusses the company in-depth and in a significant way.

I also want to highlight that this article was reviewed already by John B123 who had speedy deleted it in past for being promotional. They have always been providing valuable feedback. I have also read your talk page and I see you are sensible and helpful. I hope to receive similar help that you have extended to others so far. Thank you!

Mumbai0421 (talk) 12:11, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Mumbai0421, first of all, thank you for the appreciation. The earlier thread has been archived. Thats why you are not seeing it. If you are getting paid for writing an article, you have to disclose it. Now you have done it so its fine. Because UPE is strictly prohbited in this project and lot of editors have been blocked for it. Even some AFC reviewers have been blocked for getting paid for accepting some creepy and utter promotional articles. Lets leave it come to the case of your article
  • The first source you provided can be only considered as giving some routine coverage rather than significant coverage. What I meant by sigcov is that, the source alone or multiple sources combined should talk about the history of the company, its importance and the other details like that. In my analysis, the first source fails to do that.
  • The second source is a video interview which is usually considered as primary source. And the entire short paragraph about the company is not sufficient to establish GNG
  • And the third source, its unfortunate that I need subscription to read the full story. It seems fine to me.

The main problem is here that your draft only have four sentences which does not give the readers an idea about the subject. You have to rewrite the whole draft by adding various aspects about the company including its history. Atleast expand it little bit more. I hope you understood the point. Please let me know if you have any more concerns. Regards. Kichu🐘 Need any help? 15:17, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Jogesh 69, page move means, you can make changes to the title of an article. But in the case of important articles, you are not supposed to do it, unless you reach consensus on its talk page. In most such article, it will be protected from moving so that only those editors with the page mover rights can move it. I hope you understood. Please let me know of you have any concerns. Regards. Kichu🐘 Need any help? 14:33, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I know that editors with the page mover rights can move. But I don't have such rights then why I am able to do that. I don't think I have these rights. May be a glitch of Wikipedia or some administrator gave me this. 😂 Jogesh 69 (talk) 15:25, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Jogesh 69, please read what I said one more time. I only said editors with page movers right can move it in the case of protected pages. But in the case of unprotected pages, any autoconfirmed users can do it. Regards Kichu🐘 Need any help? 15:28, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I know its been awkward but I want to learn more and more things about Wikipedia, so I am here again to disturb you. I have created an article but I think it will take a hell lot more time to get review. As you are a new page reviewer can you review it. Only if it is legal according to Wikipedia policy. The article is TVF Aspirants Jogesh 69 (talk) 17:59, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Jogesh 69, I wish you to learn more things about wikipedia gradually. Believe me, I had gone through the same stage through which you are going now. And please dont hesitate to disturb me as I really love to help others, especially newcomers. Regarding your article, the web series is surely notable. But Im afraid there is a problem in it. See [16]. The tool has detected a 57 percentage of copyright violation. This means that you cannot exactly copy the contents written in other sources. That is a violation of our copyright policy. There are no other major issues which I can see as of now. Also please remove the red links as that is a whole mess to clean up. Please let me know after its done. Regards Kichu🐘 Need any help? 18:22, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello kichu ji, I have completed your task. From 57.8 % similarity to 2.9% similarity. Now can you review it , after which it will appear in Google search Jogesh 69 (talk) 19:20, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You haven't replied. Jogesh 69 (talk) 15:52, 1 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the late reply Jogesh 69. I somehow missed this. The problem is that my NPP rights were temporary for a month and it has been expired. I have reapplied for it and hope it will be granted permanently. Im sorry I cannot mark it as reviewed until then. Regards Kichu🐘 Need any help? 00:37, 2 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Don't remove people's comments

[edit]

Like you did here. See WP:REFACTOR and stick to your own talk page if you are removing comments over a subjective or otherwise frivolous concern. Thanks. Wareon (talk) 13:31, 29 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wareon, You are the person who give other users unnecessary warnings on their talk page like you did here[17]. Jasksingh added the contents according to consensus on the talk page and you removed it, thus acting against consensus like you did here[18]. And you were warned in the page itself. See [19]. So you should be the person who should be aware of our policies. Otherwise you will be in big trouble. Wikipedia is not a place to propogate your political views. Whatever we do here is according to consensus and keep that in mind. Anyway Im not going to revert your edit again, as I dont want to engage in an edit war and get in trouble. Good luck and regards. Kichu🐘 Need any help? 13:54, 29 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

There was no consensus for addition on talk page and whatever Jaksingh is doing there violates WP:DE just like your disruptive restoration of WP:SOAP per here shows that you are yourself engaging in disruptive editing. Lay low until you understand things here, "otherwise you will be in big trouble". Wareon (talk) 18:01, 29 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Wareon, It seems you have no idea about WP:SOAP. What I did was simply adding back the contents which were removed against consensus. And all these[20] [21] [22] [23] [24] disruptive editing, vandalism and personal attack warnings in your talk page proves who is going to be in big trouble here. So I dont have any time for argument with you. I have other duties to do here. By the way, can you show me atleast any warnings in my talk page or anything similiar to that where I have been warned for disruptive editing or vandalism? You are welcomed to do that. Maybe relist Giambattista Bonis?

[edit]

Hey, I think this AfD should have been relisted instead of closed -- by my count the arguments were 5K-3D, and that's without strength assessment. Regards, JoelleJay (talk) 17:13, 29 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello and hi JoelleJay, I closed it as keep because I felt there was a clear consensus that the subject passes NFOOTY and I had also seen it in the past. Moreover this player had played for Inter which is not a big thing. Also I considered the fact, he played at a time where there were no internet. From my experience at AFD, such articles are usually kept. Anyway, please be feel to tell if you think what I did was wrong. Regards. Kichu🐘 Need any help? 19:09, 29 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for the response. Recently the precedent has been to close sports bio AfDs with similar keep v delete !vote counts as delete, at least when the disagreement is GNG v SNG, since NSPORT specifically requires GNG sourcing to demonstrate notability (so "meets NFOOTY" arguments are not based on the guideline and shouldn't be given much weight). It would have been better to let the discussion continue so that keep !voters had a chance to provide sources, or at least bring up specific offline sources that are extremely likely to include SIGCOV. I think @Fenix Down: has given good relisting prompts lately on this topic. Best, JoelleJay (talk) 00:32, 1 May 2021 (UTC) Edit: fix ping @Fenix down: JoelleJay (talk) 00:33, 1 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hello JoelleJay, what I learnt from AFD is that it is the quality of the arguments rather than the head count of votes which determines the consensus in an AFD. The argument made by Chiro725 was really strong and some other users supported it. And this player had played for one of the European giants like Chiro argued. All these arguments were very strong to favour a keep. And even if we are considering head counts of votes, I believe a keep would have been definetely made. Because in the case of votes, it was one against five, except one deletion favour comment by Govvy. Moreover, it was relisted once and I believe there is no need for further relisting. And one thing I believe is that if the closure was made by an admin, a critism from any other users would not have never happened here. Anyway, please feel free to go for DRV, if you think I have made a mistake. Happy editing and regards. Kichu🐘 Need any help? 00:53, 1 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Non Admin XfD Closure

[edit]

Hi, I noticed that you closed the AfD Discussion Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Harrison Ingram as a non admin closure - this is only possible for clear consensus cases, please make yourself comfortable with the delete process at WP:NACD before doing so again. Here we had 2 delete and 3 keep votes after a week, usually the correct way would have been to relist the discussion to gain consensus. CommanderWaterford (talk) 09:04, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

CommanderWaterford, thankyou for your feedback. With all respect, you are wrong here at the first place itself. You said it had 2 delete votes which is wrong. It had only one. And what I learnt from AFD is that the final consensus is not made on the basis of counting of votes. Our guidleine says Consensus on Wikipedia does not mean unanimity (which is ideal but not always achievable), nor is it the result of a vote. Decision making and reaching consensus involve an effort to incorporate all editors' legitimate concerns, while respecting Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. As a reply to that only delete vote, another user had given a valid and good reason which is supported by other two editors with good reputation. You can also see that in the discussions where the consensus was not clear, I have gone with the relisting. Regards Kichu🐘 Need any help? 14:19, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Obviously you closed several AfD Discussions as a non admin without a clear consensus. I suggest stopping this - closing AfDs is usually admin task, definitely nothing for less experienced Editors. CommanderWaterford (talk) 09:09, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Kashmorwiki This is absolutely true but it is usually not up to you - as a non admin - to evaluate this. CommanderWaterford (talk) 15:13, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
CommanderWaterford, nowhere it is said that only admins can close AFD's. Any editor who have good experience in AFD's as well as with good reputation can close AFD's. I believe I had not done any blunder mistakes so far in this case. Silly mistakes like this definetly happen during the first time and thats why we have editors like you to point out. And I had asked the advice of an admin. Until then, I am not dealing with any closure. And if they are saying I should not proceed with this anymore, I am happy to do so. Kichu🐘 Need any help? 15:18, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Well @Kashmorwiki, I appreciate your contributions quite often but do not think that you have sufficient experience nor sufficient reputation honestly to do so but I am not an admin so I allowed myself to have someone else - an admin - watched over these closures. CommanderWaterford (talk) 15:21, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
CommanderWaterford, I am really confident that I have more than experience for closing the uncontroversial AFD's. And I dont know what is your criteria for assessing one's experience. Out of the 22 closures I did, one or two might not be accurate and I agree it with you. But I also request you to asses the complete list to say your opinion. If anyone makes some few mistakes during their early days while doing any job doesnt mean they are not capable of doing it. Anyway, I had asked the opinion of some other more experienced users. If they suggest me to stop this, I'm happy to do so. Regards. Kichu🐘 Need any help? 16:08, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

CommanderWaterford, I had never dealt with any contreversial closures so far. I had only closed the AFD's where the consensus was clear. May be in the case of some AFD's you may be right. Can you point me out one such scenario where I closed without getting any consensus. It will be helpful for me. And I believe I have enough experience to close AFD's. I am not that much less experienced like you said as I have been participating in AFD's for the past 5 months. Anyway since you gave me a suggestion, I will be taking mentorship from any of the admin, who usually closes AFD's. And while you point out the mistake, I also wished you had noticed the positive side of my contributions. Thank you for the suggestion and regards. It looks stupid to ask but in Jagdeo Prasad article

The feudal mentality of the contemporary period being wary of the backward caste people emulating the lifestyle of the upper castes, Prasad had to face several incidents which reveals the ongoing class conflict within society

What could be the proper replacement of it in lead. I just want to write it in more encyclopedic way. Heba Aisha (talk) 18:50, 2 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Heba Aisha, the opening sentence of this article itself is not written in neutral point of view according to me. The feudal mentality of the contemporary period; this need to be changed as per WP:FALSEBALANCE. A little bit of original research is also present here. The main issue I see here is this phrase; being wary of the backward caste people emulating the lifestyle of the upper castes. This is pure original research. So I will suggest you my opinion. I dont know whether it is accurate or not. If you find this is not convincing, you may ask for help from more experienced editors or raise your concern at Wikiproject India. Prasad during his lifetime, is known to have been a strong opposer and critic of the cast based discrimination happened in the society. I hope this is convincing. Ambalappuzha Vijayakrishnan birth

[edit]

There seems to be conflicting info on the birth date in the article you created Ambalappuzha Vijayakrishnan. The first sentence says c. 1967 and the infobox says c. 1971. Two of the references (first and seventh) say the elephant was 51 years old when he died, which would mean he was born in 1969–70. Hello Melofors, the problem with the date of birth of elephants, who were captured from forest is that their exact year of birth might not be accurate. You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for abusing multiple accounts as a sockpuppet of User:Sulshanamoodhi per the evidence presented at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Sulshanamoodhi. Request reason:

This was always a concern to me. I was always afraid that someday this would happen. Mz7, please read this fully to understand what actually happened here. First of all Kbfc1234 is definetly not me. Please do verify it with CU. I commit the rest are mine. I was blocked during my early days here, at a time I did not had any idea about our policies regarding using multiple accounts. And all of them were blocked for causing disruptive editing and I agree with it. I deserved it. But in case of Shahoodu, it was not the case. I was only editing from Shahoodu during that time and didnt cause any disruption or vandalism But one day, when I tried to change my name, I was caught. And I was not even unable to login back to that account to request for unblock. I even send mail to the bureaucrats, but did not got any respond. And I didnt had any idea of what to do next. So I started using Kashmorwiki. But it was too late for me to understood that if a person got blocked for sockpuppetry, they must raise the block from the sockmaster. But I dont have access to any of those. This is the only account I use now. I was always afraid this would happen someday. So I even asked Oshwah regarding this. And I was about to tell Oshwah about my past and histoy. But I was afraid that I would get blocked at that instant itself, because this project has become a part of my daily life and I had been only using this for good purpose. Please do verify this by just checking my talk page history and edit histories. Im also pinging Vincentvikram and Beccaynr who knows how well I am contributing to this project. I cant even imagine a day without it. So I am kindly requesting for an unblock for the above reasons. This is the only account I use now. Kbfcfan was one of my earlier accounts and I agree with it. It was blocked like am year ago for vandalism (My first days in wiki). But Kbfc1234 is definetly not me.RoySmith, please do CU on it. Its not at all me. Since my last block in December 2020, I have been only editing from Kashmorwiki and has never edited on multiple accounts. So of this request is not given properly, please tell me a way how can I uplift this block. I want to make some good contributions to this project like Im doing now. I dont have any access to my earlier accounts. So this is the only account from which I can request for an unblock. Please do consider this. Decline reason:

I've reviewed everything here, and at WP:AN, and I unfortunately will need to decline this request. The first, and most obvious problem, is the fact that you are the admitted sock of a globally blocked editor. In this alone, allowing you to continue to edit here would be a violation of that global block that you have in the first place. Second is the proof of gaming the system that was shown below. I also, with other admins, believe you are not being honest with your connection with Kbfc1234. In short, unblocking you would be a mistake, and I feel we would be back with this in a matter of time all over again. Therefore I am declining this request. RickinBaltimore (talk) 20:18, 6 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Kashmorwiki, I am not an administrator, but I have answers for your questions. First, Mz7 is a checkuser. Sockpuppetry blocks are usually made very cautiously. As you probably already know, checkusers have access to a list of all the accounts that have edited from a certain IP address. However, many users edit from devices that are used by many users, making sockpuppetry hard to confirm. Sockpuppetry can be confirmed in those situations if the users behave in a similar manner, edit the same articles, etc. Second, your unblock request is almost certainly going to be declined in a situation like this. If you asked Mz7, they would likely respond with a message like "The accounts are technically indistinguishable." Checkusers do not just "take a user's word for it"; since often the users are lying. So if you want to be unblocked, first and foremost, admit your sockpuppetry. Third, you said I can[']t even imagine a day without it. Checkusers are trained not to be touched by comments like this; persistent sockmasters often use comments like that. Fourth, likely your only way to be unblocked is the standard offer. To use the standard offer, wait six months. Do not make any edits on any account or IP in that time. One edit, and the clock restarts. Currently, if you took six months off, submitted an unblock appeal, had it copied to WP:AN, and if the majority of administrators supported unblocking you, then you would be unblocked, at about November 11 or so, you'd be unblocked, almost certainly on a one-account restriction. Lastly, since you have used more than three accounts, you are considered banned per WP:3X. One administrator is not enough to lift your ban. You can only get unblocked by a community consensus at WP:AN. Do you understand? 🐔 Chicdat  Bawk to me! 10:43, 4 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thankyou Chicdat. I already commmited that I did sockpuppetry. But what Im saying is that Kbfc1234 is definetly not me. And all that accounts except Shahoodu were blocked like an year ago. As per our rule, I should be definetely blocked. But I commited a mistake during my early days here and I totally agree with it. The circumstances have changed now. For the several months, I have been using this only for good purpose like reducing backlog at AFC and helping other users. So dont I deserve a second chance? What is your personal opinion on this going through my editing history and talk page? And I have only access to this account and its talk page. So how can I open a thread at ANI? And I said, I cant even imagine a day without it just out of my emotion. O know we should not do it. But that feeling of all your efforts of the last several months spending here getting wasted makes me to say this. Technically speaking, I violated our guidlines. But in reality, do I?. Kichu🐘 Need any help? 11:36, 4 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Several days later, I again edited while logged out, and tripped an edit filter on the redirect !. I was not blocked for any of this, but I previously held some advanced user rights. Thank you for your helping mentality Chicdat. I would like to ask you a favour. Could you first notify this to Oshwah regarding this. He is a great expert in this and knows my situation here. Because I had talked him about this. I hope he will understand my situation. The problem here is that, if a person is getting blocked for sockpuppetry, the community wont uplift their block easily. As for your "I didn't know" sentence, it's okay. We all have to read policies and guidelines. CLCStudent was recently blocked after finally being caught with sockpuppetry they commited five years ago! I myself made so many mistakes that I was banned from administrative areas in July. And about Oshwah, it's so nice to have a user who will help you out and guide you around the wiki. Yours was Oshwah; mine was Hurricanehink. And don't worry, you will be unblocked. 🐔 Chicdat  Bawk to me! 11:59, 4 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I believe it is quite ok to revoke his ban as he used Wikipedia with good intentions unlike AARYA SAJAYAN aka Vishaal Elias Manesh, an ethnic sock who caused troubles a lot with his boundless sock accounts. Outlander07@talk 12:03, 4 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thankyou Outlander07, I believe I deserves a chance by considering my effort and contributions to this project. I was first blocked for abusing wikimedia commons. So I am ready to accept a ban from editing on it. Regards. Kichu🐘 Need any help? 12:11, 4 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Chicdat, its so hard to see a user like CLCStudent with more than 300k getting blocked for something they committed like five years ago. But it seems CLSStudent were using two accounts at the time of their block. But my case is different. I have never abused it since my first block. I am totally innconet if my records after the first block is considered. But Im ready to wait for six months to appeal for a unblock. But this poject was a part of daily life. And I was sure that one day I will be caught. I was about to say this to Oshwah inorder to release this burden from my head. But when he said I had to uplift my block from the original sock, which I dont have access anymore, I turned back and O regret it now. Regards. Kichu🐘 Need any help? 12:06, 4 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to tell you something, Kashmorwiki. There was recently a request for comment about whether editors can request review on the blocks of others. The result was that requesting community review of a block is discouraged, but allowed. Therefore, I will request on WP:AN that this block be reviewed. 🐔 Chicdat  Bawk to me! 12:11, 4 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Chicdat. There are some users who knows me very well. So if you are opening a thread, please let them also unless it does not under canvassing. I hope here it is not canvassing. And the term sock will surely get me into trouble. Because 99.9 percent socks are for abusing here. But my case is not like that. I hope the community will understand it. Regards Kichu🐘 Need any help? 12:18, 4 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

And Chicdat, one thing found on SPI was that Kbfc1234 is my sock. But its completely wrong. Kbfcfan was me and it was blocked about an year ago. And I think that account Kbfc1234 is causing more problem here. And in the SPI, I didnt even got a chance to defend my self and thats so hard. Regards Kichu🐘 Need any help? 12:40, 4 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
On Wikipedia, these things just happen sometimes. But please don't message me any more. I have a large edit I'm trying to save. I'll get back to you later. 🐔 Chicdat  Bawk to me! 12:43, 4 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

FWIW I've always found Kashmorwiki to be a productive editor and would support an unblock. GiantSnowman 13:26, 4 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thankyou GiantSnowman. Finally an admin who values my contribution. I swear I have never used another account since my last block. I was forced to use this, because I was unable to login to Shahoodu to apply for an unblock. Like I said, this is the only account which I have access. And Im afraid if I somehow got log out accidenyl from this account, I might not be able to login again ever, unless this block is uplifted. I hope you remember I was the person who completely cleared the backlog of football related drafts submitted at AFC. Like that, I believe I had given my best to this project in different areas, especially at AFC and AFD. So dont I deserve a second chance for a mistake I committed long time back while I was still a newbie here? Regards. Kichu🐘 Need any help? 13:43, 4 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello ProcrastinatingReader, thank you for your comment at ANI. I am requesting for an unblock because I believe my block is no longer jusifiable. All those evidence presented at SPI happened a long time ago. And I got blocked for that. The mistake I made here is that, I didnt appeal for an unblock. But what happened was that, I had no access to request for an unblock. Also it was too late before Oshwah taught me about this policy about unblocking. But I was afraid due to this one fact you said at ANI that a user was there who went through multiple WP:PERM processes and was editing well, then confided in an admin that they were previously blocked on a different account and so ended up getting blocked. So technically speaking, I deserves a block. But my humble question to the community is that, do I really deserves it, considering my whole intention here were good and were productive? RoySmith, kbfcfan was blocked on 31 May 2020. [47]. And this guy Kbfc1234 is saying kbfcfan were blocked on 18 May.[48] I dont know whats happening here and dont know how to convince you. Doing a CU will prove it, right? Also just please go through their editing behaviour especially language. Its entirely different. Kichu🐘 Need any help? 15:30, 4 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

And RoySmith, I searched for kbfc to see whether this guy is mentioning someone else and it seems that there are like 8 accounts with the name as kbfc. [49]. Please, Im being misjudged here. Kichu🐘 Need any help? 15:38, 4 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Note to the admin that does the unblock review: Kashmorwiki has accepted/declined 501 AFC drafts, and I have had good interactions with him at AFC. I think it likely that he is a net positive to the project. If you agree after doing your own checks on his edits, the SPI case, etc., I would suggest an unblock might be reasonable here. –Novem Linguae (talk) 16:06, 4 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Kashmorwiki - why did you edit as 'Shahoodu' in December 2020? GiantSnowman 16:03, 4 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

GiantSnowman, I already said the reason above. After my first block, I was only editing with the account Shahoodu. I didnt know it was already blocked on commons because of me uploading non licensed images. So when I tried to change my username, it was flagged and got locked globally. I was not even able to use my talk page. Desperated me had no option other than using this account permanently from which I had made some few edits (mainly to upload images, this time fairly). Thats just happened here. And this Kbfc1234, I dont know how to prove thats not me. After my first block in May, I am using this project only for the well being. I have never cause any disruption after it. Infact, I gradually became a rollbacker to fight vandalism which I did here while I was a newbie here. You can see that all these fellow editors are suppprting for my unblock. Because I believe I had givem my best to this project. So I am humbly requesting for an unblock. And thankyou Novem Linguae. Hello @RoySmith:, I saw the spi against kashmorwiki now. I dont believe Kbfc1234 is Kashmorwiki's socks. Because I would like to provide you some evidence. See this on my talk page [50] Here Kbfc1234 tries to explain about the players position and forgets user's signature.Secondly Kbfc1234 's edit summary and some edits on talkpages is kind of shouting as the user uses full uppercase letters [51][52] [53][54]. When I relate this with Shahoodu/Kashmorwiki their edit summary , editting pattern and talk page interactions are clearly different from Kbfc1234. I had some talk page interactions with Shahoodu where he/she was using polite language which is different from Kbfc1234. So please take a look at this thing. And also we would miss good editor like Kashmorwiki who where doing great job in AFC , AFD and other projects. Thanks Poppified talk 16:26, 4 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Note to admin who reviews the block: I would also like to support an unblock considering his/hee valuable contributions to this project. In fact me and Kashmorwiki (as well as his/her older account Shahoodu) have worked together to improve several Indian football related articles, especially when it is related to Kerala Blasters. On doing a research on his/her edit history, mainly from Kashmorwiki, I could not find anything abusive.ThanksPoppified talk 16:54, 4 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • After expressing the fact that this deception has seriously disenchanted me, the more so since this editor has been an AFC reviewer whose reviews have improved (as hoped for with any new AFC reviewer) over time. I feel a great breach of trust has been perpetrated upon us.
Set against that is this editor's genuine usefulness, willingness to learn, and collegial working. I would be in favour of WP:SO, and, in view of their open admission, albeit having been caught, I would not be averse to a variation on the down period. My thinking is that this has sockpuppetry has been foolishness rather than malicious, and that Wikipedia overall has benefited from their active presence. FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 18:23, 4 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Like Timtrent said, I had committed all the foolishness I did here under sockpuppetry. I repeat, it was foolishness rather than malpractise. And I am requesting for a WP:SO. It was only after editing permanently from this account since January that I learned more sockpuppetry and its bad effects (still didnt had an exact idea until Oshwah taught me it few weeka back). I had repeated this thing several times on this discussion itself. And after using this account, I had never edited from account without disclosing it because I now knows the seriousness of it, even though I learnt it too late. Unless proven, I am ready to face anything imposed upon me by the community. Because you can see that its been only a few months since I got all these rights, which implies I was indeed a slow learner. So considering my contribution to this project, eagerness to learn everything and all other positive aspects, I am kindly requesting for giving me another chance. I am not saying I wont repeat it again, as I had not done it again since my last block and wont be doing it again. And Celestina007, I had no other intentions with you other than learning about UPI. Because I hope you can understand how effectively I was fighting against it. Also have a review on the drafts I reviewed. And I can firmly say, no one can show here any mode of disruptive editing, edit warring or anything against our guidelines from my side since my last block. But all the blame is on me who lost the trust from my community due to a foolishness which I commited during my early days. I regret it as one of the worst moments in my life. Regards and thankyou to all my fellow colleagues. Kichu🐘 Need any help? 00:47, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Break

[edit]

For the aid of those reviewing this block, I hope I can clarify the history of this case, since it's a bit complicated. I apologize for the length—as the old saying goes, "If I had more time, I could've written it shorter."

Timeline of sockpuppetry
  • From March 2020 to May 2020, this user's main account was Sulshanamoodhi (talk · contribs).
    • On 30 April 2020, Sulshanamoodhi's was blocked for 1 week on the Wikimedia Commons for "Uploading unfree files after warnings", see [55]. They then used the Kbfcfan (talk · contribs) account (see [56]) and the Shahoodu (talk · contribs) account [57] to attempt to evade the block on the Wikimedia Commons. Subsequently, Sulshanamoodhi was blocked indefinitely on the Wikimedia Commons. [58]
    • Meanwhile, on the English Wikipedia, throughout May 2020, this user used both the Sulshanamoodhi and Kbfcfan to edit several of the same articles at the same time. Because this is a violation of the sockpuppetry policy, on 31 May 2020, the Kbfcfan account was blocked indefinitely and the Sulshanamoodhi account was blocked for a period of 1 week. See SPI archive.
  • From June 2020 to December 2020, this user's main account was Shahoodu (talk · contribs).
    • After the Sulshanamoodhi account was blocked on enwiki for 1 week on 31 May 2020, they abandoned that account and began to use Shahoodu for all their English Wikipedia editing. You can see from [59] that they were using the account from 3 June to 7 June 2020, which would have been during the time that the Sulshanamoodhi account was still blocked for sockpuppetry.
    • On 7 June 2020, this user created the account Capellawikiphoto (talk · contribs) to evade their block on the Wikimedia Commons again. There, they uploaded a photo which they later used the Capellawikiman (talk · contribs) account to add to Wikipedia. On 10 August 2020, this user created the Kashmorwiki account to evade their block on the Wikimedia Commons yet again. One of their first edits with Kashmorwiki was to upload a picture to the Commons to later insert to Wikipedia.
    • From August 2020 to December 2020, this user then began to use both the Kashmorwiki and the Shahoodu account simultaneously on the English Wikipedia, often editing the same articles and talk pages within hours of each other. This was a deliberate attempt to masquerade as multiple people: see [60][61], which is an exchange in which this user used the Shahoodu account to leave a warning for themselves and then the Kashmorwiki account to respond with an apology.
    • In December 2020, apparently we here at the English Wikipedia finally discovered what was going on at the Wikimedia Commons, and since Shahoodu and Capellawikiman had both been used to edit Wikipedia, on 30 December 2020, we decided to block Sulshanamoodhi, Shahoodu, and Capellawikiman all indefinitely. See SPI archive. At this point, we did not realize that the Kashmorwiki account was involved.
  • From January 2021 to now, this user's main account has been Kashmorwiki (talk · contribs).
    • Because the Kashmorwiki account had remained undetected when the other accounts were blocked in December 2020, the user has kept using that account to edit Wikipedia despite the block on the Shahoodu account. As you can see here, the Shahoodu account was blocked on 30 December 2020, and this user immediately resumed editing as Kashmorwiki the very next day on 31 December 2020.

That brings us to now. Needless to say, this user has had a very extensive history with getting blocked on various accounts, creating new accounts, then getting blocked again, particularly on the Wikimedia Commons.

Mitigating factors

To Kashmorwiki's credit, there are a few facts that work to their favor here.

  • The account Kbfc1234 (talk · contribs) is also suspected to be related to Kashmorwiki primarily because of overlapping editing interests, as well as this edit in which Kbfc1234 states Sorry i forgot onething to say that i had one more account which was blocked on 18th may named kbfc fan, which we took as a reference to the Kbfcfan (talk · contribs) account.
    • The CU evidence is indeed inconclusive that Kashmorwiki and Kbfc1234 are related. CU cannot rule out the possibility that they are related, but the technical match is not as strong as that between Kashmorwiki and Shahoodu.
  • If we assume that Kbfc1234 is unrelated, then there is no evidence that they have used other accounts since January 2021. It seems that after they were finally blocked with the Shahoodu account, they finally realized that using multiple accounts is generally not a good idea.
  • Kashmorwiki is an account with almost 10,000 edits and holds the autopatrolled flag. They have been active at AfC reviewing, and several editors here have vouched for them.
  • WP:3X does not apply because this user has not been confirmed by a CheckUser to have engaged in sockpuppetry on at least two occasions after an initial indefinite block that is active (I interpret the initial indefinite block here as the block of Shahoodu in December 2020). Thus, any administrator can feel free to unblock directly rather than await a community consensus.
Conclusion

I hope this information is helpful to administrators reviewing this block. At this time, I'm still mulling this over, and I am expressing no view on whether the unblock request should be accepted, but because Kashmorwiki has been forthcoming about their connection to Shahoodu, as a checkuser, I am giving permission for administrators to consider this an ordinary block instead of a checkuser block. Mz7 (talk) 02:00, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Mz7, Thank you for the summary. For my part, I'm not going to unblock them, but won't object if another admin wants to. To clarify what I mean by that, I'm still convinced that they are lying about Kbfc1234 not being them, and I'm still convinced that having been shown to be untrustyworthy, they are a net negative to the project regardless of how many AfC reviews they've done. However, these things are judgement calls and if another admin judges differently, I'm not going to second-guess them on it. -- RoySmith (talk) 12:18, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
In the archive Maxim said 1234 was "Unlikely" to be related (rather than inconclusive). Given that K has already admitted to almost half a dozen sock accounts, it doesn't really make sense for him to refuse to also admit to the 1234 account if that's actually him. But the alternative is joe jobbing, and I dunno why someone would joe job him, but I guess stranger things have happened. ProcrastinatingReader (talk) 12:36, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
ProcrastinatingReader, which stories are true and which aren't? -- RoySmith (talk) 12:54, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Also, apparently the 1234 account is now active, so surely a CU can be ran on it. Now, I'm not sure why that account would turn up active again. I appreciate it's recently been blocked, but the account doesn't seem to have been particularly active beforehand and has no email attached (it seems) for notifications there either, so it doesn't make sense for it to immediately find out and respond to its block. Either way, a CU ran on it might shed more light. Ping Mz7. ProcrastinatingReader (talk) 12:41, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
RoySmith, I dont know how to convince you. I still repeat that Kbfc1234 is not me. I already committed the rest are mine. Just because some other users think that Kbfc1234 is me, the chances of me getting unblocked is diminishing. I dont know how CU works. But my humble request is please do CU on it to verify whether Im lying. I am only requesting for a pardon because I havent edited from multiple accounts since my last block. If found otherwise, you may take any action you need. Regards. Kichu🐘 Need any help? 13:57, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@ProcrastinatingReader: I ran another check on the Kbfc1234 account to look at the data from the recent edits, and I'm afraid it's still inconclusive. I can neither confirm that that account is Kashmorwiki nor that the account is not Kashmorwiki. All Kashmorwiki would have to do to produce this technical result would simply be to switch to a different device to edit with the Kbfc1234 account. It's up to us whether to believe them when they say they're someone else. Mz7 (talk) 14:50, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
These two[62] [63] are tje results editing interaction resuls between kbfc1234 and my earlier 2 accounts. I dont know how to prove my innocence using this. This is really hurting. If there is somebody who can compare my editing history, pattern, language and behaviour with that of Kbfc1234 and prove we both are different persons, I would be always grateful to you. Kichu🐘 Need any help? 15:13, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thankyou Mz7. Like I said several times, I have never edited from any another accounts after editing permanently from Kashmorwiki. I believe the evidence provided by another editor here, with whom I have worked together on several articles is enough to prove that Kbfc1234 is not me. After creating so many articles amd getting autopatrolled rights and many other responsibilities, I was really afraid that all my reputation would be gone someday if I get caught for the mistake I did during my early times. And I was about to tell this to Oshwah. So I apologise to the community for all the foolishness act I did before January (before my last block from Shahoodu). I actually did it only for evading block on commmons and not for causing disruption. After that, I have a clean and neat records. Indeed, I believe I am now a great asset to thi project. So my request to the reviewing admin is that please check my talk page and editing history to see my worth of getting pardoned. And I believe I will be pardoned by the community for something I did without knowing the seriousness in the past. Regards. Kichu🐘 Need any help? 02:27, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • I can also vouch for Kichu based on our interactions and my observations, which include his work both at AFC and following up on questions and comments from editors, his work at AFD as a nominator and !voter, his work to identify and report sockpuppets, as well as his willingness to seek advice and feedback. The abuse of multiple accounts and the block evasion are major breaches of trust, yet instead of using the evasion to continue abusing multiple accounts or engaging in other policy violations, Kichu seems to have worked very hard to become not only a productive Wikipedian, but also protective of Wikipedia. I would ask that this be considered with the unblock request. Beccaynr (talk) 03:04, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • I came here because I was surprised to see that Kichu was blocked; he seemed like a valuable and productive user. However, after reading Mz7's excellent summary of how many times this user has deceived other Wikipedians through multiple accounts, the current block is proper and the SO should apply. I seriously gave up counting how many accounts they had used. "Look at all the excellent work I have been doing while evading my block", which is essentially their reasoning for unblock, is not a valid reason to unblock.--- Possibly (talk) 06:20, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • I, too, was surprised to see that this user is blocked, because I have come across them in many recent AfDs etc. and always thought them productive and helpful. Having said which, I can accept neither the 'I was foolish rather than malevolent', nor the 'I was naughty - but I'm the nice kind of naughty' (or words to those effects) arguments, not after what Mz7 describes above. Persistent, skilful deceit like that doesn't happen without clear intent, and that outweighs (to my mind) any amount of positive contribution, by a considerable margin. And that's to say nothing of the breakdown of trust — "fool me once, shame on you..." and all that. I'm not an admin and have no powers in this matter, but all the same FWIW, I would not wish to see the block lifted. Regards, --DoubleGrazing (talk) 06:37, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • This user has deceived the community for too long. I see no reason why he should be allowed to edit again, under present circumstances. Doing so would but tantamount to rewarding behavior that is absolutely incompatible with the editorial conduct expected of Wikipedia editors. The community might be willing to entertain an unblock request in future, provided this user provides evidence of 6 months of trouble-free editing in any of Wikipedia's sister projects, with evidence demonstrating good collaborative behavior.

But there is no guarantee that the unblock request will work.

Looking at their last 4 months of editing, I am concerned why Kashmorwiki did large additions to the article[64] where he had declared his COI from the earlier account. [65] I also don't buy the claim that they forgot password of Shahoodu only after it was blocked in December for socking . Abhishek0831996 (talk) 08:50, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Abhishek0831996, I havent said I lost password. What I said was I have no acces to it. This statement has different meaning. I am presently unable to login into it. Its locked globally. And thats because I decieved the community for a long time and totaly agree with it. But since January, I have never decieved anyone. I am only using this account since then. That is what Im asking. Since my last block, have I decieved or cheated on anyone? I am neat and clean for the last 4 months. I know this does not guarantee my unblock. But I hope someone will be here who understands my situation. And see[66] my chat with Oshwah. Regards Kichu🐘 Need any help? 09:00, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm actually shocked to see Kashmorwiki in this situation. I agree the fact that this Wikipedian have deceived all the Wikipedians. But I can say that he didn't used this profile to do what he had done in the past with all his previous accounts. Until January, he had only less than 100 edits. Since then, he have nearly 10000 edits. His activities to the date shows that he has been a polite Wikipedian and is an explicit example of a good Wikipedian. So his claim that he learned more about the guidelines should be taken into account. I agree with the the fact that he had violated the Wikipedia guidelines a year or so ago, but his current contributions towards the Wikipedia should not be forgotten. He have no records of bad activities in his current profile, and I believe he deserves a second chance. I consider this as his only mistake that he has made. Considering the fact that he had never used another account since his last block, and his whole intention was a good motive, I will be supporting an unblock. Ken Tony Shall we discuss? 09:05, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
To be clear, at the time the Shahoodu (talk · contribs) account was blocked, it had at least 3000 edits, not just 100. See [67]. Mz7 (talk) 14:20, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • I think Abhishek0831996's above point is important — why did Shahoodu have a declarable COI with respect to KBFC, but Kashmorwiki did not feel inclined to similarly disclose? One of the purposes of the disclosure is to notify others that a COI user's edits may need to be examined for NPOV issues. This should be clarified even if the unblock request is successful, especially as they have been the article's most frequent editor in the last four months. DanCherek (talk) 14:35, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If your unblock request is declined, I imagine you'd be told to wait some number of months before retrying. But my questions, which I think are relevant for evaluating your request (though I'm not an admin and have no authority to accept or decline) are: what is the nature of the COI that you (Shahoodu) declared, and why were you using two accounts on the KBFC article, one with a disclosed COI and one without? DanCherek (talk) 15:24, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
DanCherek, from Shahoodu, I was extensively editing on kbfc article as Im a big fan of the club. So one editor (I think they were not admin) suggested me to put COI on kbfc article. And the reason I started the account kashmorwiki was mainly for adding images since Shahoodu was blocked on commons for uploading non licensed images. And with Kashmorwiki, you can see that I had not made any major edits on kbfc article while I was mainly using Shahoodu. Though I made some of it using Kashmorwiki. Because I thought if everybody is seeing that only Shahoodu is making major edits, it would cause some more problem. Like I said, I was just a normal user back then with no idea of how things work here. And it was only after Shahoodu got blocked that I used Kashmorwiki as main account. And from that moment, this is my only account. Regards. Kichu🐘 Need any help? 15:43, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Kichu, you were warned about WP:SOCK on June 7, 2020 [68] by Drat8sub. It sounds like you are admitting to later using multiple accounts to avoid WP:SCRUTINY; from my view, it appears you had been informed about how things work here. Beccaynr (talk) 16:38, 6 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I checked, and combined with Mz7's data on cuwiki and some of my old notes, I'm reasonably certain that Kbfc1234 is Red X Unrelated, and is one of our long-term SPI impersonator trolls. No comment on the merits of the unblock request. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 16:29, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@RickinBaltimore: it's kind of buried here, but since I see you mentioned the alleged connection to Kbfc1234 in your unblock decline, I would like to draw your attention to my comment a few lines up. I don't support unblocking the user (and definitely not Kbfc1234) but I thought you should be aware. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 23:37, 6 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • I just had a look at the ANI thread and saw some users commenting with thinking that I was still using multiple accounts even after January. But thats not true. Please note that it has been proven that Kbfc1234 is a different user. So like I claimed, I was being neat and clean since my block in December. For the last four months, my whole intention here was to build an encyclopedia. And its so disappointing to see some users commenting that I am not here to build an encyclopedia by ignoring my contributions to this project for the last several months. I know all the blame is on me. But now its proven that I was only using this account since last block, I request other editors to comment at ANI on the basis of that. And please listen to one more thing. My first block was almost an year ago for abusing using multiple accounts. After that, I had never abused this project like the normal socks normally do. Please do see the SPI history. Shahoodu was basically blocked for causing that disruption during that early time in wikimedia commons. But the block happened only after a few months later in december, while I tried to change Shahoodu's name. Because it was already blocked in commons So you can see I had never abused this project using Shahoodu. I had also provided the reason for using Kashmorwiki with very less edits along with Shahoodu above. The main reason was to upload photos on common and actually had no intention to edit on english wikipedia. So please consider all this explanations and I am requesting for pardoning me. Regards. • I’m sorry I may not be able to defend nor try to plead on your behalf anymore but in fact would proceed to do the inverse. It appears not just sockpuppetry or block evasion applies here, but WP:GAME also. You operated multiple accounts under different aliases and interacted with yourself using the accounts in an attempt to give the illusion of multiple editors conversing whereas it was just you, that’s really bad faith editing no matter what manner you try to interpret such action. Celestina007 (talk) 18:29, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I happened to notice you removed the content from [[]Manjappada]] without any notice. Please stop it or you may get blocked Shahoodu (talk) 10:05, 18 November 2020 (UTC)
: hello Shahoodu, Sorry for the trouble, I don't know much about Manjappada in detail but I have seen a lot about it in newspapers and internet. And about the content I removed; it did not covered about the incident in full depth so I removed it by thinking that later I can work on it. Now you have added more information and the problem is solved. Kashmorwiki (talk) 11:13, 18 November 2020 (UTC)

User is playing game and don't considerateness(care) about wiki rules of serious sockpuppetry(It's not just some simple wiki editing mistake). User is fooling other (wikipedia) by this sockpuppetry. Dear, Sir/Mam.... Ohh....well for you(blocked sockpuppet), you(also some other editors) are saying to see your good works. But for me you are saying see his(mine) bad history. Hypocrisy at it's best.

Well, I don't have anything personal with you or anyone. Have I said anything about your talk or things you have done on my page or any other place.

On that deleted article, you were not the admin(who delete it also you were not only who voted for delete). I may have some wrong editing by mistake (as too err is human). But it was a editing mistake. I was not fooling wikipedia by sockpuppetry. If you were(will) blocked for bad(wrong) editing or uploading copyrighted image, then I'll be the one who will go even for ICJ for unblocking and even compensation for you. But fooling others(wikipedia) and doing sockpuppetry should be considered strictly. It is not like a typo error things. The debate is not about mine history, So plz. It is about your sockpuppetry history. Well, plz, I am not commenting on your edit or any other history mistakes(with one account)... It's about sockpuppetry(creating an illusion of support.

And please note that with the evidences from the SPI archives and as per findings by Ivanvector, Kbfc1234 is not me. So its disappointing that Im being accussed for a mistake I had not committed. I already committed all the mistakes I did here. And what Im requesting is a second chance by just looking at my contributions for the past several months since my last block. If that alone is not eligible for an unblock, I kindly request you or other admins to give me an advice for what should I do to uplift the block or how much time should I wait for placing another request. Please let me know about this. • The absolute biggest concern I have, which you did not mention, is your admission that this account is the sock of a globally blocked editor. You're evading a block through all of the Wikimedia sites, not just the English Wikipedia. RickinBaltimore (talk) 11:14, 7 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@RickinBaltimore: I presume you mean global locks, but I too am curious, where can I read this policy about global lock evasion and its intersection with enwiki block appeals?
Separately, Kichu, you might want to email stewards@wikimedia.org and link to here, asking if you can be unlocked for the purposes of an appeal (even if you can't log into that account). If nothing else, perhaps a steward will show up and clarify their locking procedures. ProcrastinatingReader (talk) 13:38, 7 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

RickinBaltimore and ProcrastinatingReader, thankyou for your responses. If Im right, I think I had mailed to stewards regarding this after I was unable to login from Shahoodu. Anyway, I will try it once again. Should I mail from the mail ID linked to Kashmorwiki or Shahoodu? And now Im glad to recieve assistance regarding how to unlock my account. Earlier, I was really helpless as I was not even unable to login. Regards Kichu🐘 Need any help? 13:50, 7 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Either, I guess. I'm sure the stewards will advise further once you get in touch with them if they want you to do something else. You can also try https://webchat.freenode.net channel #wikimedia-stewards. ProcrastinatingReader (talk) 14:37, 7 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
However, I will note that I don't think stewards unlock accounts unless they've been unblocked on a project, and for enwiki I think because we have UTRS they expect UTRS to be used for appeals. Why I'm advising this is because the RickinBaltimore's decline rationale appears to suggest some kind of circular reasoning which would imply it's impossible for any globally locked editors to be unblocked/unblocked, ever, on any account. So perhaps we'll get a steward here to clear up global policy. Even if a declined appeal is reasonable (and there are many good reasons to decline it), this particular decline rationale appears to lead into limbo, and possibly RB is conflating global locks and global bans. ProcrastinatingReader (talk) 14:53, 7 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I totally respect RB's judgement on my first unblock request. But I also have some concerns regarding it. First of all RB said in the decline reason that I was "lying" about being Kbfc1234, which has been disproven by a checkuser. So my clean history for the past four months as well as the support from other users for an unblock was not even considered on the request. RB had also commented in that ANI thread. And most saddest part is that despite my nearly 10,000 edits have been completely positive some users are treating me like some ordinary socks whose only intention here is to cause disruption. Also Mz7 had said that this can be considered as an ordinary block rather than a check user block. So I was hoping an uninvolved administrator to have a re-look at my request. And please have some time to consider my recent good history, contributions to this project and supportive comments from others before taking a decision. Regards. Related to the possible unblock, I was intrigued by Abhishek0831996 mentioning Shahoodu's COI disclosure in Kerala Blasters FC talk page [71] and searched a bit to see what exactly is the nature of this COI. On the same day that Shahoodu made the COI declaration, they had made this comment in Drat8sub's talk page: Thank you for your positive response.I am just representing behalf of whole Manjappada Community. The higher authority just asked me how is our progress of wikipedia page going. So I just wanted to remind you about the page. Its almost a month.I understood you were busy because you were not seen for the past few days. The whole Manjappada group hope you will do this as soon as possible. And once again thank you for you response.

This Manjappada is a Kerala Blasters FC fan group. The sockmaster account Sulshanamoodhi had created Draft:Manjappada Kerala Blasters Fans, which is currently salted because of repeated recreation (see deletion discussion). Shahoodu has made 160 edits to the Manjappada article. Shahoodu was tagged as having COI to the Manjappada by AngusWOOF [72]. Kashmorwiki has not declared COI and made 82 edits to Kerala Blasters FC and 10 edits to Manjappada. Now that it is confirmed that Shahoodu and Kashmorwiki are the same person, this makes the deception more serious. What is more concerning is that even after being asked by DanCherek as to the nature of COI, Kashmorwiki did not mention their connection to Manjappada at all and just said they are a big fan of kbfc [73]. Given their failure to acknowledge their connection to Manjappada even after being blocked, I don't personally think it is a good idea to unblock at this time. I hope this helps any Administrator to make their decision on the unblock appeal. ಮಲ್ನಾಡಾಚ್ ಕೊಂಕ್ಣೊ (talk) 17:51, 8 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I cannot close this unblock request, since I did the last one, however this account has been formally globally locked for evading a global lock on their previous account. RickinBaltimore (talk) 16:50, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Question No.1-- Is there just trivial mention in this👆 news about Deepak Rawat or the entire news article is about Deepak Rawat IAS?

After (answer) this I'll give more links and questions. Because on deletion page you were not answering on my questions. There editors are just voting, don't wany conversation. Conversation makes things clear. One shouldn't run away from discussion. So just let start it here.

Mass G5 nomination due to personal issues

[edit]

Hello Phil Bridger, it seems Wareon is taking revenge on me by placing G5 tag on most of the well sources articles I created. They might be doing it because of this [74]. Please tell them to stop do it unnecessarily for personal reasons. Just because I got blocked doesnt mean that well sourced articles should be deleted. The user has also put G5 for politicians who passes NPOL which indicates this is done on bad faith. I have created 95 articles so far among which only my first one has been deleted so far. If someone else is seeing this, please do help. Kichu🐘 Need any help? 09:37, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:BMB. You should know it does not matter how good/bad your edits were. They can be reverted or tagged with the reason alone that it were made by the user who was evading block. Also see WP:PROXYING and don't ask others to make edits for you while you are blocked. Abhishek0831996 (talk) 11:01, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Abhishek0831996. OK Understood. But let me tell you one thing. As per WP:G5, it applies to articles created by blocked users, which have no substantial contribution by others. So how does this comes under that. Lets leave this aside. My question is why is this user nominating articles about Indian International footballers and Member of Legislative Assemblies who clearly passes NFOOTY and NPOL. I agree with you that all these comes under G5. But there is something called AGF. With all respect, I think this user does not know about NPOL or NFOOTY. If they does, these much articles about International footballers and MLA's would not have been tagged under G5 when all of them clearly passes SNG from the first look itself. The user even tagged an article for CSD which was not created by me. So naturally, what else should come up in my mind? I agree that I'm blocked. But from my experience, an editor who assumes good faith wont never tag a well sourced article for CSD even if comes under G5. I agree with some of the articles they tagged. But my concern jn regarding those who clearly passes NFOOTY and NPOL. And by the way, I havent asked anyone to make edits for me. I just requested them to have a look at my request. Again my comment got misinterpretated here. Regards. Kichu🐘 Need any help? 12:05, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Kashmorwiki: However G5 also states 'When a blocked or banned person uses an alternate account (sock-puppet) to avoid a restriction, any pages created via the sock account after the block or ban of the primary account qualify for G5 (if not substantially edited by others); this is the most common case for applying G5.' - That being said, the example you gave is correct and I have contested it, removing the G5 request - RichT|C|E-Mail 13:48, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You are linking the banning policy not the blocking policy, and Kashmorwiki was blocked, not banned, so that doesn't really apply here as far as I can tell. ( And I don't see them getting banned by the community at this point in time.)Jackattack1597 (talk) 18:39, 7 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@kylietastic I am so sorry I misread the situation. Is having those dates there needed? Positiveilluminati (talk) 18:21, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Positiveilluminati the citation style is standard - the reason is to give as much information about the source so it can be found again, and also when something is written can sometimes affect the meaning of a source - i.e. was it written before, just after or long after an event. You will find the same style on many articles - it just uses Template:Cite web currently used on over 3.8 million articles. Instead of the raw urls you had it just adds details of the titles, website, dates etc. Cheers KylieTastic (talk) 18:33, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
