== Re Lol ==

Funny. I only hit that article cos it stood out as the one article left for the month, but no copyedit tag when you went there. Is that a known problem with the multi-issue tag? I was about to report it at [[Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Backlog elimination drives/March 2011]], so hopefully someone can get it fixed. --[[User:Jjron|jjron]] ([[User talk:Jjron|talk]]) 13:05, 16 March 2011 (UTC)

Misunderstanding

Chaosdruid:

I think there's been a misunderstanding. I took special care to preserve your edits, since they were all prescient. The previous editor, however, had deleted far too much, and too suddenly (rather than in increments). His intention was obviously good, but it was too much to do without consensus, or even a simple suggestion. I merely restored deleted material which was already there.

Let me emphasize that I surgically re-inserted your edits while preparing mine, and that many of his were kept as well. Because what I restored had been there for over a year (at least), and because readers were probably accustomed to that approximate layout, we should perhaps put the article back to that last version of mine (with your edits), and I would strongly support you in any further typo and redlink fixes you'd make. I'd probabably be amenable to deleting some of the more flowery language, as well, but ask only that you ask me, if you'd like to delete entire paragraphs or sections.

Let me know what you think.

All the best, Sherlock4000 (talk) 21:00, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Argentina

Chaosdruid, as I've written in the talk page of Argentina, I'm at pains to explain that no part of the article was wiped out, deleted, nuked, or otherwise. I believe it's only logical to continue the expansion of, say, the culture section in the Culture of Argentina article while reducing the section itself, to keep the main article from ballooning in size (which it did, time and time again).--LK 21:18, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

Reply on Talk:Argentina Chaosdruid (talk) 21:33, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hello again.
Choasdruid, your edits were excellent, and I wouldn't change a thing about them. If I left one out, do please reinsert it, along with anything else that might need your fine-tuning. My qualms were only with the other editor's large excisions.
I restored some of these, but respected LK's cuts where the info was clearly repetitive (particularly in the Economy and Economic History sections).
Thanks again, Sherlock4000 (talk) 21:29, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Chaosdruid:
I'm working on them as we speak.
Sherlock4000 (talk) 21:45, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Chaos (Druid?), I think I finally restored all of your edits. Can we now please talk about cuts? I'm looking at the demography and culture section. And, I liked them better before.--LK 22:23, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
I beg your pardon, but I deleted nothing of yours in my last couple of edits, except for a hidden phrase in "Etymology" that LK himself labeled as implausible (I can assure you it's nonsense). I took care to change nothing of yours.
Look, the "economy" section is grossly repetitive, the IAPI poster irrelevant (that may belong in "Economic History of Argentina," or in an article about the agency itself), and the creator of blood transfusions and the Nobel Prize winner should be there instead of the Leloir Institute (which bears mention, but not a photo in exclusion of those others). You'll find that my version covers all the ups and downs in fewer words, and with more focus on the key turning points (my parents are Argentine, so they and their parents actually lived through many of them).
Thanks again for your interest. Most people here in the U.S. don't know where Argentina is, much less about its people and stories.
Sherlock4000 (talk) 23:21, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Chaosdruid:

You certainly know how to talk to people. You've convinced me that the article is in good hands, and I will defer to you in general. I ask only that you ank LK keep cuts to a reasonable minimum, and that you at least consider my version of the economy and its history (I'll add it to the talk page).

You mentioned Perón and Argentina's fall from grace. The damage in the country's reputation owed far less to his welcoming Nazis (a policy started shared by the U.S. in Operation Paperclip, as well as the U.S.S.R.) , as it did to his nationalizing the country's cereal export business. You see, the move cost leading landowners millions, and they retaliated by both squirreling money in Uruguay (they still do), and by turning Washington and London policymakers against Argentina (shortsightedly hoping this would lead to his overthrow).

The name of the agency he created to monopolize grain exports? You guessed it...IAPI.

Considering what you mentioned, perhaps the poster was à propos after all.

Thanks again for your time and trouble.

DYKCHECK

You can find out more about this tool on Wikipedia:DYKCHECK. It's mostly used to check whether an article has been expanded five-fold in a given number of days, which is a requirement for WP:DYK eligibility. On the other hand, it can also be used as a simple word counter.-- LK 23:30, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I tried Prose Size, and the end result is very similar. But what should we do about the article? I added some calculations for the demography section as well and I'm more convinced than ever that those two section are too large, and that something should be done to fix this.--LK 23:49, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
Can you use the current version of the economy section as a basis for further edits, since it's the larger of the two?--LK (talk) 00:28, 12 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, I'll refrain from editing the mainspace Argentina article until you are around. I'm confident that Sherlock will do the same.--LK (talk) 00:35, 12 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Druid! Just wanted to let you know that I'm back. If you have time to work on the article Argentina, I'm available.--LK (talk) 17:23, 12 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Help request

The Guild of Copy Editors needs your help!

As you already know, the Guild of Copy Editors has a Requests page where editors can list their articles to request a copy edit. During January and February, the requests have been arriving at the rate of several every day, and we are getting a bit behind! As one of our prolific editors and a January winner of a leaderboard award, we are hoping you can spare some time to help us get caught up. If you are interested in lending a hand, please select one or two articles from our Requests page and do a copy edit. Help a little or a lot; it's good karma! Thank you very much for any assistance you can offer.

Aldo Moro

Thanks so much... --'''Attilios''' (talk) 18:21, 12 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I think one can learn much of Italy's true history from Moro's end. Well, the opinion I got is that until 1974 there was a wave of "black" (post fascist) terrorism (one example: Piazza Fontana bombing), led mostly by Carabinieri's officers (most also of anticommunist stance) in the Italian intelligence. Then the "black" terrorists were discredited... curiously, one the "black" was overthrown by their masters (and in fact they reacted killing many Carabinieri), Mario Moretti took the lead of Red Brigades after that the previous leaders (Renato Curcio and Alberto Franceschini) had been timely arrested. Curiously, Moretti had been informed that they could be arrested, but did not warm them. Moretti also came from a right-wing family and had relationships in the "black" nobility. For me it's clear that he was infiltrated: let's look at his judicial fate. Franceschini, who had revealed many things and did not fire a single shot, got out of prison a few months before Moretti, officially sentenced to six life punishments!!! Some say that the computer firm in which he currently works is nothing but a façade used to "reward" former collaborators of Italian intelligence. Returning to Moro, for me it's also clear that after a while the BR gave him to another organization, likely the Banda della Magliana, who finally killed him as decided by DC's right and post-fascist officers of the intelligence; in exchange, instead of being arrested, BR gave the silence about Moro's revelations. To be cleared the sinister role of Senzani, a Florentine intellectual I did not mention in the article (he was perhaps the director of Moretti's questions to Moro), and, like Moretti, was perhaps another infiltrated of the intelligence. It's clear that there was a substantial convergence of wills desiring Moro's death after his capture. He perhaps condemned himself by writing that he was revealing many secrets he should not speak of, like Gladio (whose existence was publicly spoken only after the Soviet Union's dissolution, in 1991). In the end, he was a victim of militarization of BR led by Senzani and Moretti, substantially the new puppets of the strategy of tension in Italy under the Carabinieri/Propaganda Due intelligence. Once the Italy really decided to wipe out the terrorism, in the mid-1980s, they had an easy game with it. Hope I didn't confuse you more... --'''Attilios''' (talk) 19:09, 12 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Ciao! Thank you for your nice help... So, as for the lake, I think it's very small and unimportant (I'm from Rome too but never heard of it before reading about Moro affair), thus we could leave the Lago della Duchessa name. For what concerns the involvement of Soviet secret services, surely they had some little role, but more in disinformation in increasing the supposed role of CIA in the matter. I think Moro's kidnapping was 100% triggered by Italian organizations, from the intelligence-infiltrated BR (Moretti is always pivotal), to P2 and the Italian intelligence itself. I doubt that a government with PCI would be less corrupted than its predecessors. The proof is that, once in 1990s former Communists came to government they proved incompetent and corrupted as any Christian Democratic or Socialist before them!! Ciao and good work!

Argentina Changes

Actually I simply didn't notice that you were around, you should have dropped me a message. Anyway, any step taken to reduce the article's size to a more acceptable level is extremely welcome from my point of view. Though I still think that it's the culture section the one with the most fat to cut. If Sherlock also agrees with your changes, I'd say it can be moved to mainspace immediately.--LK (talk) 19:06, 14 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Chaosdruid:
I added my proposed changes to the Economy section. I feel these would say more with fewer words, and stick to the critical turning points while still leaving in the most important recent developments (readers would be referred to Economic history of Argentina for any further curiousity they may have on the subject). I'd leave out the IAPI poster, because it is an anachronism that had a noteworthy but fleeting effect on the history (it was dissolved in 1956, and never returned). The British investment in port facilities and rail networs from 1876 to 1914, on the other hand, were a transforming experience that continues to shape the economy today. The nation's population largely spread out along the rail lines, and these and other British investments made the possible much of what drives the nation's economy to this day (particularly where its export profile is concerned).
I added mention of the Leloir Institute to the sci-tech section, but believe that the two historical images, plus that of the satellite (which by Argentine standards, was a milestone achievement), would recap the section's main points better.
Let me know if anything else occurs to you.

Argentina

When you're creating a separate "work page" to keep proposed changes to an article out of the way, you should actually do that in a sandbox page rather than in articlespace. So I just wanted to let you know that I've moved your page to User:Chaosdruid/Argentina/Changes instead; it needs to remain in your own userspace until you're ready to copy and paste the finished text back into the real article. Thanks. Bearcat (talk) 23:56, 17 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm updating the links right now; I prefer to do things like that in AWB rather than manually, so that I don't miss any. Formally, our standing practice is that only pages which are actually meant to function as real articles should be in articlespace, while temporary pages and draft updates and other such work should be kept in projectspace — but you're right, I'm not sure if any of our written policies actually communicate that as clearly as they should. Sharpe characters

Well To be fair, they are not going to be deleted. Merge to list is the popular vote, ignoring the requirements of an article... where they will sit unreferenced for eternity. I actually have no idea how to do a mass AFD at present, perhaps you could do that as a favour?RAIN*the*ONE BAM 16:36, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'd never heard of them before, I'll be honest. It was because another user created a new article with no sources, he does it all the time for non notable characters and goes off in a right huff when I merge it back. I ended up making the sourced article myself to please him (ten sources after hours of scouting). So i presume these are the same. But a quick look on google shows for atleast two, there isn't that much anymore in reliable third party sources. I figured they are fans too. It just needs editors that are not fans of the show to assess them. BTW I too have only done single AFD .. oh dear. :) There's been mass AFD's before, then they can't create them until it they have sourced content, it's actually worked for some projects on WP hasn't it. So I wish I could do that.RAIN*the*ONE BAM 16:55, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Copyedit

Thanks alot for telling me this, I have to articles which are waiting for a copyedit (but I haven't posted them seeing that I don't want to "strangle" the GCE!) Anyhow, thanks for letting me know; I might take you up on that pestering part! ;p --TIAYN (talk) 22:50, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

South America needs you. Again.

Hi Chaosdruid, the article about Uruguay has seen a large number of edits over the last couple of days (I happen to be responsible for most of them), virtually no section was left untouched. I don't see this article becoming a FA any time soon, but I'm mostly satisfied with the current revision, though so far the only comments have been from an anonymous user who finds the lexical similarity between Uruguay and "urgay" hilarious enough to justify the blanking of the article (I don't blame him, I blame this guy here). In any case, after this drastic alteration the article could use the attention of an experienced copy editor for a very quick, very informal review. Can you think of one? ;)--LK (talk) 22:52, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If you mean the parts copy-pasted from the Library of Congress and the US Department of Labour they should be acceptable, since US government works are in public domain.--LK (talk) 22:43, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That would require checking this UNESCO CD published 10 years ago just to ascertain whether the people at the Dept. of Labour got lazy and copypasted their work on the government website. Even if we really were to do that, and found a copyvio, I think that would hardly invalidate all your work so far. The other two sources you reported on the talk page as possible copyvios (from the Congressional Research Service and the U.S. Library of Congress) are unambiguously in public domain. Besides, even if they weren't, is the similarity between the original and the wiki article strong enough to violate their copyright?--LK (talk) 23:26, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
There was no luck involved, if you check the references you will see that half of them are from the US Department of This&That or the LOC. Anyway, since you're done with the copyediting, do you have any preference for a particular barnstar? I was thinking the Uruguayan National Barnstar, from the name it sounds appropriate.--LK (talk) 23:43, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Double Helix Bridge
[1]

Greetings! I edit (and find and provide photos) for the biographies of musicians, almost exclusively. However, in my searches on photographer's websites, occasionally something will just stand out, and I gain permissions for those photos as well, asking the photographers to give up their copyright, in exchange for a Creative Commons license. William Cho's work is so exceptional that I secured permission from him for a variety of photos, including the bridge above, and several others- which-- I think all were uploaded to Commons in a Category : Buildings in Singapore. He's a great person, and I really think you should contact him.. I have his email address. If he has more photos for the articles you mentioned, I'm sure he'll be happy to provide them. I myself recognize great photography but have limited myself mostly, to the 900 photos or so I uploaded and placed on the biography articles- mainly in en.Wikipedia but some other language versions too. Let me know if I can be of help. --Leahtwosaints (talk) 05:46, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks a lot. Can you explain further the procedure regarding legal threats. I haven't added any incorrect information on the page. Most of the things that are on the article right now were already there when I started editing it. I just tried to remove the unencyclopedic and unsourced material per WP:BLP. That person who is claiming to be Aryan Vaid is using random IP addresses. I think a semi-protection of the page will be helpful. Regards --- Managerarc talk 09:33, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Loretta

I've always known my Grammar is less than perfect, but I try my best (Which is usually not too good). The part about Holly can be removed. She was with this guy who nearly killed his child, Holly went missing for weeks and they did a big missing person SL. Jake was a suspect, if Loretta's child killer thing had gone ahead, she would have been in the frame too. So I guess it isn't relevant.RAIN*the*ONE BAM 20:58, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I can read Spanish/Portuguese to some extent, though no better than I can English. From reading that document you linked me, I understand that it is about the creation of a writing system for the Ngobe-Buglé of Panama, while the Kogi are from Colombia. What am I missing?--LK (talk) 09:39, 26 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'd be happy to help you CD (and I mean it), it's just that I can't understand what is it that you're looking for in that document. I didn't find any mention of either Kogi or Kogui in the document you linked me, or even in the website of the university of Siena. The document is in Spanish, and is about a writing system for the Buglere language spoken in Panama. No word about the Kogi anywhere.--LK (talk) 17:33, 26 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Within that document, "Kogi" and "Kogui" are used interchangeably, but they are always invariable in number ("con 6.926 kogi"; "1.662 kogui"). The names of the tribe are reported as ""Kogi, kággaba, köggaba", the self-appellations as "kogi" (jaguar); "kaggaba (for the ethnic group); kogian (for the language, though the usage is inconsistent, there are several mention of a "lengua kogui"). In other words, there doesn't appear to be a strict difference between "kogi" and "kogui". The few English language sources within the document seem to prefer the "kogi" spelling, but they're not numerous enough to draw a significant conclusion. I hope this helps. Let me know if there's something else I can do!--LK (talk) 18:13, 26 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Great job and thank you!

Hey Chaosdruid!

I saw you've been continuing the work on the home page even before I was able to get to it (especially with all those nice tabs) I wanted to thank you! They look great and I think we're going to end up with a lot more organized set up which is important now that we've cluttered up that talk page with reams of text :) I'm thinking we may want to throw tabs on the talk page as well (or a menu?) since so many people are checking back there now for easy navigation. I'm going to think if I can come up with anything else but don't wait for me! keep being bold! Jalexander--WMF 22:11, 28 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Each guide can only have 9 daughter tabs, so depending on how many guides there were was the iussue
We could do it A-Z or you may be better off collecting individual peoples pages and transcluding them onto secret pages for example (if confidentiality is required)
So if you edit the section I put my yellow bar in, you can put those few lines of code anywhere on en-wiki and it will update in real time, well at least with a page refresh it will.
Are you guys on IRQ, I am just got stuck trying to help with a pic copyright issue when trying to see if anyone was on there lol Chaosdruid (talk) 23:30, 28 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I am agnostic on whether the guides should have tabs - I tend to think no, because I'm worried about the scalability of it. A master page with links to userspace pages that each guide hosts, perhaps... but if this trial works out, we'll probably look into some technology to support it a little better. Hi

I need an admin, or experienced user, to review. I am trying to keep the page and talk page NPOV and need to know if I was correct in my actions.

The page John_Hunyadi and the section dealing with the disputes are Talk:John_Hunyadi#H._Munro_Chadwick and where I made my declaration of NPOV Talk:John_Hunyadi#H._Munro_Chadwick (near the end of the section).

In particular the 2RR statement as well as wanting to make sure I have not acted incorrectly in reverting.

If you are not customarily logged into the IRC, use this link. This under used resource can allow real time discussion at this particularly timely venture of the trial known as Pending Changes. Even if nothing can come from debating points there, at least this invitation is delivered with the best of intentions and good faith expectations. Kind regards. Lists of robots

Hi.

Thank you for usefull informations on my talk page :)

Now I need your opinion - I would like to create lists of robots (here is prototype: List of hexapod robots).

Images look nice, but when there will many robots the page might get very long. The solution might be to divide such lists when they get bigger (ex. spiders, cockroaches, insects, etc.).

Isn't this list too detailed (too many columns), or would you rather add even more informations to it?

And what you think about mentioning different versions of specific robot, ex. LAURON I, LAURON II, LAURON III, LAURON IV - should I just put LAURON? But in this case we are loosing ability to easy compare such robots - after all they are part of robotic history :-)

What do you think?

SC-42 deletion

I got your note. Yes, "keep just in case." Just in case of what I am not sure; in case there actually people interested in the world in what I'm putting on Wikipedia? There's a thought! I'm trying to fill in the blanks in Wikipedia, and doing so harms no one, and yet I've got the Wikipedia equivalent of the neighborhood association telling me I can't do what I'm doing and they're going to delete my work, even though my work is good work, hurts no one, and benefits many people trying to look stuff up. Wikipedia is supposed to be about collaborative building of the Web, not about deleting what people have built. And who says who gets to decide, providing there is no malfeasance or inaccuracy? Yours truly is getting pretty disillusioned about Wikipedia. Mdnavman (talk) 23:34, 3 March 2011 (UTC)mdnavman[reply]

Chesapeake

Hi Chaosdruid. I couldn't remember where we had that conversation about the Chesapeake so I thought I would drop a line here. I addressed a couple of your concerns from the article talk page and made note of what I did. I also did another round of copy edits:

  • I added serial commas throughout, as the author had a mixture of both styles
  • Other punctiation fixes were done (mostly the dreaded commas)
  • I re-worded some awkward and/or unclear sentences
  • Some sentences were split in two as they were too long. If the second part of a sentence introduces a new idea, that's the place to make the split.
  • I added locations on a couple of the cites using info from Worldcat.org
  • Dab solver showed no links to disambiguation pages
  • One dead link was found and marked
  • Dashes and empty spaces were fixed using two scripts

I am pretty sure we are done here but whether it's enough for FA is still an open question. I will continue to watch-list and we will see what happens. Thank you for tackling this article. --Diannaa (Talk) 18:21, 5 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Hey

Hey again, and again, sorry for my last comment. Because an article about the office itself could never evolve into more than a stub, or at least, a start-class article at best + I need the text to nominate the list to FL. If I would have had enough information I would have done it. But again, I only reference articles with English literature, for all I know Russian literature may be filled with info regarding the office of First Deputy. --TIAYN (talk) 22:05, 5 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The majority of those sources talk about the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation + only one of the source talk about the post and it's duties the other sources just says a person was demoted or appointed to the First Deputyship without actually telling the reader what a First Deputy does. So no there is still not going to be any separate article and yes, I've searched through the whole Google Books Archive and I've not been able to find any valuable info to create a stand alone article. --TIAYN (talk) 22:53, 5 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It's not enough to create a seperate article, and the "Detail on the powers" ref is about the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and not the Soviet First Deputy. There's no point in creating a stub-article, It won't be usefull and it will never feel entirely complete. That's the main reason for the merger of the main article and the list . --TIAYN (talk) 07:18, 6 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I have a plan, let's both of us try to locate some sources which talks about the office in details; e.g. duties, functions and responsibilities and create a section for it at the Council of Ministers page (which I've been working on lately). If we are able to locate enough sources, and create a large enough text, we can create a separate article. Those that sound okay with you? --TIAYN (talk) 08:35, 6 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - thanks for the tea, do you have any butter?

I can only speak by my personal experience so far, but it has been around an hour so far per week, give or take 15 mins.

Most of that time has been writing the emails and checking to see if they have edited every day.

Chaosdruid (talk) 07:26, 6 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That seems reasonable. I could commit to that. Thanks. And the scones is a nice idea - I'll supply the butter if you have some strawberry jam. SilkTork *YES! 10:27, 7 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed your request for assistance on the John_Hunyadi article. Seems there has been some ongoing discussion regarding ethnic matters on that article. If you need specific advice or assistance at any point, let me know, and I'll see what I can do. SilkTork *YES! 11:44, 7 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Status Bar 2

My status bar won't work if I don't add |CURRENT STATUS (replacing CURRENT STATUS with, say, "Online" for example). Can you help trace the problem? I tried to install Qui but that didn't work. It's really annoying 'cos I have to edit my page every time I want to change the status. Oh, I hope you think my signature complies with the guideline.--The Master of Mayhem 15:19, 7 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed it now. I use a different status template on my page now.--The Master of Mayhem 16:05, 7 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Oustside my area of knowledge I'm afraid. However, Flight magazine has all issues from 1909 to 2005 online. Suggest using "Pullinger" as a search term, and search one year at a time. Mjroots (talk) 06:58, 8 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Self-discipline, dear boy! Self-discipline! Yes, it's easy to get distracted. Do you have access to The Times online archive (library card?), as that may also prove to be useful as a source. Mjroots (talk) 07:25, 8 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
To cite from Flight use {{cite journal}} in the format <ref name=Flightddmmyy>{{cite journal|title=(article title) |journal=Flight |issue=(date in full) |page=p(page number) |url=(url of scan)}}</ref>, replacing text in brackets with the relevant info. See Lympne Airport for examples in use. Flight changed its name to Flight International in the early 1960s. Mjroots (talk) 11:18, 8 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A tip

Hi.

If you want to install scripts try using the MonoBook skin. All scripts I've installed worked on the skin.--The Master of Mayhem 19:49, 8 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Lympne Airport

RAF Lympne has now been split from Lympne Airport, and the latter article culled of much military material relating to squadrons based there etc, but events such as change of status left in. Mjroots (talk) 08:56, 9 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I was always taught that a comma denoted where a pause was needed, usually to enable the speaker to take a breath. Hence the use of a comma after a date. The two sentences re the HP.42 could be rewritten completely, with perhaps extra info added to the latter sentence. Mjroots (talk) 15:38, 11 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Punctuation Nazi? No! I appreciate the work you've put in on the article. You may be surprized to learn that I hope this can get to FA in due course. GA is hopefully the first step of this. Ok, we've got a minor difference of opinion over this, but that ain't going to spoil things. I've asked Jezhotwells to give the article another look over and raise any new issues so that they can be addressed. Mjroots (talk) 15:57, 11 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

UK aircraft registrations

Believe it or not, my speciality is wind and watermills. I have interests across a number of subjects including, but not limited to, railways, civil aviation, merchant ships, motorsport, local history - particularly that relating to Kent. I like to think I can bash out an article on pretty much any subject if there are sources available to do so.

In answer to your query re the K- registrations, these were a temporary series created in 1919 for new aircraft. The series ran from K-100 to K-175 before is was discontinued on the introduction of the G-E series in May 1919. K-126 became G-EAFO, it was written off in an accident of 3 September 1925. Templates

Hi!

Not a big problem, but when you are editing templates, you are adding two line breaks before <noinclude> tag, and this causes a free space between different templates on articles pages. I've already corrected my own templates. Danim2 (talk) 22:48, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

GOCE / Mid-drive newsletter

Guild of Copy Editors March 2011 backlog elimination drive

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors March 2011 Backlog elimination drive! Here is your mid-drive newsletter.

Participation
GOCE March 2011 backlog elimination drive progress graphs

So far, 79 people have signed up for this drive. Of these, 64 have participated. Interest is high due to a link to our event from the Watchlist page, and many new and first-time copy editors have joined us for the drive. If you signed up for the drive but haven't participated yet, it's not too late! Try to copy edit at least a few articles. Remember, if you have rollover words from the last drive, you will lose them if you do not participate in this drive. If you haven't signed up for the drive yet, you can sign up now. Many thanks to those editors who have been helping out at the Requests page. We have assisted in the promotion of seven articles to Good article status so far this month.

Progress report

We have already achieved our target of reducing the overall backlog by 10%; however, we have more work to do with the 2009 backlog. We have almost eliminated May 2009 and we only have some 700 articles left from 2009. It is excellent progress, so let's concentrate our fire power on the remaining months from 2009. Thank you for participating in the March 2011 drive. We anticipate it will be another big success!

GOCE coordinator

Hi Chaosdruid, Following The Utahraptor's resignation as a GOCE coordinator, I am writing to invite you to be co-opted as a Guild coordinator. One of the main areas where we need help is in the Membership department. Let me know if this is something that you would like to do. Of course, feel free to drop me a note if you have any questions. Funny. I only hit that article cos it stood out as the one article left for the month, but no copyedit tag when you went there. Is that a known problem with the multi-issue tag? I was about to report it at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Backlog elimination drives/March 2011, so hopefully someone can get it fixed. --jjron (talk) 13:05, 16 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
