== Your message ==

Thank you for your message. I'm sorry, but having been held up to ridicule puclicly, I won't be staying. I've never ever experienced anything like it. I don't work that hard for nothing to then have shit thrown at me from every angle. So Wikipedia ''will'' lose me, and I'm so angry about it that I'm more likely to bag it long and hard on the net from the outside. That would be to return a fraction of the vindictiveness I've endured over the last four days.

In particular, I've lost confidence in the FA procedure: I was struck by the slackness of the procedure, which is why I've laboured to improve the guidelines and the way in which they're implemented. The fact that my execution is based on my objection to the promotion of a seriously substandard article is just more salt in the wound. Why would I stay after that?

The pity is that had Redwolf not (kindly) nominated me, I'd still be here, beavering away to make WP a better thing, probably in the long term. Now, the opposite will happen. I'm extremely upset and bitter about it.

Help!

Hi Mindspillage! Thanks for closing one of my recent AfD/copyvivo articles I posted. I recently added another one here, and I think I need some help with monitoring it. To say the least, it is a complete mess. An anonymous user is also changing its content inappropriately and in a very sneaky manner, very hard to keep track! If you could help out, please let me know, as I'm sensing that things are already on the brink of being precariously out of hand...--HappyCamper 22:57, 2 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for getting back to me! I recently protected both pages undergoing deletion, and will be posting an explanation and rationale for it on the AfD. Once I'm done that, I'll head over to WP:AN and see what others have to say. WP:VIP doesn't seem to be an option because the edits are done very sporadically, and have been sucessfully reverted by other Wikipedians. However, recently there were a few rather very sneaky edits by sockpuppets to the images done in a manner to add pornographic material to the page. I've deleted those images on the grounds of incompatibility with the GFDL. Thanks for adding it to your watchlist - I really appreciate it! --HappyCamper 23:29, 2 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Mindspillage. Thank you so much for your support and kind words on my bureaucratship nomination. Unfortunately, it didn't pass, but I intend to run again soon. Homeschooling

Good luck trying to keep the links down on Homeschooling. As you can see on its talk page, I cut its links down to ten or so back in May. Since then people have been simply re-adding their pet favorites one at a time, until it's grown to huge again. And each time you revert, you get flamed. Almost all the links are of the "you can do it" how-to variety, or political advocacy sites. —Wahoofive (talk) 23:18, 5 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

There. See [1] somebody's already added back their favorite site. It's a finger in the dike. —Wahoofive (talk) 21:38, 6 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Mindspillage, thanks for your vote on my recent RFA, your support was appreciated :) -- Joolz 11:35, 9 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks!

Thanks for the support on my RfA, and for the enthusiastic comment. I was very pleasantly surprised to see so much support throughout the week. To receive such support from admins that I respect the opinion of was very reassuring. Nevertheless, please do keep an eye on me and my logs, especially while I'm learning the ropes with the new buttons. Thanks again! -Splash 23:38, 9 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you…

…for the comment on my talk page. Unfortunately, the nature of my day job means my Wikibreak is not for reasons of relaxation - on the contrary, I am pleased to have been able to snatch some relaxation by doing some occasional RC patrol on the Wiki!

I hope I'm not reading too much into your message to take it as a kind offer of admin nomination; I'll give it some more thought and let you know after time pressures at work have diminished (next week I hope). I think the reversion tool would help me revert more vandalism (if you find it useful then I'm sure I would), and I can see other admin tasks around that I would gradually feel able to help with as my confidence grew.

In any case, you seeing me as admin material is a great fillip: I don't forget that you initially welcomed me, put up with some inconvenience brought on by my inexperience, and have helped see me through some Wiki-doldrums. (BTW, I admire your terrific work on articles, too!) --RobertGtalk 11:20, 13 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I've thought about your offer, and have decided that I agree to being nominated, with many thanks: I will dip my toe in the water with some trepidation and see how it goes! Do we need to liaise about times? For me, starting on a Mon, a Tue or a Wed would probably be most convenient. I'll leave it to your experience otherwise - and obviously, let me know what you do! --RobertGtalk 16:22, 20 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Lol - looking at our contribution histories, our Wiki-timezones don't really overlap, do they?! You're in Florida, so I take it you're UTC minus 4? I'm UTC plus 1. I can't be around after the next half hour until tomorrow. I can be around the Wiki tomorrow morning from around 9 (that's 4am your time, if my calculations are right) - what about posting it last thing tonight? However, there's no hurry. Whatever you think best, and at your convenience. Thanks again, sorry to make life complicated! --RobertGtalk 16:12, 21 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'd rather like to keep mine intact, thank you very much. My mind, I mean. I left you a present on your user page (not really). Anyway, just dropping by to say thanks for signing my user page. Very cool because I really like your style. (Were you implying I am a fad?) I worship Voting is Evil, by the way. Also, I just noticed at the top of this page that you have been graced with the presence of Andrew Lin/the Soda Vandal. I guess we have that in common; he struck at my user and talk pages today. Interestingly, if you care, I contacted his university a while ago and they closed off his access, but now they tell me he's graduated, and so he seems to be coming back with dynamic Comcast IPs now. New Enya album

Turns out the reports of a new album are in fact true as Roma Ryan announced it yesterday on the enya.com forum (I moderate the Enya Yahoo Group). I think where the confusion comes from is the fact that the main enya.com homepage hasn't been updated since sometime in 2004 - when there was indeed a false report of a new album coming out. blocked user Pazuzu413's images

Hi I see you blocked this user on the 18th Sept., I just came across two of this person's images at random both without sources noted which seems to be the case for all their images. Most of the images seem to come from googling, I tracked one Image:Zane.jpg down to [2] (via imdb) would this be considered fair use? I am wondering if it wouldn't just be easier to just delete all the images this user uploaded automatically (if that's possible). Arnie587 14:22, 27 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I just picked one of their images at random Image:Shinz.jpg they have tagged it as fair use screenshot but again no source is given, I tracked it down to an image on imdb here [3] which states underneath "© 2002 - Paramount Pictures Corporation - All Rights Reserved" shall I tag this as fair use promo or put up for deletion? Arnie587 14:39, 27 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Ditto Image:Die2.jpg from Yahoo (Photo: Keith Hamshere) [[4]Arnie587 14:54, 27 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Ditto Image:Mfrost.jpg from imdb (Photo by Keith Hamshere - © 2002 DANJAQ, LLC AND UNITED ARTISTS CORPORATION. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED) [5]Arnie587 15:03, 27 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Ditto Image:Boris.jpg from official James Bond site again it's tagged as a screenshot [6]Arnie587 15:16, 27 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Pazuzu's images reply

Hi, thanks for your response... I will tag them as promo if I find the source... are all the images on imdb fair use (they include photos of stars at premieres etc. as well as posed shots from the movies)? Also what about associated press photos (non promo)? Arnie587 18:57, 27 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi I was just thinking about it and I'm not sure that all photos of stars at premieres could be considered promo as many are taken by independent photographers or agencies which aren't connected to the subject or their employer (movie or music company), so they are not promoted by the artist or artists employer but are offered for sale by private individuals or companies? Arnie587 19:22, 27 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Blocking procedures

Wow, thanks! I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes a gentle touch. I have sometimes found it frustrating in the past when I'm doing just fine cleaning up after a newbie, I've gently pointed out that the edits aren't productive but haven't yet given a real warning, and another admin decides to save me the trouble and block the newbie for vandalism. Ah well. moink 02:03, 4 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Watch out

When changing the pictures to the main page, please be mindful to protect the new picture. Otherwise, it's an invitation for a vandal to put a big penis on the main page. →Raul654 03:35, 5 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Meeting place for music related stuff?

I was asking around for a meeting place for people interested in music related stuff, and was pointed in your direction... so here I am. Do you know if there is a project, or portal, or anything else where people with an interest in music meet? At Swedish Wikipedia we have both. Here at enwiki I feel a bit at a loss... after all this time. / Habj 18:57, 5 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

My main interest is Nordic traditional music/folk music, in a wide sense of the word, musical instruments of various kinds and some jazz. Hmm... at svwiki we have a musicp ortal that is very ugly, where people list articles they write and that they feel needs work on. It is a natural meeting point for all of us who write in the field, and has kind of replaced the music project. Since the music portal here already is a pretty one mainly for readers not for editors, I guess a notice board would be better. I'll start checking the music project here, though. Thanks! / Habj 00:18, 6 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The spillage of your mind at RfC

Hey kat in the hat. I just noticed your mind spillage at Snowspinner's RfC. I just wanted to tell you that I am often struck by the fact that you always seem to say things which need saying, and with which I agree, and in this case I get to "endorse". I have no objections to my block being removed. I'm not connected with Wb's RFC against Redwolf24. The reason I gave him a week was that he's been a disruptive editor many times before and has had longer blocks for it before, and I want him to get the message that there are quite a number of admins who have reached their limit of tolerance for his behavour. I think this message has been delivered, despite the block being lifted, although I'm not sure if he'll take it onboard.-gadfium 07:41, 11 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations "o' splillage of the mind" on your appointment. Hmm..., Awaiting a double treat on Sunday. :) User:Nichalp/sg 08:20, 12 October 2005 (UTC)

A highly suitable appointment - I'm sure you'll hit the right note. --RobertGtalk 18:10, 12 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Congrats on your ARBitration appointment! Though some have bemoaned the appointment as ARBitrary, I'm sure you'll wield your ARBalest of power well. (Will you run for re-election, I wonder, or accept an ARBituary at the end of the year?) We all wish you ARBest. – Quadell (talk) 19:48, 12 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure which to congratulate you on more, this or your Limerick on Geogre's talk page. So much talent under a single hat. Filiocht | The kettle's on 10:51, 13 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Seriously, though; you really should run for the ArbCom elections, too. I'd vote for you. Filiocht | The kettle's on 12:22, 14 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Mindspillage. Congrats on your recent appointment to the ArbCom! The Committee has just added another excellent member. Anyways, in case you haven't noticed, I'm writing a special series on the upcoming 2005 ArbCom elections for The Wikipedia Signpost. In the October 17 issue (next Monday), we will be profiling the current ArbCom members. Your appointment and Kelly Martin's appoinment caught me off guard, I have to admit: I had already given all the current ArbCom members some time to answer some of my questions. In addition, I understand that you've just been appointed and haven't had much time to form an insider's opinion of the ArbCom. Nevertheless, I hope you are willing to tell us how you feel about the ArbCom. I've tried my best to give you the same questions as I gave the other Arbitrators, but I've modified some of them slightly. Thus, I hope you don't mind answering a few questions. Many thanks!

1. Do you plan to run for re-election this year? Why or why not?
2. How do you feel about being appointed to serve on the ArbCom?
3. Right now, what do you think are the strengths of the ArbCom?
4. Weaknesses?
5. If you could change anything, what would you change? Why?
6. If you could say one thing to the current ArbCom candidates, what would you say, and why?
7. Do you think your job will be easy? Hard? Explain.
8. Do you feel that the ArbCom is appreciated by the community? If not, how do you think that could be changed?
9. What do you think will be the most frustrating thing about being on the ArbCom? Enjoyable?
10. Any other thoughts regarding your appoinment?

I hope you didn't mind me bombarding with you with questions; by no means feel obligated to answer all (or any) of them. Thanks for serving Wikipedia, and for taking your time to help a Signpost reporter! Flcelloguy | A note? | Desk | WS 14:03, 13 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Quartet for 4 violas, complete with an "A" harmonic at the end!

Hi Mindspillage. I wonder if you could tell me how you created that music file with 4 violas? I am interested in creating a certain Wikipedia:WikiProject GFDL Music on Wikipedia, and was wondering if you would be interested in helping out. Nothing as been set in stone, but there seems to be some interest in this (see the bottom of my talk page). Perhaps we can try and put together Eine Kleine Nachtmusik for Wikipedia? --HappyCamper 00:33, 14 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Mindspillage, I hate to rush you, especially with the short notice I gave you, but I'd really appreciate it if you were planning to answer any of those questions that you gave them to me as soon as possible, preferably by tomorrow. The Signpost article has to be turned in to our editor by 8pm Sunday (our time), and does require time to write, so I'd greatly appreciate it if you gave me your thoughts soon. Of course, I understand that you are busy; however, it would be greatly appreciated if you could answer some of those questions for The Signpost. Many thanks; I would be forever indebted to you :-).Congrats once again! Flcelloguy | A note? | Desk | WS 00:46, 15 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Mindspillage! I just wanted to deliver this week's issue of The Wikipedia Signpost, which features the current ArbCom, directly to your front door. :-) Also, if you wish to read your fellow Arbitrators' full and unabridged responses, you can find them here. P.S. I think I may be late for the party, but happy birthday anyways!

AfD on St. Joseph's Secondary School

Hey, I have a few thousands articles with ghost links from changed templates that I am null editing to fix. However, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/St. Joseph's Secondary School contains a hardlink to Category:British railway stations in the discussion, do you think it would be a problem if I changed the link to the new category name Category:Railway stations in the United Kingdom, since it basically is the same category referenced in the format of the discussion? I would normally just delete the category and leave the redlink on the archived AfD, but I have the issue of all of these other articles that need to be null edited, and it would take forever by hand, so there is no way for me to tell my bot to ignore the AfD page. Thanks. «»Who?¿?meta 06:57, 20 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Request

Hi Kat, I need a favor. Could serve as a mediator in the Talk Page of Miguel Piñero? There is a user that insists on deleting information that I believe are esscential to the article. I repesect your opinion and maybe you can talk to that person. Thank you. Tony the Marine 21:52, 21 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, Kat. I did what you recomended could you please take a look again and tell me what you think? Tony the Marine 23:55, 21 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You're right, thank you for unblocking him. I thought I was doing it the proper way, believing that he had violated the three revert rule. I now realize my dumb mistake. However, I would like to know if with the changes I made (some that he suggested from the beginning) if the article seems O.K. now and we can reach a compremise. Tony the Marine 03:35, 22 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank You

I have declared the dispute officially over since Dali and I came to a friendly understanding and shoke cyber-hands in friendship. I would like to thank you for serving as mediator. I asked you to do it because I know that you do not take sides. You are a very fair person. Take care Tony the Marine 00:01, 23 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, suuuuure!

Darn you, Kat! There I was with a perfect example of how eventualism fails, and you go and start working on it. (I'm delighted that it's getting improved, but I'm sorry to see my favorite counter-argument go. You've got to admit that two years is a long, long time for "eventually" and a poet who shows up in every Southern Literature class in every college in the world.) Blocked User

Hi you blocked User talk:Pazuzu413 on the 18th Sept. for uploading images without source. I spent ages tagging their images (many which have now been deleted) and posted messages on their user page which they deleted. I now think that that account was a sock puppet of User talk:The Belgain as they have the same behaviour and both interest in French subjects. Also User talk:The Belgain updated the copyright tag (incorrectly) of Image:Scottevil.jpg which was uploaded by User talk:Pazuzu413, and when I removed an unsourced image on the Daniel Day Lewis page uploaded by Pazuzu it was almost immediately replaced with another unsourced image by The Belgain. I have listed all their unsourced images on Belgains talk page, is there a easy way to mark these all these as no source as I can't be bothered to do it after last time. Thank you

Greetings! I hope you’re well. I would like to thank you for declining my request for arbitration and accept ArbComm’s decision unequivocally. Your decision, after all, demonstrates the validity – or not – of both my and Chris Bennett’s positions, while supporting neither, and the importance in Wp that users can diametrically differ yet still continue to grow Wikipedia. What was mildly irksome was how Arbs Fred Bauder and Kelly Martin characterised their decisions (particularly before CB submitted his statement), not the decisions themselves: as neutral third-party arbitrators, there is an expectation to not be diminutive and offer more indifferent or no commentary, as you and The Epopt have done.

As I’ve stated, I believe my decision to RfArb was and is correct but was not taken lightly: I opted for a “nuclear” option as I believe CBs behaviour required it, was escalatory, and would not change with other modes of resolution; I am familiar with them and garnering positive results. I am a paragon of neither virtue nor linguistics, and am not faultless. As I hope my long contribution history demonstrates, however, I’m not a “bully”, “racist”, or unilateral in nature (as CB has characterised me), having constructively worked with others to help enhance this ingenious project of community.

I will disengage from CB until the Big Crunch (if this event occurs, given current theory) and hereafter exercise more caution when discussing fallacious user decisions in the first place.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Thank you again for your consideration; take care!

Yours sincerely,

E Pluribus Anthony 04:14, 28 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Your message

Thank you for your message. I'm sorry, but having been held up to ridicule puclicly, I won't be staying. I've never ever experienced anything like it. I don't work that hard for nothing to then have shit thrown at me from every angle. So Wikipedia will lose me, and I'm so angry about it that I'm more likely to bag it long and hard on the net from the outside.
