Manga Bhama, better known by her stage name Bhanupriya, is a main stream Indian actress who has appeared in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam films from 1983 to 1993. She also acted in few Bollywood films in the 1990s. Her sister Shantipriya was also an actress.
Early life
Bhanupriya was born as Manga Bhama in Rangampeta village, near Rajamundry, Andhra Pradesh, on 15 January 1966 into a Telugu family. Her family settled in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
Personal life
Bhanupriya fell in love with Adarsh Kaushal, the son of U.S. based dancer Sumathi Kaushal, and married him in 1998 and re-located to the U.S. where she gave birth to a daughter Abhinaya in 2003. She got divorced from Kaushal in 2004 but continued to live in the U.S. till 2005. After her divorce form Kaushal, Bhanupriya is now living in Chennai along with her daughter.[1]
Film career
Bhanupriya has acted in around 150 films as a heroine in various languages. Bhanupriya began her film acting career when she was just 17. Her first film was Mella Pesungal (1983) in Tamil.[2] She made her Telugu debut with Sitaara, directed by veteran Vamsy. She has acted in over 80 Telugu films, about 40 Tamil films, 15 Hindi films and a few Malayalam and Kannada films.[2]

She had also acted in a television serial, Shakthi, shown over in Sun Network channels. She is famous for her expressions using her eyes, which led her to a career in modelling. Her most famous ad was of Eyetex, a popular eyeliner. Cinematographer and director P. C. Sreeram once described her as having the most beautiful and photogenic face among south Indian movie actresses.
