Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Kkvaigaiphoto1.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 04:49, 11 October 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Sri Sacchidananda Bharati I

Another editor has added the {{prod}} template to the article Sri Sacchidananda Bharati I, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. BJBot (talk) 04:59, 22 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

First, the references are not properly stated in the article. Secondly, the article is written like a propaganda. Do have a look at Wikipedia rules which prohibit the usage of this site for indulging in propaganda: WP:NOT. Thirdly, the article's tone is not appropriate for Wikipedia. It starts as follows:-

This extract is from....

. It appears as if the content has been copied verbatim from some copyrighted material. This shouldnt be the case. Lastly, yhe copyright status of the images arent quite clear. Well, as for now, I shall remove the prod tag, but the article definitely needs to be rewritten and improved :-). I may be able to help you in this regard when I get time. -Ravichandar 12:34, 22 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I've seen your message. Kindly stop sending the message again and again. And please do sign your comments. Thanks -Ravichandar 14:14, 22 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Kindly removed the part of the article which you have copy-pasted. Even reuse of the contents of the foreword of a book is considered a violation of copyright in case the book itself is copy-righted. Else message me regarding what portion of the article is actually borrowed from copyrighted material. Thanks :-) . I will surely work to clean it up. -Ravichandar 01:14, 23 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I request you to specify the copyrighted content used in the Wikipedia article. Thanks -Ravichandar 10:21, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I had a look at the article. Firstly, your article appears to be propaganda stuff as it is written in laudatory style and thereby taking a stance in the matter. This shouldnt be the case with Wikipedia articles. Wikipedia articles should be highly neutral and confer to encyclopedic standards. I shall try to clean up a bit but the rest I leave it to you. Thanks :-)-Ravichandar 01:10, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your compliment. Let me make one thing clear to you. I am not an expert on the subject and could not ensure factual accuracy. However, the tone of the article isnt right. It is written like an advertisement and needs to be altered. Yeah, there are many books on religion and people of religious importance by organizations like Ramakrishna mutt, etc. But quoting verbatim from these books is not only a violation of copyright but also infuses the article with a point-of-view. I also wish to tell you that including the map of the place or directions isnt appropriate for Wikipedia. Such kinda stuff might find acceptance in Wikitravel. Again, thanks for yourn compliments :-)-Ravichandar 03:16, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed your request for help in removing the tags on the article. Tags are generally added in good faith to articles to bring attention to improve the article. The neutrality tag is something you will need ask User:Ravichandar84 about. I will message him to comment here. I will be checking this section in case you have any questions or need help. Just add your messages below. Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 17:08, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I understand that this was done in good faith..
Actually I need help to understand how these tags can be removed...How to go about doing this? What is the process?
Ravichandar had mentioned that copying verbatim infuses pov...But he did not elaborate on how to go about removing it.
I would like to know - If this paragraph has to be rephrased or ask someone else to read the biography and represent what is in the biography in his own words... I have added a lot of references now... I would like to know the process for removal of NPOV and wikify tags..Kbala1055 (talk) 05:15, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have made the changes as follows: 1. Supreme has been removed 2. "Uncanny genius" is removed 3. "It is no wonder that contemporary Princes and Administrators, including Muslims, held him in great reverence. We should remember this " - These sentences are removed.
I feel the rest can be kept as such... "The great spiritual effulgence" cannot be removed as in the Pg no 45 of the biography - part- I , this sanskrit sloka clearly demonstrates this: Upadishtamahamantro mahasa samashobatha| udayaachalamaaruda: sharadeeva Divakara:||
The author R Krishnaswamy Iyer provides the Tamil meaning here: Mahavakyam upadesanmanavudan viseshamana Tejas Erpattadu. SaradKalttil Kalayil udayamana suryan pola prakasittar.
After he was given upadesa of this mahavakyam, he shone with special radiance. or effulgence. He shone like a rising sun in the monsoon season.

Oh, ok! I do not have much knowledge with regard to this subject. :-) Well, I felt that the article needed to be copy-edited and did the required changes. To ensure the factual accuracy of the article is left to you.-RavichandarMy coffee shop 13:18, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Section on Adding reference to Koti Mukteeswara temple near the point of conflunece

We had recently visited this Village for the Jayanthi day celebrations on 24-08-2008 (Sravana Krishna Paksha Navami Rohini star). The villagers here took us to the point of confluence of the three rivers Vaigai, Manjalaru and Maruda. One gentleman pointed out that this place is called "Mukkattuthurai" by locals here. Pilgrims take a holy dip here during auspicious days like Amavasya and believe that by doing so, they will attain liberation (Moksha in Hinduism) from life. He also took us to the remains of the ancient temple nearby which is believed to be Koti Mukteeswarar temple (as mentioned in the biography of R Krishnaswamy Iyer). The outer temple walls are said to be around six feet which is submerged in the ground. We could see stone carvings in Ancient Tamil language in the top two feet of the outer walls. I feel that this will be of great interest to the Archealogists and Epigraphists of Tamil who are studying or would like to study this period (Late 16th century-Early 17th century) and/or this area. This is a picturesque location with surrounding mountains of Kodaikanal. There is a reference to "Thiru kanda Vinnagaram" which roughly translates to Srikanteswarapuram. I had the good fortune to get an old photo of this place. Will try to scan and update it. Kbala1055 (talk) 01:01, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

I would like to add these images with the references in the biography in the mail article. Let me know if anyone has any objections.Kbala1055 (talk) 02:14, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

The Author R. Krishnaswamy Iyer, in this biography, mentions about this Koti Mukteeswarar Temple in this Village Srikanteswarapuram or Kunnuvarankottai or Kunnapatti (as it is now called). This temple was near the point of confluence of the 3 rivers before it was damaged by natural calamities like floods.Villagers here point out that, in those days, long before dams like vaigai dam, mullaiperiar dam were constructed, the rivers near this point of confluence was overflowing with water during monsoons. Common sense suggests that the current village was moved 0.5 km away from this point of confluence and new temple for Lord Viswanatha was built, the villagers point out. Locals believe that the idol was brought from Varanasi or Kasi. Can I add this reference in the main article? This is our village temple and the photograph lends credence to the events associated with the saint in this temple. The photographs were taken by our family who regularly visit this village. This is one such photo taken by photographer who was arranged by our family. We have an album of such photographs owned by us only. Incidentally a magazine has taken some photos with our permission and printed. What are the proofs that are required ? Kbala1055 (talk) 01:49, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
