1. Why did you delete my page when I hadn't finished writing it?

Answer: Don't create new articles unless you are sure they meet wikipedia's criteria, particularly notability and verifiability. If you want to practice, there is the sandbox facility and Wikipedia:Articles for creation where you can get a second opinion from a more experienced contributor. And if you really can't help yourself, use {{underconstruction}} so other people will know you are still working on it.

2. Why did you delete my page for advertising? I wasn't trying to advertise!

Answer: Read Wikipedia:NPOV for guidance on how to word an article so that it doesn't sound like an advertisement.

3. Why did you delete my page for advertising? It was about a non-profit organisation!

Answer: Non-profit organisations advertise all the time - it's still promotion and the rule applies to them just as it does to commercial bodies. See no 2 above.

4. Why did you delete my article without warning?

Answer: Because you are not entitled to a warning if you don't follow the guidelines. See no 1 above.

5. Why didn't you do a google search and find references for my article and put them in for me instead of just deleting it?

Answer: Because I don't have time to do the boring bits for you. I have enough boring bits of my own to work on, thank you.

6. You have a very interesting view of neutrality. The authors you give credence to have a definite point of view and you discount those that disagree.

Answer: There is of course no answer because this is not a question. It's a snide comment added by someone who doesn't understand the NPOV rule. Possibly a Ricardian revisionist.

I can't find any reliable source for the existence of any of these films. Maybe they have alternative titles, but I can't find any of them. I did find books that mention Kim Lung, but they don't mention any of these films either, they mention completely different titles. Oh, but he worked woth other alias, as Long Jian, Long Quan and Hong Chian Long, as I put on Wikidata. I can't find any references to these. Please come up with a reliable source. Also, at the moment the articles for the individual films don't make any claim of notability. Even the articles on the actors don't list these films. For example, the list of films with Jimmy Wang Yu doesn't mention Queen of Fist. At least I think it is this particular discussion that is causing the page to be seen as eligible for G13 deletion.

I don't want to edit another editor's archived talk page so I'm just alerting you so that perhaps you can remove the tag or place <nowiki> code around it so it's not a "live" AFC tag and some eager editor doesn't mistakenly tag the page for deletion. Month articles

• Hi, Deb, good to hear from you. I appreciate all the work you've done over nearly 15 years in improving the project, and ideas that you instituted (such as placing the births and deaths in the dates where they happen rather than putting them at the end). You're correct, there's been no discussion and there's no consensus about removing the blue links from dates, although we ought to have one. I had done it on pages that I was maintaining for older months (such as March 1900) and if January and February of a year didn't have blue links. I did it had, mostly to head off another type of mass action that we had a year ago from User:JamesLucas. However, in cases where January and February have been returned to blue links (true of most of the pages in the 1960s) I don't reverse the reversal. The important thing, after all, is that citations are found for what can be cited, and that unattributable or questionable items get removed. I'll stop. Generally, a few days after a month ends, I go through the pages to look for what's been added or deleted. I just finished the March pages and I'll patrol the April pages about a week after May begins. Please feel free to let me know any instance where you disagree with an edit I've done. I respect your opinions and, as I say, I appreciate that you've been working on this project from the very beginning. Mandsford 12:37, 12 April 2022 (UTC)

New administrator activity requirement

The deletion log of Manush Nandan showed up on my watchlist, and I was curious to know why chose to delete it yourself, rather than tag it for PROD or speedy, and let another admin take a call on it. 1958 Jordan crisis

Hello! The article 1958 Jordan crisis is in need of some cleanup and so I picked you (randomly) from admin lists to come take a peek. I removed the speedy (for copyvio) because it looked like it did not qualify under that criteria. However, I did send it to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/1958 Jordan crisis for feedback. Another editor put the speedy on again for copyvio and I was convinced it no longer met that criteria. However, upon further review (and additional data) it seems that it may indeed need a speedy under copyvio. Could you please review and take whatever action is necessary (i.e. clean up my mistakes)? • Following an RfC, a change has been made to the administrators inactivity policy. Under the new policy, if an administrator has not made at least 100 edits over a period of 5 years they may be desysopped for inactivity.
• Following a discussion on the bureaucrat's noticeboard, a change has been made to the bureaucrats inactivity policy.

Technical news

• The ability to undelete the associated talk page when undeleting a page has been added. This was the 11th wish of the 2021 Community Wishlist Survey.
• A public status system for WMF wikis has been created. It is located at https://www.wikimediastatus.net/ and is hosted separately to WMF wikis so in the case of an outage it will remain viewable.

Arbitration

• Remedy 2 of the St Christopher case has been rescinded following a motion. The remedy previously authorised administrators to place a ban on single-purpose accounts who were disruptively editing on the article St Christopher Iba Mar Diop College of Medicine or related pages from those pages.

UK Charts

Hello, Deb! I'm on a spree of adding official chart positions to a bunch of song and album articles, including year-end lists, and I've noticed four official Top 200 UK year-end lists for 1981 are cited in the 1981 in British music. • HumanxAnthro That's great but I'm not sure exactly what you mean when you refer to year-end lists and what it is you are looking for when you say you can't find them.   • It's the BPI year book published in 1982, as well as "Chart File 1982", that includes 1981 year-ends. Looking for the yearbook on searches finds books and academics journal referencing it for specific information, but not the book itself [8]. A few sits, such as Google Books, but there's no print book they make available, in addition to no pdfs being anywhere. If you still have the books in possession, you could submit screenshots of them (and all of your BPI books) to archive.org. 👨x🐱 (Nina CortexxCoco Bandicoot) 13:21, 14 May 2022 (UTC)

Since you deleted the Dora Fugh Lee article, how do I return to my draft to see where you say we are violating copyrights of the Chinese American Museum? We are the ones primarily editing this page. Did we borrow too much text from our own web page? Is this just deleted permanently or can we continue to improve this article in order to get this notable Chinese American's page visible?

I'm sorry, but you'll have to be more specific if there's something that's bothering you. In principle, users are entitled to remove promotional wording, and it depends a bit where the citation comes from. For example, if s/he removed a sentence saying "He's really clever" and the source was the subject's website, it would be entirely appropriate to remove it. Deb (talk) 08:00, 15 May 2022 (UTC)

I didn't see that you had declined the tag before I carried out the deletion - I was still looking at it. Apart from an excessive dependence on primary sources, it still reads to me like a CV. Notwithstanding, I'm happy for you to restore it if you feel it meets the criteria. It would really have helped if the article creator hadn't kept moving it around between sandbox, draft space and article space. Technical news

• Administrators using the mobile web interface can now access Special:Block directly from user pages. (T307341)
• The IP Info feature has been deployed to all wikis as a Beta Feature. Any autoconfirmed user may enable the feature using the "IP info" checkbox under Preferences → Beta features. Autoconfirmed users will be able to access basic information about an IP address that includes the country and connection method. Those with advanced privileges (admin, bureaucrat, checkuser) will have access to extra information that includes the Internet Service Provider and more specific location.

Hi Deb,

You've closed several sections at ANI in the past day or two and put the atop template before the section header ([9] [10] [11]). Per the documentation at Template:Archive_top, the template should go below the header, or else it will disrupt archiving bots. I think that I and TheDragonFire300 have fixed all the recent instances.

There's been a major increase in vandalism & other bad edits to 2022 & its talk page, including from an IP-hopper who very frequently adds nonsense about 2020 being a person & uses misleading edit summaries. If you would care to take a look at recent edits on this article, then the comments at User talk:Alicegreaves, it appears that the article's subject matter has requested that her date of birth is not shown in the article. The DOB is in the 'public domain', so it seems a somewhat strange request. However, I am not certain of Wiki's stance, and can not find editing guidelines for such an eventuality. I would be grateful for guidance and, if such a request could/should be accommodated, whether the subject matter needs to make a 'formal request'. Thanks,

I am not sure I understand your response. I just saw that you have moved the article to the draft page and protected it to prevent re-creation. I am asking when the review is due. I obviously cannot recreate an article that has been blocked from being recreated. As I have consistently explained, I am highly motivated to see this matter resolved because I believe that these strange deletions and attempts to block the publication of the article stems from prejudice. There is a serious geographical imbalance in the coverage of the referent subject matter which seems deliberately maintained by arbitrary editorial standards. I looked at your draft myself and judged it not ready for article space. I have no idea why you would think that this has anything to do with geographical or other prejudice. Dear Deb, far from asking for favouritism, I am asking that we all abide by the communitarian values that undergird this collaborative enterprise. We should all strive to be both candid and motivated solely by the desire to create objective knowledge. What are the improvements that are required to be made to the article to make it fit for the articlespace? We should be able to have that discussion on open and factual grounds with no undertones. Surely, we strive for the highest standards of editorial transparency in this community, do we not? So far, I have seen a concerted and coordinated effort to block an article by older editors but no grounds as to why this determination to block is warranted. Why have Wikipedia editors not been as motivated to screen them with the same fervour that we are seeing here? Do you sincerely not see a clear geographical bias at play?
