Possible future orders
- Austrian Airlines and Lufthansa are considering the 787 and its competitor, the Airbus A350, as part of their long haul fleet replacement programs.[106][107]
- Although none have placed orders for the 787, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, and American Airlines have made bids to become part of the 787 GoldCare support program, providing maintenance, repair, and overhaul services.[108]
- In May 2007, it was announced that El Al reached an agreement to lease six or seven aircraft from Boeing between 2011 and 2015 after canceling its option to buy eight Boeing 787 aircraft. It is currently unclear what model these aircraft will be.[1] In July of the same year, it was announced that the airline had entered additional negotiations to purchase two 787's. Boeing has attempted to resurrect the 787 deal as of November.[2]
- On May 22, 2007, Delta Air Lines CEO Gerald Grinstein stated that he expects the airline to order the 787 before the end of 2007. [109]
