The Ford Figo is Ford's new subcompact automobile that went on sale on 10 March 2010 in India for Rs 3.5 lakh (U$8400).[1] It is based on the Ford Global B platform, and is built only in Chennai, Tamil Nadu to be sold worldwide. It gets its name from the colloquial Italian expression Figo which is similar to colloquial English expression 'cool'.
First generation
The vehicle was unveiled in New Delhi in Sep 2009.[2][3]
Engines
The Ford Figo is available in both gasoline and diesel versions.
- A four cylinder 1196cc 16V DOHC Petrol engine, rated at 71 PS (52 kW; 70 bhp) @ 6000rpm with 102 N⋅m (75 lbf⋅ft) @ 4000rpm maximum torque.
- A four cylinder 1399cc 8V SOHC Diesel engine, rated at 69 PS (51 kW; 68 bhp) @4000rpm with 160 N⋅m (120 lbf⋅ft) @ 2000rpm maximum torque.
