Hallo i am from Greece and i want to make an article in Wikipedia about amateur club which i am coaching. I made it in Greece wikipedia but they delete. I want to ask you if you can help me and give me advises how the article will be ok with wikipedia rulles. :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Billiarakos (talkcontribs) 16:28, 19 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Fashion for a cure

in re: Fashion for a cure (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

fyi

I started what I thought was a new article, at Fashion for a cure -- only to see you had previously deleted an earlier version. The organization is a real organization, which has been covered by RS. I'll add some additional references tonight.

Cheers! Geo Swan (talk) 18:30, 19 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The previous version was spam authored by an editor who contributed nothing else. Your version doesn't have that problem. – Athaenara 03:14, 21 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Avner Shats again

Twilight zone?

Um, here goes an interesting story. I stumbled upon Avner Shats article by following a link from Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2011 September 9#Template:Hoax, and just out of curiosity, found a couple of useful references, which hopefully proved he's real. So I fixed the article [1].

Then, I noticed that Nosuchuser (talk · contribs) requested that you remove the prod from that same article back in August. That was his sole contribution.

I'm not affiliated with Nosuchuser (although I admire his creativity in username selection :-) ), I don't know Avner Shats, I'm not from Israel... though he seems to have at least two fans nicknamed... No such user (talk) 15:35, 20 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm a little startled to hear so much about someone I'd never heard of anywhere but on Wikipedia. Twilight zone indeed ... – Athaenara 03:26, 21 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The Spirit Level book dispute

Clear some things up

Awhile ago you posted a third opinion on The Spirit Level article here and it caused some confusion. You stated that multiple sources as well as notability were needed to make an addition to the article. For future reference: 1) Multiple sources are not needed to add material to an established article. If you look at the WP:Verifiability policy, it states that only one source is needed, by using the word source in the singular. This is also made clear by the fact that lots of information in articles on Wikipedia only have one source attributed to them. 2) Regarding notability, if you look at the WP:Notability policy it states, "These notability guidelines only outline how suitable a topic is for its own article or list. They do not directly limit the content of an article or list". In other words, notability is only required for the creation of the article itself, not for everything contained in the article. Also, see the section (here). Somedifferentstuff (talk) 02:24, 21 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It was an independent third opinion, not a policy decision or an administrative action, and it was three months ago (diff). I don't know why the editors of that article have been having so much difficulty resolving their disagreements, but I am not and will not be involved. I regret that my honest attempt to help by responding to a WP:3O request failed. – Athaenara 03:56, 21 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Incognito (video game)

in re: Incognito (video game) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

undelete request

We're requesting the un-deletion of Incognito (video game) article. I haven't had a chance to check the notice for deletion. We understand that there hasn't been any additions to the citations in the article however we were going to add more 3rd party links to the page today, however noticed it had been deleted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by FoxDiller (talkcontribs) 23:45, 25 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It had one line, an infobox, four screenshots, and no improvement in the past year and a half. I won't undelete it but you can try RfU. Who's "we" btw? – Athaenara 22:14, 27 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ronald William Turner

Hello,

If you are a super-alert person, the subject line should tip you off as to my problem with this article.

In the process of posting this hero's biography, I came to the embarrassing realization that sometime in the research/writing process, I changed him into William Ronald Turner. Because I will have to revisit the entirety of my research to weed any insertions of the wrong Turner, with resultant rewriting, I withdrew the article with the aim of reposting it when it has undergone massive correction. What will I have to do to repost it after correction?

Georgejdorner (talk) 03:58, 26 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If you're working on it in your userspace, you can move the page to the proper article title when it's ready for mainspace. – Athaenara 21:59, 27 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Talk pages of deleted Commons content

When deleting talk pages of files moved to Commons, I would appreciate if you could move over old content, especially {{oldffdfull}}, {{oldpuffull}}, which have Commons equivalents ({{oldffdfull-en}} and {{oldpuffull-en}} respectively). This helps avoid duplicate discussions and deletion requests. Magog the Ogre (talk) 13:47, 27 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've seen a few (not many) of those. I stored a note in one of my work pages about the templates and hope to use them properly when the occasion arises. – Athaenara 21:52, 27 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. Magog the Ogre (talk) 10:50, 1 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You are welcome, and thank you for the heads-up – I hadn't known about the Commons equivalents – Athaenara 12:50, 1 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please could you not delete talk pages containing project banners or the like. G8 specifically excludes "talk pages for images that exist on Wikimedia Commons". Thanks — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 17:21, 2 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Weavers Way Co-op

in re: Weavers Way Co-op (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) (RfU)

While I did not author the Weavers Way Co-op page, I question why you removed it. As a dynamic organization with over 5,000 members, a strong urban farming program, an educational arm and a newspaper with a circulation of over 23,000, Weavers Way is the largest co-op in Philadelphia. Any chance we could get it reinstated, or would I have to start from scratch? I saw the deletion was in part because sources for the info on it was not cited, but it appeared to come primarily from the Weavers Way website www.weaversway.coop. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jonmcgo (talkcontribs) 21:02, 28 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That page was tagged 00:09, 26 April 2011 (UTC) for {{proposed deletion}} by Swpb (talk · contribs), whose concern was undersourced and no indication of notability, with no improvement since 2007. Per WP:PROD, seven days passed during which other editors could have addressed the concern or objected. That did not happen, so it was deleted after a week. If you wish, you may list it at Requests for undeletion. (Who is "we" btw?) – Athaenara 10:51, 30 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Elton John tours

I see you've deleted a couple of fanmade Elton John tours. Let me direct you to a few more that should be deleted as well: Elton John 1970 World Tour, Elton John 1971 World Tour, Jump Up Tour, Too Low for Zero Tour, European Express Tour, Breaking Hearts Tour, Ice on Fire Tour, Tour De Force (tour), Songs from the West Coast Tour, Reg Strikes Back Tour, Sleeping with the Past Tour, The One Tour, Elton John & Ray Cooper 1993/1994 World Tour, Elton John & Ray Cooper 1995 Tour, Elton John 2006 European Tour, Big Picture Tour, Red Piano Europe, Medusa Tour, Stately Home Tour, Made in England Tour, Elton John 2004 World Tour, Peachtree Road Tour, and Face to Face 1994, 1995, 1998, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2009, 2010. Guess it was more than I expected there to be... WOW, this user is REALLY going at it with the tours. Not only are the only sources for each one fansites, a bunch of them are just (album title) Tour. I'd appreciate it if you would give the user who is creating these fancraft articles a warning/explaination about what s/he is doing. — Status {talkcontribs  19:30, 2 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The four I deleted were tagged {{db-g7}} by the author. For the rest, unless the same author tags them as well, WP:PROD or (perhaps better) WP:AFD as a group? – Athaenara 09:24, 4 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

1.18 upgrade problems

On WP:VPT you said you were seeing several different problems with Wikipedia since the upgrade. Are you still seeing the same problems? If so, please let me know. — ☠MarkAHershberger☣ (talk) 04:44, 6 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I am, thank you for asking! Tabs are gone, sidebar is gone, dropdown namespace menu for contribs is gone, monobook skin is gone, it's like not being logged in at all! Will it ever end? – Athaenara 07:54, 6 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
See Bugzilla:31422, but I'm not yet able to reproduce this. Could you post a screenshot of what you're seeing? Also, try disabling any gadgets and custom CSS/JS. — ☠MarkAHershberger☣ (talk) 12:52, 6 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I forgot to mention that the edit box, which had been sizeable when things were working properly, is now only half page-width and squashed over on the left side of the page. I had exactly two "gadgets" checked (an [edit] link for lead section of page and "+" instead of "new section" tab) and no custom js. I unchecked the two gadgets and purged, no change. I deleted User:Athaenara/monobook.css, purged, emptied cache, went offline, and restarted my computer, no change. I don't know how long it would take me to figure out how to post a screenshot, but I'll pass.
Since this "upgrade" which has broken so much there have been dozens of complaints at the Village Pump (and no doubt hundreds more elsewhere). My vote is for the restoration of the previous conditions. – Athaenara 22:20, 6 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Another defect turned up: the "you have new messages" notice no longer appears when there is one. – Athaenara 04:00, 7 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Good news! The drop down contribs namespace selector menu is back! But that's all that's back: still no tabs, still no sidebar with the globe logo and handy positioning of useful links like what links here, etc. – Athaenara 05:10, 7 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a good reason

in re: File:Eb major piano.ogg (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) (commons history) and File:E major piano.ogg (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) (commons history)

Why I was not notified that two files I uploaded were deleted? Basic courtesy, at the very least, seems to suggest I should have been. → ROUX  13:34, 6 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

They were deleted per WP:CSD#F8 after Danmichaelo (talk · contribs) tagged them {{NowCommons}}. I undeleted the files and removed the tags per your complaint. – Athaenara 20:50, 6 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That is not an answer to my question, nor do your subsequent actions make any sense. Let's try again. Is there a good reason why I was not notified, by you, that two files I uploaded were deleted, by you? → ROUX  01:03, 7 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Notification, if at all, is usually by those who tag files per Moving files to the Commons, and generally uploaders have such pages on their watchlists so they'll be aware when files have been tagged. If you wish the local copy to be retained, you may add a {{Keep local}} to it. – Athaenara 02:13, 7 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I don't particularly care whether it's here or Commons. What I care about is your lack of courtesy, followed by bizarre actions, and refusal to answer a specific question. Which you still haven't answered. Why did you fail to let me know, as a courtesy, that you had deleted the files in question? → ROUX  02:54, 7 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

So that's a 'no' in response to my question, then? Jolly good. → ROUX  21:50, 8 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sober Living by the Sea

in re: Sober Living by the Sea (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

I deleted this as an expired Prod and subsequently userfied it at the creator's request. It has now been reintroduced to article space after some improvements. This is a courtesy note because you had previous concerns; please feel free to act as you see appropriate. TerriersFan (talk) 18:57, 8 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You moved it to commons, then deleted it, and then they deleted it on commons. Thanks for NOTHING. Sorry for being snippy.Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots19:11, 8 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know why it would be consider a copyvio, but that was the reason Infrogmation gave in the deletion log. I restored the local file (log, history). – Athaenara 20:15, 8 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for restoring. However, you should check the link he posted on his commons talk page, and see if there actually is a copyright concern. I was expecting to see a "freedom of panorama" argument, if anything. Unless that's effectively the same thing. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots22:50, 8 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I see one problem, at least. I had posted it as PD-self (under my previous ID, 6 1/2 years ago, when I didn't know anything much about photo restrictions here), and although I took the picture, I obviously did not paint the painting. Any advice? ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots04:28, 9 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry, I have none, isn't there a discussion board for licensing questions? – Athaenara 21:25, 9 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Commons files with multiple versions in history

I would like to remind you that if a Commons file has multiple versions in its history, that all of the file versions are required to be on Commons for it to be eligible for F8. While it usually won't come back to bite us in the butt if we ignore the rules on it, that's true for any deletion criterion.

If you don't have the time to transfer to old versions to Commons, let me know and I'll use my bot to do it; you can even let me know afterwards, because the bot can see deleted versions of a file. Again, my bot would be public but the toolserver admin has placed a very low priority on fixing the server bug that's not letting it function.

In any case, I totally understand not wanting to move over old images; it's tedious enough that, in fact, I did write a bot to automate the task. Magog the Ogre (talk) 23:08, 14 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

PS. I'm talking about multiple versions of the same image; not times when the image should be split. If it should be split, well then we just have to split it. Magog the Ogre (talk) 23:08, 14 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the reminder. I don't transfer files myself, but before deleting local duplicates I'll be more diligent in determining whether multiple versions of a file exist and have been transferred. If multiple versions exist but haven't been properly transferred, I'll try to remember to note that in the local file. – Athaenara 01:57, 15 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Also, I wrote a script aaaaaaages ago that really helps me transfer files (hence the reason why my deletion summary always say (using Magog the Ogre's move to commons assistant) [2]. If you want access to it, and are geeky enough to know how to run php from the command line, I'll send you the source code. Magog the Ogre (talk) 02:22, 15 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Shouldn't talk pages that contain only project banners for files that have been moved to commons be deleted? Why did you exempt them? Of course, if the talk page contains discussion, keep it. — Train2104 (talk • contribs • count) 15:16, 31 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
