Vodacom Tanzania

Hey! Thanks for the commend on Vodacom Tanzania. I just finish another article about Celtel Tanzania. Feel free to improve the articles in anyway. I have a plan/project in this year to write new articles about ICT and Telecom in Tanzania. Feel free to support the project in anyway. Hi Alifazal. How come you decided to ask that this article be deleted? It sounds interesting and useful. Can it not be kept, and improved later or, or something? Anyway, I fixed the link and changed the article title, and I think it should be kept. And thank you for creating it. Herostratus 18:44, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, I see, there is already another article about the snake. Well, good try anyway. Herostratus 19:12, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Herostratus! I rechecked the page and it seems you have redirected the page to the already existing page. My error was that i kept a fullstop at the end of the title. alifazal 17:52, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, please see Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Lepidoptera#Charaxes khasianus. Thanks! Rocket000 (talk) 22:24, 8 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That was about an article you created called Kihansi Charaxes and that article was moved and is now deleted. In case you need it to develop a well referenced version please let me know. We did not find the species name or the description paper and in the meantime someone had moved it to a different and incorrect taxon page (as titled above). One in Cape Town at WikiAfrica, at the Africa Centre; and the other for WikiAfrica Cameroon in Douala, at doual’art. If you are interested, please contact either Marilyn [marilyn.doualabell@doualart.org] for the WikiAfrica Cameroon call or Isla [islahf@africacentre.net] for the WikiAfrica position in Cape Town.

Ways to improve Sumbawanga Airport

Hi, I'm Binko71100. Alifazal, thanks for creating Sumbawanga Airport!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Good article, just a little short.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. —Preceding undated comment added 03:07, 24 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Kenya Airways

Hi. Why did you remove Precision Air as a subsidiary from the infobox? The percentage held by KQ decreased according to your recent edits, but the company is still a KQ subsidiary.--Jetstreamer Talk 17:42, 30 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. It is not a subsidiary. See this [[1]] "KQ said that it could not comment on the deal since Precision Air is an independent company despite its strategic stake in the listed Tanzanian carrier." It needs to be more than 50% to be a subsidiary. Ali Fazal (talk) 17:45, 30 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You're right.--Jetstreamer Talk 23:51, 30 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The correct terminology is Associate company as shareholding is between 20-50%. Thanks for patrolling. Ali Fazal (talk) 23:57, 30 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Amina

Hi. Actually, Amina Mohamed was the Chairman/Chairperson of both the IOM and the WTO's General Council (Chair=Chairman=Chairperson; c.f. [2]). Regards, Middayexpress (talk) 14:49, 24 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

He there. Yes, I do not deny that. I have included those board positions in the infobox under the section "Positions". Thanks for improving this article's contents. Ali Fazal (talk) 14:55, 24 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Her time as Chairperson with those orgs should probably be given their own office parameters since, aside from her time with UNEP as Deputy Executive Director, that is what she is mainly known for internationally. Middayexpress (talk) 15:40, 24 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. I understand these Board positions were not full time. Both the WTO and IOM were led by Directors General. Also, if you see her profile, she was the Permanent Representative of Kenya to th UN from 2000-2006; whilst at the same time she led these two international organisations. Hi there. May I ask what do you mean by "standard template format"? I used the official template infobox for officeholders: {{Infobox officeholder}} Please elaborate. Ali Fazal (talk) 16:26, 25 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yemenia flights at Dar Es Salaam

Per Yemenia's route map, flights between Sana'a and Dar Es Salaam is nonstop (may stop in Naroibi but the airline doesn't have fifth freedom rights between NBO and DAR). I wasn't able to book that segment at Yemenia's website. 68.119.73.36 (talk) 01:42, 10 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. Cheers. I think it's you that is edit warring.. might i suggest that you look at the article's talkpage and I would once again recommend that you read the MOS:CAPS guideline properly. Ali Fazal (talk) 13:36, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Visual Editor

Hey Alifazal

I'm sending you this because you've made quite a few edits to the template namespace in the past couple of months. If I've got this wrong, or if I haven't but you're not interested in my request, don't worry; this is the only notice I'm sending out on the subject :).

So, as you know (or should know - we sent out a centralnotice and several watchlist notices) we're planning to deploy the VisualEditor on Monday, 1 July, as the default editor. For those of us who prefer markup editing, fear not; we'll still be able to use the markup editor, which isn't going anywhere.

What's important here, though, is that the VisualEditor features an interactive template inspector; you click an icon on a template and it shows you the parameters, the contents of those fields, and human-readable parameter names, along with descriptions of what each parameter does. Personally, I find this pretty awesome, and from Monday it's going to be heavily used, since, as said, the VisualEditor will become the default.

The thing that generates the human-readable names and descriptions is a small JSON data structure, loaded through an extension called TemplateData. I'm reaching out to you in the hopes that you'd be willing and able to put some time into adding TemplateData to high-profile templates. It's pretty easy to understand (heck, if I can write it, anyone can) and you can find a guide here, along with a list of prominent templates, although I suspect we can all hazard a guess as to high-profile templates that would benefit from this. Hopefully you're willing to give it a try; the more TemplateData sections get added, the better the interface can be. If you run into any problems, drop a note on the Feedback page.

Thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 21:16, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Layout of pages

I planned myself for some time now to remodel layout of lists of Tanzanian officeholders, but I didn't have enough time for that until today. I hope you like it. Cheers! --Sundostund (talk) 14:44, 9 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thanks for editing the list. However, I have the following observations:
  • the title of the article refers to Tanzania; and therefore including the President of United Republic of Tanganyika and Zanzibar may not be essentially necessary.
  • the start and end term dates for President Nyerere ought to be one i.e. 1964 and 1985; and he didn't actually take office in 1977 as indicated by you as the year was between the two elections of 1975 and 1980
  • Repitition of the translated name of the part may as well be unnecessary and would recommend using its acronyms instead.

I thank you once again for updating the list. Ali Fazal (talk) 15:03, 9 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Well, as you may know, Tanzania was officially called the United Republic of Tanganyika and Zanzibar between April and November 1964, after the unification with Zanzibar and before officially changing the name to Tanzania. Next, TANU ceased to exist and CCM was formed in 1977. I think we should include the precise date about when that happened. I'd also prefer to use the translated name of the party instead of just acronyms. Please, don't revert it again. Cheers! --Sundostund (talk) 15:16, 9 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi

Hi, how are you? I added a picture to the article Fatimah, but there is a debate about it. Can you add your comments to the talk-page? Thanks (you can delete this message after you read it)- Zabranos (talk) 02:26, 21 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The article Ruhila Adatia-Sood has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No notability before today. WP:ONEEVENT.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Nomination of Ruhila Adatia-Sood for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Ruhila Adatia-Sood is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ruhila Adatia-Sood until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Taylor Trescott - my talk + my edits 22:07, 22 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Death and state funeral of Nelson Mandela. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Nelson Mandela#Death. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Nelson Mandela#Death – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 01:07, 6 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hargeisa

Hi Alifazal. Outside of parts of the Somaliland region, the Hargeisa monument is controversial, as it portrays in heroic terms rebels and the Somali authorities as villains. It's therefore not a neutral image for the page. Regards, Middayexpress (talk) 18:17, 8 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Malawian Airlines

I wanted to let you know that I restored the destinations table to the format it had prior to your edits, as it was in one of the layouts that was approved by consensus. It took me some time to put the table in this new format, so please familiarise yourself with it. Needless to say, the table can be expanded, but sources should be provided for each new entry. Please also note the following:

  1. This edit removed a line that was in agreement with WP:ASOF
  2. this other one removed a valid reference from the lead; the full name of the carrier was stated nowhere else in the article
  3. this added unsourced content.

You may want to take a look at WP:BURDEN regarding the last two items last item. I've marked all the unsourced claims present in the article. Finally, you did not use an edit summary for each of your edits; please do so in the future. You may reply here, I'll be watching. Thanks.--Jetstreamer Talk 14:11, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Jetstreamer. I have added the reference. Request you to review this article: Jambojet. Ali Fazal (talk) 22:05, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I'll take a look at it ASAP.--Jetstreamer Talk 22:44, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Regarding Jambojet, the content included in the ″History″ section should fit better in the ″Destinations″ one, IMHO. Furthermore, the table should be put in one of the formats I linked to above. I will not modify this article, though, I'll just do some archiving of references if you don't mind.--Jetstreamer Talk 00:06, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Newark By-election

I have reversed your edit to the Newark by-election, 2014 article because it is not standard practice to have any candidates or indeed photos in the infobox of an ongoing by-election article. There have been 17 By-elections for this Parliament and for every single one of them candidates were not added to the infobox until the results had been announced. I see no reason for this practice to change. Thank you for your edit, I am sure the photograph will come in useful once the by-by-election results are in. To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. Hi. Thanks for warning me on the 3RR; but you too edited the article more than thrice. Request you to please comment on the dispute resolution. Ali Fazal (talk) 16:53, 19 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hargeisa #2

Hi Alifazal. Per the recommendation at DR, I have opened a new discussion here on the Hargeisa plane monument. Your input would be greatly appreciated. Best regards, Middayexpress (talk) 13:09, 25 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Request

This user is asking that his block be reviewed:

Alifazal (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

I cannot edit as this shows up on my screen: "CheckUser evidence has determined that this IP address or network has been used (not necessarily by you) to disrupt Wikipedia." My last edit was on the United States–Africa Leaders Summit and i dont believe i did anything that was contrary to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines that would have resulted in me getting blocked. I request you to please consider my request. I trust that my edit history will speak for itself. i have been a user since 2005 and this is the first time that I have been blocked. I normally edit articles related to my home country of Tanzania. I believe this is a case of mistaken identity, misunderstanding, or other irregularity. Thank you. You deleted the block notice, which stated that you were blocked, and the reason, which is abusing multiple accounts. 129.78.68.1 (talk) 02:01, 6 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
