::{{ping|Fylindfotberserk}} Thank you for pointing out the 'talk on Nagaland'(still figuring out so much)... yes i saw the cited page and went through the source...and yes you are right regarding either SS or BJP coming up with proposal as we no one in Nagaland knows about such proposal...anyway i guess it does not matter much to the people concerned (Nagas) and i was concerned because it was not relevant (and also misleading to say that political groups are demanding such, because one reads it as Nagas themselves demanding for change in nomenclature and not by other states)... anyway Thanks for your time.

@Kalangot: I've sent you the basic guidelines on how to edit stuff here at Wikipedia. Just remember not to include anything without reliable source and also do not write anything that's not mentioned in the source(s). You can discuss with me if you have a problem. And congrats . - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 15:56, 8 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism.

Hi, this page Maratha Clan System is under an edit war please take a look at it. Thanks. HinduKshatrana (talk) 09:25, 5 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Fylindfotberserk, this is We are the Great. I can see that the Wikipedia user, Correction With Evidence, not only added unsourced edits to the page for Maratha Clan System, but also engaged in an edit war in the page of Kavi Kalash. So did you take a look on the page and saw what was going on and let the other Wikipedian editors know about that? Thanks! We are the Great (talk) 21:54, 24 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@We are the Great: That editor was adding large amounts of unsourced content and personal commentary in those articles. That's why their edits got reverted. I didn't notify other editors but some people like Jonathansammy and Acharya63 are very active in these articles. They'll take care of those if I'm not around. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 06:11, 25 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Flylindfotberserk: That means that Jonathansammy and Acharya63 were professional editors like you. I think this user who vandalised Maratha Clan System and Kavi Kalash knew all about this, but they didn't make the cut because they were unsourced edits. However, when I was seeing the revision history of the Maratha Clan System, I couldn't see what the user wrote in the Maratha Clan System because it was blocked, and I really wanted to know what did the user wrote in the page. Why Wikepidia users can't see this? We are the Great (talk) 01:06, 26 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@We are the Great: We do not get paid for our edits, so we are not professional editors . We happen to be more experienced, that's it. Those edits that I reverted were unsourced, not WP:NEUTRAL and done to restore sourced content that the disruptive editor removed. The revisions which we are not able to view are WP:REVDELED. Those likely were in violation of copyright. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 06:19, 26 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Flylindfotberserk: Ok, I meant experienced editors. Thanks! We are the Great (talk) 19:09, 26 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Flylindfotberserk: So what you said about how editors don't get paid, I can tell that this is why Wikipedia is a non-profit organization for editing, right? We are the Great (talk) 14:31, 11 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Probably. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 14:34, 11 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

sami sokpuppetry

You are probably aware about User:Muhammad Samiuddin Qazi (sami) and his cronic sockpuppetry since the past year (seeing you filed reports about it). The user and his socks and IPs have been pushing an Urdu POV on many articles especially relating to India. Can I ask you to keep an eye on Category:Actresses in Urdu cinema, Category:Actresses in Urdu television, Category:Male actors in Urdu cinema which these IP/socks have added in many articles on Indian actors who have not worked in the Urdu films/television at all. Thanks. I have tried to clean this mess for now. Gotitbro (talk) 11:08, 22 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Gotitbro: Sure. I have this in my watchlist. That incorrigible person I tell you. Thanks for re-raising the IP range block request. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 11:43, 22 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that is one serious abuser. Thankfully the recently used IP ranges have been blocked (see SPI) but I am still not sure if that is enough to stop this. Can you also keep your eye out for Category:Territorial disputes of Pakistan that has been heavily added by socks/IPS to articles and categories of places in India that have no such disputes. The category should be limited to the ones its currently populated with if its found/added anywhere else its most likely sami or another vandal. Gotitbro (talk) 13:41, 22 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Gotitbro: Also in Category:Delhi, Category:Uttar Pradesh, etc. I believe he's in a spree to connect every region with significant Muslim population or anything related to Urdu or Islam with Pakistan. His most edits seem to be concentrated in articles related to the Muhajirs and Sindh. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 14:15, 22 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Can you watchlist the Zaira Wasim and Durand line articles. They have been subject to Pakistani POV disruption by the long term abuser Hassan guy through his IPs and socks (see the LTA report for the IP ranges). See my reverts on the articles for the kind of POVPUSH by these IPs. Thank you. Gotitbro (talk) 13:45, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Gotitbro: No problemo! - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 14:47, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Questionable editor

Hey there, if you happen to see Akashvermadzzz make any more problematic edits, please let me know. I don't get the sense that they're here to be constructive. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:56, 30 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Cyphoidbomb I've the same feeling. Have you seen his disruptive edits at Amir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan articles? - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 17:57, 30 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Cyphoidbomb First time I came across this person was in Allahabad and Faizabad related articles. They were like any other POV pusher, in those article, wanting to change Allahabad to Prayagraj and Faizabad to Ayodhya, disregarding WP:COMMONNAME. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 18:01, 30 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I saw their obviously disruptive edits. I just asked them why they deleted all that stuff at the Shah Rukh Khan article. I'm getting a "good-hand/bad-hand" vibe from them, i.e., where they make good edits and bad edits, and other users assuming good faith wind up being a bit confused as to whether this editor just needs some guidance, when they're actually just here to be a pain in the arse. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:06, 30 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Cyphoidbomb Yup, that vibe. I came across atleast a couple "good faith edits" by them before, but were actually POVs. That vandalism @SRK, Salman Khan and Amir Khan point towards a POV. It fits well with their vandalism on Allahabad and Faizabad articles. If you could understand what I mean! - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 18:15, 30 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

IPv6 user

My impression is that some of User_talk:2001:E68:60DC:7801:253A:85B6:C2AD:A4FB's edits are intended constructively, although others seem a bit like testing small random changes to see if they can survive unfixed. I'm not a patroller, but anyone doing patrolling should probably keep an eye on this IPv6 user and see how rapidly s/he makes an effort to learn the need for proper sourcing. Boud (talk) 12:20, 31 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Boud: I agree that some of their edits are constructive, but most are unexplained disruptive changes. I've seen their edits in Haryana related articles before, they just randomly change dates. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 12:35, 31 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding parameter

Hi @Fylindfotberserk: would please remove "nationality" and "citizenship" in the Infobox for Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi article as both of them were born and brought-up in India moreover first person is the PM of a country, it sounds bit chauvinistic or jingoistic by putting those parameters. You can check Boris Johnson, Donald Trump or Angela Merkel articles none of those articles have these parameters in the infobox. Another point in Narendra Modi article too many awards mentioned in Infobox, some of them are as quite irrelevant or as unimportant like Nobel Prize / Bharat Ratna for that matter. You can scrape some of those.--Isak.lund (talk) 04:48, 3 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings for New Year, My Friend !

Help

Hi, I recently come across the wikipage of Ranaghat, a neighborhood of Greater Kolkata in West Bengal. In the Notable people section, I found many unknown names, especially in the culture subsection. Edits have been primarily made from different IP addresses. It indeed seems like a self promotion. Could you please have a look into this? DeoxysX (talk) 17:06, 3 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@DeoxysX:  Done Thanks for asking. Since the list is for "Notable people" and in Wikipedia we establish WP:NOTABILITY through the creation of an article, we typically follow "No article, no inclusion" policy in these kind of lists. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 17:13, 3 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Arbitration

  • The fourth case on Palestine-Israel articles was closed. The case consolidated all previous remedies under one heading, which should make them easier to understand, apply, and enforce. In particular, the distinction between "primary articles" and "related content" has been clarified, with the former being the entire set of articles whose topic relates to the Arab-Israeli conflict, broadly interpreted rather than reasonably construed.
  • Following the 2019 Arbitration Committee elections, the following editors have been appointed to the Arbitration Committee: Beeblebrox, Bradv, Casliber, David Fuchs, DGG, KrakatoaKatie, Maxim, Newyorkbrad, SoWhy, Worm That Turned, Xeno.

One more question

One more question. Are external links redirecting to YouTube are allowed alongside verified social media account? Check Bhuvan Bam. DeoxysX (talk) 05:03, 5 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@DeoxysX: Thanks for asking. A verified YouTube channel can be added if the person is notable for his/hers YouTube presence. And Bam is famous for that, however you should link his YT channel in the Infobox rather than the External links similar to articles like Dude Perfect, Gaurav Chaudhary, using the 'channels' parameter. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 07:16, 5 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia Library Card.

Hello Brother! I have been approved to access JSTOR content through Wikipedia Library Card Platform, but I don't know how to proceed further! How do I access the content through this "card" in JSTOR? I have a JSTOR account but I when I login to it. I don't see any option to use the card! Sattvic7 (talk) 13:26, 7 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Peopling of India, POV IP

Hello, could you please watch or take a look at Peopling of India. An fringe IP (several ones) ate pushing unsourced or biased views and delete parts which does not fot their view. I have reverted them now. Can you please watch over the page? Thank you.MomotaniSS (talk) 17:50, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@MomotaniSS:None of those are POV edits, it was provided and sourced. I could not sign in as I didn't know the password to my account and had to get it restored.Ilber8000 (talk) 18:01, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Asuran

Hi I have edited , the Asuran page you reverted. Because the worldwide 50 crores. And then next line states 100 crores world wide gross. Which is two times ? Care to explain? Pinksleft (talk) 18:33, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Pinksleft: The 50 crores is the "gross" figures from theatrical sales, the 100 crores is the total collection which include gross figures + other revenues. It has been detailed in the accompanying sources. COming to your new addition, Kilvenmani massacre, the source you provided is making a guesswork, while you have added it as if the film was based on it. Unless you find a source which says, the film is based on that massacre, it is WP:OR and is liable to be removed. We do not write speculations - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 18:40, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Oh okay. It sure does has influences from the incident which the sources say. I never said it is 'based' on it. If it cannot be added there is there a possibility to add somewhere else? Like controversy or speculations or somewhere else like that. Waiting for your reply. Pinksleft (talk) 18:45, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Actually the reason for adding the kilvenmani massacre incident , for people to realize the burning of huts is not just a work of fiction but a rather crude reality. I thought it was just fiction and drama until recently I heard of kilvenmanis wiki page. So yeah.. that's it. I hope it stays somewhere in this page.. Pinksleft (talk) 18:53, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Only keeping the Huff post source, since that explicitly mentions that the plot is taken from that massacre. The other source makes speculations. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 19:09, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Delhi Technological University

I noticed a revert you made. Can you tell the exact policy/guideline that states that only those people can be included in the alumni list who have a WP article? Thanks. Bharatiya29 16:36, 17 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Bharatiya29: Hi, thanks for communicating. Firstly, the instruction in the very list section which I'm following. Secondly, notability as per WP:BIO, WP:GNG. A single source with a passing reference that the person had attended DTU wouldn't be enough IMO. I believe it is always better to have an article written on that subject, covering various topics and establishing notability in the process WP:WTAF. What are the chances that some other people referred in media once or twice wouldn't get included in the list, bloating it with non-notables? - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 17:22, 17 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I think the guideline is to allow only those entries which are notable enough to have their own article, but that doesn't mean that they need to have an article. For example, the head of Google India is surely notable enough to be listed. I don't see why we shouldn't allow some red links. Bharatiya29 11:25, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Citing WP:REDLINK: "Do not remove red links unless you are certain that Wikipedia should not have an article on that subject." Bharatiya29 11:26, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Bharatiya29: A list should contain people who are notable. According to WP:ALMAMATER, Do not add a name to the "notable alumni" section of that person's alma mater unless that person is actually notable.. If those people are notable, why not create articles first. That way notability of those people will be established too if they pass WP:GNG. There is no sure way to guarantee that a redlinker on a BLP will ever get created, it is not like a new discovery or new media sensation. And I'm very sure that the list will get bloated by entries of more obscure people in the future if we let entries without articles. As a side note, I myself got covered in a few media articles too, and I'm a Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology Jalandhar pass out. By that logic, I could very much add my name in the list of alumini in that article. Kindly create an article if you want. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 11:39, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Bharatiya29, If you want someone's name to be included, then starting his article first should be the way to get it done. Non notable people whose article are likely to be deleted cannot be mentioned here. WP:INDIA had a similar discussion about naming notable people in geo articles. The consensus is to allow only the names that have their article and a reliable source confirming the same. your suggestion of allowing notable redlinks is simplistic and a nightmare while maintaining these pages. literally every alumni thinks he is notable, just as every resident of a geo thinks his name must be added in the article on his city/village. DBigXray 11:41, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Fylindfotberserk, WP:WTAF is an essay and not a policy. Hence it cannot be used to remove notable entries from the alumni list. And since you cited another essay WP:ALMAMATER, let me quote a relevant point from it. "Occasionally, someone notable won't have their own Wikipedia article yet, but will be listed in their university article, but that's the exception to the rule." We don't need a guarantee that an article will be created, but we need the guarantee that if and when the article will be created, it will pass WP:GNG. If the source cited to prove the person's affiliation to the particular institution is also sufficient to prove his/her notability, the entry should not be removed. WP:REDDEAL clearly states "In general, a red link should be allowed to remain in an article if it links to a term that could plausibly sustain an article, but for which there is no existing candidate article, or article section, under any name." In fact, there is also a point specific to alumni lists which states that redlinks should be removed on the basis of the inclusion criteria. However, you cannot enforce a criterion which mandates a WP article as per WP:LISTCRITERIA ("Red-linked entries are acceptable if the entry is verifiably a member of the listed group and it is reasonable to expect an article could be forthcoming in the future.") Bharatiya29 12:29, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
DBigXray, I see the reasoning behind your point. I think that WP:ALUMNI presents a practical and logical solution. "Individual alumni need a citation to a) verify that they did indeed attend the school, and b) verify the statement of their notability in their short one- or two-line description. When alumni have their own articles in mainspace, it is not necessary for their notability to be referenced, as long as it is done in the biographical articles." The notability of the alumni not having a WP article yet should be allowed to be proved in the list itself in a brief manner. Bharatiya29 12:35, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
All these boils down to WP:Notability. DO these people meet the criteria laid down by WP:GNG? It seems these people are notable for one or two events only. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 12:47, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Sanjay Gupta is notable enough to pass WP:GNG on the basis of quite major coverage he received by both Indian and foreign media recently. The other two look doubtful because they mostly have passing mentions in the media. Bharatiya29 16:48, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Bharatiya29: When you think he's that notable, you should do the obvious. That is create the article. That'll seal the deal. Only your opinion on him being notable is not enough. Let it pass scrutiny, create the article. I'll also help it expand - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 17:01, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
...on the basis of quite major coverage he received by both Indian and foreign media recently <- This is exactly what WP:SINGLEEVENT is. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 17:04, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Already on it, my friend. I'll like to clarify that I am not objecting to you removing the entries, but rather to the reason you cited in your edit summary. It was leading to a wrong precedent and that is why I wanted to discuss it with you on your talk page. Bharatiya29 17:05, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
WP:SINGLEEVENT doesn't apply here as the coverage he has received is not specific to just a single event. His appointment as head of Google India resulted in a lot of media coverage, but that coverage was not specific to that one event only. Anyway, you are most welcome yo express your views once I create that article. Bharatiya29 17:08, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Bharatiya29: Nice. The edit summary "No article no inclusion" is used by many users in Wikipedia to deter new users and IPs from adding their preferred institution, settlement, people, etc in a list of notables. Besides as explained above by me and DBigXray, starting an article is a better choice to establish notability of a person rather than engaging in discussions that is likely to stale. Not to mention most guidelines on inclusion of entries in list are partially self-contradictory and not particularly clear. I quoted WP:SINGLEEVENT since you mentioned "recently" in your comment above. Anyway regards. Nice chatting. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 17:24, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Fylindfotberserk. Happened to see a post from you at User talk:Msasag in 2018, so I'm wondering if you have an opinion on the current edit warring case at WP:AN3#User:Msasag reported by User:Bhaskarbhagawati (Result: ). There is a claim that this dispute has been running since 2012. Admins might be able to do something about this, but what? The dispute was previously at DRN where User:Bhaskarghagawati appeared to the lone holdout against some of the proposals. One or more topic bans under WP:ARBIPA might be considered. Thanks for any opinion, EdJohnston (talk) 17:19, 24 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@EdJohnston: Thanks for asking sir, but sorry. I don't have an opinion on this. Anything Assam related, especially historical or dealing with scripts/languages, is a battleground. Even after multiple discussions and agreements, users keep edit warring. My own talkpage once turned into one. WP:ARBIPA would be a good thing to do. Also unnecessary content-forking is an issue with Assam related articles. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 17:35, 24 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You have been protecting pages from vandalizing from some people, so thank you for that. But how about YOU STOP vandalizing ASSAM related pages. Kamrupi is Assam's history, not Chinese history. What was your intention when you wrote no indic script ? Kamrupi script was the old Assamese script. Tizen03 (talk) 18:47, 25 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Tizen03: Go through WP:INDICSCRIPT policy. It applies to everything India-related except languages, religious things and scripts. Perhaps you should study about vandalism and WP:OWN, since you are displaying ownership behavior for Assam related articles. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 18:50, 25 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I went through the link when you 1st replied, but there are "Indian" pages with indic script. Perhaps I should edit them out ? Tizen03 (talk) 18:55, 25 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I went through the link when you 1st replied. But I've seen "Indian" pages with "Indic" script, perhaps I should edit them out ? Tizen03 (talk) 18:56, 25 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Tizen03: You can do that. But be wary that the subject of the article should be particularly restricted to India. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 19:00, 25 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

As long as its not language & script related (Indian) ? Tizen03 (talk) 19:00, 25 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Tizen03: You should do that to other articles too like Kuru Kingdom. Why only Sena dynasty? Any personal issue with that? - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 19:07, 25 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't know that, I went through Sena dynasty quite recently. I'll keep editing any article I see with indic script (except for the exceptions) Tizen03 (talk) 19:08, 25 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dear User:Fylindfotberserk, thanks for your message on my talk page. I unfortunately, do not have access to the page in full or I would try to provide the original quote in the reference. I did find a scholarly reference today that discusses their migration and have added that to the article. Help

Hi, someone has totally removed the records and achievement section from the wikipage of Virat Kohli citing WP:TRIVIA. The section was well written with proper citations to back up all the statistics throughout his career. I feel, it should be restored. I'm looking forward to hearing from you. DeoxysX (talk) 17:15, 29 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@DeoxysX: Although this kind of list seems trivial, point is whether it was present when the article got to the GA status. You can compare with other GA articles here. If they have this list, then probably you should discuss it will Dee. I believe you can discuss with them even if those lists are not in those articles. Dee seem to be active in cricket rekated articles. You can ask Lugnuts too. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 17:30, 29 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Fylindfotberserk: I am grateful to you as you have always come forward to clarify my doubts. As you're a veteran editor. Can you do it on behalf of me? I believe, we should not be missing any credential of our national cricket team captain. DeoxysX (talk) 18:52, 29 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@DeoxysX:Well, Dee has moved the list to talk citing important things can be restored back to the article. Obviously some of the entries are trivial. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 19:01, 29 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Administrators' newsletter – February 2020

News and updates for administrators from the past month (January 2020).

Guideline and policy news

  • Following a request for comment, partial blocks are now enabled on the English Wikipedia. This functionality allows administrators to block users from editing specific pages or namespaces rather than the entire site. A draft policy is being workshopped at Wikipedia:Partial blocks.
  • The request for comment seeking the community's sentiment for a binding desysop procedure closed with wide-spread support for an alternative desysoping procedure based on community input. No proposed process received consensus.

Technical news

  • Twinkle now supports partial blocking. There is a small checkbox that toggles the "partial" status for both blocks and templating. There is currently one template: {{uw-pblock}}.
  • When trying to move a page, if the target title already exists then a warning message is shown. The warning message will now include a link to the target title. [1]

Arbitration

  • Following a recent arbitration case, the Arbitration Committee reminded administrators that checkuser and oversight blocks must not be reversed or modified without prior consultation with the checkuser or oversighter who placed the block, the respective functionary team, or the Arbitration Committee.

South Asian ethnic groups

The vast majority of Sylhetis see themselves as Bengalis and not a separate ethnic group.UserNumber (talk) 10:54, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@UserNumber: Then why are we having a separate Sylhetis article? Whether Sylhetis are Bengalis or a different ethnicity is debatable. The position of Sylheti should be discussed in the Talk:Sylhetis. As for vast majority seeing themselves as Bengalis is concerned, is it not someway related to Bangladesh govt. declaring every citizen of Bangladesh is a Bengali in the past? As a comparison, People of Bihar are called Biharis (the demonym), when in fact there are 3 main ethnicities in Bihar: Bhojpuri, Magahi and Maithili and no Bihari ethnicity. All these are kept separate in the South Asian ethnic groups article, which is only a list and should be in conformity with the linked articles. Apart from Maithili language, Bhojpuri and Maithili are considered dialects of Hindi. Same with a lot of other Indian states. In Pakistan, there exists a Saraiki community which was considered to be a Punjabi sub-ethnicity, since they speak a language which is considered both a dialect and a separate language, similar to the situation of Sylhetis. Regards. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 11:46, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Of course there should be a separate article as it is a sub-ethnicity like Saraiki. We can't blame the Bangladesh govt. as even before 1971, Sylheti was not a separate ethnic group. Regards. -UserNumber (talk) 15:08, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Quisqualis: That's totally OK mate. To be frank I haven't even checked WP:HD after my last comment. I should have been more precise when I asked you to direct me to "someone who knows about this stuff" (suffering from flu since yesterday). I was looking for a linguist actually. I was concerned that this edit by the IP is a personal analysis and WP:OR, based on their editing style which looked rather novice. I mean the pronunciation they tried to add wouldn't even show in the read mode, not to mention Pa-tal is not an IPA standard format. That's why I asked them to bring a text-based source. I've opened a discussion at Talk:Dev Patel#IPA - surname pronunciation and asked Broman178 to help me with the IPA, based on the video added by the IP. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 15:41, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Goa - South India?

I see that the Goa page still lists its location as being on the southwestern cost of India. Is there a reason for this given that it is not in South India? Goingoan (talk) 22:53, 8 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Goingoan, We went through a big discussion regarding this at WP:INB and agreed to have a general definition as per Encyclopedia Britannica. Govt. definitions were not considered valid as far as general definitions are considered in the said consensus since different institutions seems to have different methodologies to identify a state/region. NE wasn't under any sultanate

You mentioned on Bengal page - "note that Bengal Presidency and sultanate included Assam, Bihar, Odisha and NE India".

No part of Assam (& other NE regions) were under any sultanate or the Mughals, please refer to any historical source.

It became a part of Bengal presidency (British raj) after 1826 (Yandaboo Treaty) & was later separated again as Assam province. And most refugees came after 1947 (after the formation of modern India), some did came during the British raj (mostly Muslim ones).

Bengal in modern context would only mean West Bengal & Bangladesh. Tizen03 (talk) 14:51, 15 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I made it clear in my edit summary that Bengal in modern administrative context would mean West Bengal and Bangladesh. I'm only against the assertion that all Bengalis in NE are refugees which is clearly not the case. Bengal sultanate under Husain Shah controlled Kamata Kingdom and ruled Assam and Tripura. See [5]. Many Bengali Hindus settled in Assam during British era and got into white collar jobs. As for Barak Valley, that was a botched move by Gopinath Bordoloi and Abdul Matlib Mazumdar regarding Sylhet. Unless you have nationalistic tendencies, you wouldn't deny that. Besides, it is totally illogical to think modern borders were same as historical borders, not to mention, people have been settling in nearby regions since ancient times. There is a reason why some Bihari speakers are native to Bengal, Odisa and vice versa. Some Punjabis are native to Himachal, Haryana, Kashmir. These are not because of recent migrations, but historical. Also there is a recent problem of Nagas encroaching upon Bodo lands in Assam. Oh.. FYI, I was called an Ahom boy, Kalita, as well so I'm aware how's the situation in Assam between all those ethnic groups calling each other names in Wikipedia, just because I try to take a neutral approach which nationalists do not like. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 15:37, 15 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I get your point.

Historical borders & current borders are different no doubt. Assam did lost territories to Arunachal, Bengal & a few others, similar to how Greeks lost territories to different ethnicities, because of historical reasons.

But one correction - entire Kamata wasn't ruled by the Sultanate. Kamata was divided into Koch-Behar & Koch-Hajo. Koch-Behar became a vessal state of the foreign Muslim invaders but Koch-Hajo stayed independent. Even today Koch-Behar is a part of West Bengal. And the Koch-Rajbonshis living there are confused about their identity & believes Bengalis & "Assamese" are destroying their identity, even though they are actually Assamese just like their Koch-Rajbonshis counterparts of Assam. Koch-Rajbongshi & Kalitas are the biggest ethnic groups in Western Assam. Even the Baro-Bhuyas who were independent identifies themselves as Assamese, but the ones under the Sultanate & Mughals address themselves as Bengali. The Sultanate, Mughals & the British did shape modern borders of South Asia no doubt about that.

I'm only against those who tries to fabricate history. Like how someone edited the Bengal page to make Assam & Tripura as a part of Bengal. Even though most part of Assam was always independent. The part that Assam lost to them (foreign invaders) was lost permanently, be it North Bengal or North Bangladesh (Rangpur) etc. Assamese aren't claiming Arunachal even though most of it was a part of Assam under Kamarupa (Ancient) & Sutiya (Medieval), even today many places are of Assamese origin including Itanagar (their capital). Neutral... Tizen03 (talk) 19:10, 15 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Obviously, you'd understand what would happen if the people of Ptana start claiming the whole of the subcontinent and Afghanistan as Bihar since Mauryans ruled all these regions with centre in Patliputra. Same with Maratha empire, Pala empire, Rashtrakutas, Mughals, British, etc. Note that all these current names of major linguistic groups or regions in South Asia, did not exist in ancient times, especially for the northern part of the subcontinent.
This source clearly mentions that Husain Shah controlled Kamarup alongwith Kuch-Behar, which they seized from Kamata Kings. According to the source, the eastern boundary of Shah's kingdom extended upto Arakan and included Tripura. Pala Empire itself was based in northern Bengal and were patrons of proto-Bengali language. The regions of Koch Behar and Pragjyotisha were captured by the Pala Empire in the 9th century (forgetting the exact timeframe). Kamarupa included even parts of Bihar, Nepal and Bhutan in its heyday. The region of northern Bengal and parts of western Kamrup was part of Shunga empire. North Bengal was part of Maurya empire and before that Nanda empire.
The Rajbongshi itself is a composite group with affinities to Nepalis, Bengalis, Assamese and other groups living near them. Koch on the other hand seems to have maintained their tribal entity. Even the Rajbongshi language is identified as a Bengali dialect as per Indian govt [6] though their are sources that categorize it as Assamese.
As for "Assamese", it is a "demonym" and not an ethnic term and is based on nationalistic lines, which came into being only after the arrival of foreigner Ahoms who consolidated their power after they defeated Kings of Kamarupa. Since it is a foreign imposed term, some descendants of older kingdoms like Koches, Bodos, Chutiyas, Dimasas would have problem with that. It gets apparent in Wikipedia as well as IRL (Bodo identity for example). I got a huge amount of backlash from these people when I supported sourced content, which they interpreted as pro-Ahom. Then there are other anti-Aryans who called me a Kalita/Brahmin dog for supporting the Indo-Aryan descent theory of Bhaskarbarman, despite I supported the inclusion of all reliable origin theories. This is the reason I rarely delve in Assam related topics even when invited. It is literally a war there. Just 1-2 months back some Dimasa was edit warring with me, removing the mention of Assamese as the official language of West Karbi Anglong. According to them, it is only Dimasa!
As of claiming things, all the neighboring countries claim something as their own be it Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka or Nepal. I've seen Pakistanis trying to own Urdu, which originated in northern India. Bangladeshis claim things that originated in Indian Bengal as their own, like some philosophy, cuisine, etc. One Odia fellow was adamant that Netaji was an Odia. Although athnic Bengali, that person was partly correct since Netaji was born in Cuttack which is presently part of Odisha but wrong at the same time since Odisha was itself part of Bengal Presidency. Now is Odisha part of West Bengal? Obviously not since West Bengal is not equal to Bengal Presidency. What I believe, after searching a lot of stuff in the net and staying in all Indian states, getting both good and bad receptions from others, is that the concept f nationalism within India and for that matter the whole world, is rather complex and 'Ethnic Nationalism' is a retarded concept. Dollar to rupee conversion

Sorry to disturb you sir, I was wondering what was the final consensus on using billion/mil in south indian movies where crores are preferred and articles which are not of high importance. Could you take a look at this Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo. Thundermage117 (talk) 11:22, 20 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Thundermage117: Thanks for communicating. Although MOS:COMMONALITY talks of using universally known 'millions/billions' instead of 'lakhs/crores', most people in Indian film articles are not comfortable with such usage. Problem is we only have a guideline which suggest we should not use conversion templates in Infobox, but there is another WP:CONSENSUS "crore" which supports usage of lakh/crore but with conversion templates. Since the guideline and consensus are contradictory, it becomes necessary to get to the talk page or discuss it at WP:ICTF. We had a discussion here. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 12:10, 20 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Fylindfotberserk: Thank you for replying. I have started a discussion at WP:ICTF after you suggested it. Basically the talk is inconclusive on the usage of crores. Thundermage117 (talk) 15:42, 20 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Thundermage117: Nice. That's been a pain in the arse for so long. I typically write crores/lakhs in the infobox and many in ICTF seem to favour that, arguing the gargantuan nature of Indian film industry . - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 15:54, 20 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion on Kachari kingdom

This Kachari kingdom page was giving only incomplete information. I've added some sourced content. This page need lots of modification related to name of Kings. DinaBasumatary (talk) 14:21, 20 February 2020 (UTC) Heramba and Hidimba are two different kingdom. If possible we should try to separate Kachari kingdom into both Heramba and Hidimba kingdom DinaBasumatary (talk) 14:26, 20 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@DinaBasumatary: Thanks for communicating. Do the needful changes to the article. As for the creation of two different articles, kindly take WP:CONTENTFORK and WP:GNG into consideration. Perhaps you can start a discussion at the article talk page and/or WP:INB. Regards. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 15:51, 20 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Aniket kr. Shaw: As per WP:POLOUTCOMES policy In general: Municipal and other local politicians are not inherently notable just for being in politics, but neither are they inherently non-notable just because they are in local politics. Each case is evaluated on its own individual merits. You have to prove that Sourav Singh has received National and /or International news coverage, then only, as per Local politicians whose office would not ordinarily be considered notable may still clear the bar if they have received national or international press coverage, beyond the scope of what would ordinarily be expected for their role. For example, a small-town mayor or city councillor who was the first LGBT person ever elected to office in their country, or who emerged as a significant national spokesperson for a political issue, may be considered notable on that basis. Note that this distinction may not simply be asserted or sourced to exclusively local media; to claim notability on this basis, the coverage must be shown to have nationalized or internationalized well beyond their own local area alone. clause of the above policy, the page can be survived. date formats per MOS:DATEFORMAT by script

Hi Fylindfotberserk.

I imagine you're getting a bit fed up with having to chase around a certain editor putting the dates 'right'? 😒 I presume DMY is a standard Indian format?

The next section of the N. Chandrababu Naidu due for a copy-edit barely makes any sense, to me, anyway. 😣

"By launching the Janmabhoomi (BirthPlace) in February 1996 the Naidu governments main aim was to get people's movement for reconstruction and revitalization of the society by themselves and the Programme works in a micro level planning is to identify people represented problems through Gram Sabhas discussions by regional officers especially in villages and to send categorical Project proposals for govt to work in transparency as responsive Centre for Good Governance while main concentration in core aspect areas are community work, primary school education, drinking water, health & hospitals, family welfare and environmental protection with the initiation plan of watershed and Joint Forest management activities[27] and from 1997 onwards as part of Janmabhoomi under the Clean and Green Campaign where the schools students and teachers participated in institutional and household plantation with the government employees jointly involved in plantation of 46 million trees in now Telangana and entire Andhra Pradesh state and about 3,906,835 people participated in sanitation work also with 1,438,850 persons engaged to remove garbage and 40,921,447 people participated in health awareness rallies as Naidu's idea was to make every habitation and municipal ward clean and green which is the Largest and successful events organized."

Oh dear, that is one sentence!

At least somebody has been able to provide sources for the parts I tagged as needing a citation. 🤷‍

Waris Pathan reversion

Hello,

Can you explain in more detail why you reverted my revision to the Waris Pathan page? Your comment was "Do not modify quote by the article subject. It is against Wikipedia guidelines + MOS:NUMERALS." But from my perspective I was not changing any of his words, I was only adding an English translation. I think from my edit it was clear that the English translation was not his, since it was outside the quotation marks. To be honest I was a little unsure about the translation (I don't speak Hindi or any Indian language), but that was part of the point; when I first read his article I found it completely inscrutable from the point of view of a non-Indian reader. I think for it to be understandable to a non-Indian, there needs to be an explanation of how "Bharat Mata ki Jai" is different from "Jai Hind". I welcome your thoughts.

As for the guideline on MOS:NUMERALS, that seems irrelevant since I didn't change any numbers. Shmarrighan (talk) 22:38, 14 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Shmarrighan: I thought you changed the quotes. Yesterday, I wasn't feeling well and wikEdDiff made it look wrong. As for the MOS:NUMERALS, I botched big time. Was meaning MOS:NUMNOTES, since I thought you added the year at the beginning of the sentence, failed to see the 'If'. I've restored it. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 08:58, 15 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Got it, thanks. Hope you're feeling better! Shmarrighan (talk) 21:20, 15 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Shmarrighan: A little better. Thank you . - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 05:32, 16 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your edit

Hi Fylindfotberserk , Regarding this edit mate, [7] - she may not be notable but I think we should add her name back for Educational purposes. Since he's very famous person many people would search for his mother's name too. What do you say? MRRaja001 (talk) 23:51, 14 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@MRRaja001: I believe we should refrain from giving this subject any special favors and maintain what's being said in the template documentation here ie Names of parents; include only if they are independently notable or particularly relevant.. To be fair, his father T. Ranga Rao isn't deemed notable since the article got deleted from the main space. As for educational purpose, I believe WP:READERS wouldn't stop at the infobox and the information on his parents / relatives is very much present /can be elaborated in the article body. It would be nice if you could recover T. Ranga Rao article. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 07:59, 15 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ok Mate i understood. And another thing T.Ranga Rao was Diwan of Travancore, how can he be not notable Fylindfotberserk, Can you do me a favor, can you recover the page. I'll add content to it with proper citations. Because i don't know why it was deleted. MRRaja001 (talk) 08:23, 15 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@MRRaja001: Well T.Ranga Rao seems notable. But subjects without article are typically considered non-notable in Wikipedia, however the reason for deletion of that article was not the notability of T.Ranga Rao, but because the article was created by some banned user, as you can see here. For undeletion, you can request it at WP:REFUND. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 09:06, 15 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Right now I'm working on many articles Mate. I'll request after completing these, anyways Thanks.MRRaja001 (talk)
@MRRaja001: Keep up the good work friend. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 09:21, 15 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, Mate!!! MRRaja001 (talk)15:16, 15 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Fylindfotberserk, please tag me whenever discussions on articles regarding Diplomats and Bureaucrats going on, I'm very eager to contribute in this area, Thanks MRRaja001 (talk)15:16, 15 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Sure. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 05:33, 16 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding a article

Hi Mate, I came across this article unexpectedly while searching for some saints of India. Lot of content written about him without any citations and references. I also searched about him but couldn't find a single Citation or Reference. Can you check this article once. MRRaja001 (talk) 07:48, 16 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello MRRaja001. Yeah, seems the article needs to be rewritten. I'll put a tag on that. This book might be helpful, but I'm unable to view it. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 07:59, 16 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Mate, please see the description of that book, it's written that the source of content in the book is WIKIPEDIA. MRRaja001 (talk) 9:04, 16 March 2020 (UTC)
MRRaja001, LOL I didn't even notice - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 09:08, 16 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Fylindfotberserk, As per my research he's not a notable person. He's only notable on Youtube and their self published website. Fails WP:GNG. - MRRaja001 (talk) 09:21, 16 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
MRRaja001, Exactly my thoughts the first time I checked that article. I forgot to share that with you. Looked highly promotional. Slap an AfD - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 09:36, 16 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nomination for AfD, Done !!! MRRaja001 (talk) 10:14, 16 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion

Hi mate, Can you go through the Articles created by me and give me suggestions where to improve according to Wikipedia policies. MRRaja001 (talk) 10:41, 16 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I can help, but this is a long list. It would be nice if you point me to specific articles. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 11:22, 16 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Here they are - Raghuttama Tirtha, K. T. Pandurangi, Satyabodha Tirtha, Satyanatha Tirtha, G. T. Deshpande, Satyadhyana Tirtha, G. T. Deshpande, B. N. Krishnamurti Sharma, Venu Rajamony - MRRaja001 (talk) 12:11, 16 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I'll check these and tell you in time. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 12:25, 16 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Nitin Gadkari article

Hi Fylindfotberserk, lot of vandalism is taking place on Nitin Gadkari article, many people are coming and even removing quotes in citations, can you please revert them back and request protection to the page. MRRaja001 (talk) 14:31, 16 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@MRRaja001: I've restored the quote, but if you are worried about the mention of "Deshastha Brahmin" caste, then find a source in which Gadkari himself says that he is a Brahmin. According to consensus at WP:INB, caste of a BLP (living person) need to be self-identified. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 14:41, 16 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No, not for that Fylindfotberserk. I'm not interested in Deshastha thing anymore, and no need to add his caste. I've my own interests, i'm not a casteist. The only thing is content is getting vandalised, that is the only concern i have. I have written articles even for prominent people belonging to other communities too, you can see them if you want. MRRaja001 (talk) 14:54, 16 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@MRRaja001: NO man, I wasn't making any allegation. If you thought so, then my bad. Anyone, you me, can add caste, except that it needs to be self-identified. That's what I was just conveying to you. If you are asking me to keep an eye on that article, I can do it. NO problemo. And keep up the good work. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 15:00, 16 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, please keep an eye on that article. I know that caste should be self identified, especially the living people, anyway Thanks for the caution. MRRaja001 (talk) 15:04, 16 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Fylindfotberserk, Please [read this] you'll come to know why so many quotes were added at " into a Marathi family" in Nitin Gadkari article. In January-February 2019 many people were coming and adding CKP to Nitin Gadkari article. So, i and Acharya63 decided to figure this out. That was the only reason, why so many citations with quotes are added, these quotes were added only for the clarification. MRRaja001 (talk) 15:26, 16 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@MRRaja001: Well I get that. Now that I've watchlisted it, I'll not let anybody at CKP. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 15:37, 16 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for understanding friend!!! - MRRaja001 (talk) 17:14, 16 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Need a help

Hi Fylindfotberserk, Can you tell me how to submit a Wikipage for rating. - MRRaja001 (talk) 10:18, 18 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Using this. The few articles I've created, got reviewed the next day by patrolling new page reviewers. I never created a draft or asked soemone to do the reviewing. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 10:25, 18 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No mate, i was asking for Assessment ratings like B, C etc - MRRaja001 (talk) 11:03, 18 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Oh..sorry lol, I thought.. Well you can do it yourself using tools like WP:RATER. Consensus will be needed fro higher rating articles like A, FA, etc. Visit this as well. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 11:22, 18 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks friend, I'll check them. - MRRaja001 (talk) 18:00, 18 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Fylindfotberserk, can you share me some important links, to become more aware of Wikipedia policies while creating or modifying articles, Thanks. - MRRaja001 (talk) 16:16, 18 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@MRRaja001: Oops sorry, didn't see your post since another person contacted me by then. There are some links in my profile, that can be helpful. But I edit in diverse topics though. If you want info on a specific thing, I can help you find it. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 18:09, 18 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ok Mate!!! - MRRaja001 (talk) 06:19, 19 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your opinion

Hi Fylindfotberserk, i researched a lot about Deshasthas, their migration and later their Administration and thought to contribute to Deshastha Brahmin Wikipage but now i'm in dilemma after you telling that i'm worried about "Deshastha Brahmins" and contributing to only Deshastha Brahmins. I want your opinion friend, should i continue to contribute to Deshastha Brahmin page or should i drop because, i was the person who elaborated the Classification, Demographics and the History part - especially the Millitary & Administration sections before that there was no content in these sections. I want to even contribute to other communities and other religions. Because in my opinion these things are very important. At First when i saw Deshastha Brahmin page it was unorganized even the List of Deshastha Brahmins page was unorganized and it took lot of effort to set it right. In my opinion all are equal, but without contributing and writing about them no one knows about them. This was the main reason why i decided to write about Deshasthas. I was the person who wrote about the origin, cultute, language, diet and so on in Karhade Brahmin page before that there was nothing in that page, you can see the history Mate. Anyway i'll be waiting for your reply. I'll contribute only after your reply, Thanks. - MRRaja001 (talk) 06:19, 19 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@MRRaja001: I don't remember judging you, telling that you are worried about Deshastha Brahmins only. On the contrary, I'm happy that you are doing a magnificent task expanding a lot of articles and have expressed that many times before. Now if you are pointing to this sentence in my comment above :- but if you are worried about the mention of "Deshastha Brahmin" caste, then find a source in which Gadkari himself says that he is a Brahmin.., I already explained that the comment was restricted to Nitin Gadkari's BLP article that needs self-identification. I'd have the same stand if you or somebody else writes Rajput in e.g. say Rajnath Singh article (I've removed that in the past because of self-identification issue). If someone (including you and me) finds a source in which Gadkari says "I am a Deshastha Brahmin" or "Brahmin", then by all means, they can add that. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 08:47, 19 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for misunderstanding. Ya, I agree with you, even i have removed caste of Vikram Pandit, also Corrected C. N. R. Rao's since they are BLP's. Now onwards if anyone adds caste in BLP's i'll check wheather they are self-identified or not. Anyway Thanks for the reply. - MRRaja001 (talk) 09:08, 19 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@MRRaja001: That's OK mate. Thanks for taking care of those articles. I've removed caste in Sachin Tendulkar article, since it was not slef-identified. You can check this consensus, that'll come handy when explaining people about it. There are other discussions as well. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 09:41, 19 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Sure friend!!!! - MRRaja001 (talk) 09:43, 19 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Bhaiya koi Gotibro karke profile hai jo khatri me delete kar rhi source. Aapo dekh lijiye. U see. Thank u. Pandya101 (talk) 17:32, 18 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Pandya101: Bhai, sources from British period are not considered reliable as per consensus because British sources are known for their exaggerations. That's probably the reason Gotitbro is removing that stuff. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 17:40, 18 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Pandya101: Bhai source British writer ki woh book hain, jo yeh keh rahan hain ki "Greek sources me ... wagerah wagerah". Lekin, British sources ko maanyata nahi di gayi Wikipedia ke consensus me. Wahi kaaran bataa kar Gotitbro bhai ne who content delete kiya. Aap chaahe to Gotitbro ke talkpage par kaaran poonch sakte hain. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 08:58, 19 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

shobhana date of birth

i saw that you had reverted the addition of date and month of birth of shobhana. hope you think these data is irrelevant, thank you.--Dvellakat (talk) 01:54, 20 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Dvellakat: The accompanying sources only mention her year of birth. I wasn't able to find the day and month in any reliable source. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 05:57, 20 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
sorry i will give the exact source.--Dvellakat (talk) 06:18, 20 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

User "Dinesh 2069"

Respected sir, user "Dinesh 2069" edits are improper. I request you to go through his contributions made in article Karna talk page. He opened discussion on Regard sexual assault accusation and used highly unparliamentary wordings. Even in his talk page, he used harsh language on me. So I kindly request you to look into it sir. Thank you. Your's obediently.

Sri Harsha 18:20, 21 March 2020 (UTC)

Sir, this is talk he replied me:

"Again I provided proper citations. There was no question of vandalism. You just don't want facts and have kept fake info without looking at their source and details. Atleast have the courage to admit the truth. (Dinesh2069 (talk) 07:05, 23 December 2019 (UTC))"[reply]

I'll check this in time. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 08:30, 22 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Reagrding your edit summary. Can you be more specific about the block evasion? It may be time to start semiprotecting some articles. Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 14:37, 22 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@EdJohnston: Thanks for asking. I believe banned User:Joshi punekar is behind the IP. Joshi punekar had problems with the Diet section of this caste and a few others. See the similarity [8], [9]. I could have started an SPI, but considering that the IP might change soon. A PP would be real nice sir. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 15:20, 22 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I semiprotected Gaud Saraswat Brahmin and List of Gaud Saraswat Brahmins. Let me know of any others. Thank you, EdJohnston (talk) 17:17, 22 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@EdJohnston:Sure. They were active here, but the article got PPed by MelanieN. This person is active in Marathi/Konkani Brahmin articles. I'll let you know if I come across these kind of vandalism. Thanks for protecting that article. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 17:23, 22 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding a IP Vandalism

Hi Fylindfotberserk, This person is indulging in persistent vandalism. We need to do something, Thanks - MRRaja001 (talk) 09:54, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@MRRaja001: I reverted that guy in the Maratha caste article. It seems some people choose to indulge in Wikipedia vandalism as a way to keep themselves busy in light of the coronavirus pandemic. Don't worry I'll keep an eye. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 09:59, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hahaha:)...Okay. - MRRaja001 (talk) 10:02, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

24th March 2020

I'm ChannelZone, i was made editing on Hindustani language article, i've added Zabān-e Urdū-e Mualla and Hindavi at nativename, and it's not an ban revert, because that is already written in 5th paragraph Hindustani language#History that Hindustani was called Mualla. —Preceding undated comment added 17:05, 24 March 2020 (UTC)

ChannelZone, That was the historical term of the prestige dialect. The next para writes "..only as a dialect of Hindi with admixture of Persian". So this term as its modern name is incorrect. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 17:12, 24 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Query

Do you know how many kittens you have given? DTM (talk) 14:34, 25 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@DiplomatTesterMan: To whom? You or everybody combined? - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 14:44, 25 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
To everyone of course :) do you remember when you started and why? A recent thing or old? Just asking out of curiosity. DTM (talk) 14:45, 25 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@DiplomatTesterMan: Fairly recent thing, probably since late 2018 or early 2019. Why because multiple reasons, but a lot of time in reply to a "Thank" notice. I have an urge to say "welcome" (I have mild OCD) and since cats are my favorite, you get the idea.. . - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 14:50, 25 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the explanation :) and since I put all my gifts along with the barnstars on my userpage, I have put this too. And in another way I was just thinking of it as maybe like an article for The Signpost... like somethings some people on Wikipedia do. Like that day someone corrected me when I wrote 'comprised of' and I ended finding a whole userpage written about why they do it User:Giraffedata/comprised of... but then the effort to find more uff. Getting back to what I was here for, thanks for the explanation. I actually saw the kitten on K3s page today, ive seen it a few times before, so I just had to ask. Anyway. Happy editing. DTM (talk) 15:08, 25 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please Visit talk page of Wang Yihan also. Same case as before. You may notice that now there is no more scope of improvements in any of the page and splitting it up ends as a bad decision knowing that both have very less amount of content when compared to Ratchanok Intanon, Saina Nehwal etc. Please give your view. Thanks. Zoglophie (talk) 19:53, 26 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Sir, could you please help me in expanding this article and get it to the article space (as I could not find many reliable sources for this). Thank you. Tolly4bolly 02:27, 27 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Tolly4bolly: Thanks for asking sir. I've expanded the article a little with some reliable sources. You can flesh out some more info from the sources however those are mostly about the film being unfavorably received and problems with the actress. Let me know if you could find some more information from reliable sources. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 10:09, 27 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you once again for the expansion and addition of more reliable sources. I will re-submit the article as I can't find more on the article on any reliable sources. Tolly4bolly 10:12, 27 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

help a newbie

Greetings!

Thank you for directing me here. i have neither the experience nor the knowledge in editing here on Wikipedia hence that initial editing (i apologize for my ignorance) where i went on to remove a whole section (i guess that would amount to vandalism?). i have noted your suggestion and will proceed to contribute there but before i do that i wanted to ask you few questions, i will be grateful if you can spare your time in helping me out...

is there an administrator or a curator or maybe an owner of a page? should we, always, contact them before we edit the pages? (i am asking this because it is such an inconvenience having to re-type) also regarding the relevance of the content/subject should we contact before editing and if so whom should we contact.. (also how to find out/or how do we know whom to contact?)

also if i see certain sentence/information etc which are not true/factual how do i contact the person instead of replacing the sentence or adding the information? ( for example in Nagaland page under Antiquity in the second paragraph there is this line "There have been demands by political groups in Nagaland to rename the state to Naganchi". this is not true and nowhere in Nagaland or India will one find such claim... even the word/name Naganchi has no meaning whatsoever)

(i still have a long way to go and i hope that you will continue to guide and help. Thank You once again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by H.S.Naga (talkcontribs) 12:17, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@H.S.Naga: Thanks for communicating. There are administrators in Wikipedia, but there are NO article owners. Although anyone can create an article. As for you retyping the things again and again,
  • you can go to the article history (which saves every version since the inception of the article),
  • click on the version you edited,
  • open it up in the edit window,
  • copy the contents and then paste it in the relevant article.
In your case, from Nagaland article to Naga people article. Hope this helps and let me know if you get stuck doing it. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 12:26, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by H.S.Naga (talkcontribs) 12:40, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@H.S.Naga: You are most welcome. I forgot to write about the "Naganchi" thing you asked above. That text in the article is sourced using [10] reference from Tribune India. The exact text from the source "Proposals are also there to rename Aurangabad as Sambhaji Nagar, Patna as Patliputra, Hyderabad as Bhagyanagar, Goa as Govapuri, Kerala as Keralam and Nagaland as Naganchi". Now since it is a reliable source as per Wikipedia standards, you need to open a dicussion at Talk:Nagaland. There we can decide on whether to remove it. It seems like Shiv Sena and BJP came up with this name which they claim to be the ancient name of the region. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 13:15, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Fylindfotberserk: Thank you for pointing out the 'talk on Nagaland'(still figuring out so much)... yes i saw the cited page and went through the source...and yes you are right regarding either SS or BJP coming up with proposal as we no one in Nagaland knows about such proposal...anyway i guess it does not matter much to the people concerned (Nagas) and i was concerned because it was not relevant (and also misleading to say that political groups are demanding such, because one reads it as Nagas themselves demanding for change in nomenclature and not by other states)... anyway Thanks for your time.
