Proposed deletion of List of Advanced Placement Courses Offered by Amador Valley High School

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article List of Advanced Placement Courses Offered by Amador Valley High School, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

inappropriate content notability

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Amador Valley High School PR, 2nd look

[edit]

Hi Deltawk. I'll take another look as soon as I can and post further remarks to the article's PR page. I have some other commitments, so it might take me until late in the week to get to it. Finetooth (talk) 05:47, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I will be happy to copyedit the article and see if I find anything "amiss", in the words of my esteemed colleague. However, I have some other commitments, so it may take me a week or so. If you don't hear from me by 1 August, please drop a reminder on my talk page. Cheers! Scartol • Tok 12:16, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No need to hesitate when reminding me to do what I said I would do. Sorry for the delay; it's been a hectic couple of weeks. I will get to it this weekend for sure. (If for some reason I haven't finished by Monday 10 August, please leave another note on my talk page.) Scartol • Tok 13:50, 7 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I haven't finished my review yet. Sorry about that! I've only made it about 1/3 of the way through the article. I should be able to complete my review by tomorrow, and I'll post some comments to the PR page or the article talk page. Scartol • Tok 22:21, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I've finished my review — comments and questions are on the article talk page. Good luck with this article if/when you take it to WP:FAC! I commend you on your dedication to it. Scartol • Tok 13:34, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Paul Korver requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. I have nominated Corinne Tu, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Corinne Tu. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Deltawk, I have removed your second nomination of Amador Valley High School at FAC. • Hello! Thank you for your comments and your support on the article! The section about the building of the theater does seem slightly out of place, but there's not really another part of the article that deals with culture. Heads up

[edit]

I am probably going to be taking Amador Valley High School to FAR (Featured Article Review) some time next week. The article is not comprehensive enough IMHO. There are a couple of improvements you can make before I do that:

1. Could you modify this paragraph:

"From 1922 to 1988, the school was part of the AVJUHSD... In the late 1930s, the Amador Theater was built as part of the Amador Valley High School campus."

To say where exactly on the campus the theater was built. I would also appreciate a map of the campus.

2. Could you check that [2] and [3] are the same story?

3. Needs a list of principles. Needs a paragraph or so about the first principle in the history section, and any other principles who worked at Amador for more than 15 years.

Ottre 04:36, 20 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi Ottre,
First of all, thank you for helping improve the court battle section of the page. I will try to address your concerns and add the information to the article that you feel necessary.
  • 1. I have added information about where the theater was built and have also added a map of the campus
  • 2. The articles are the same story. Is there a duplicate reference that I need to remove?
  • 3. I will do research on principals
Deltawk (talk) 04:45, 21 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ottre, thanks for your attention to the article that I worked on a bit (and that Delawk has worked on so very much). I urge you not to take this piece to WP:FAR at this time, for two important reasons:
  1. The guidelines there state: Three to six months is regarded as the minimum time between promotion and nomination here, unless there are extenuating circumstances such as a radical change in article content. It's been less than a month, and clearly there are no such circumstances.
  2. Deltawk is one of the most dedicated and open-minded editors I've worked with in quite some time. He's been diligent, friendly, and very happy to incorporate others' suggestions. If you think the article needs work, I suggest putting notes on the article talk page. If they are ignored (which I'll bet money won't happen), then you can proceed to FAR.
Cheers! Scartol • Tok 11:58, 23 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Scartol, thank you for the support of the featured article status of Amador Valley High School. To Ottre - I do my best to be friendly and responsive to any suggestions. Like Scartol suggested, please leave any comments you have for article on its talk page and I will do my best to address them. Happy Holidays - Deltawk (talk) 01:22, 25 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Main page appearance: Amador Valley High School

[edit]

This is a note to let the main editors of Amador Valley High School know that the article will be appearing as today's featured article on June 19, 2012. You can view the TFA blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/June 19, 2012. If you prefer that the article appear as TFA on a different date, or not at all, please ask featured article director Raul654 (talk · contribs) or his delegate Dabomb87 (talk · contribs), or start a discussion at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured article/requests. If the previous blurb needs tweaking, you might change it—following the instructions at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/requests/instructions. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. The blurb as it stands now is below:

Amador Valley High School scheduled for TFA

[edit]

This is to let you know that the Amador Valley High School article has been scheduled as today's featured article for October 20, 2022. Please check the article needs no amendments. If you're interested in editing the main page text, you're welcome to do so at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/October 20, 2022, but note that a coordinator will trim the lead to around 1000 characters anyway, so you aren't obliged to do so.

For Featured Articles promoted recently, there will be an existing blurb linked from the FAC talk page, which is likely to be transferred to the TFA page by a coordinator at some point.

We suggest that you watchlist Wikipedia:Main Page/Errors from the day before this appears on Main Page. Thanks! Jimfbleak - talk to me? 14:34, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Jim! I do not believe that the article needs any amendments, but I will keep watch on it in the interim. Deltawk (talk) 15:34, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Deltawk. Typically, we strip out "less essential" things to create a blurb, and dated information is often one of the first things we look for to pull. Numbers that change easily, or are hard to verify, is another category of things that tend to get pulled. But we can put in anything you feel strongly about that can be supported ... does the current blurb work for you? - Dank (push to talk) 03:09, 14 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Dank, the current blurb does indeed work for me-thank you for improving it! Would you be able to help with one correction though (I don't think I have permissions to edit it anymore)?
