Blocked for edit-warring
I've blocked you for 48 hours for edit-warring at Ray Allen, Gabe Pruitt, Scot Pollard, and Tony Allen. Although you haven't gotten a 3RR warning, this edit summary suggests to me that you know what's going on enough to know that edit-warring is not OK. Please discuss reversions on the talk page and achieve consensus before reverting. Discussing via edit summaries is usually just a good way to fill page histories with angry missives. Use that talk page! You may request review with {{unblock|your reason here}}. I'm also leaving you a welcome message that may be helpful for the links.--chaser - t 06:42, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

Request reason:
I sincerely apologize for the edits that resulted in various "wars", but the user Downwards was intentionally boycotting various edits I have made. It started with me editing all the information boxes for Boston Celtics players to a common scheme, and once Downwards realized that, he started to revert my edits and provoke me by minor edits that weren't necessary at all, some of them were also inappropriate. I am just trying to keep up the information of the Boston Celtics, but even when giving a legitimate reason for my edits, Downwards sometimes decided to have it his own way. Downwards is already known for trying to have it his own way and undoing other people's edits repeatedly. I promise this will not happen again.
Decline reason:
Unfortunately, the rules against edit-warring don't include an exception that allows you to edit-war as long as you are right. Edit-warring is pointless (because someone else can always revert back, forever) and disruptive, so there are other steps in the dispute resolution process that we use instead. Wait out your 48 hours reading about dispute resolution and watching other people use the process, and then try out some of those strategies when your block expires. — FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 12:22, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

- Thank you for the apology. It's alright. I've unblocked you under a few conditions. The first is that you don't revert any of the relevant articles until you've come to a consensus about what to do. The second (related to the first), is that you pursue dispute resolution with Downwards. The page on dispute resolution has process-heavy stuff like formal mediation, but the first step is just talking to the other editor. To reiterate the above, talk pages are better than edit summaries for that. You can post to Downwards' talk page while he's blocked (just don't goad him or anything). If you two fail to come to an agreement, a third opinion is often useful in a two-person dispute. One final note: you may be "correct" about how the articles should go, but everyone thinks they're right in an edit war. Best practice is to have a talk about it. Cheers.--chaser - t 17:06, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you. I will try to talk to him in a nice way and will not disappoint the admins. 8-Hype 18:35, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
Conflict with Downwards
Downwards, you can discuss it with me and I am willing to listen to you. This has gotten out of control. Let's find a way we will all be content. 8-Hype 07:06, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
Blocked again
I've reblocked you for the original 48 hours and blocked Downwards for a week. You promised me this would not happen again and then when Downwards evaded his block you were right back at it with him. I'm disappointed, but I'd rather have the article editable by most people than no one, so I've semiprotected it and blocked the pair of you.--chaser - t 20:59, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
- I really don't know why you did this to me. I didn't revert 3 edits in 24 hours, it was just one which didn't really result in war. | 8-Hype 13:40, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
- I don't think my most recent block is really justified. In the Kevin Garnett article, I did a few edits, and none of them was direct reverting to Downwards' edits. After you unblocked me, I did three edits in that article. In the first edit, I just reshuffled his positions and didn't delete information that was added by Downwards, although I didn't agree with the added information. In the second and third edits, I reverted edits which were meant to be obvious vandalism. I did not get into a war, I made legitimate edits to preserve the article from getting corrupted. This is why I request you to please reduce my block from 48 hours to 24 hours. Thank you. | 8-Hype 14:39, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
- It was mainly this revert that prompted it. You're right that you didn't violated 3RR again. I should have been more clear. It's that you reverted after I said I was unblocking you under the condition that you not revert anything until consensus was achieved. We're not there yet, and reverting back and forth doesn't help.--chaser - t 20:51, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
What happened now?
(unblock-auto|1=84.109.64.229|2=Autoblocked because your IP address was recently used by "8-Hype". The reason given for 8-Hype's block is: "started edit-warring again".|3=Chaser|4=688557)
I don't get it. "Autoblocked because your IP address was recently used by "8-Hype". The reason given for 8-Hype's block is: "started edit-warring again"? Of course, I used my own IP address, my block has expired 7 minutes ago and now I have been autoblocked because I used my own IP address? This doesn't make no sense. Please unblock me. | 8-Hype 21:01, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
- That's odd. Trick of the server, I suppose. As I understand, autoblocks always last 24 hours and this is sometimes a problem with shorter blocks, but this block was 48 hours... anyway, should be okay, try again? – Luna Santin (talk) 21:05, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
Thank you, that was really fast. Editing works flawlessly now. | 8-Hype 21:06, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
Boston Celtics Game Log
I have seen that you have been busying editing the celtics game log but do you think the link should be to the box score instead of to the recap. what do you think. i just think its better to have a uniform system because thats how the other teams have been set up, well most of them. i know individuals can look after their own teams throughout the season but to make it all the same what do you think.
i think u have set it up pretty well. there maybe only one other team or a couple that have set it up like that, the others have the usual 9 columns excluding rebounds and assists. but im not going to change them all to your style. it will take too long, ill just take care of the cavs as it is. do u know of any other nba fans out there who can be bothered to update the other teams log where some are still empty? the heat for example. i havent got that much time on my hands!Roadrunnerz45 (talk) 02:33, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
- The other teams' game log really doesn't bother me. I want the Celtics to be best not only on the court, but also in Wikipedia. So I take best care of all of the articles connected to the Celtics. Also, the box score is a fact, thus I don't think you need to link directly to the box score, instead I linked them to ESPN's recap, which has diagrams in it sometimes. It is just another way to set the Celtics apart from the other teams. By the way, the box score is available through just one click. | 8-Hype (talk) 02:58, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
One other thing
Since you want to make the Celtics the best page here and i understand after all these years you must have been down in the dumps and now they are contenders, do you think on the 07-08 page, you should put the Atlantic division standings template instead of having to change each individual team's one. I know that you dont care about the other teams but it would save a lot of time you know. I assume you know how to do it. Roadrunnerz45 (talk) 07:38, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
- I think this is not necessary, as the Atlantic template has less information. | 8-Hype (talk) 14:28, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
Going to change it
I am going to change the standings to the template for the above reasons. It has got the exact same info. as the current one. Trust me, this makes things a whole lot easier. Just make sure you know this page and thats it. [1] Anyway your team is cruising so there should be no probs Roadrunnerz45 (talk) 03:44, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
- You shouldn't have changed it as it was perfect already. So I am going to change it back. You should've changed it only by mutual consent, but you didn't even ask me. So next time, before you try to change something about the standings, let's please come to an agreement beforehand. | 8-Hype (talk) 12:52, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
OK, Im asking Now
See it from the point of view of simplicity. The template and the one you have are exactly the same info. except the games played in your one comes up last. If you change the template then it automatically changes where all the Atlantic division standings are located. I know your keeping the standings updated pretty much everyday so wouldn't it be better if this goes to all the other teams in the division as well? I wont be able to keep it going everyday like you but since it has exactly the same info. then i dont see why not. Its up to you. If you decide to leave it, im not going to change it. Happy wikipeding and dont get too excited about the Celtics yet! Roadrunnerz45 02:47, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
- Don't worry, I am keeping the Atlantic template. However, I just changed the Atlantic template to make it look better. | 8-Hype 14:14, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
ESPN recaps
Hi, I have seen that on some of the edits the recaps have a different url but they go to the same page. As in some are: sports.espn.go.com/nba etc. and others are scores.espn.go.com/nba etc. Do you know what the difference is? Kind of funny dont you think?Roadrunnerz45 (talk) 07:32, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
"American" date format
Read up. The date preferences are set by the user. It does not matter whether it's day/month or month/day. The comma is also redundant. Again, read up. Chensiyuan (talk) 12:54, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
- That's exactly why you shouldn't change it in the first place and keep it as it was before (Month DD, YYYY). | 8-Hype (talk) 15:06, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
- I suppose you don't understand the WP:MOS (and English, whichever the variant) *at all*. It's okay, as long as you keep avoiding the Celtics FAC debacle. Again. Chensiyuan (talk) 08:40, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

Nationality
hi no offence, and have it your way, I'm not gonna try and war with such a character like you, but your reasoning about the "USA", or 'proof' as you call it, is kind of weak. Giving an irrelevant golf site to back up your claims is feeble.. and your Tim Duncan example means nothing. How about:

Everyone's entitled to edit what they want. It's all passion-driven. At bottom, it's a matter of who has been constructive. You've contributed little nothing of much value to this encyclopedia. Pure and simple. Chensiyuan (talk) 14:49, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

- You call me a Raptors fanboy, but that's funny because I've been upkeeping lots of Celtics articles. Go on, look up the edit history of Bill Russell, Bob Cousy and Red Auerbach -- all Boston greats, and all good and featured articles. Even the Tim Duncan FA which you cite to others is written principally by me and a collaborator of mine. I won't even start on other FAs I write on other sports... so you just do your thing and I do mine. Good luck. Chensiyuan (talk) 00:30, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hey, I really appreciate your work. I just wanted to point that out, it wasn't meant to be offensive. Keep up the good work! ● 8-Hype (talk|contributions)

Boston Celtics is almost at FA. I'm going to add some references to the sections that are unreferenced, but the lead section still needs to be exoaned (badly). Any ideas? - Milk's Favorite Cookie 20:08, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

- Stormtracker made those edits because they are part of the Boston Celtics FA "to-do" list. I reverted your edits, unless of course you don't want Boston Celtics to ever reach FA? - Milk's Favorite Cookie 14:05, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
You've got to be kidding me. He deleted two viable parts of the article, added one in an unproper way (without links etc.) and posted a link to the Celtics history, although the main article has all of what the history article has. And if you want to update the main article, you also have to do with the history article. Totally redundant, I think. And the history should actually be a part of the main Celtics article, because it is about the Celtics. ● 8-Hype (talk|contributions) 18:22, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
- If you look at several other NFL or NBA FA's you will see that they have separate articles about these teams history. It's part of this to-do list, as well as other NBA future FA's. Maybe you should talke a look at the todo list?- Milk's Favorite Cookie 18:25, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
But why does he delete viable parts of the article? And if the history has a seperate article, all of the history part must be deleted on the main article. You're duplicating information. ● 8-Hype (talk|contributions) 18:27, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
- You do make a good point. Is there a way we can work together to see what parts we need to remove? When Milk's Favorite Cookie nominated it for FA, one of the oppose reasons was the history section was too long. It also suffers from WP:RECENTISM. STORMTRACKER 94 Go Sox! 19:03, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
Of course we can work together. But also, please keep my legit edits, don't revert my entire edit. But where can I discuss what parts should be removed? ● 8-Hype (talk|contributions) 19:05, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
- Probably on the article's talk page. STORMTRACKER 94 Go Sox! 19:09, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
Boston Celtics colors
I saw you were coloring the titles of some templates related to Boston Celtics from white to gold. I just wanted to help you out. I think we should decide whether to use gold for all templates or use white instead. You can't use gold for some templates and white for others. It should be either white titles for all Boston Celtics related templated or gold titles.--Crzycheetah 09:54, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
- I agree, but the Championship templates have room for white and gold. For other templates, I just added a little gold trim to the sides, but the middle (the title) should be white, so that all three colors exist. If it's too white or too gold in the middle, it doesn't look good, so that why the Championship templates have both color in the title. ● 8-Hype (talk|contributions) 10:01, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
- Those links to the [v d e] and show/hide should have the same color as titles. I suggest you use gold as a background for those championship templates.--Crzycheetah 10:07, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
- See, {{Boston Celtics 1956-57 NBA champions}} for an example.--Crzycheetah 10:11, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
- Wow, great idea! But please keep the "v d e" of the Boston Celtics template gold, as the "v d e" in the Boston Celtics season and Boston Celtics Head Coaches is also gold. It just looks better. Keep up the Celtic pride! ● 8-Hype (talk|contributions) 10:21, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, now I see what you're up to. Yeah, keep the "v d e" white and make the background gold. Really great idea! ● 8-Hype (talk|contributions) 10:24, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
- I just want to mention that in the {{Boston Celtics}} and {{Boston Celtics roster}} templates, there are subtitles which have gold background, so background coloring isn't needed. By the way, I am not a Celtics fan.--Crzycheetah 10:29, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks anyway for the help! ● 8-Hype (talk|contributions) 10:33, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
AfD nomination of 2007-08 Cleveland Cavaliers depth chart
I have nominated 2007-08 Cleveland Cavaliers depth chart, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2007-08 Cleveland Cavaliers depth chart. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. AllynJ (talk | contribs) 14:38, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
- I think you should just leave it there because the depth chart on the Boston Celtics page hasn't been nominated for deletion so AllynJ must not be a Cleveland Cavaliers fan. I can't see any other reason why. As far as i know AllynJ is the only user that has nominated it for deletion. Roadrunnerz45 (talk) 23:57, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
- It must be deleted, becaue I have another one in the Cleveland article, named Template:2007-08 Cleveland Cavaliers depth chart. It's just that I forgot to add the "Template:" at the beginning when I created it, so I just created a new one. Delete the old one, please. Thank you. ● 8~Hype @ 08:25, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Boston Celtics colors (Part 2)
I thought we had agreed on the colors. Template:Boston Celtics, Template:Boston Celtics seasons and Template:BostonCelticsCoach all should have a gold trim, as gold is even in the team's logo. The Celtics will also wear gold in their St. Patrick's Day jerseys in the third week of March. Besides, you said that green and white are the colors of the Celtics, but gold is the color you added yourself to Template:Boston Celtics (when you click "show", gold is clearly visible). ● 8~Hype @ 10:20, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
- "Gold is the third color for the Celtics after green and white. Gold should be used whenever a third color is needed. I don't see any need to color [v d e] differently, it just makes the heading of the template look like a christmas tree. In addition, all NBA teams use two colors most of the time and use their alternate color for special occasions only, (like St. Patrick's day). Why should the Celtics be different and nonconsistent with other NBA teams?--Crzycheetah 11:05, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Come on, Crzycheetah, it just looks chicer. ;) ● 8~Hype @ 11:12, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
- We're not here to make things chicer, are we? Two colors should be used in headings: one for the background and the other for text. White and green colors symbolize Celtics better than gold. I hope you reconsider your position and revert your edits--Crzycheetah 11:20, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Do whatever you feel is needed. If you revert my edits, I won't change it back to gold. I just feel that it looks more appropriate with gold (it's just very little gold, anyway). ● 8~Hype @ 11:23, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

TfD nomination of Template:2007-08 Boston Celtics depth chart
Template:2007-08 Boston Celtics depth chart has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the template's entry on the Templates for Deletion page. Thank you. — Crzycheetah 21:03, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
Re:Boston Celtics all-time roster
In NBA, as opposed to MLB and NFl, seasons start in one year and end in the next. If you state that Cassell has played in 2008, it will not be clear when exactly he played: in 2007-08 or 2008-09. That's why here at Wikipedia all NBA and NHL pages state the seasonal years and not calendar. It would be better if you correct the ones that are wrongly listed, than change the correct ones. Also, you're asking me whether 2005-06 correct or 2005-2006, well the correct format is 2005-2006, but that's secondary. The most important thing is that seasonal years should be listed. NBA.com does this, ESPN.com, and all books about NBA.--Crzycheetah 21:08, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
Depth chart templates
Yes, the one time use of something like a depth chart should be hard-coded into an article. One-use content is not appropriate for the template namespace. If depth chart templates are considered at TfD, they should properly be substituted and then deleted. RyanGerbil10(Kick 'em in the Dishpan!) 16:55, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
- Be patient. If you take the time to nominate depth chart templates at WP:TFD, I assure they will be deleted. Please do not recreate the deleted template, that would violate #G4 of the speedy deletion criteria. If you mention this deletion as precedent in the ensuing TfD nominations of other depth chart templates, that would only help the case for deletion. Speedy deletion of Alexander Suesskind
A tag has been placed on Alexander Suesskind requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Wisdom89 (T / C) 20:14, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
Sihugo Green
You recently added the Boston Celtics 1965-66 NBA champions template to the Sihugo Green article. Can you confirm that Sihugo Green received a championship ring for the 1965-66 season? While he played in 10 regular season games for the Celtics that season, he did not play in any of their playoff games. My impression is that he was no longer on the roster during the playoffs and was thus not eligible for a championship ring. If you have evidence otherwise, please notify me. Thanks. — Myasuda (talk) 20:59, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
- According to page 229 of this year's media guide, he was part of the team. And a player doesn't have to play in playoff games to be officially on a championship roster. He must just be under contract with the team during that time. Scot Pollard, for example, would get a ring if the Celtics won the championship this season, even though he won't play in the playoffs (out for season). ● 8~Hype @ 21:11, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
- I am aware of everything you've stated. But you haven't provided evidence that Sihugo Green was still a part of the roster during the post-season. Incidentally, this is why Butler is not eligible for a ring (he was traded mid-season). However, I do have evidence that Sauldsberry was, so that's why he can remain on the 1965-66 championship template. — Myasuda (talk) 00:10, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
- It looks like you haven't been very careful with your updates. Several of the players you've added to the templates were traded mid-season. Please be more careful in the future. — Myasuda (talk) 00:15, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
- I will re-check the templates while keeping in mind the transactions. ● 8~Hype @ 00:18, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
- Interesting find! My opinion would be that if Palazzi actually received a championship ring (not clear from the article), then he should be included on the championship template. But of course, I shouldn't have a disproportionate say in this matter. Why don't you take it to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject National Basketball Association and see what the community at large thinks. I'll abide by whatever consensus is obtained. — Myasuda (talk) 02:31, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

Height and Weight
I was just wondering why you would add the height and weight to the Template:Infobox NBAretired, I dont think its need there retired so it is pointless to have them.--Yankees10 23:31, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
The thing is you can check on other websites for that, maybe you should bring it to WP:NBA and see whether people think it should be there or not, because it was decided with the football ones that it was pointless and I think it would be the same with the basketball ones--Yankees10 00:13, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
You've done a great job and deserve to be rewarded
Just want to say i think you should nominate the Boston Celtics 2007-08 Season as a good article, in fact it deserves to be a featured article. You have done a great job updating the pages and staying in touch with the news from the very start of the season and deserve to be rewarded by having the article preserved. I have no doubt it will get done, i dont know how the process works but it would be a shame if you didn't nominate it. The only thing missing was the pictures and now you've added 2. This was the final step. Thanks, and great work! Roadrunnerz45 (talk) 10:59, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you very much! Yeah, I've pretty much watched every game and read through every ESPN game recap and Boston Globe/Herald article and updated this page with all the needed information from there. I will definitely nominate it, but maybe you can help me? I asked on some talk page, but they said the season's not finished yet and therefore can't be nominated just yet. Hey, maybe you can get me a "True Celtic Barnstar" from the Boston Celtics WikiProject? I would love it! ● 8~Hype @ 11:06, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

Hello, can you explain why you reverted my edits to the Celtics' game log, which were in accordance with WP:DASH? —LOL (talk) 21:51, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
- I am sorry. I just thought it was an unnecessary edit, but obviously it wasn't. ● 8~Hype @ 22:17, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
- It's okay. Thanks for the quick response. I just want to let you know that I've restored the dashes, and I think we should be enforcing the en dash because the manual of style says, "Hyphens are often wrongly used for disjunction in Wikipedia; this is especially common in sports scores." —LOL (talk) 22:24, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
Hi. You reported an IP to AIV, and I have declined the report. While some of the IPs edits do not seem to be productive, and the IP is not discussing disputed edits in the proper way, there does not seem to be overt vandalism for which a block would be in order. I've cautioned the IP to discuss such disputed changes before making them, and I'll monitor as I can. If there are further shenanigans, please report them to the Administrator's Noticeboard for Incidents at WP:ANI, as this goes beyond the simple vandalism that AIV handles. Thanks, UltraExactZZ Claims ~ Evidence 13:37, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry we weren't able to help out this time around, and sorry you had to report multiple times. I've watchlisted some of the problem articles, and I'll keep an eye on the IP's contributions; If they revert without discussing, or if they revert a good faith edit as vandalism, ping me and I'll block if I'm around. For your reference, the report and discussion were moved to the talk page at WT:AIV. Thanks, UltraExactZZ Claims ~ Evidence 13:59, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Highlighting team-highs in player stats
Hey, I'm just wondering what the standard is for highlighting cells in the player statistics tables. At 2007-08 Boston Celtics season#Player statistics, Ray Allen's 35.9 MPG is highlighted, but Paul Pierce's MPG is also 35.9 and is not highlighted. Is it an error that Paul Pierce's is not highlighted, or is only the first occurrence of the team-high supposed to be highlighted?
I was going to update the Celtics' playoff statistics, but I'd like to verify with you what should be highlighted. Here's what I got:
Player | GP | GS | MPG | FG% | 3FG% | FT% | RPG | APG | SPG | BPG | PPG |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Kevin Garnett | 5 | 5 | 37.8 | .457 | 1.000 | .880 | 8.8 | 3.6 | 2.20 | 1.20 | 21.4 |
Paul Pierce | 5 | 5 | 33.2 | .453 | .480 | .708 | 4.6 | 4.8 | 1.20 | .20 | 17.4 |

Hi there. Although there are many basketball, football and hockey season pages for previous years that still need to be done, the pattern you used for the 08-09 NBA season pages is superlative. I really like your use of colour. It is a wonderful innovation and adds a nice touch to the pages. I'll be sure to keep in touch. Cheers Maple Leaf (talk) 21:58, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

Regarding this message: Although I doubt unsuperscripted ordinal suffixes cause confusion, I'm fine with just removing the ordinal suffixes. I'll do that. —LOL (talk) 21:17, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
By the way, please don't persist in using superscripts for the ordinal suffixes because, as you should know, it's a direct violation of the official guidelines. If you'd like to justify them, then take it up to Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style (dates and numbers). Also, please don't change dashes to hyphens if the dash is justified by WP:DASH (as you did here). —LOL (talk) 22:14, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Game Logs
Good day. Your comments are out of line regarding the Game Logs. You have no right to tell me what to do. I am working very hard. On various baseball articles, there are many logs and roster templates that are empty. If the bullying persists, you shall be reported. Maple Leaf (talk) 19:14, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
No joke here. You should review WP:CIVIL. Based on the comments of other people on your talk page, you have rubbed others the wrong way. I do not want to start a flame war because no one wins. You are a hard, tireless worker and I like the energy that you bring. The impression I get is that your way is the better way.
The only reason I feel that your comments regarding the game logs were out of line is that you did not explain why I should stop creating an empty game log. Your comments came across as if you were in charge. If you would have explained why the game logs should not be empty (either a style issue or a policy for the WikiProject), I would have reacted differently.
What happens when the 08-09 NBA season starts and other users have different styles or points of view they would like to add to the article?
You may be highly focused and dedicated but there needs to be give and take. You're obviously a smart guy and I think you know that you cannot always have it your own way. If you are blocked from using Wikipedia, you will have no one to blame but yourself. The bottom line is that I do not want to see you blocked because your dedication will be missed. Cheers Maple Leaf (talk) 20:56, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

I just noticed that the {{USA}} (and similar) templates you added to the Celtics players' infoboxes display a flag; this is forbidden according to Wikipedia:MOSFLAG#Not for use in locations of birth and death. —LOL (talk) 22:33, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Regarding this message: I wanted to have all the NBA team seasons pages standardized before I create another season record template. Currently there are many different formats (e.g. Cavaliers, Pacers, Magic, Spurs), and I want one (relatively) simple template to fit them all. I'm planning on doing this task during the off-season, when all the seasons pages are stable. I don't find this issue to be very urgent because there's only one page to be updated completely manually until the 2008–09 regular season. —LOL (talk) 21:16, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
To be honest, I'm personally not satisfied for the following reasons:
- Too much bold text. I can understand Won and Lost, but it's not necessary for the conference and division clinches because the cells are already in colour. Likewise, an NBA championship is already denoted by the orange background, so "NBA Finals" should not be bold.
- Redundant colouring. To indicate, for instance, an NBA championship for that year, colouring just one of the cells in that row will suffice.
- If the colours of the NBA, conference and division titles are to be displayed in the same year, then the playoff berth colour should also be displayed for consistency. One might argue that it is redundant to display the berth colour because any one of the three titles automatically means the team clinched a berth, but it would be illogical because an NBA title automatically means the team won the conference title.
- Imagine printing the table. I understand that it helps navigation to have one column that links to the NBA season pages and another that links to the team's season pages, but it doesn't make sense to have exactly the same text in both columns. I would get rid of the "Season" column and then rename "Team" to "Season", but I'm not sure what you would do.
- Although a minor issue, it would be ideal to have colours that are distinguishable in greyscale because black-and-white printers are still very common. I don't think bold text is the best way to solve this because the colours get wasted. Below is a comparison of the table in greyscale, and I find it particularly difficult to tell the difference between a plain background and the division title background.
1956-57 | 1956-57 | East | 1st | Eastern | 1st | 44 | 28 | .611 | Won Division Finals (Syracuse, 3-0) Won NBA Finals (St. Louis, 4-3) |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|

I don't know why you pretty much forbid me from removing the images, but per your request I left a note on the talk page. I don't know why, since I doubt anybody really reads the messages on the talk pages, but whatever. 166.129.41.85 (talk) 02:32, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
Similarly, if you're going to make a case that "40th Anniversary Team Celebration" is the official title of the event, I'd really like to see a source, since I can't find any reputable sources stating that that is the official title. Regardless of that fact, though, it is not a title that should be italicized (we don't italicize NBA Finals, for example). Samer (talk) 02:53, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

You are not the final authority on articles involving the Boston Celtics and the NBA. Your reverting of my and other editors edits make Wikipedia editors not want to participate in improving article. That may be your goal, but it is not the goal for Wikipedia.
Regarding my edits on the Lakers-Celtics rivalry article, it is not correct that you keep reverting. Because the 2008 matchup is "ongoing", neither team should be in the "champion" or "opponent" column. You should also take things to a talk page before getting into edit wars. — X96lee15 (talk) 15:34, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
The champion of a series is the winner, not the leader, regardless of whether or not the series is "ongoing". Please be aware of WP:3RR. Also, Wikipedia is not a crystal ball, so your prediction that "The Celtics will finish off the Lakers in just 36 more hours" is not a valid reason. —LOL (talk) 19:05, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
NBA expansion drafts
Well, I'm pretty much done editing them as far as I'm concerned. However, be aware that once an article is in the Wikipedia mainspace, it should be considered open to anyone. What other editors often do, if they want to create content without input from others, is develop the page in their own sandbox. Once the work is completed in the sandbox, then they release it to the project. You might consider taking this route in the future. — Myasuda (talk) 19:36, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

Congrats
They did it!!! A lot of the players on that team deserved it. Let's hope it does not take the Celtics another 22 years. Maple Leaf (talk) 17:11, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

Ray Allen
First you describe my edits as "poorly worded"--which is risible in and of itself--but now you claim "underhand" [sic] removal of info? Would you please tell me precisely what info I actually removed that is relevant to this article? (That the All-Star game was played in New Orleans this year does not count; it makes no difference where the game is played.) Samer (talk) 16:38, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
Quoting from your message on my page in italics.
- You improperly (leaving "]]") removed a picture of Garnett, which was not necessary.
OK--that was a mistake on my part, and certainly not intentional. (If I wanted it gone, I would have either deleted the whole thing or just commented it out.)
- You changed the lead part although there was absolutely no need for a change.
- In the section "key dates" you talk about past events in present tense, and add the excessive words "the Celtics" before each sentence.
There is nothing inherently wrong with listing a timeline in the present; that's a fairly common practice. That said, the part about ending the Rockets' streak needs to be clarified.
- You shortened the section "awards", although each award needs to be mentioned seperately, as this is a list, not an article.
I think this is a matter of personal taste, and don't have a significant problem with leaving it as is, although I do prefer to have articles shorter rather than longer.
- You added the word "awards" to sub-sections.
That's a minor quibble, in the grand scheme of things, and not one I'm going to argue over.
- I am positive that we can work this out without any problems, and I would like you to discuss with me any changes you make to this article, because I wrote it with my own blood. ● 8~Hype @ 20:12, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
A couple of things here:
- Nothing in WP requires me to seek your approval for making changes. That said,
- I would rather not have an antagonistic relationship, but that's going to depend on you, too.
- Similarly, you need to understand that your edits are not all optimal. As a key case in point, consider the statement about Rivers being the All-Star coach. The article, as you edited it, states that it was because the Celtics won that game. However, it is not because of the win itself, but rather the implications that win had for the standings, that made Rivers the coach as a result of the win. That needs to be clarified in some way.
[edit] Ray Allen
- You poorly re-worded the All-Star and 40th Anniversary part, which was totally redundant, and although I reverted it yesterday, you still had it your own way. You added the same information while performing other changes. That's why it is underhanded. ● 8~Hype @ 20:23, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
"Poorly worded" implies that your wording is objectively better, which I don't think is the case (though I'm not arguing mine is objectively better, either). That said, your use of 40th Anniversary Team Celebration was like a moth to a flame, so to speak; as I've pointed out, I cannot find any reference to an event by that exact name--even on the Bucks' pages talking about that anniversary team--which makes the italicization look even sillier, in my book.
All of that said, in terms of the logic of the article, that paragraph--regardless of how it's ultimately worded--really does belong with the Bucks section, rather than in the middle of the Celtics section. Samer (talk) 20:57, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
Awards
"If not quotes or italic text, how should we else point out the official name of the award?"
At the moment, the same way that it appears in newspaper articles, press releases, etc.--capitalization. Ideally, though, there would be an article that one could link to, which would serve to set it off, at least the first time it appears in a section. Samer (talk) 02:33, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
I reverted nearly all your good faith edits on List of Boston Celtics head coaches. There should be two (2) ways to identify the subject per WP:COLORS. Second, the table cannot be different from its orignial state, because it must follow the format of other head coaches list (see List of Buffalo Sabres head coaches, List of Detroit Red Wings head coaches etc. - which are all featured.) This list is at FLC, and the same format is required - tell me if you have any further questions. « Milk's Favorite Cøøkie 12:57, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
We can definitely use the table - has the same "basic" format.Wr should revert it to this diff. There should be two (2) ways to identify the subject per WP:COLORS and WP:ACCESSIBILITY. Second, the images should be upright per WP:MOS#Images. Tell me what you think... « Milk's Favorite Cøøkie 13:04, 26 June 2008 (UTC)- Actually, we can't - you may want too look at List of San Antonio Spurs head coaches. The only reason List of Detroit Red Wings head coaches failed FLC was because of its different format. « Milk's Favorite Cøøkie 13:06, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
- Okay - I reverted it back - now that I look at it, the way is also better referenced. If you have any objections, simply take it to my talk page. Thanks, « Milk's Favorite Cøøkie 13:15, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

- Reply I hadn't reverted everything you did, I just moved the links that you moved to External links back to the references since those were used to create the list it should be included in the references section not External links. And I reverted user lead sentence per the discussion at Wikipedia_talk:Featured_list_candidates#Straight_repetitions_of_the_title_in_the_opening_sentence And also I removed the entire list from the main Boston Celtics page because the head coaches page already exists and has that table, so there is no point in having the same table on two articles. Gman124 (talk) 18:39, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
- Actually I do like the idea of adding the Seasons column that you had added to the table you created. Gman124 (talk) 18:44, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

Reversions
Hi there 8-Hype,
Ok, I understand the coding issue and won't change that anymore. However, I don't think the Beasley mention is redundant, since most users wouldn't make the connection between Kansas St., Beasley and Walker that fans like you and I would. Also, I think that a lead has to assert notability and simply being an American basketball player isn't an assertion. The same could be said for me, but I don't deserve an article (yet). Thoughts?--Thomas.macmillan (talk) 16:58, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
Ignoring Wikipedia rules again
Regarding, 2008–09 Detroit Pistons season, you continue to ignore Wikipedia rules. References to D. J. White should include the space between the "D." and the "J." per this: Wikipedia:Naming conventions (common names)#Exceptions. "DJ" is his "common" name, per www.nba.com and countless other sources. However, as noted above, the WP MOS says people with initials as "first names" should include a space between the initials. — X96lee15 (talk) 17:03, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
- FYI, I've inquired about the proper spacing in article names in two different places: Wikipedia:Village pump (policy)#Naming_.28and_referring_to.29_articles_about_people_with_initials_as_their_.22common.22_first_name and Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style#Ambiguity regarding references to articles about people with initials in their name — X96lee15 (talk) 02:19, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
- Please stop reverting the edits to the format for the various 2008 NBA Draftees. If you disagree with the changes, please discuss at the previously-listed links at WP:Village Pump and WPT:MOS. I believe you are misinterpreting the WP:NCP convention. — X96lee15 (talk) 12:59, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
This is the last warning you will receive for your disruptive edits, such as the one you made to Kobe Bryant. If you vandalize Wikipedia again, you will be blocked from editing. —LOL T/C 22:50, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
Most, if not all, of the superscripts found in {{Infobox NBA Player}} have been removed. I hope you won't violate the MOS over this simple rule anymore. Interestingly, I took the last 500 articles I checked as a sample, and only 39% of them were found to have superscripts—they were a minority, anyway. The Celtics player articles I edited only account for ~1% of the articles that transclude the template. —LOL T/C 02:00, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
All-Star coaching
Let me be clear why the extra sentence needs to be there. I'm not arguing that you are incorrectly quoting the source, but rather that you're leaving out the context needed to make sense of that information. (This is why the very next paragraph in the source you cite contains the same facts that I added.)
That sentence aside, I again note that the original sentence contains grammatical errors (e.g., it's not "earn the honor to coach", but "earn the honor of coaching"). Samer (talk) 18:48, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
- Maybe my definition of "grammatical error" differs from yours, but it is simply not standard written English (on a Google search, "earned the honor of" appears 100x more frequently than "earned the honor to"). Samer (talk) 19:14, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
Again, as I pointed out on the talk page for the article, I am referencing the very next paragraph in the exact same article you cite, and providing the context that someone not well-versed in the NBA would need to understand why that win made Rivers the coach.
Also, please note that threatening me really doesn't help your position. Samer (talk) 16:13, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
Fill me In
Hello NBA champions, sorry its been a while i was just draining my sorrows because you were right at the end of the day:) Anyway you and the rest of the Celtics fans deserve it, last yr at this time you were down in the dumps and i guess it was about time a storied franchise like Boston got back to the top. Didn't take long did it? I think the Lakers overachieved this yr, but they will be back. Party long and hard because i highly doubt they will go back-to-back.
BTW what in the world happened to nominating the 2007–08 Boston Celtics season for FA? Did you run it over some experts who know a thing or two about what needs to be done? Hey, the 2006–07 Toronto Raptors season is a GA so surely it must be up there. I also saw those couple of edits you did to Kobe Bryant and LeBron James, i know your not that sort of editor, you did a helluva job with the Celtics season and i know you didn't care about anything else but make sure you stay away from that kind of 'fun' because as much as you think it is, its called vandalism and you will get blocked for it. You dont deserve to have that nonsense on your record. Just keep your emotions and feelings under wrap in future seasons:P Cheers Monster Under Your Bed (talk) 14:06, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Final warning for MOS
This is the last warning you will receive for your disruptive edits, such as the one you made to Corey Maggette.[4] If you violate the Manual of Style again, you will be blocked from editing. You have been told over and over again about superscripted ordinal suffixes and other MOS guidelines, and I even checked the ~1,500 articles that transclude {{Infobox NBA Player}} at your request. I hope you will stop with this persistent disruption. —LOL T/C 23:52, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Wikification of Corey Maggette
I've left a note at Talk:Corey Maggette explaining why I don't believe the public life section needs wikification. Regards. -- Whpq (talk) 13:01, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
Sixers Season
Thanks, If I have any questions I will ask you. If you haven't noticed I've acually been using your Celtics season pages as an example to further develop the Sixers pages. Nice work. Yunggunn2k3 (talk) 18:18, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
Regarding this message: I did what you asked as a scripting exercise but I personally dislike the striking markup. I find that it's distracting and unnecessary because the metric units are already in parentheses. —LOL T/C 19:58, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
- I think the imperial units were already superior because they appear on the left and are not in parentheses, but how about a slightly bigger font size rather than the bold markup? —LOL T/C 20:07, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
07-08 Celtics
I was going to leave a message earlier after my previous edit, in which I hit the "submit" button prematurely (hence the weird message in the edit summary), but then decided against it. Sorry. Beemer69 chitchat 20:30, 13 July 2008 (UTC)
Regarding this: It seems useful, but an extra parameter should be used to determine whether or not the link should exist (e.g. draftexpress = yes
) because many draft picks are missing from even the recent years. —LOL T/C 07:40, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
Feel free to modify {{NBA color}} for now as it isn't set in stone; there shouldn't be any conflict because I can't think of a way to violate the MOS given the template's function. However, I do intend to use this template in general NBA templates so that the colour schemes are easier to maintain. For example, I plan to have {{NBA roster header}} transclude it rather than everything in Category:National Basketball Association roster navbox templates. Although the quaternary colour will usually duplicate one of the other colours, it is much more practical to have all the templates call the same n-ary colour in the same places. Currently, the primary heading uses colour 1 for the background and 2 for the font, and the secondary heading uses colour 3 for the background and 4 for the font. —LOL T/C 08:16, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
Nice work on the colour fixes. I'm just curious though, why did you set the Boston Celtics' primary and secondary colours to gold and green respectively? With the exception of the game logs, it looks like green and white should be the first two colours. Anyhow, I'm also hoping to create a template for the table headings in Boston Celtics all-time roster. Hopefully I can also create general templates to be used by everything you listed on my talk page, for standardization purposes. —LOL T/C 11:15, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
The Warriors colors I posted were accurate, here's the proof. The Clippers have always had red as their main color since moving to LA; look at their home uniforms before 2001 and their road uniforms since 1984. The Bobcats and Magic do have silver, look closer; the Bobcats' blue is clearly a different color. Please pay more attention to the logos and uniforms of the teams, because you seem to be throwing arbitrary standards out there. 71.139.191.40 (talk) 20:58, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
"Jesus" nickname for Ray Allen
I think you missed my point re: Ray Allen's nickname. I'm not questioning it's a fact, nor did i ever say it's not a fact - my edit summary said "unsourced, nn nickname". Which is to say, it's not sourced, it's not a particularly notable nickname (or I don't see any reliable source suggesting it is), and even if it's a notable nickname, I can't imagine why it would belong in the first paragraph. --Mosmof (talk) 23:49, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
- Would you like to try responding to messages and discussing things before reverting edits w/o citing policies or guidelines? --Mosmof (talk) 14:29, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
- See, finding a source wasn't hard, was it? Though you still missed a couple of my points- WP:OTHERCRAPEXISTS for one, and that nicknames are pretty WP:CRUFTy, and certainly not important enough to the understanding of a subject to include in the introductory paragraph. That some people refer to Allen as "Jesus" is not something that gives him any sort of notoriety. It probably deserves mention in the acting section, though.
- Anyway, my point wasn't to ask you to remove all nickname mentions from all introductory paragraphs (I never said nicknames don't belong in articles), but that you're reverting good-faith edits without giving a proper reason. I'm happy to discuss and disagree and compromise, but looking at other comments on your talk page, you seem to have a history of trying to WP:OWN. I appreciate the work you put into NBA articles, but you have to at least be accept that people who disagree with you are trying to improve articles too --Mosmof (talk) 15:53, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
- Also, please don't leave disingenuous edit summaries like you did in the Garnett article. You know why it was removed - you just disagree with the reasoning. --Mosmof (talk) 19:30, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
- And passive aggressiveness is borderline unWP:CIVIL. Please cite me a policy that says removing "sorced" content is vandalism. Removing sourced content without good reason is vandalism, sure, but removing sourced content in good faith and with good reason certainly is not. --Mosmof (talk) 19:34, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
- Would you please stop being obtuse? In my initial edit, my edit summary read "m nn material from 1st par." I thought that would be clear, but if it wasn't, you were more than welcome to ask me - I'm obviously willing to explain and discuss my edits. And I'e tried to explain in Talk:Ray Allen how most nicknames are not notable or important enough for inclusion in first paragraph, and we've discussed this in Template talk:Infobox NBA Player in the past, so you claiming ignorance is surprising to say the least. Also, FYI, you have made your 3rd revert on Kevin Garnett, --Mosmof (talk) 19:48, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
- Also, please don't leave disingenuous edit summaries like you did in the Garnett article. You know why it was removed - you just disagree with the reasoning. --Mosmof (talk) 19:30, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
