3 PMs of Australia

Hi, thanks for reverting my changes to Julia Gillard, Kevin Rudd and John Howard, however I actually did those edits base on my experience on other articles.

  1. Julia Gillard: If she clearly that she doesn't believe in God, means she is an atheist. We put the word "atheist" in the "religion" column. For example in Mao Zedong, Hu Jintao...
  2. Kevin Rudd: While he is attending Anglican Church, yet he never denounce his Roman Catholic faith, so he might be still a member of the RC?
  3. John Howard: Please quote a source saying that he switched to Anglican, thank you

--Elijahhee (talk) 07:08, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

    1. We don't "put" anything that is not confirmed by citation. She has never said she is an atheist, nor is that a religion.
    2. ... or he might not. We don't publish speculation.
    3. Done. WWGB (talk) 07:49, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Incomplete AfD

Thanks for fixing up the Sam Bowden AfD... I use the buttons up the top (Twinkle?), so I don't know why it didn't do all the steps. Maybe I clicked away to another page too soon? Anyway, all done now, so thanks again. The-Pope (talk) 14:50, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Obituary Edit

Thank you for catching my mistaken edit on the obituary just now. I inadvertently added 'Chinese' to the wrong reference. I went back to correct my error and saw that you caught it first.

"then deputy" and other such "at the time" positions are in a way a recentism. You'll find if you look at images on historical PMs/Premiers/leaders and come across a photo of another PM/Premier/leader, you'll find they get their title even if they didn't hold the title at the time of the photo. Dates and timezones (Deaths on August 1)

Of course, sorry about that! Thanks for amending. I was thinking more that it was not yet August 1 in Canada, where the subject of the disputed death is based ... Guthrum (talk) 15:17, 31 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, don't you think http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/2058/herbertdeinert.png is very clear? I think so. This is a death notice in the german newspaper http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Badische_Neueste_Nachrichten from Augsut 6, 2010, from his sister. --BeatePaland (talk) 13:03, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but anyone could create an image like that. Is there no online confirmation of his death? WWGB (talk) 13:07, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No, I didn't find anything else, sorry. Otherwise I wouldn't had uploaded the ad with copyright by the newspaper, it's no fake, I cropped it from the original pdf. --Beate (talk) 13:16, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I won't revert you on Deinert's article, but I doubt it will be accepted at Deaths in August 2010. Regards, WWGB (talk) 13:19, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks. In german wikipedia, this source was accepted once or twice by the others on the site of deaths 2010. --Beate (talk) 13:30, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sydney Meetup :-)

See the meetup page for further information - short version is that we're hoping to meet in a fortnight in the city for a beer and a chat. Minors and Miners are welcome, with a responsible adult and a minimum of coal dust ;-) - do try and get out if you can, it's been a little while since wiki folk met in Sydney :-) cheers, Privatemusings (talk) 05:28, 12 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

New MPs

Hi. Actually they are all members from yesterday. I've explained in more detail at WT:AUP. Frickeg (talk) 01:44, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It depends on what you mean by "official". If we're going to be picky about it, nobody is elected yet, and that includes sitting members. But as I said on the talkpage, they all officially become members from yesterday, even if they're not "officially" declared until the declaration (a few weeks away). The way I see it, it makes perfect sense for us to update the obvious ones now; it's not only accurate, but it'll stop a whole heap of tiresome reversions and I'd rather we made the changes properly ourselves rather than IPs trying to do it. I've stopped changing them until this is sorted, though. Frickeg (talk) 01:49, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hey. I stopped making changes when you brought up the disagreement; I'd appreciate it if you (a) stopped as well, and (b) actually responded to what's been said here and at WT:AUP (EDIT: Apologies; I missed your comment at AUP.). The consensus appears to be that we include these members. Anyway, to say that people are not the member until the close of writs is factually wrong, as I explained. Frickeg (talk) 05:37, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your Bias

The fact that you state "Corby is Guilty" illustrates that you should not be allowed to edit the Schapelle Corby page. It is a clear indication that you have a position on this which is less than objective.

I have no idea what your issue is, or what pleasure you derive from editing like that, but it is clear that your edits are biased and hostile to a person suffering so horribly in a third world jail.

I hope that an administrator will appear and take the necessary actions to deal with you. 86.157.75.119 (talk) 10:36, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Discussed at WP:ANI#Wikipedia:Long-term_abuse/WWGB - attack page? (and as an admin I'm declining to take action, because I believe WWGB has done nothing wrong). TFOWR 11:14, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

FYI

[1] There is an AN/I discussion going on that involves you. Since noone seems to have informed you yet, I do so now. Regards Skäpperöd (talk) 11:21, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Correction: TFWOR has informed you aboved, I missed that one. Skäpperöd (talk) 11:23, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've unfortunately had to decline your A7 tag on Samus Jay Megamixer, as importance/notability was asserted (not backed up with any refs, though). However, this looks like a good AfD or PROD candidate. I'll go ahead and BLPPROD it right now. Regards, Airplaneman 14:29, 28 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

New Pages help

Hello. I am a New Page Patroller. I require help with New Pages. How to select the appropriate speedy deletion warning from the critreria of speedy deletion? And how to know if any user is writing his own biography ( I usually see his username and try to guess, but that's not easy and to the point...)? Regards,--Sainsf<^> (talk) 08:50, 5 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well, thanks. Would you help me with the article James Gourlay (footballer) article? Let me have an example what to do with articles like this. Then I'll have no doubts. Thanks, --Sainsf<^> (talk) 09:16, 5 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"No Article"

No complaints, but if someone like Stack doesn't qualify for an entry, musicians who redirect to their band certainly shouldn't. Has there been some discussion on this? Star Garnet (talk) 17:46, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Countdown Spectacular 2 cover.jpg

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Countdown Spectacular 2 cover.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you.

This also applies to:

The reason these were orphaned is they were removed from Birtles_Shorrock_Goble#Discography, because we do not permit the use of covers in discographies as was being done here, per Wikipedia:NFC#Multimedia. Please do not restore these images to that discography. Thank you, --Hammersoft (talk) 15:16, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi WWGB, I've just blocked the vandal who's targeting this page (again) and semi-protected it for another week. Nick-D (talk) 11:34, 19 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oh great, they're back. At least it's quicker to revert and block than it is for them to add the material. Nick-D (talk) 23:15, 8 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"gets one month"

Re: [2], I defer to you because you are wise in the ways of Recent Deaths, but wouldn't he get one month only if there was some assertion that he is notable? As it is, it just seems like his inclusion is a political statement about the war in Palestine, as opposed to a genuine attempt to chronicle the death of a notable subject. On this logic, would you defend my edit if I added to the list each American soldier KIA in Iraq and Afghanistan, for one month? -- Y not? 13:34, 20 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Bloomberg describes him as a senior operative [3], so I think he has some claim to notability. If it gets deleted again, however, I won't restore. Regards, WWGB (talk) 13:47, 20 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that I am not blindly re-adding citation needed tags to this article. If you dispute the rationale for re-adding please take a moment to read the reasons I have carefully included in each tag and explain why I am wrong on the article talk page (or at least leave a decent edit comment) before removing again. Thanks, (talk) 08:40, 27 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Removing ISP headers

I note you have removed a standard ISP header from an anonymous IP contributor (diff). Unfortunately I re-applied it before I noticed that I was stepping on your heels by doing so.

I have added these headers for a contributor using rotating IP addresses where his/her contributions are from several different addresses from the same range on the same day on the same article. Using such a fast change of address appears to be deliberate, consequently I have tracked the IP address in this way to aid monitoring. I note that one of the IP addresses has also reverted my edits on several other previous IP addresses (that they have not declared as theirs).

As an experienced editor, could you point to any guidance with regard to the appropriate use of such templates? I am unaware of a relevant guideline to support removing such templates in these circumstances and this is the first time they have been challenged after I have used them several hundred times. Thanks, (talk) 06:33, 28 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Template:ISP states "once an IP has been warned/blocked a few times, it is usually a good idea to add a header to the IP's talkpage". The implication of this statement is that the template should be applied when an IP editor has been warned/blocked for vandalism or other such breach. There is no suggestion that the template should be applied to an IP talk page when the editor is simply contributing to Wikipedia. Taking such a position does not demonstrate goodwill towards the anonymous editor. WWGB (talk) 11:06, 28 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Foreign-language contributions

There is a useful set of templates at WP:PNT/T, many of them bilingual, for pointing foreign-language contributors to their own Wikipedia. If you don't know the language, Google Translate does a good job of identification given a couple of sentences. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 10:42, 14 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

CSD nomination of OpenTaal

You recently nominated OpenTaal for speedy deletion under WP:A7. Since then, the article has significantly expanded. I don't think it still satisfies WP:A7 at this time, so I removed the tags. It may still be deletable, but I think it should go through a deletion discussion at WP:AFD rather than a speedy deletion. Further information is available at Talk:OpenTaal. Note that I am not an administrator (it is my understanding that any community member other than the creator can remove db tags). --NYKevin @238, i.e. 04:43, 18 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. The source that you used to list Britton Chance as deceased on Deaths in 2010 is a blog, and therefore not a reliable source. In fact, it's just a copy of another blog that was removed as being "poorly sourced" at WP:BLP. Currently there is nothing reliable to note his death (just blogs and a Find a Grave profile that is copied from Wikipedia information). 96.52.5.187 (talk) 17:21, 18 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
