The University of South Wales is a new University in South Wales, in the process of being formed from the merger between the University of Glamorgan and the University of Wales, Newport.

The name was announced by the Universities on 17th December 2012.[2][3]

The new Vice-Chancellor of the University will be Julie Lydon.

If the two univerversities' student numbers remain intact, the university will become bigger than Cardiff University, becoming the biggest university in Wales.
