The University of South Wales is a new University in South Wales, in the process of being formed by the merger between the University of Glamorgan and the University of Wales, Newport.

The name was announced by the Universities on 17th December 2012.[2][3][4]

The new Vice-Chancellor of the University will be Julie Lydon, who currently holds this position at the University of Glamorgan.[5]

The new Chair of Governers will be Andrew Wilkinson, who currently holds this position at the University of Wales, Newport.

If the two universities' student numbers remain intact, it will be the biggest in Wales, larger than Cardiff University.
