    If you mean the article List of Rhodes Scholars, you will see that at the top it says it is "A partial list of Rhodes Scholars covering notable people who are also Rhodes Scholarship recipients". In Wikipedia terms, that "notable" means that it is a list of people who have an article about them. If Ms Kafoure ever gets her own article, backed up by references to reliable independent sources, then that article can be added to the list. I hope that helps.     Morgan Williams - Rugby Player

    Morgan Williams (ex professional rugby player) is still part of the Rugby Canada organization and works as a skills coach for both the National Canadian Women's team and Men's team. He is currently (as of March 21st,2014) in Japan for a tournament working as the assistant coach for the Canadian Men's 7's Team.     It's apparently about Morgan Williams (rugby union). The article says he "was fired from his position as the head coach of the Canadian national men's sevens team by Rugby Canada". If he still does other work for Rugby Canada then the article sounds misleading. Anything with "fired" gives the impression you no longer work there unless otherwise stated.     Edit page MALFUNCTIONED!

    I was attempting to edit a section of the Wikipedia page, Agnes Martin. In the section entitled "Legacy", I saw much text pertinent to that section, and wanted to add the following: "On March 22, 2014, which would have been her 102nd birthday, Agnes Martin was honored by the internet search engine Google with a special doodle on its homepage, capturing the unique style of Martin's artwork.", or something to that effect. When I clicked "Edit", I was expecting to see the same text I saw on that page. However, when the editing page loaded, I was HORRIFIED to see that MOST of the text MYSTERIOUSLY DISAPPEARED! I SWEAR I did NOT "do anything wrong", I only wanted to contribute, but I did NOT expect THIS to happen to me! My question is, what could have possibly gone WRONG? This "incident" occurred at approximately 7:00 AM, EDT this morning. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I hope I'm NOT in trouble, but please note this post as part of any possible investigation as to what may have gone wrong this morning, here on Wikipedia.     Problem with Operations management article

    Someone keeps trying to add a text written by a certain Naresh Anantharaj (http://sg.linkedin.com/pub/naresh-anantharaj/7a/312/a90), which besides being written in a first person point-of-view, is being added to the wrong section of the article and with very bad text formatting.     I am currently assembling a history of my 88 years. Starting at my birth in 1926. I would like to copy your info about the conflicts in Kore, Viet Nam and Iraq.     please see Wikipedia:Reusing Wikipedia content- Essentially all of Wikipedia's text has been created under a license that will allow anyone to use it with proper attribution.     Birch Beer

    Hi,

    I noticed that Avery's Soda in New Britain wasn't listed under Birch Beer. This beverage company was founded in 1904 in New Britain and has been making birch beer longer than most companies listed under 'birch beer'.

    The Birch beer article includes a list of brands for which Wikipedia has an article. If you would like to create an article for Avery's Soda (Avery's Beverages) then please let us know, and we'd be glad to provide assistance.

    Reference for personal knowledge

    I was reading an entry about my great-uncle (deceased) and realized one fact was wrong. I do not have an article to cite. I have this information from my great-uncle's sister, who is my grandmother, and it was often repeated in the family, especially by my mother, because this missing fact caused a breach. My grandmother never talked to her brother during my lifetime because of this fact. I did not put in any disputed facts, just a neutral description of the action that caused the breach.     If there are certain errors in an article, or if there are problems with the sources it happens to cite, editors are allowed to exercise editorial discretion. But I don't think we're allowed to add factoids that can't possibly be backed up with reliable sources. Maybe you could leave a brief note on the article's talkpage.     Referencing errors on The Singers Unlimited

    Reference help requested. I have completely revised the "Discography" on the page for "Singers Unlimited" but I can't get the system to accept my edits of the discography section. And, I am being confused by the explanations given about a "Reference List". I have replaced all the lines in the discography that had errors in them with verifiable information from the 15 original Singers Unlimited vinyl LP records because the information on almost all the existing lines had errors on almost every line, especially with regard to dates of the recordings and the original album numbers, and the sequence of the release of the albums. I have corrected all the incorrect references with verifiable facts. But the system rejects my input saying that I have created a "reference list error". So, here are all the corrected lines that should be in the discography.

    Will someone there please replace the existing lines of the discography with these lines which are all veritably accurate. I can't figure out how to use "Wikipediaese" ""reflist"".

In short, citations to reliable sources go inside the text, directly next to the things they verify, and those citations, inside of <ref> ... </ref> tags, are collated and displayed in the references section you properly placed through the {{reflist}} template.     American thermoplastic company

    American thermoplastic company closed its doors in Pittsburgh in December 2013. The company name and its customer database was then sold to a company in Alabama.     Recovering history of old article

    Several years ago, around 2009, I added a small, but in my view significant change to

    Incompleteness of quantum physics.

    I felt very good that the change I made was accepted in further development of the article.

    Now the above address has been redirected to

    Hidden variable theory

    I very much would like to recover the history over the time I made my small change to the no-longer-existing article I contributed to.

    I cannot find a way to trace back to that original article.

    Can you please help me?

    you can track changes either by the article page history tab [1] or by your personal history tab which will take you to Special:Contributions/TDMartin. (you can get to the article page of a redirect by clicking on the blue notice at the top of the landing page that says (Redirected from Incompleteness of quantum physics).

    In the accreditation portion of the article it does not list that the University of Science, Arts and Technology does have multiple accreditation's.     Wikipedia Fiona Kimm

    Recently there were questions about the photograph that I used on the 'Fiona Kimm' Wikipedia page. It was scheduled for deletion. I sent to Wikipedia the background to the use of this photograph which was as follows. The photograph was taken by the photographer, Helen Neale in 2010. Helen Neale gave me permission to use the photograph and I sent this e-mail to Wikipedia when I saw the query about the use of the photograph. Despite this the image has been removed! Can you tell me how I go about reinstalling the image which is of the person the page is about, the use of the image has been authorised by the photographer and Wikipedia was sent the information. I don't use Wikipedia frequently so any changes like this need me to travel up a steepish learning curve! Any help gratefully received.

    Citing a web forum

    We have an established way to cite Newsgroups, through the cite newsgroup template. But how would I go about citing a post in a web forum board?     Forum posts are self-published sources and should only rarely be cited. If it's a mailing list which also has a web interface then you can use {{Cite mailing list}}.     Wikipedia is not an advertising platform or a directory. In order to have a stand alone article about a subject, the topic must have been the subject of significant coverage by reliably published, independent sources. As someone with a conflict of interest you should not create or directly edit an article about yourself and instead wait for someone with no connection to you to do so. You can make a suggestion at the "requested article" notice board and see if someone there will create the article.     Question about "help:page name" example

    On "help:page name" the example http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f3/Pagename_explanation2.png has a caption saying, "...and the URL is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salvo_D'Acquisto" as an external (non-wikilink). Shouldn't it be an internal/Wikilink?

    An external link with the usual external link icon seems appropriate when a URL is displayed. It's made automatically as you can see here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salvo_D'Acquisto (click edit to see I wrote the url just like that). A wikilink would be the code [[Salvo D'Acquisto]] which produces Salvo D'Acquisto (I don't know why the example used underscore instead of space).     Right, the line is customized for the English Wikipedia at MediaWiki:Sp-contributions-footer. Nearly all customizations are only made for the default English language. It's possible to do for other language settings, in your case at MediaWiki:Sp-contributions-footer/hu, but there are hundreds of languages and we don't bother. You can see the English interface without changing language or logging out by adding ?uselang=en to the url, for example https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Norden1990?uselang=en.     Problems with moving an article into Wikipedia

    I attempted to move an article from my sandbox to Wikipedia. The article is about the extreme endurance athlete Bill Bradley who recently set a world record. Since there is a very famous athlete/senator Bill Bradley who already has a page, I thought using the title Bill Bradley, extreme endurance athlete would be sufficient to distinguish the page.

    Unfortunately, the title was inappropriate and I was not allowed to move the page. Unfortunately there does not seem to be a way to undo what I have done and try again to move the page. Can you assist with this or tell me what to do?

    The url still seems to be https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Jabailey1/sandbox, though there is now a note that says the article has been redirected.

    The move form has a namespace dropdown box where you must choose "(Article)". However, we use parentheses for disambiguation like at Bill Bradley (disambiguation).     Editing TV show episodes in advance

    Hello, I am trying to establish if there are any specific guidelines about editing TV show episode numbers in advance. I keep coming across an editor (120.147.113.111) who routinely advances the number of episodes a TV series has telecast, before the episode has aired.

    A current example is the Have You Been Paying Attention? article. The 13th episode went to air yesterday (Sunday 23 March 2014, Australian time) and yesterday this editor has already changed the number of episodes aired to 14 with the notation "as of 30 March 2014", a full week in advance. On Fridays he/she changes episode numbers for shows that don't go to air until the next Monday late afternoon (Million Dollar Minute, Millionaire Hot Seat). I have tried to communicate with this editor but they choose not to respond; I have also put an note in the episode number editing section saying "only increase number after the episode has gone to air". Again the editor chooses not to do that and continues editing in advance.

    I personally feel that editing in advance is incorrect but maybe I'm getting 'carried away'. I would greatly appreciate some assistance. Cheers. Melbourne3163 (talk) 03:02, 24 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

    • BYPASS your cache and it should work if you added it correctly. Looking at your common.js page, I see that you copy & pasted the actual code of the script. What this means is that your copy of the script won't be maintained for you, and is rarely a good idea. I suggest that you replace all of the code on that page with importScript('User:Writ Keeper/Scripts/massRollback.js');//[[User:Writ Keeper/Scripts/massRollback.js]] so that way whenever Writ Keeper updates his copy, yours will also be automatically updated.     How do I recommend that an administrator be stripped of Admin status

    I have been editing a long while (I think about eight years) and never wanted nor was offered Admin status. A relatively new admin is, in my opinion, causing trouble by thinking he is now Dictator of the World and can do what he wants without consensus or discussion. (I can give you the appropriate links but I imagine you are rather busy.) To where should I put this discussion? To strip an admin of his status because it is a privilege not a right, and in my opinion is abusing it. I thought about WP:ANI but that seems the wrong venue.     It would usually be a normal case of WP:BRD but since the other editor has admin status and is using it as a kind of golden crown, that is not what admin status is for. Especially when something comes up at, as it happens WP:RFD to which I am a regular contributor and come with views sometimes agreed with sometimes not but always with my homework done.     Sandbox linked to article after creation

    Hi,

    I used my Sandbox to create a page for the Cosmology Large Angular Scale Surveyor (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosmology_Large_Angular_Scale_Surveyor), and then I tried to wipe my sandbox clean and start a new article there. Unfortunately, that also wiped clean the main page listed above. How do I unlink the two so that I can use my sandbox for something else?

    Hi, Tom.essinger.hileman. When the page was moved from your sandbox to its final destination, Wikipedia automatically left a redirection in your sandbox (it always does that when a page is moved). To get to it to edit it, you need to pick it, and it will show you the destination page; but just underneath the title it says " (Redirected from User:Tom.essinger.hileman/sandbox)", and you can pick that link to go back to the actual sandbox. You'll find if you edit it, it contains just the text "
    #REDIRECT Cosmology Large Angular Scale Surveyor

    The edits by User:Theron McCollough can be seen at Special:Contributions/Theron_McCollough, so it was 2012. If Help:Logging in#Login issues and problems or Help:Email confirmation#Known issues do not help then you have to create a new account. The old password will still work after a password reset (assuming the mailed password) is never used, so if you get new ideas what the pasword may have been then just try them.     How about numerous wikipedia citations making up much of a published compendium or book?

    I wonder how to cite Wikipedia in this special case in publishing, where a compendium or book author (compiler or editor) would use numerous Wikipedia citations for providing bulk, factual text, effectively dominating the book, only still embedded within the compiler/'author's own narrative. Is it ok? Could it still be a one-author book? Or is it an anthology? Should Wikipedia authors be acknowledged, perhaps listed, and if so, how?     Articles on Wikipedia generally have dozens, if not hundreds, of authors, including people who make just a single change. It would be impractical to cite them all. On the page about citing Wikipedia, the authors are left out of the major citation styles. Those who wish to know the specific authors can check the page history.     An "editor" with an agenda who challenges the neutrality and balance of Wikipedia?

    I have been watching a page (above) that refers to my company, which I have not long joined (so, COI declared here) and was recently 'rewritten' mendaciously, plus without any balance; something which has been outlined as a key tenet in the various FAQ's here. The defamatory line of editing and obvious use of derogatory word 'insertions', is clearly not neutral, is not properly weighted and uses language specifically intended to damage the corporations reputation. Surprisingly, it also keeps being supported/reverted by a Wikipedia admin? I would like to ask if anyone has had any similar situations and found a way for Wiki to be made aware of such editing - and actually follow its officially prescribed neutral mandate? Of course, I read the following advisory and I thought I would request some independent insight from the collective if possible. "If you believe an article about you or your organization is incomplete, inaccurate, or biased, there are several avenues for you to discuss the issue with Wikipedia's editorial community." I personally think the facts (positive or negative) need to be balanced regardless of opinion? Clearly, the defamatory editor has a personal agenda, I can't help that, but I would prefer that the company (even with a declared COI) can restore some balance in the article that has been commandeered, which I tend to think is a shame for all of us.     How to roll back an edit that is not the most recent edit

    The article "Injection molding" currently has two identical "History" sections. Apparently, on 00:27, 23 March 2014 someone deleted an "Applications" section and replaced it with a copy of the existing "History" section. I don't know how to fix this.     • (edit conflict) You don't need rollback rights for that. Go to Injection molding and select the left radio button for the last known good edit, then the right radio button for the last "bad" revision. Click the Compare selected revisions and wait for the diff to load. At the top of the page in the header on the right side will be an "undo" button. Click that, explain what you are doing in the edit summary and save the page. The diff you want to undo is this one I believe (or if you are real lazy, you can click this undo link). If there have been conflicting edits preventing the undo, you'll have to manually revert it.     I have posted an article about the author and poet Susan Brind Morrow. The most recent version was posted last evening. In that version, I included a number of clear, hard, reliable, factual links (An official announcement from The University of Texas Sowell Collections about its purchase of her papers; announcement from the Guggenheim Foundation, which awarded Brind Morrow a Fellowship; the New York Times, and others.

    But still I see this morning that there is a notation at the beginning of this article stating that it needs factual reliable references.

    So my point is this: SUCH REFERENCES ARE ALREADY THERE. WHAT MORE CAN BE DONE TO SATISFY WIKIPEDIA THAT THIS ARTICLE IS VALID AND MEETS THE WIKIPEDIA STANDARDS (WITH WHICH OF COURSE I AM ENTIRELY IN SYMPATHY)? The question is why it is still being blocked and scheduled for potential deletion?

    The problem appears to be that you have included a list of raw external links, but no inline citations. It is therefore not possible to see which of the statements in the article is supported by which link. Wikipedia requires not only links, but actual citations to verify the statements in its articles. This is particularly important with biographies of living persons.
