Payal Jain is an Indian fashion designer. Payal has done Haute Cotour, Fashion Shows, contribution to collections and also corporate uniforms.

Early life

Payal Jain was born in New Delhi and graduated summa-cum-laude in 1993 from Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, California.

Career

Payal worked as a design assistant in a European fashion houses Fritzi, San Francisco and later worked with couturiers Jacqueline De Brey in San Francisco and Ulrich Engler in London. She later decided to return back to India to work. After her return, she indulged in corporate uniform and designed corporate dressing for The Leela, Goa in 1993. Post that, Payal went on to design corporate uniforms for over 40 hotels. Meanwhile, she participated in various fashion shows and launched collections.She also wrote a book called as Fashion Studies for aspiring young designers.

Style

Jain works with craftsmen in small villages across Rajasthan, Orissa, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Bihar to integrate their designs in the mainstream. She works with indigenous material including silk, brocades, zardosi and chikankari, and gets inspiration from Mughals and other royal eras.
