    Page deletion

Hi! I was looking to publish a page for EverlyWell and it seems that they have been deleted in the past for COI. I am unaffiliated with the company, and unsure of how to appeal for recreation of the page. Thank you Literalkoala (talk) 05:44, 14 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If it was deleted as a COI-created article, you are better off starting from scratch rather than trying to build from whatever existed in the past. Your First Article and verifiability will help guide you a lot. It looks like you've already started on it in your sandbox, so I recommend truly focusing on the reliability of your sources and showing that the company meets WP:NCORP and WP:ORGDEPTH requirements before hitting the submit button on the draft in your sandbox. Happy editing! Orville1974 (talk) 06:09, 14 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I really need help setting up a page about me ,a professional musician and my bands ,all are signed to labels or have been in the past. I have no idea how to do this without getting thrown off wiki !! Help!!!!!

it says it in the subject line. I need a ;page for me and my bands,at least 3 of them. They /you keep throwing me off ,deleting me from lists that I was on as a endorsed player for Jackson guitars. I was already added to the list, but I tried and adding something and my whole name and band was removed from the list. and it seems to be the same do-gooder that is after me with no help at all. So please help me put up a page for my band Fatal Attraction ,who is signed to FnArecords. plus other things that tell about my past and current music career! My singer for MY band Trick or Treat ,Mandy Lion has a page filled with lies and inaccuracies, yet he has a page up! HELP ME!!!!!!!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mdskewes (talkcontribs) 09:44, 14 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Mdskewes, and welcome to Wikipedia.
Take the time to read WP:GNG and WP:BAND. If you conclude "Yeah, I have those sources, no problem!", move on to WP:Your first article and WP:Autobiography. If not, write about something else. If you decide to try to create a draft, you need to learn Help:Referencing for beginners. Good luck! Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 10:24, 14 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Mdskewes Writing about yourself and your band is considered a conflict of interest. This ensures that the encyclopedia remains neutral, and the entries meet a degree of notability. Please read WP:COI. If there is sufficient media coverage, you will need to request the help of another editor at WP:REQUEST. (Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages by typing four keyboard tildes like this: ~~~~. Or, you can use the [ reply ] button, which automatically signs posts.) TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 13:38, 14 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Mdskewes: Please don't take it personally. It appears that you do not understand what Wikipedia is. Read WP:NOT to see. We are an encyclopedia. If a subject is notable by our definition, then it should have an article. If it is not notable, then it should not have an article and any article that soemhow creeps in will be deleted. We delete about 200 articles every day, mostly for lack of notability. A subject that is does not have an article must not be added to a list in another article. "Some do-gooder" was doing exactly the right thing. Now, if you can convince us that you are notable by our definition, we can help you create an article as described above. You convince us of that by starting a draft article that cites several reliable sources that establish notability. Not all sources are reliable, and not all reliable sources count toward notability. Once you have cited sources that most editors would agree establish notability, we can immediately publish the article as a stub, or (much better) you can continue to improve your draft and ask for feedback from us until it's in good shape. -Arch dude (talk) 16:19, 14 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Mdskewes: on the subject of Mandy Lion, please read WP:OTHERSTUFF. Mistakes about one article do not affect notability of another article. However, If you cite reliable soures, you may add assertions to an article. If you see unreferenced assertions in an article, you are free to remove them. If you see referenced assertions that are inaccurate, do not remove them, but you are free to add referenced content that contradicts them and that discusses the contradiction. If you feel that your changes might be contentious, you may make them anyway and wait for someone to revert before you start a discussion WP:BRD, or you may choose to start the discussion on the article's talk page first. -Arch dude (talk) 16:57, 14 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
ok,I THINK I UNDERSTAND A BIT MORE. THE LABEL I WAS SIGNED TO,WAS SUPPOSE TO PUT UP A PAGE ABOUT THE BAND FATAL ATTRACTION,BUT.......THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN. IT SOUNDS LIKE I HAVE TO HAVE SOMEONE DO THE PAGE,OTHERWISE,I WILL BE BATTLING PEOPLE THINKING I'M PROMOTING MYSELF! I'M TRYING TO HAVE A PAGE FOR PEOPLE TO READ FACTS ABOUT THE BAND AND IT'S MEMBERS ! THERE ARE 2 DOCUMENTARIES ,BIOPICS AND A BOOK BEING DONE ABOUT MY MUSIC CAREER,SO. THANKS? I HOPE I CAN FIGURE OUT WHAT THE DEAL IS WITH WHAT YOU THINK IS IMPORTANT AND WHAT IS NOT! ANYONE FEEL FREE TO HELP ME,I PROMISE I'M NOT SOME GUY JUST TRYING TO GET ON HERE,IT'S BECAUSE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE KEEP ASKING ME,THANKS AGAIN. , Mdskewes (talk) 02:57, 15 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Promoting yourself and your band is exactly what you are trying to do. Don't write the article yourself. Don't get your label to write the article. Don't get someone else to do the article for you. As someone with a conflict of interest you may request that an article be created (as previously described), or you can wait for someone with no conflict of interest to decide that your band is notable and write the article. Approval of submission for Dilip Donde

Hi Could you tell me how long it takes to approve a submission? My submission on Dilip Donde was last viewed in January 2019. Sucheta2810 (talk) 14:13, 14 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Sucheta2810: Please read the note at the top you your draft Draft:Dilip Donde. Your submission was declined on 30 March 2019. -Arch dude (talk) 16:42, 14 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Sucheta2810: - I just did some general cleanup to make the article more encyclopedic. I haven't looked at the sources but this seems close for notability based on his being the first Indian to circumnavigate the globe solo by sail. TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 18:55, 14 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    MiszaBot

MiszaBot/lowercase sigmabot III does not archive the page. Did I do something wrong? Puduḫepa (talk) 14:28, 14 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Puduḫepa: You have set minthreadsleft = 4, which tells the bot not to archive anything if it would leave fewer than four threads on the page. Since there are only three threads so far, nothing will be archived. You can change the "4" if you wish. -- John of Reading (talk) 14:37, 14 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    • Note: A response was provided at the talk page that the edits would not be made as not being conventional. The IP deleted that response in one of a number of edits which edited or removed TP comments by others. I have responded again at the TP and there is a note left there by other editors, that we should only interact with this editor at that page. Eagleash (talk) 17:49, 14 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, we are doing our best to help, but it is becoming increasingly difficult to WP:Assume good faith when 2409:4064:39D:E13A:7037:4257:2CFD:3EEE (from various different IP addresses) deletes links from others' talk pages, deletes replies, and gives false edit summaries. Donald Trump article

Hi! 209.5.238.20. I'm not sure if you intended to remove your questions/concerns from here just now, but I'm responding anyway. Wikipedia is a platform anyone can edit. I encourage you to find third-party, reliable sources WP:RS and bring your concerns to the article's talk page here: Talk:Donald Trump. You can also get there by clicking on the talk tab at the top of the article. There you can discuss the addition/removal of material with fellow editors. Map of current arenas

I Was Trying to erase oracle arena and put Chase Center in but the Map Of Current Arenas is blocked can you help me fix it please. 68.103.78.155 (talk) 19:26, 14 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I'm unfamiliar with Haas Arena and Chase Center, but it appears from reading the articles that Chase Center is still under construction. If so, it's too early to add the arena to the template. Also, when it is done, will they no longer play at Haas Arena? If so, once the team moves, the "-present" annotation on that arena should be closed out as well. Removing rfc template

    Helped
Hello to you at the Wikipedia help desk. The request for comment I posted on the talk page of the New Albion elicited no responses. So I made certain changes to the article. As such, I do believe it is proper to remove the rfc template; however, the instructions are a little vague as to how this should be done. My inclination is to edit the talk page by deleting the template (which is encapsulated within brackets at the top of the page) and then note my actions with a comment. Is this correct? If not, what should I consider? Kind regards to all.Hu Nhu (talk) 19:55, 14 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Hu Nhu: I think you waited an appropriate amount of time (I usually try to give it a week or so to allow other editors time to see it and respond). I went ahead and removed the RfC. In the future, the way you described above is exactly how you can remove RfC templates. Orville1974 (talk) 21:16, 14 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    Edit Information Box

    Hello,

Can someone PLEEEEAASE explain how I can update information in the information box on a wiki page where I'm the subject of the page but not the creator of the page? Thank you. What a pain in the ass!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kmacjdwiki (talkcontribs) 20:35, 14 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Kmacjdwiki: You should make an edit request on the article talk page. Please note that we can't just take your word for something, information must appear in a reliable source. You should also confirm your identity by following the instructions at WP:REALNAME. 331dot (talk) 20:40, 14 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Regarding [1], {{Infobox basketball biography}} has no law_school parameter. You added it to the documentation [2] but the actual template code has no such parameter so I reverted you. A new infobox parameter should be relevant to many articles and I don't see that here if law schools don't have elite basketball teams. The article text could mention it somewhere with a reliable source but not the infobox. PrimeHunter (talk) 20:56, 14 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Kmacjdwiki: - I added your JD to the article, with a source, and made some other edits to make it more encyclopedic. did I made a re-direct mistake

    Helped
At How heavy are the dumbbells you lift? for the logs, I found that the name was changed. But a few minutes later the old title directs to the lower cased name. Then by WP:RM, the title's name is that or "How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift?". I was going to add some thing else after. Tainted-wingsz (talk) 23:38, 14 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Tainted-wingsz: Are you trying to add more to the title, or just change it to title case (How Heavy are the Dumbbells You Lift?)? Orville1974 (talk) 02:46, 15 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, when I did that. On a google search, by the name; Dumbbell Nan-Kilo Moteru, (the old title) it directed me to "How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift?" then it had the re-direct page/ article at the top. To the current title; How heavy are the dumbbells you lift? Where the name is in lower case. But I did not know that some one else did a page move already? A few minutes after I did that. And for re-direct pages/ articles it should only happen once, not twice. Tainted-wingsz (talk) 03:03, 15 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Tainted-wingsz: I've put in a technical move request since the destination article (the redirect page from title case to standard case) exists. It may take a day or two for the change to be implemented. Here is the request: WP:Requested moves/Technical requests. Once that's done, if the foreign language title still points to the standard case instead of the title case, we can fix the redirect. Orville1974 (talk) 03:42, 15 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The italic isn't used in the named title, the book's publisher (or is it distributor?) Currently it doesn't use the italics at this url/ link; http://www.sevenseasentertainment.com/series/how-heavy-are-the-dumbbells-you-lift/. Then I was going to use this https://animeuknews.net/2019/06/funimation-to-simulcast-how-heavy-are-the-dumbbells-you-lift-fire-force-hensuki-and-the-ones-within-with-english-dubs/ as a ref. Or a different ref, detailing about the tv show was being licensed by. Or if some one got there first. (I have a night shift soon.) Tainted-wingsz (talk) 04:00, 15 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Per the Wikipedia Manual of Style, regardless of how another site treats italics, since it's the official title of a series, it should be italicized here. Orville1974 (talk) 04:47, 15 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The move has been done. That was fast. :) Orville1974 (talk) 05:08, 15 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    Text editor - caret navigation

Recently a change was made to the standard article text editor. If the cursor is on the last line of a paragraph, and there is a blank line below and then another paragraph: if I press the down key, instead of moving the cursor to the blank line, it moves to first line of the next paragraph. That is, it skips the blank line.

This is extremely annoying. Is there a way to turn it off? cagliost (talk) 08:40, 15 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Cagliost: "Tag: 2017 wikitext editor" at Special:Contributions/Cagliost indicates you have enabled "New wikitext mode" or "Automatically enable all new beta features" at Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-betafeatures. This is not the standard editor, but it doesn't happen to me whether it's enabled or not. Does it happen if you log out? What is your browser? I use Firefox. PrimeHunter (talk) 09:37, 15 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I disabled "New wikitext mode" and that stopped it. Thanks. I'll give them some feedback. cagliost (talk) 09:45, 15 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Cagliost: You didn't name your browser in the feedback. As mentioned, it doesn't happen to me in Firefox. When posting outside the English Wikipedia, you should also say where it happened, e.g. "Tested in Chrome 75.0.3770.90 at the English Wikipedia". PrimeHunter (talk) 09:57, 15 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    Dear Wiki-Community,

    The article about Steve Kerr

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Kerr

should be changed due to the results of the NBA Finals.

Patrick McCaw, Frank Saul and Steve Kerr are now the only three players in NBA history who won four championships with two different teams in consecutive seasons.

Thanks for your changing the article.

I'm not sure what the just completed finals has to do with it. Kerr's playing days are long past, and his team lost anyway. Regardless, whether this bit of trivia is worth including is debatable. Clarityfiend (talk) 19:34, 15 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure who "our" is, but if you want whatever "our" represents to come up in a Wikipedia search, there must be a Wikipedia article about it. In order for that to happen, the subject needs to meet Wikipedia's special definition of notability and have significant coverage in independent reliable sources. As you would have a conflict of interest in writing about your own organization, you shouldn't be the one to write about it.
Please also understand that Wikipedia has no interest in enhancing or assisting search results, we are all here to work on this encyclopedia. 331dot (talk) 11:42, 15 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    From "Draft" to "Live"

Hi there, lovely Wikipedia-help-desk-people! I did some work on a draft. Please, see: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Draft%3ABrandon_Truaxe&type=revision&diff=901939976&oldid=893646539 What is the next step for „going live“? Is there someone who can support me in the next step? It's all too overwhelming... --87.170.200.40 (talk) 14:00, 15 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @87.170.200.40: I've just looked over your draft and don't recommend submitting it yet. Please look over WP:PEACOCK. The article needs quite a bit of editing to present it's subject from a neutral point of view WP:NPV. Phrases like "disrupted the rest of the beauty market", "high-performance products at wholesale prices", "combining cutting-edge science with modest price points", etc. read like a review, sales pitch, or advertisement. Orville1974 (talk) 14:28, 15 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again! I've just done a major scrub of your draft article. Please look it over and make whatever changes are appropriate (keeping WP:NPV, WP:RS, and WP:PEACOCK in mind). Whenever you're ready, you can edit your draft in "source editing mode" and insert this text at the top (if it asks, select plain text, not wikimarkup): {{subst:submit}} Orville1974 (talk) 16:01, 15 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your time and verdict Orville1974! I read your copyediting, thank you very much, even if that scrub was a quite an aggressiv acid peeling ;-), meaning you removed "important" information. Anyway in the process of „going live“, what would be the next step? --87.170.192.160 (talk) 17:05, 15 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Whenever you're ready, edit your draft in "source editing mode" and insert this text at the top (if it asks, select plain text, not wikimarkup): {{subst:submit}}, then publish changes. That action will submit your draft for review. A reviewer will either accept it as is, or provide further feedback. Orville1974 (talk) 17:34, 15 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I also forgot to mention, I left a request for more information regarding his earlier software business on the talk page of the article. Orville1974 (talk) 17:50, 15 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Orville1974: Thanks again Orville! Yes, read your request, the name of that "software business" also intrigued me, but (so far) I could only found that he had $400,000 from his sold software company to invest in "Euoko": https://www.wmagazine.com/story/euoko . It was some kind of automobil-leasing-analyse-software. Working on it ;-) --87.170.193.122 (talk) 18:19, 15 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@MaoGo: See User:Lowercase sigmabot III/Archive HowTo#Delaying or preventing archiving of particular threads. The already arhived copies must be fixed manually. This requires some page deletions and merges to do properly. I will do this. PrimeHunter (talk) 13:28, 16 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I have cleaned up the archives and set the bot to not archive Talk:2019 Venezuelan uprising#Requested move 1 May 2019 for 100 days from now.[4] It's 180 kB and should preferably allow archiving long before that by removing the code. PrimeHunter (talk) 14:09, 16 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    Wikipedia Article search

Hi, is there a way to make my Article page searchable? im a semi pro fighter and would like to create a Wikipedia page as a portfolio and an autobiography — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shaneosmond92 (talkcontribs) 12:22, 16 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Shanesosmond92: I'm afraid the answer is probably no. Please see WP:AUTOBIOGRAPHY and WP:COI for why this is not a good idea. Wikipedia is not a form of social media where persons create profiles etc. Facebook and the like exist for that. If you are truly notable by Wikipeidia's definition (see that page and also WP:NSPORTS for more info) an uninvolved editor will likely create a page for you in due course. A biography created in your userpage is likely to be deleted as misuse of Wiki as a webhost. Sorry to not be able to be more positive. Regarding uploading pictures of (postal) stamps & seals to Commons

I'd like to know about legally uploading pictures of stamps (various countries) & of seals to Commons. I suppose there's no problem with stamps, since stamp pictures star in many relevant articles, but want to know more. About seals I know even less (e.g., the seals of Columbia university & Yale university). Thank you, בנצי (talk) 12:29, 16 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, בנצי. You really need to ask this at Commons, which is a separate project. But the simple answer is that Commons only accepts material which is freely available for reuse by anybody for any purpose. In practice, that means it is either in the public domain (either by explicit statement, or by reason of age) or has been explicitly released under a licence such as CC-BY-SA. I'm sure that some stamps and seals are old enough for their designs to be in the public domain, but I doubt if any recent ones are usable (but I may be wrong). English Wikipedia allows non-free materials to be uploaded directly (not to commons) in certain circumstances, and logos are often used in this way: it wouldn't surprise me if seals were also. The criteria which must all be met are in non-free content criteria. --ColinFine (talk) 16:36, 16 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    *fD Discussions

So I have wondered for a long while... Are editors like me allow to participate in RfD discussions? (I do know we can do AfD's, I have done plenty.) James-the-Charizard (talk) 12:49, 16 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

James-the-Charizard of course! The only rule for most discussions is simply having an account. WP:Redirects for discussion, WP:AFD, WP:RFC - even WP:RFA etc are all suitable for you to comment on. There are some that are open to even IP users, and a very rarely just admins. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 12:55, 16 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Lee Vilenski: Thanks, man! I figured it would be safer to ask first rather than barge in. James-the-Charizard (talk) 12:57, 16 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
James-the-Charizard, sure. There doesn't get a great deal of editors in RfD, so I can understand why it might seem there were rules on who could participate. I like to encourage all users to add to these discussions Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 13:19, 16 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    Help

I don't understand why wikipedia made help desk? If no one is interested in solving the problem. This is the fifth time I approached help desk to ask, to fix a problem. I have posted request on Talk page of Shamsheer Vayalil. Please! make the possible edits. I think editors are not interested to edit any physician's article. One of the editors asked just now to me to provide a reliable source of Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil's residency. So,these sources are news websites "thenational";" gulfnews".Reliable source to know his occupation is wikipedia itself. Wikipedia itself says that he is a "Radiologist"and"MD of VPS Healthcare".— Preceding unsigned comment added by 223.230.146.67 (talk) 17:45, 16 June 2019 (UTC) Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 223.230.146.67 (talk) 17:37, 16 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@223.230.146.67: You made your request at Talk:Shamsheer Vayalil yesterday. It is not reasonable to expect people to jump up and fulfill it immediately, especially when you don't provide sources and just state "I want information about X to be included". Things would likely proceed more smoothly if you were to a) provide the information, b) provide reliable sources to go along with it, and c) not insert the request somwewhere in the middle of the talk page. --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 18:03, 16 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi! A number of editors have all tried to help, but you've requested conflicting changes, erased/replaced some requests with new ones, added and removed requests on individual editor talk pages, failed to provide links to sources, and generally been unclear in what changes you are requesting. Here is what I've done to improve the article as that is what our focus is regardless of your preferences on how you would like to see the information presented. I've
    • conducted a copy edit of the article contents itself
    • clarified article wording based on the citations
    • located more sources for some items in the Early Life section
    • removed minor details for which I couldn't find any source
    • consolidated Shamsheer's efforts related to NRI rights
    • reorganized the Awards and Accolades section

Multiple editors have already tweaked the infobox (in multiple conflicting ways due to your repeated, unclear, and unconventional requests), so I left that part alone until you are able to succinctly state your request with appropriate sources. Longshot(Marvel) - Boz and others "edit warring" with elevated permissions.

Longshot is a Marvel intellectual property and a known "luck" user in the comics. The editors who refuse to allow anyone else to correct this page continuously change aspects of the character freely and use a unauthorized conversation with Ann Nocenti as a means to refute any cannon comic book sources as the final word on the subject.

Ann Nocenti has not written for Longshot since the 80s. Her opinion is extremely outdated and his character has evolved tremendously since then. Regardless even in the 80s "luck" was thought to be the only power he had in the first place by most comic fans.

Psychometry is the only one they will allow on the list even though the powers list is much longer and ad-libs as well. The article seems far more about Ann Nocenti than Longshot and they won't allow me to edit a single word.

I was accused of going to war with them for editing the article yet they are the ones you can see by time stamp returning to the article every single time I make an edit and changing it almost immediately or within a few hours. Boz one of your staff I suppose locks me out of editing and accused me of edit warring more than once yet he can see by time stamp he and his cohort are the ones who get defensive over edits.

    What are the protecting exactly?

I have cannon evidence to my edits based on comics that contain the source material I used in detail. They have none other than a writer who gave an interview to a comic con attendee without any approval from Marvel.

Considering this article and any others containing Marvel Intellectual Property somewhat represent Marvel as a respected source of cited material it makes no sense that a small band of internet trolls can hijack and strong arm articles at a whim. Why are they even receiving updates that an article has been edited?

That in itself promotes edit warring does it not?

I'm sure Marvel would and will agree with me about Longshot's page as the last time someone took liberties with their property I did report it and they contacted the company directly.

I'm sure it shouldn't need to go that far, but Marvel has been around for a very long time, and trolls have no right to mess around with these characters. Some people go here before reading and it could even alter the movies themselves if directors don't want to read through 900 or so comics. You have quite the responsibility to keep these articles legit and sourced as Marvel is currently working over time to create new movies and don't have the time to read thousands of comics. So they might come here.

I'm not looking to cause trouble but I've been enjoying Marvel my entire life. Much like soap opera fans watched those their whole lives. I only edited one article about Longshot and got accused of warring for correcting gross overstatements and incorrect information. Please stop the abuse of power and consider not allowing trolls to silence those who don't even have accounts from rewriting poorly written articles.

Some with accounts seem obsessed with Wikipedia but editing tons of articles does not mean they edit them well let alone correctly with citations from source material. Keeping long spreadsheets of articles they're warring with kind of makes it obvious and they all seem to have these lists of articles they check daily but only to protect misinformation.

You can Google Longshot and the first thing that comes up is "luck" user yet psychometry is listed in the bullet list as his only power. It's incorrect and a huge error that has been protected since 2008 at least.

This Boz troll is who they run to every time someone edits this page. They say luck isn't a power yet they reword it as probability field for other luck users such as Domino who is cannon in both comics and Deadpool 2 as a luck user. I had a reply from a troll "luck isn't a power" and Boz agreed. Why does this user have the power to lock pages?

Just a guy who really likes Longshot and has been reading X-Men and New Mutants comics since around age 8. Thanks for reading. Sorry for the inconvenience.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.152.121.208 (talkcontribs) 16 June 2019 17:59 (UTC)

    Creating And Editing

I just got a wikipedia account. And I was wondering if there is anyway to create an article on wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Caden Foxman (talkcontribs) 19:26, 16 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Caden Foxman: I would suggest that you spend some time editing existing articles in areas that interest you before attempting to create a new article. Creating a new article is probably the hardest task on Wikipedia, and going into it without some experience under your belt could result in hurt feelings and disappointment, which I do not want you to have. You may find it helpful to use the new user tutorial as well. However, if you still want to attempt to create a new article immediately, you should read Your First Article, then go to Articles for Creation. New users cannot directly create articles until the account has 10 edits and is four days old. 331dot (talk) 19:47, 16 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) Hello, Caden Foxman, and welcome to Wikipedia. Yes, there is. But this is not necessarily the most effective way for you to get involved with Wikipedia. Writing a new article is one of the harder tasks on Wikipedia, and dozens of new articles get deleted every day, because the people who create them haven't spent time learning how Wikipedia works, and what are the criteria for Wikipedia to have an article about a subject. I always advise new users to spend a few weeks or months improving some of our six million existing articles before they try this (and we certainly have plenty that could do with some attention).
In any case, the place to look at when you do want to write a new article is your first article
Incidentally, if you are intending to tell the world about you, your boss, your teacher, your company, your college, your band, your charity, or anything else, this is probably not the right place for it. (Apologies if this does not describe you, but it does describe many new editors who try to start with a new article). Paradoxical though it may seem, Wikipedia is not for telling the world about anything: it is for summarising already-published information about things, which means that the world has already been told about the things before Wikipedia is interested: see notability for more on this. --ColinFine (talk) 19:50, 16 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hire someone to write about my organisation

Hi, I want to hire some member of wikipidia to write an article for me on wikipidia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Attornist (talkcontribs) 01:01, 17 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Attornist: That's not something you can use Wikipedia to do, you will need to do so elsewhere. I would also urge you to proceed carefully and not immediately hand over any money. Anyone you hire cannot make any guarantees(such as guaranteeing they will write an article that will not be deleted). They will also need to declare their association with you and that you are paying them per the conflict of interest and paid editing policies.
Also note that you would only merit an article on Wikipedia if you meet the notability criteria for biographies; there are also more specific criteria for certain professions(politicians, athletes, musicians, etc.). This is not social media where everyone can have a page. 331dot (talk) 01:11, 17 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Every politician who has competently completed an election on any level at least once can have an undeletable page, though. Anybody struggling for in-depth independent coverage but legitimately interesting or useful to general audiences might consider winning some small seat. Could resign immediately, if governance isn't appealing. You'd still need sources for your content, but your name would last forever. InedibleHulk (talk) 02:15, June 17, 2019 (UTC)
As the others have indicated, Attornist, that is a bad idea. If Wikipedia has an article about your organisation, it will not be your article (or your organisation's), it will not say what you want it to say, and you will have no control over the content. If you're looking for a way to increase your online presence, Wikipedia is emphatically not the place to do it.
As for hiring: paid editing is not forbidden, but it is set about with restrictions, and many editors (myself included) look on it with suspicion. A Wikipedia article should be written for the benefit of Wikipedia, and absolutely nobody and nothing else. --ColinFine (talk) 09:23, 17 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

No. This has many been discussed many times and a minority source will not change the consensus. See the red box at top of Talk:Fascism. Of course authoritarian, totalitarian governments can be left wing, but the term fascim indicates right wing. Some people use it as a general slur but Wikipedia gives the political meaning.
