Disambiguation link notification for October 7

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Western Bulldogs, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Etihad Stadium. Sydney montage

I changed the montage because there's various issues with the current. We already have an image of Sydney Uni in the article body, there's no need to be repetitious, and the image of Darling Harbour is so nondescript it could literally be any city. There's no distinguishing feature about that particular image that conveys historical importance or even a landmark, and for that reason, I think Fort Denison is a more worthy addition. It's historic, it's a landmark, and it represents Sydney's very important Colonial past. If there's any issue with recognisability, then users can simply click the corresponding link in the caption. Government images on Australia article

Hello, after your initial revert, I created a new section on the Australia talk page for this to be resolved, and noted as much in the edit note for my revert. You did not attempt to resolve the matter there, but instead reverted again. Please see that section so that the issue can be resolved. Removal of images from Ned Kelly page

Hello HappyWaldo. Can you please stop arbitrarily removing mages from Ned Kelly page. Per WP:DR, can we try and reach a compromise? Instead of deleting images, why not make the improvements per WP:STACKING (Which is not a policy, but a guide). In regards to having 'too many images', can you point me to the policy that states that 34 is the limit for images in a page. Thank-you David.moreno72 09:30, 27 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm David.moreno72. I noticed that in this edit to Ned Kelly, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. David.moreno72 08:54, 2 May 2017 (UTC) [reply]

Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did with this edit to Ned Kelly, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear constructive and has been reverted. Please make use of the sandbox if you'd like to experiment with test edits. Thank you. You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Ned Kelly. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 10:01, 2 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that you came extremely close to being blocked for edit warring and violating 3RR on this article. If a content-related dispute occurs, you're expected to discuss the dispute on the article's talk page; do not edit war, please... even if you think (or "know") that you're right. And please be more careful next time ;-). ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 10:16, 2 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi HappyWaldo,
I have started a little micro-stub about this painting. I notice you uploaded the image used in the article to Commons. If you are interested in that sort of thing - by which I mean DYKs, not Australian artworks - it might make a tidy little DYK, given that it has been called "iconic" and has been homaged in other artworks.

Wake in Fright

This section on Gary Bond in The Encyclopaedia of British Film lists Wake in Fright as a "UK/Australian" production (https://books.google.com.au/books?id=V7vPDQAAQBAJ&pg=RA1-PA1905&dq=wake+in+fright+1971+uk+production&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwix2-yeic_WAhXDUbwKHQvaDA0Q6AEILzAB#v=onepage&q=wake%20in%20fright%201971%20uk%20production&f=false), while the BFI lists it as an Australian-US-UK production. Histories of the production (http://www.sbs.com.au/movies/article/2009/06/01/making-wake-fright-part-one) indicate the involvement of Group W's London offices in production.

Thanks for your response - I'm happy to concede if you want, and I'll remove the two sources from the infobox for the time being. I'm actually working on a major overhaul of the article as a whole ATM, so if I find anything concrete of any British involvement, I'll let you know. Improper use of references

Hi HappyWaldo. I notice that you are still introducing unsourced and incorrect edits to the Ned Kelly page. I reviewed your source available at https://books.google.com.au/books?id=WhczfF4KdawC and nowhere does it state that while a teenager Ned led the 'Greta Mob'. May I remind you that Ned spent most of his later teenage years in jail. Yes he was still technically a teenager when he was released in 1874, six months early for good behaviour, for a total of two and a half years, not three, as you keep incorrectly stating, so you will need to provide a source that explicitly states that he was leading the 'Greta Mob' in 1874. I also notice that you keep reverting my good faith and correct edits. May i suggest that you read WP:ONLYREVERT. Thank you David.moreno72 01:17, 20 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit you made to Australian rules football, did not appear constructive and has been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines, because your reasons given were not legitimate. Violation of WP:AGF and WP:ONLYREVERT and WP:V

Hi HappyWaldo. I've checked the reference for you edit to the Kelly page and I can't see the part that says he joined the Greta mob as a teenager. Can you please quote the section please, otherwise I will have to revert per WP:V and WP:FIES. Also why do you keep reverting my small addition of adding relative to 'thanks in part to the support of an extensive network of sympathisers.' Have you read the royal commission report? The family members provided much more support than the sympathisers? You need to actually read WP:ONLYREVERT and WP:OWN and WP:AGF as it is only you who is having any issues with my edits. I have already had to correct many of your edits, not for prose, which is subjective, but for actual historical errors. The edits that I make have all been historically correct, and so per WP:ONLYREVERT YOU CANNOT REVERT THEM, especially without an edit summary citing any wikipedia policy or guideline. just because you disagree with the prose. This is NOT YOUR private site, but a collaborative environment. A review of your talkpage is a litany of complaints and warnings from numerous editors about your hostility to other editors. THIS MUST STOP. David.moreno72 10:21, 20 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Australia-Geography

Hi HappyWaldo. Can you please clarify what you mean by calling it a ‘‘pissing contest’’? Are you saying that other users are trying to show superiority with their own country’s geography pages? If that is the case, then I don’t believe that this has to be a subject of showing who has the better looking country, but rather just showing every country’s natural beauty for everyone to see and appreciate. Is there any other reason for undoing my edit? Does it have anything to do with using up too much data or causing difficulty to upload perhaps? Australian rules football :Protected

Annoyingly, Swarm has protected the Aussie rules page for a month as a circuit breaker –– annoying because I thought we were about to make some headway. I will present the problems with the text as I see it on the article's Talkpage for further discussion. Please highlight any issues there. If you really need to change something, simply make a request to an Admin.

In the meantime, I will be soon starting to watch the annual ANZAC Day Essendon v. Collingwood match. (Hope it is a better game than it has been in the last few years.) Arianewiki1 (talk) 04:01, 25 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Arianewiki1:, If you want to resolve this, then we will continue the discussion here. Clean slate. Let's go through the disputed material carefully, piece by piece.
We will begin by looking at the Australian rules football match that occurred in London in 1888. At this point in our back-and-forth, I'm sure you agree that this match occurred (that IP who deleted the original uncited sentence is therefore incorrect in his edit summary, claiming that Australian rules was never played in the UK back then). The amount of archival evidence available for the match is overwhelming, those newspaper articles I found for you being but two examples. The sentence that you reverted in question reads:
"Australian rules football was played outside Australasia as early as 1888 when Australians studying at English and Scottish universities formed teams and competed in London."
The secondary source I found and cited, Scots in Australia (written by historian Malcolm David Prentis, published by the University of New South Wales. Meets WP:RELIABLE), reads:
"... there was a match in London in 1888 between teams from Edinburgh and London Universities. Many of the players were second or third generation Scottish-Australians."
Please explain the issue that you have with this. - HappyWaldo (talk) 04:29, 25 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. However, do it on the article page not here, as the Admins can see it. Arianewiki1 (talk) 04:37, 25 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Alert

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have recently shown interest in living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect: any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or any page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.
