Problems with signature

Not sure if this would have been better suited to the Technical Village Pump instead, but here I go. I finally linked both my user and talk pages in my signature, but I can't seem to change the color of the text in there, which is a problem because now my signature is in violation of MOS:CONTRAST. I changed the span style tags to include "color:white" or a CSS color, but nothing changes. Any advice? Thanks Relativity 03:56, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Relativity: I scrolled up the page to a section with a signature that uses a different color for a wikilink and viewed the source, and found that there was a <span>...</span> tag within the wikilink. You could try something like this: <span style="border-radius:3em;padding:5px;background:#9932CC;">‍<span style="color:white">Rela</span><span style="color:white">tivity</span></span> to generate Relativity. Is there a List of Wikitext variables anywhere?

In the various Help pages for editing, there are a couple of pages that illustrate the use of variables, but I cannot find anywhere a list of all the variables that can be used. Having stumbled across some that are apparently not listed (such as  United States), I am certain that there are more; but where? STLbells (talk) 04:34, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@STLbells:. That is called a "Template". There very very many, and a list of all would be quite long. There is this list of some templates that are more commonly used Wikipedia:Template_index, and it also has a search box. RudolfRed (talk) 04:53, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Actor claiming a credit for another actor of the same name!

[Redacted] on IMDb is claiming to have acted in ‘Macbeth on the estate’ when it was another actor of the same name! How can the credit be removed from his page as the original [redacted] name has been removed from the credits from the film due to this actor’s identity theft?! 86.26.162.22 (talk) 07:55, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

We can't help you with issues on IMDB- which isn't usually an acceptable source here anyway. Is there a Wikipedia article your question pertains to? 331dot (talk) 07:58, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Most IMDb content is added by ordinary users and most subjects probably never edit the page about them if they even see it. It's very unlikely an actor would personally add a false credit like that and very likely that somebody else accidentally linked another actor by the same name. Don't throw around baseless accusations of identity theft. PrimeHunter (talk) 09:27, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You can report an error to IMDb; I've done it myself a couple of times, though it is a bit cumbersome. If I recall correctly, you start by pressing the edit page button on one of the Lee Williams articles, but be prepared to prove what you claim. Clarityfiend (talk) 10:47, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Administration

How do I become a Wikipedia administrator? If I can, how do I become a Wikipedia administrator? Tanujaanu (talk) 18:19, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You can read about the process at WP:CANDIDATE, but with fewer than 100 edits at this time there's no chance that you'd pass the vetting process. If you're still interested I'd encourage you to stick around, read up on things, and above all make constructive contributions that are entirely unrelated to anything admin-ish until you've gained some more experience. DonIago (talk) 18:33, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Once you know Wikipedia well enough to understand what being an admin involves, you'll probably have realised that you don't want to be one. Maproom (talk) 21:01, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Tanujaanu Given that you have been creating poor drafts for living people (at least five in six days by my count, all declined so far) which prompted me to point out that quality is more important than quantity, you will need months, maybe years, more experience here before many would trust you with the admin tools. How to approach a flawed yet popular article

I was looking over Rorschach test and I feel that the quality of this entire article is extremely poor. Notably: it is overly technical, written with obvious bias, and provides weak citations (the main citation refuting validity concerns is a circular link to another Wikipedia page). I'd like to try to repair the quality of this article but I don't know where to start, partly because I feel that this article is maintained by passionate editors and partly because as I was working to inspect the citations I felt that I was wading through gibberish. Simsarmy (talk) 19:36, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Simsarmy: Hi there! You might want to start by posting on the article's talk page, Talk:Rorschach test. Maybe pick a couple of the biggest issues you see and suggest some improvements. Or look for some better sources and suggest them there. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 02:09, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

How to understand the Verdict on WP:Village Pump and WP:RFC

How to understand the Verdict on WP:Village Pump , WP:ANI, WP:RFC and other policy pages? Many policy pages contain massive walls of discussion-- 75% of which are noise and time-consuming to read. Are there tools, scripts, tags or conventions to easily summarize and/or highlight the verdict and/or ruling? Tonymetz 💬 21:38, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

When it appears no further comments will be productive, the discussion in question will usually be closed. Ella Morris incorrect photo

Hi all, I'm the media officer for the England women's under-23s. The lead image on Ella Morris' page isn't of her. Could someone advise how we get it changed? Ella Morris (footballer). FAcomms1 (talk) 10:24, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@FAcomms1: That was tricky but you're right. Ella Morris (footballer) displays File:Ella Morris 2023.jpg which was cropped from File:Ella Morris Lewes FC Women 1 Southampton Women 4 27 08 2023-687 (53146863975).jpg. It looks like her number is 2 (Ella Morris) but https://www.flickr.com/photos/jamesboyes/53146634054/in/photostream/ shows it's actually 21 (Jemma Purfield). The gap between 2 and 1 is just large enough for 1 to be completely hidden behind her arm. A one-digit number would have been centered above the logo. It also looks like https://www.southamptonfc.com/en/teams/profile/jemma-purfield and not https://www.southamptonfc.com/en/teams/profile/ella-morris. Pinging Victuallers who uploaded the original photo with a very understandable mistake. PrimeHunter (talk) 11:31, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have removed the wrong photo from the article but hope Victuallers will do image cleanup at Commons and possibly look for a suitable photo. We respect copyright so it's sometimes difficult. PrimeHunter (talk) 11:39, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Now that somebody's cleaned up the issue with the photo, there are some other important matters to turn to.
First, you need to change your username. Names that suggest that they are role accounts, or imply that they are editing on behalf of an organisation, are not permitted. All accounts should be individual. You don't have to use your real name (I do, but many editors do not), and if you wish a name like "Jane at FA Comms" would be acceptable. Since you have only made two edits, it is easiest just to abandon that account and create a new one, but if you want to hang onto it, see WP:CHU.
Secondly, if you are the media officer and you intend to edit anything remotely connected with the team, you are regarded as a paid editor, and you must make a formal declaration as explained in that link. ColinFine (talk) 13:11, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@FAcomms1 The better news is that we welcome anyone who wishes to improve Wikipedia and (as this example shows) editors here will try to help, provided that paid editors (and article subjects) are open about their conflict of interest. For general advice on what you can do and how to do it when you spot errors or want to add information, see this guidance. Mike Turnbull (talk) 13:20, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@FAcomms1: Further to the good advice you have already been given, one of the best ways for you to help improve this and other articles would be to make images whose copyright you own available under an open licence, so that we (and others) may use them. the process is explained at Wikipedia:A picture of you. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 13:58, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I couldn't agree more. I've made substantial updates on U23 player articles in recent months, and just like the senior team, it's notable that there is only one photographer who is reliabily providing quality CC images, James Boyes, and this is generally when these players play against Lewes domestically, which isn't very often (at least not for WSL players). Ideally FA comms department would arrange for CC images to be supplied for such players. @FAcomms1 on another matter (while you're here), it would be useful to have stats pages for U23 players on englandfootball.com. At present there is only flashscore documenting these and it's often incomplete. The U17/19 stats from soccerway are more reliable than the U23 stats for example. CommunityNotesContributor (talk) 14:25, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Appreciate all the insight and you updating U23 player articles, it is really helpful. On images, we have a contract with Getty who we use for all of our images across all our England teams. A lot of what you're asking for comes down to time and resource. You'll find our WU23s mirror the set up of the MU21s teams on England Football. Thanks. FAcomms1 (talk) 14:28, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You can upload Getty images with a creative commons license without much extra effort, and they can be used on Wikipedia [1]. Maybe you could check if this would be within the contract? CommunityNotesContributor (talk) 14:36, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@FAcomms1: (written b4 some of above) This is an amazing opportunity FAcomms1 for you, if you can explain this to your bosses. The advantage here is for the game and not the bottom line. Wikipedia would gladly use any photos that, you/the FA, supply of footballers. (Best not to use a paid photographer unless they know how to get rid of their rights to photos). A very very high proportion of all the photos of women footballers are taken by just own enthusiastic photographer who takes photos of Lewes Women FC footballers. See this collection!!. Several similar teams to Lewes have no photos at all that Wikipedia can use.... eg Southampton. The photo of Ella Morris was taken when she was playing Lewes and loaded into Wikimedia by me. Some might say that James Boyes is the best media officer that women's football has in this country. I think/know that. He has been given an award by Wikipedians and thanked by Helen Pankhurst as an amazing role model. I'm guessing you havent heard of him.... we have and hundreds of people see his photos every minute - the FA should give him an award for his real contribution to the game. We could probably get an accurate figure (Andy?) but 100s or 1000s of ppl a minute is my guess of how many ppl see those photos. I'd love to find out what your bosses say. If they looked interested then we could find 100s of ppl who would help. Victuallers (talk) 14:31, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Wikimedia email

I received an email from "wiki@wikimedia.org" regarding an unsolicited request to change my password. How can I check if this was sent from Wikipedia and is legit? Pondini (talk) 12:56, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Pondini That email address is the correct one from which WP:Notifications about various things are sent: see the linked page for details. However, it would be fairly easy for a bad actor to spoof such an email so if you are super-cautious you wouldn't click on any of the links within the message. If you want to, you could change your password at Special:ChangePassword, just as a precaution. Mike Turnbull (talk) 13:10, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As Mike says, that appears to be a valid address. You don't make clear what the message is. What occurs to me is that somebody else has tried to change the password, and the system has sent you a mail asking if this is you. Is that what the mail is?
If so, you don't need to worry: somebody has tried to steal your account (people are doing this all the time) and the security system has foiled them. ColinFine (talk) 13:15, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Pondini: It's probably legit, meaning somebody entered your username at Special:PasswordReset. Anyone can do that. Just ignore it. The mails are indeed sent from wiki@wikimedia.org but it's possible for others to fake a sender address. The only way to be certain it's real is to test whether the temporary password in the mail works, but I see no reason to do that. If you want to do it anyway then avoid any links in the mail and go to our website https://en.wikipedia.org by other means. If you are worried about the security of your account then pick a strong password which isn't used anywhere else. When you know your existing password, you can change it at Special:Preferences with no need for mails. Your account looks uninteresting to try to hack. Maybe somebody thought they might once have created an account by that name. PrimeHunter (talk) 13:20, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Like everyone above already said, that is the email that sends password reset emails, but email addresses can be spoofed. The text of the message should read similar to the following:

Someone (probably you, from IP address <an IP address>) requested a reset of your password for Wikipedia (<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page>). The following user account is associated with this email address:

Username: <your username>

Temporary password: <a random string of characters>

This temporary password will expire in 7 days.

You should log in and choose a new password now. If someone else made this request, or if you have remembered your original password, and you no longer wish to change it, you may ignore this message and continue using your old password.

However, if you did not generate this request and want to prevent unsolicited emails, you may want to update your email options at <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-personal-email>. You can require both username and email address to generate password reset emails. This may reduce the number of such incidents.

The first paragraph can change depending on how the reset was requested. If you did not make the request you can safely ignore it, your old password will continue to work. You can find more info at Help:Reset password. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 13:22, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Aero Vodochody aircraft names

Hi there, I'm not sure if this is exactly the right place for this as I'm a new editor so apologies if this should be somewhere else.

I was going through the suggested edits and ended up on a niche page for an older Czech airplane, and was attempting to find some sources to add. In the process, I noticed that, from this particular manufacturer, from my perspective a number of the Aircraft names are slightly wrong. Many of them on the English Wiki are titled with a dot instead of a dash, when it appears that on the Czech Wiki and the manufacturers naming, the dash is more correct.

Example:

English Wiki: Aero A.29

Czech Wiki: Aero A-29

Note the difference: A.29 vs A-29

In checking this category, I noticed numerous articles with the same issue:

Category:Aero Vodochody aircraft

I would like to fix this, in addition to fixing the issue that a lot of them seem to have with having no citations. My main concern is that if I start changing the titles of a dozen pages that people might think I am vandalizing or something similar, and I wanted to just see if there was a particular way I should go about this, or if it's fine to just start making my way down the list. Thanks! LiterallyDavidBowie (talk) 18:46, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@LiterallyDavidBowie: Hi there! You could create a post at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Aircraft similar to the post you made here, and provide a source that the manufacturer used a dash instead of a dot. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 19:08, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Published scholarly works and original research

If a scholarly work such as a thesis uses original research (which is obviously forbidden here) and that such work has been published, does that make it eligible for being used as a source in an article? e (talk) 18:52, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The prohibition on original research is only in a Wikipedia article, not in a source. From that respect, it is fine. But you should still consider whether it is reliably published - I don't think a doctoral thesis would count unless it was subsequently published in book form by a reputable publisher. It might count as a self-published source, usable in that respect.
The other question is independence: if the article is about a scientific or scholarly matter, an article by one of those who developed or worked on the subject would be a primary source: an independent study would be better. ColinFine (talk) 19:38, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Note that some vanity publishers of theses and the like have the trappings of reputable publishers. But they remain mere vanity publishers. 126.158.136.165 (talk) 22:49, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. We even have a template, Cite thesis, for that. It is used in over 35,000 articles. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 11:39, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reliable person to create a wikipage

Please help me to find out a reliable authenticate person who would be able to help me to create a wikipedia page for me. Thanks. Daichoo (talk) 19:19, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Daichoo.
I'm afraid it really doesn't work like that.
I know you have been a victim of scammers who falsely told you they would "create a page for you", and I'm sorry.
But Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, not a professional directory or social media.
If there has been enough independent material published about you that you satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for notability, then there could be an article. If there hasn't, then, like most of us, you are not notable in Wikipedia's sense, and there cannot be an article about you.
If you meet the criteria for notability, then there can be an article about you, as I said; but it is not very likely that you will find somebody willing to create it. You're welcome to put a request at requested articles, but in honesty, such requests are rarely taken up.
You are discouraged from writing the article yourself, but not forbidden; however, creating an article is a challenging task, and I always advise new editors to spend a few months editing existing articles and learning about how Wikipedia works before they try it.
Please be aware, as well, that if we have an article about you, (whoever writes it) it will not belong to you, you will not control its content, it will not be for your benefit except incidentally, and it may contain material that you would prefer it did not. It should be based almost entirely on what people unconnected with you have published about you, not on what you or your associates say or want to say. See an article about yourself isn't necessarily a good thing.
If after all this you want to try it, please study your first article. ColinFine (talk) 19:49, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Images do not display (on Wikipedia/Wikimedia only)

This may be something I just have to struggle with myself, given the obscurity of my software, but...does Wikipedia use javascript somehow in displaying images? They do not display on this device on Wikipedia or Wikimedia Commons. (Haven't tested on any other WP projects).

Works fine everywhere else, so it isn't as simple as what do I expect given the obscure software. Don't see anything in settings that would cause this. Any suggestions, anyone? Oh, and I do say on *this* device. The Android devices do not have the problem. Elinruby (talk) 02:39, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Elinruby: Hi there! What is "this device" that you refer to? GoingBatty (talk) 02:46, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
VAIO laptop running an extremely obscure Linux distro. But again. the device is not the problem since images display just fine on all other sites, ie Google News, Jstor, CNN, NYT...
I suspect javascript even though it is enabled in the browser, simply because of the antiquity of the whole thing, and as I was scrolling through WP preferences some of the gadgets had labels appended saying that javascript is required to use them. But they are not selected (?) Tried so far: switched off limited width mode since this screen is actually extremely wide (usually on a phone), changed skin from Monobook to Timeless. I guess I could see if this still happens in (WP) safe mode. But where I am boggling is, why would image display have anything to do with javascript?
Btw, is there a way to establish device-specific preferences? The settings I am turning off are needed on the Androids.Elinruby (talk) 03:03, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So... Enabling WP safe mode doesn't seem to matter. Neither does changing the skin; I have now tried Minerva also. Also doesn't seem to matter whether Media Viewer is on or off, or what the maximum image or thumbnail size is. And yes. I am rebooting between these changes, in case. Annoying, since my image editing software is on this laptop but I guess I will just have to work around this, unless someone has a bright idea. There is always View Source, which might confirm the hypothesis, but I am hoping someone knows off the top of their head as I dislike navigating javascript code and even if I find out that that's the issue, confirming the issue is all it will do. I am going to be the edge case for which the developers decline to stand on their heads to make a fix, probably. Honestly, the mobile platform needs their attention more anyway.
TL;DR the actual question is whether WP uses javascript somehow to display images. Elinruby (talk)
@Elinruby: JavaScript is not required. The images are loaded from https://upload.wikimedia.org. Some browsers have a setting to block image loads from others domains, and may have a way to activate the setting for a specific site. Ottoman clothing displays https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/6/6e/Ottoman_official%2C_Turkey%2C_Istanbul%2C_c._1650%2C_ink%2C_watercolour%2C_gold_on_paper_-_Aga_Khan_Museum_-_Toronto%2C_Canada_-_DSC06822.jpg/250px-Ottoman_official%2C_Turkey%2C_Istanbul%2C_c._1650%2C_ink%2C_watercolour%2C_gold_on_paper_-_Aga_Khan_Museum_-_Toronto%2C_Canada_-_DSC06822.jpg. Do you see the image at the latter url? A few interface images are stored here at https://en.wikipedia.org. The lower right corner displays https://en.wikipedia.org/static/images/footer/poweredby_mediawiki_88x31.png. Do you see that? PrimeHunter (talk) 11:00, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@PrimeHunter: I do see those images! Props for noticing what I have been researching the last few hours btw ;)
So what does that tell us. though? Enable Javascript is checked in the browser. Let me take another look to make sure I didn't miss something. This is Opera btw, not AOL or MSN or anything, although a very old version, which is why I was wondering about javascript -- that and the warning labels. I have an even more obscure browser I could take a look at real quick, but I don't know much about that one. Feeling encouraged, like somebody might have an idea here ;P Elinruby (talk) 11:16, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well. For some reason I am no longer having the issue. I have no idea how that happened, however, since the entire time I was editing that article I did not see any of the images, until I clicked your link. I didn't *click* on any of the images, though...hmm. It wouldn't be cache, since I had never been at that article before.... mumble. I probably sound cray-cray. Deep breath. If anyone can explain this to me, I would be grateful. Something about the difference between clicking a link and looking at a link to an image somehow? In any case, I guess this can be closed as resolved. Images now display. Thank you all, it's been nice babbling with you. Elinruby (talk) 11:49, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

How to organize an article

Previous discussion : WP:TEA#Making tabs

Hello, I'm trying to organize the List of Zelda characters page, because it's really confusing to me and probably other people too. Almost all the characters are in the support character category, and it makes it really hard and awkward to navigate. Is there a way to easily put all the characters in different categories? Such as characters from Tears of the Kingdom or characters from Breath of the Wild? Thank you to whoever replies. 2601:48:C601:5550:74C7:D0FE:DEBA:13AF (talk) 03:31, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello IP Address 2601:48:C601:5550:74C7:D0FE:DEBA:13AF. The immediate answer to your first question is, "Yes." I had a similar problem when creating the article Timeline of Francis Drake's circumnavigation. I determined that a table would serve the organization well but hesitated especially when considering how do do so using source code--something of which I am not particularly adept. I solved the matter by first developing my idea and outline on paper until I was satisfied with the overall organizational structure. Then I perused many list articles until I found a similar looking format and used that source code as a model with much copy and pasting. Perhaps you might eventually do the same.
However, a thoughtful answer to your question is that you may not be prepared to execute the necessary editing. Considering that you have completed 13 edits (almost half to the Teahouse or Help Desk) and have been editing for a total of 5 days, this will be a bit of a task for you. Some further practice at less onerous and demanding editing will likely best serve you. This project possibly could be a place for you to assist in building the encyclopedia and simultaneously gain some editing experience. I do hope this helps and I encourage you in your editing. Most kind regards to all, Hu Nhu (talk) 04:29, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Signature font

Hi. I recently changed my signature from the default to the one I'm using right now. Is there any way I can change its font to the monospaced font used by the source editor? I read WP:SIGFONT but couldn't figure out how to do it. Thanks. User:CanonNi (talk|contribs) 05:42, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@CanonNi: Hi there! Have you tried adding <code>...</code> tags to make something like this? User:CanonNi GoingBatty (talk) 06:52, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Works great, thanks! If possible, is there a way to make the [[ and ' ' ' also in the code format? Thanks. User:CanonNi (talk|contribs) 06:59, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Got it working. Thanks! User:CanonNi (talk|contribs) 07:36, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@CanonNi: Looks like you have a redundant code tag leaving vertical bars in the middle – removing the inner opening/closing code tag, like User:CanonNi, would do what you want, I believe (unless you wanted the inner part in its own tag for some reason). Tollens (talk) 08:49, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That fixed it, thanks! User:CanonNi (talk|contribs) 08:51, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Unable to login

unable to login wikipedia page im putting right username then to its showing wrong Authoraanshi7 (talk) 07:55, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Authoraanshi7: You appear to have already logged in successfully as Authoraanshi7 – are you trying to log in to a different account? Tollens (talk) 08:50, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This is your only edit, so just abandon this account and create a new one with the correct name. You will need to log out of this account first. Shantavira|feed me 08:54, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If it's about the account Authoraanshi7 then there is no problem. User:Authoraanshi7 says "Wikipedia does not have a user page with this exact title" but that doesn't matter. It's optional to create a user page and the account works fine without it. PrimeHunter (talk) 10:50, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Twinkle vandalism rollback - automatically opening user page to give warning

Many years ago I disabled the Twinkle feature that automatically opened the user page when reverting vandalism so that a warning could be given. I want to restore that feature but I don't seem to be able to do that. In the Revert and Rollback section of Twinkle Preferences, I've:

• ticked "Automatically open the Twinkle warn menu"
• ticked "vandalism rollback" under "Open user talk page after these types of reversions"
• ticked "Open user talk page when invoking rollback"

It still doesn't seem to do it. What am I not doing right? DeCausa (talk) 08:17, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@DeCausa: There's a "Save changes" button at the very bottom of the config page – have you clicked it? Tollens (talk) 08:52, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Never mind, yes you have. I'll keep looking and see what I can find. Tollens (talk) 08:53, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Your config page seems to be set up the same as mine for everything that looks like it should matter for this, and I do get a user talk page when I use the Twinkle rollback, so I'm not sure why it wouldn't work for you. Is your browser perhaps set up to block popups? Tollens (talk) 08:58, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ah! of course. That's fixed it. Thanks very much for taking the trouble to look - very sorry for taking up your time! I should have checked that first. DeCausa (talk) 10:30, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

NDB Citation again

Hi Folks!! Is there a template to cite this on NDB: [3] It is the new continuation of the biography's for the digital age according to the spiel but the NDB template doesn't seem to work with it. Is it a straight cite web. scope_creepTalk 09:12, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

scope creep, you could ask at Template talk:NDB. If the DNB template can't be used for DNB content without page numbers, it would be helpful to note that on the template page. TSventon (talk) 13:26, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@TSventon: Spent an hour on it, so hopefully they can do something. Thanks. scope_creepTalk 13:28, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Moving "Margaret Tynes" to draft space

What is the correct procedure to recommend a controversial move of Margaret Tynes to Draft Space? --Jax 0677 (talk) 21:59, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Jax 0677:. This might be of assistance. Additionally, I see you have begun discussing the matter HERE. A further step could eventually be to request a wp:3o. Kind regards to all,Hu Nhu (talk) 04:44, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Math formatting -- Template or Tag?

I found that many articles liberally mix the use of the math template and the <math></math> tags (some of them even use italics). I'm wondering which is the recommended way to format math formulas on Wikipedia now? AkiShizuha (talk) 01:02, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Is this draft notable?

About 5 months ago, I thought a video game studio, Reflect Studios, would be notable for an article. However, I'm looking back on the draft after a while, and I no longer am so certain that it is notable. At first I thought they were notable since they have made several very popular games, such as Scrutinized, but I'm having some doubts if that makes them notable enough. Is there an exact way to verify? (Note, wikipedia guideline articles aren't likely to help me, considering you have to read them yourself, so I would just be confusing myself further) SonOfYoutubers (talk) 01:22, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't appear that they have received much notice. I can't find any significant reviews of their games, so WP:GNG suggests they're not notable. Clarityfiend (talk) 01:49, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Even though the Reflect Studios article is not notable enough now, it may be in the future. So if it is still possible, consider saving your article (in the source code format) so that you can easily submit it again should notability develop. Article decline

my biograpy which i had written was declined how to approveit ? Donal69 (talk) 04:32, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I suspect that you mean "improve it." To improve the article, begin by reading the April 4 post with specific suggestions that was left on your talk page. Then, if you have further questions, ask HERE.
If you mean "approve it", you must follow the suggestions for improving the article and then submit it for approval again. Kind regards to all,Hu Nhu (talk) 05:04, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If you're asking about the current content of your sandbox, I regret to say that it appears to be beyond hope. I can't imagine that anything based on it could ever be approved. 126.158.186.199 (talk) 05:05, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Even if you rewrite your sandbox to fix all the grammatical and spelling errors, the topic is still impossible to meet the Notability Guidelines. --AkiShizuha (talk) 06:46, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
