Apple cheese (Lithuanian: Obuolių sūris) is traditional Lithuanian dessert, made out of boiled or cooked apples mixed with sugar.[1][2] Historically the sugar used to be replaced by honey.[3]

History

Originated during the Middle ages. Oldest dated recipe was written by the cook in the house of Radvila.[4]

In 1907 at Vilnius the Lithuanian language magazine ″Lietuvos virėja″ published the recipe for Lithuanian apple cheese.[5]
