La Torta Festival
The La Torta Festival replaced the Pitlagong Festival in 2011. Similar to the previous festival, it is still a celebration of Argao's cultural heritage. This time, however, it is focused more on the Spanish period tradition of making the torta, which is a popular cake made in Argao. Although the production of tuba is more indigenous and Filipino, the new festival certainly brings more class and color to the yearly dance showdown sponsored by the province of Cebu. La Torta Festival happens every September 28-29 in honor of the town’s patron saint and protector, San Miguel Archangel. The two-day festivity is filled with fun and exciting activities which promotes the tourism sites of Argao, its cultural and historical heritage and of course the products of the town particularly the delectable “torta”.
