Kaity Bettina Rodriguez (born August 8, 1984) is an American beauty pageant contestant and former Miss New Jersey USA pageant winner.

Early life and education[edit]

Kaity (pronounced kI'- tE) Rodriguez is of Puerto Rican and African-American descent. Born in New Jersey, she lived in South Carolina with her family for several years of her youth before moving back to New Jersey. Rodriguez graduated from Clifton High School where she was a track athlete, winning many medals and awards during her high school years.[1] After graduation, she attended the University of South Carolina where obtained a bachelor's degree. During her time at USC, Rodriguez competed in university pageants. She never won a crown.[citation needed]


In her first run for Miss New Jersey USA in 2008, Rodriguez won a non-finalist swimsuit award. The next year, Rodriguez won the crown, [3] then went on to compete in the Miss USA 2009 pageant in Las Vegas, which aired on April 19, 2009 on NBC.

After serving as Miss NJ USA and seeing the a tremendous influence the media, fashion, and entertainment industries have on American youth, Rodriguez founded The Role Model Group, created to develop and promote positive female role models.[2]
