A One Day International (ODI) is an international cricket match between two teams, each having ODI status, as determined by the International Cricket Council. The women's variant of the game is very similar to the men's version, with minor modifications to umpiring and pitch requirements.[1] Competitive cricket has been played by women since the mid-eighteenth century. While there were many local and regional clubs promoting the sport, it became organised only after the setting up of the Women's Cricket Association (England) in 1926 and other similar associations in Australia and New Zealand. The first international game played by women was a Test match between England and Australia in 1935. The International Women's Cricket Council was formed in 1958 to coordinate cricket among all interested countries.[2] The first women's ODI was played in 1973 between Young England and Australia as the originally scheduled first match between Jamaica and New Zealand was washed out.[3][4]

A century is a score of hundred or more runs by a batsman in one innings. The first century was scored by Lynne Thomas of England (134) in 1973; within an hour, her opening partner Enid Bakewell also scored a century (101*) in the same match.[5] Thomas' record was broken by Janette Brittin, also of England, more than nine years later in 1982. Subsequent record holders were Lindsay Reeler (Australia, 1988), Lisa Keightley (Australia, 1997), and Belinda Clark (Australia, 1997).[6] Scoring 229* against Denmark in a world cup match, Clark became the first person ever to score a double century in the men's and women's variants of limited over internationals.[7][8] As of November 2016, 72 cricketers have scored a total of 159 centuries.[6][9] Only eleven players have scored five or more centuries in their careers, Charlotte Edwards of England and Meg Lanning of Australia have scored the most (nine).[9]

The list includes all players who have scored a century in women's One Day Internationals and is arranged chronologically. In cases where more than one player has scored a century in a match, the player who started batting first is listed first.
