Qubadlı (also, Ghubat’ly, Koubately, Kubatlu, Kubately, and Qubadly), known as Vorotan by Armenians, is a town in Azerbaijan (de jure). However, it is de facto controlled by the Nagorno Karabakh Republic forces since 31 August 1993.

History

Vorotan as it is known in Armenian was once part of the Kingdom of Armenia and the Kingdom of Artsakh but was deliberately excluded from the Karabakh Autonomous Region in 1923, and then reunited with Nagorno Karabakh Republic during the National Liberation War.[2]
