BLP
[edit]BLP means biography of a LIVING person. I have removed the tag again. Please explain why that tag would apply to an article about a non-living person before adding it. --Elliskev 13:35, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
- It does not, it means any article containing information about living people, otherwise it would be useless to the point of ineffectiveness. Please check the policy. If anyone gets arrested int his case they will be mentioned here and how we describe them must fit in with blp policy, as must information about any living person on wikipedia. Thanks, SqueakBox 18:33, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
- OK. We should probably label every article in Wikipedia a BLP. --Elliskev 18:46, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
Prior attempts to get BLP to apply to the recently dead have not garnered community consensus. I have therefore removed the tag. JoshuaZ (talk) 19:05, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
- There are many articles that do not contain information about living people or have the potential to have info added that may contradict our blp policy. No one is suggesting the blp policy applies to Pressly, but when hopefully someone is arrested for her murder and then some editor wants to add this information then we already have the article tagged as blp, better before than to wait till someone violates blp, by which time the damage would already be done. Think of Barry George and Jill Dando. Thanks, SqueakBox 19:14, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
I've changed the warning box to a more appropriate one. Werdnawerdna (talk) 22:34, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
I have added the Suspect named section. Let me know if I've got it right, and it fits with BLP policy. Wakka092 (talk) 06:46, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
a suspect has been caught in this case with the ongoing investigation http://www.fox16.com/news/local/story.aspx?content_id=955780b8-5362-49fb-a51e-3522782f6058
I don't know how to add it into the wikipedia —Preceding unsigned comment added by Guest173 (talk • contribs) 07:07, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
Notability
[edit]Does this really meet WP:BIO? JoshuaZ (talk) 19:05, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
- Not so sure it does, it seems to be a one-event, news type issue. I really don't think we need an article just because a murder occurred, however horrible it may be. Is there anything else there? Seraphimblade Talk to me 19:08, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
- So afd it then. Thanks, SqueakBox 19:14, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
- I considered nominating it for AfD as not notable, but I figured it would be a lost cause. --Elliskev 19:18, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
- I am not convinced as being murdered does not of itself infer notability and she was not considered notable until she got murdered. Perhaps moving it to Anne Pressly murder case would be a solution. Tjhe coverage in the British press makes this case unusual, perhaps covered elsewhere outside the US too. Thanks, SqueakBox 20:52, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
- I agree with a move. The case itself might be notable. I wouldn't disagree with adding a BLP tag to an article about the murder itself, assuming there is information in the article about a living person. --Elliskev 13:00, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
- Move done, blp tag restored as her parents, and her mother by name, are mentioned in the article, and hopefully we will be mentioning suspects soon, bio tag removed as is not now a bio. Thanks, SqueakBox 15:20, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
- She was very notable before she was killed, both for her young age, her popularity and her personality. I'm from California, and I knew of her before she died. I would disagree completely that she was only notable because she was murdered. The whole discussion comes off as incredibly ignorant. --99.185.0.29 (talk) 00:47, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
- I gotta agree, simply because another person on Wikipedia does not known of an incident, event, or individual does not mean that it is not noteworthy in itself. Rock8591 03:51, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
- I would move it back but won't out of respect for SqueekBox's edit and because I don't want to edit war. Anchors of local television stations are generally notable, and their notability can easily be established. Murders of notable people are often notable in themselves and as you can see from this subject often become more famous than the person's life. I have a hunch that this one will have long-term but minor notability but it's just a guess, only time will tell. I do think that the best solution is to either have a single article about her that mentions her murder but with only due weight given, and a more complete bio that makes her notability clear - or - to split this into two articles, one about her and the other about her murder. There's likely going to be a trial, which will attract even more attention. This article will be hard to deal with until it's over. Given the subject matter I would expect a lot of inexperienced editors and people drawn to current events, lurid details, etc. Wikidemon (talk) 02:57, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
- Hello and I want to agree with the above person from Cali...This is national news, a notable personality, and the horrific nature of the crime itself lends to notoriety. Yes, people are murdered every day, but, not in this way. I also agree that there should/could be a separate biography page...what I want to know are who are the creeps who think that a news anchor having every bone in her face broken until the bones stick out of her jaw is not noteworthy? I've seen articles about less regarding people I don't know of. ALSO FOR THE BLP QUESTIONS...MAYBE THE SUBJECT IS BEING BROUGHT UP BECAUSE OF THIS LINE-It is also rumored that there may be possible connection with former champion boxer Jermain Taylor. Taylor was brought into Little Rock Police for questioning, and there is a rumor that Taylor may have had an affair with Pressly. The police are looking into a link between Vance and Taylor. This article is not directly about him, but he is living and that "rumor" doesn't sound like something with any sources. Hope he doesn't sue anybody. Wikidemon, you are also correct. I have been on various crime and news forums and this story is drawing alot of attention. The details are lurid and people are outraged at the amount of violence. I imagine some readers will feel the lack of details about the violence perpetrated upon her as minimizing her death.75.145.103.13 (talk) 21:56, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
- I removed that line since there are no sources to back it up. In fact, the only reliable source (Arkansas Times Blog) I could find cited police sources saying it was NOT true:

vance a fan?
[edit]"Vance was reportedly a fan of Pressly, and was a frequent viewer of her morning news show.[15]"
that's interesting, but the article linked in that reference makes no mention of it. 63.142.146.194 (talk) 22:51, 22 September 2013 (UTC)
