  • This article is pretty biased. For example, an entire section for the PS3 slim was made and then towards the end it says something about how Microsoft's was on a much smaller scale with only Fable 3 as an announcement. Needs moar NPOV. 124.188.66.252 (talk) 09:09, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

Importance[edit]

Why is this low importance when E3 and the Tokyo Games Show are both high? Doesn't seem right. Wheatleya (talk) 16:05, 20 March 2011 (UTC)

First, The attendance numbers are inflated for Gamescom/GC and TGS because they allow public attendance when compared to E3 (industry- and press-only). Both E3 and TGS are significant because they are old (15+ years running), compared to GC/Gamescom (only from 2002+). Gamescom replaced the defunct GC. Furthermore, because of this, the time of year they are held, and the public nature of GC/Gamescom, game companies will develop with a target date for the initial announce/reveal at E3 and then spend the next couple of months developing more public-oriented content for show at Gamescom. TGS is important because it is where the original "Big 3" console developers conduct their reveals (Nintendo, Sega, Sony) for the JDM. Cowbert (talk) 15:27, 11 August 2011 (UTC)

Dota2[edit]

Nothing about dota 2 there? How come? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.146.29.64 (talk) 03:53, 11 August 2011 (UTC)

Because no one has added it. Feel free to do so. Please provide a reliable reference (see WP:VERIFY and see WP:VG/RS for a list of reliable and unreliable video game sources). - X201 (talk) 07:50, 11 August 2011 (UTC)7
You seriously think Dota 2 is more important than all the other notable games being exhibited at this tade fair? It also appears that Riot games is showing dominion mode too, so it's goanna look ugly. --75.159.2.59 (talk) 05:43, 17 August 2011 (UTC)

Gamescom 2011[edit]

I've added all games and companies in attendance. Anyone can delete any that aren't notable. Brightgalrs (/braɪtˈɡæl.ərˌɛs/)[1] 17:13, 16 August 2011 (UTC)

Notable as in with an article? So then we can delete any that dont have an article with it? Like Crossfire from 2010 games con? Moreover why is there a notability guideline for gamescon, does it mean that thousands of new games are being exhibited, thus we have to like filter out that mass of non-notable video games and only list ones that have an article with it. Does semi-notability count (notable enough to be mentioned as part of an article, like a list but not an article by itself). --75.159.2.59 (talk) 05:48, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
I'm just following the precedent of the article. The last two Gamescom's in this article were set up the same way. I guess we could just keep them all, some of the redlinks are because they were announced at the convention. Brightgalrs (/braɪtˈɡæl.ərˌɛs/)[1] 17:27, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
I think limiting the gamescom article to notable exhibitors is fine, but I think you also can create Wikipedia:Summary style list articles: List of gamescom 2009 exhibitors, List of gamescom 2010 exhibitors, List of gamescom 2011 exhibitors, and List of gamescom 2012 exhibitors. This will allow for situations, such as computer game Mir-Mahna (which I just added info to), where the exhibitor isn't notable but the computer game is or where an exhibitor or game is notable, but we have yet to write an article on it. -- Uzma Gamal (talk) 11:34, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

The name[edit]

This article is called "gamescom" with a small "g" and the same goes for the start of the article. That doesn't live up to Wikipedia's standards. The article should be renamed Gamescom and the beginning of the article should say something along the lines of "Gamescom (stylized as gamescom)". It is grammatically incorrect to start a sentence with a small letter, and likewise Wikipedia articles start with a capital letter.--LonelyGreyWolf (talk) 22:09, 20 June 2013 (UTC)

Done. Hopefully it stays that way. -- Nw77 (talk) 00:10, 8 July 2013 (UTC)

Name Origin[edit]

What does "Com" actually stand for?  TVippy  22:43, 5 June 2016 (UTC)

GamescomGamescom – due to stylisation of the topic, the article name should not be capitalised, per Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style#Article_titles cases like this and eBay, iPhone, etc. should have capitalisation according to how they are stylised. InsertCleverPhraseHere 04:26, 20 October 2016 (UTC)

  • Oppose this is a stylization "The largest game convention in Europe, with over a quartermillion people going through its gates, Gamescom is held in Cologne Trade Fair Center in Cologne, Germany. " In ictu oculi (talk) 06:43, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
  • Procedural close, you are requesting the page to be moved to itself. What you are looking for is {{lowercase title}}. © Tbhotch (en-2.5). 16:32, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
