Israeli pronunciation of "Palestine"

[edit]

I'm Israeli and every non-Arab Israeli I know pronounces the Arabic name "Filastin" as "Falestin". ("Falestina" is used for the British Mandate term, as the article states correctly.) Anybody disagree?

I am Persian from Dubai, my first language is Arabic though. Anyways, in formal Arabic language its pronounced "Felastin", but the Palestineans themselves along with the Lebanese, Syrians, and Jordanians all pronounce it as "Falastin". But here in the Persian Gulf states (UAE, KSA, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, and Oman) we call it "Felestin".

I'm more than sure with this piece of information (generally talking) .. Hope that was helpfull :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.229.185.170 (talk) 09:21, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think this article should be deleted, for two reasons:

  1. It involves too much original research
  2. Most of the names in this article are not in fact names of the Levant, but names of part of the Levant. Debresser (talk) 17:05, 11 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

+1, e.g. Phoenician: 𐤊𐤍𐤏𐤍 (Knʿn) - where is that ever attested? --Qumranhöhle (talk) 09:26, 11 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
