Lyrics?

[edit]

Are the Japanese romaji lyrics really nessecary at all?Bakahito 14:13, 8 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

On listening to the song it sounds to me that the first reversed set of lyrics in the Bridge are "I need true emotion." This reading of the lyrics seems to be more inline with the overall theme of the song. Should the refrence be changed?69.241.226.245 05:21, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Backwards Lyrics

[edit]

Should it mention that Sanctuary has lyrics when it's sung backwards? [1]--Sango4ever (talk) 23:29, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it's already in the article. Read first, please.—Loveはドコ? (talkcontribs) 23:35, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It only says "several instences." But the whole song has reversed lyrics. --Sango4ever (talk) 23:15, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
...yeah, we're not going to use the OR that is "it was Ansem".—Loveはドコ? (talkcontribs) 23:27, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sample Credits

[edit]

British Rapper Devlin sampled this in his song London City. Should this be mentioned? 82.47.53.220 (talk) 14:25, 21 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, thank you! --Prosperosity (talk) 00:31, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Passion (Hikaru Utada song)

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Passion (Hikaru Utada song)'s orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Background

[edit]

The entire part about Rush Hour and Exodus has nothing to do with the song. This belongs on the page for Utada or Exodus. - Anon

I'll take this on, as it's the oldest review currently up, and we need to keep the line moving. --ProtoDrake (talk) 18:51, 26 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Review

[edit]

@CaliforniaDreamsFan:, I've had an initial look through the article and there are some things that stand out.

References
  • Refs 4, 24, 27, 35 and 56 are dead and need archiving, updating or replacing.
  • Ref 15 needs archiving as it redirects to new site's main page. Plus, it is not from Square Enix, but Square Enix Music, which is an unaffiliated music review and news site now named Video Game Music Online.
  • Refs 3, 5, 7, 10, 20 and 34 need their urls updating.
  • Fix retrieval date in Ref 24
  • Ref 26 is invalid as it cites Wikipedia as a source. Please replace with something more appropriate or remove.
  • Ref 55 is a bare url. Full citation needed.
  • Ref 36 needs a subscription to enter it, making it awkward to use. Please find an alternative if possible.
  • Please ensure that all refs follow the prevalent mm/dd/yy formatting, as I have seen some references that use yy/mm/dd formatting.
Grammar/Formatting
  • Kingdom Hearts II is not once linked in the article, and it is not mentioned in the article despite the song having been used for it. Maybe something in the lead along the lines of "..her fourth studio album Ultra Blue (2004), and used as the theme song for Kingdom Hearts II", or something like that.
  • The sentence " If Utada decides not to contribute towards the third installment, then "Passion" and "Sanctuary" would remain Utada's last song with the game series." is not sourced, and the question about whether Utada will provide a theme song for III is still up in the air, so maybe this piece should be removed.

That's all for now. I'll have another look through when these issues have been addressed. --ProtoDrake (talk) 13:08, 27 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Response 1 from CaliforniaDreamsFan

[edit]

@ProtoDrake: - Done both. Finished archiving references, updating references, adding citations and re-formatting dates. Some links and references had to be removed and/or replaced as they were unable access, etc. (Changes can be found here)

Thank you for the quick response. Having looked over it again, I feel that this article can pass now. Keep up the good work. --ProtoDrake (talk) 07:47, 28 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I am a huge fan of this song (and the artist), and I was the Wikipedian that nominated it (which eventually received a GA approval), and potentially want to gain this article prospects as a Featured Artice. However, over time, I have noticed that there were a lot of elements and mistakes that were not identified in the review that was originally conducted to get it to GA standard; for example, there were prose/grammar issues, inconsistent value of citation templates, overuse of words, awkward tenses and placements of sub-articles and the inappropriate/discouraging use of blogs and other below A-class websites (little to my knowledge at the time). As a result, I am putting this up for re-assessment to see if this is of any right to make it inside the GA community. I have tided up the article severely to a good and appropriate standard, but need more advice in order to improve it and keep it at GA level, and I'll give it my all and determination to take your guys comments and criticisms in order to get this to a higher standard in any way possible. Any criticism or comments are welcomed. Best regards, CaliforniaDreamsFan (talk · contribs} 05:22, 24 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • I do bear responsibility for this as it's my own missed mistakes that have partially caused this. I'll certainly give some advice about the references: Ref 41 says "Subscription based" which probably means people in general can't access the information its providing unless its in preliminary blurb. Also all references not yet archived need to be so either through Wayback Machine, WebCite or Archive.is. I think other editors are more suited to catching grammar errors. --ProtoDrake (talk) 09:09, 24 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Remove additional unncessary filler

[edit]

Is this appropriate to remove the opening paragraph in the Background and conception section particularly the stuff about Tarzan because what does that have to do with the creation of the song? Plus the source is from kh2.co.uk which is presumbly a fan-site???:

In early 2003, The Walt Disney Company and Square Enix confirmed the sequel to Kingdom Hearts (2002). That July, the creator of Kingdom Hearts, Tetsuya Nomura, aimed to have the game in stores by 2004, but several legal issues regarding the approval of characters and aesthetics from the Disney franchise obscured this, such as the Tarzan world being denied due to a change in ownership.
