Reverend King → Chukwuemeka Ezeugo – While I understand that a renowned reformist like Martin Luther King jnr will generally have greater prominence than most seemingly unpopular (or should I say unrepresented from a western perspective) articles, I still think it will be operationally in-order to retarget this redirect to the popular Nigerian pastor by the same name. I do not think MLK was overly famously known simply as "Reverend King", so I believe this title will serve greater purpose as the title of the convicted pastor.
"Reverend King" is the WP:COMMONNAME and WP:TITLE for this popular convicted Nigerian pastor. I have guaged the importance of the redirect to its present parent article to it being the primary title to the very popular Nigerian pastor, and I came to an obvious conclusion per Wikipedia globalization guidelines that it is more appropriate to use the title for the Nigerian pastor. The name is so important to the "clergyman" that members of the church are even compelled to use "King" as their surname. He is basically unknown by his birthname. I'm not surprised at your vote, neither was I thrilled by the results from Google books. You certainly do not expect a convicted individual, notable predominantly only in Nigeria, to have the same Google news hit as a globally acclaimed civil right activist. My reason for this move request is the significance of those hits, not the number. "Reverend King" as the title of the Nigerian pastor article is of higher importance than its present usage in the MLK article. I understand that most Wikipedians are Americans, so wouldn't be surprising to see many oppose votes, but I felt I needed it to be on record that someone took a stand on what he perceived was the right thing to do. Comment - Just a comment from someone who lives in Atlanta, where MLK was born, lived and is buried. Naturally he comes up in the local media here quite a bit. I can testify that "Reverend King" is not a super common way to refer to him. One reason for this is his father was also a reverend, so saying "Reverend King" would be ambiguous. (FYI his father lived until 1984). There are also several other ordained ministers in his immediately family such as his brother. When a short version of his name is used in the media here, it is almost always "Dr. King". --Krelnik (talk) 12:46, 18 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose move, suggest disambiguation instead. As Krelnik pointed out, there were two famous people named (called?) "Reverend Martin Luther King". Ezeugo is known as "Reverend King". This is precisely what a disambiguation page is for. — MShabazzTalk/Stalk13:21, 18 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
