Deletion tagging

[edit]

Glad to see you're back.

This is a tricky area. I would say for longtime contributors I would give the benefit of the doubt for such images, but I don't know if there's a policy rule one way or the other. It would definitely be better to have an image that is still verifiable. (This is another reminder of why it's so much better to upload images to Commons.) I looked on flickr and it doesn't seem like there are any freely-licensed images of people in Koh Kong, but perhaps we can convince someone to change the licensing of another photo. If there's a suitable replacement we won't have to worry if that one photo gets deleted. Calliopejen1 (talk) 13:16, 19 March 2010 (UTC)

DYK for Purbuchok Hermitage

[edit]
Updated DYK query On March 20, 2010, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Purbuchok Hermitage, which you created or substantially expanded. You are welcome to check how many hits your article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check ) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Images

[edit]

Yeah, my page got spammed quite a bit as well. I did remove probably a hundred images while going through over 12,000 articles. I considered deleting them on the spot to prevent messages like these, but figured some editors might work to make sure the image meets non-free guidelines. I'm looking forward to a spam bot that can recognize that it has already posted once to a user's page, and can then condense the message down to a single sentencte instead of repeating the same information again. And again... --Happy editing! Nehrams2020 (talkcontrib) 00:57, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

  • Hi, my good evil Doctor! I honestly thought that kind of thing was fixed back during the Betacommand episode -- one of the persistent gripes about his bot was that it spammed User's talk pages with warnings. After all, just how hard is it to add a loop or function to check if problematic images came from the same person & shorten the notice accordingly? (Then again, bots are still leaving notes on Hephaestos's Talk page, despite the fact he left 5+ years ago & I protected the page.) Sorry that I delayed in responding, but I've been having a crummy week & didn't feel like answering messages. -- llywrch (talk) 03:23, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

Hi,
I'm sorry I came over as cynical, that was not my intention. However, you *should* really know better than go ahead an copy&paste copyrighted material without attribution. It is an explicit license violation, very bad form, and impolite, even if it comes from a source that has a compatible license and the same goal we have. Someone over at dewiki went to a whole lot of trouble to work on the article, the absolute least you need to do is to say where you got the content from in your first edit summary. You must know this, you've spent far more time than I have.
Why I might have come over as not particularly helpful (while technically correct) is because I am sad that you went back to your old personae, and it seems your old style of editing. I was very happy when it looked like you as Himalayan Explorer started to focus on the depth of knowledge, not on the breath, since your focus on the latter tends to *create* lots of work for other editors. With those politician stubs a while ago, you created stubs with information from lists, and placed maintainance tags so that others start working on translating and sourcing them. In the case at hand, you copied very long articles over, and then posted a request that someone else translates them, which is by far the brunt of the work (many hours of translating vs. the minutes of copy&paste work you did).
Nonetheless, I have pointed you towards WP:IMPORT in my post there though, in that piped link, you might have missed that. If you are serious about copying an article from dewiki, that's the proper way to do it.
Amalthea 01:26, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
Two more links: Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and Wikipedia:Requests for page importation. Amalthea 01:32, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
For a start, I have NOT gone back to my old style of editing. And you forget all of the GOOD work I actually did as Blofeld and will continue to do anyway. You don't know what you are talking about. I spent most of yesterday improving crappy stubs on Russian cities and expanding them to start class level and I will continuie to mostly work on improving existing content. All I did was try to transwiki a few Berlin road lists which I thought were worthwhile and in good faith that the German project would be happy to help translate. I did not know you would react like you did and then have the cheek to leave such a condescending message that you did. I thought there would be a spirit of collaboration. Anyway I think its time the individual wikipedias were treated as one project. I did more expansion work on existing articles yesterday than you;ve done in a single month so how dare you judge me and assume I've gone back to creating sub stubs. I returned as Blofeld for a few months in the winter and di nothing but good. Expanding this and creating decent articles like Wormleighton Manor and Virginia House etc. If the Kathmandu is the sort of the sort of work I accomplish as Blofeld recently, who are you to tell what or what I should not be doing? Dr. Blofeld White cat 11:21, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
Will you calm down please? I've not written "it seems" up there by accident. If I'm wrong, that's good. But allow me to comment on what I consider useful work, and what's just adding to backlogs, alright?
You attempted to m:Help:Transwiki it, but what you did was copy&pasting it without attribution, which is a clear license violation. Doesn't matter where the content came from, even if you do that with content coming from enwiki, you are violating CC-by-SA. That was, however, a fixable problem, since the old revisions from dewiki could still have been imported. And still can of course. Amalthea 11:38, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

I am perfectly calm. There are far better articles to transwiki. But you are wrong to assume that just because I've returned again to this account I will automatically degrade as an editor. I don't know though where you expect me to credit the author of the other wiki article?? Most people transwikying articles saying "translating from spanish wikipedia" and add a translated|es tag in the talk page. There is rarely ever a mention of the actual author name from the other wiki. I used to mention that it has been translated from the other wiki in the references but I was told by you and Hans Adler a while ago that that also was not adequate. Oh and I've made an agreement with the Tibetan Himalayan library to use their images to illustrate a number of monaseteries. But I'm waiting for them to formally say "We release these images under a Creative Commons Attribution 2.0 license." As I know how paranoid some people are about copyright..... Dr. Blofeld White cat 11:42, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

That would already be enough, yes, see WP:Copying within Wikipedia, and up until a few months ago that was all that we could do. If the source is mentioned in the first edit summary, even if it requires following an interlanguage link, the situation is clear, and everyone gets the credit they expect. Since we have the import function here on enwiki now (which was the standard on most other language versions, which tend to import far more content then we do), we can actually import revisions made there into enwiki. That's the optimum, even if it creates weird problems for now since some of those user names might not exist or be associated with different accounts here. Amalthea 11:52, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

Well actually when all those problems broke out over the German politician stubs I stopped adding a interwiki reference crediting the other wiki as I was told it was wrong to transwiki information from another wikipedia as it is an unreliable source. So the few I've created in the meantime have generally been translated and other sources found to back up what is written. I agree it is appropriate to cite the other wiki as translation material but that whole ordeal back in the summer made me almost too embarrassed to say that the article has been translated from another wiki as people were fussing about reliability and saying "wikipedia is not an adequate source. Personally I disgaree to an extent. If the information translated is referenced and can be supported by reliable outside references then I think it is perfectly fine to do so. Perhaps you could add sometihing to the Wikipedia:WikiProject Intertranswiki page saying about how you must credit the original author on the other wikipedia?... Dr. Blofeld White cat 11:55, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

Those are two different concepts. We can't use other language versions as a reliable source for information vis à vis WP:V, so it's great if you can improve the sourcing during translation, but the licensed work being translated still needs to be attributed per CC-by-SA.Amalthea 11:59, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

I know this, but it is still another contradiction all the same... But in my experience you cite the other wiki as a source and people plaster loads of reliability tags over it and if you don't people start brandishing copyvio polices to you. The best thing is to transwiki an article in your sandbox, find one or two reliable sources to at least support the claims and then post adding the interwiki and outside references in the reference section I think. Please can you edit Wikipedia:WikiProject Intertranswiki and add a firm instruction in the Licensing section to ensure that the other wiki MUST be credited to abide by our licensing terms. This would be a great help. Dr. Blofeld White cat 12:05, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

Regarding WP:WikiProject Intertranswiki, what's the bot you're using to create the topic stubs here, and what work does it do? If it's creating stubs based on other project's content, that will be the first place to note the origin. Amalthea 11:59, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

Nobody is using a bot to generate content as of yet. Thaddeus did mention something but as yet nothing has been done... Its just pure manual work at present. Dr. Blofeld White cat 12:06, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

OK, added a sentence there, there's detailed information in WP:Copying within Wikipedia about background and methods. I know that there are talk page templates that some people use, but can't find them right now. Amalthea 12:20, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

OK thanks. Just so there are not any future disputes over copyright licensing or concerns that I am creating lack lustre content I'm working on the article Ernst Achenbach in my sandbox. Once created I need to you to confirm that it is acceptable and that I am doing nothing controversial. Dr. Blofeld White cat 12:24, 20 March 2010 (UTC) That's OK the transwiki tags state this anyway but it helps for people who are just creating an article without th tag being there. Ernst Achenbach OK? Dr. Blofeld White cat 12:52, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

Write "Translation of de:Ernst Achenbach" in the edit summary, place {{Translated page}} on the talk page, and you're good.
I think I understand now what you meant above with trouble about other wikis not being a reliable source, that's probably due to placement of the {{iw-ref}} template in the references section, which sort of implies that you reference it to the German Wikipedia article. I'm not sure what the template is supposed to do, or why you placed it there. I would certainly remove it though, but maybe I'm missing the point of it? Amalthea 12:54, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

This was what I meant. I'll remove the in article reference then if you think the editing history and talk page note is enough. Dr. Blofeld White cat 12:56, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

I think that's better, yes. Attribution is good, and in the article prose it's not really helping ... but I've asked on the template's talk when this is supposed to be used, the documentation doesn't really say. Amalthea 12:58, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

Iagree. But copyright law though is an often odd business. As long as you are certain it is enough to credit the source in the history and on the talk page I'll take your word for it. Dr. Blofeld White cat 12:59, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

I'm certain. Amalthea 13:03, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
And that article shows very well that I've been wrong with my insinuation at the top of this section, and I'm happy that I was. Amalthea 13:12, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
I'd love to get rid of {{iw-ref}} and similar, but see Wikipedia:Templates for deletion/Log/2009 April 13#Category:Interwiki translation templates. Maybe time for another TFD, especially given that we can now export from the major languages that have these. –xenotalk 13:12, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

Then that makes both of us who were wrong, me about the copying and pasting and article notability and you about me resuming creating unresponsible stubs. Apology accepted. In future if there is a clearly notable article I would like transwikied and want it done by fluent readers I'll make a request on the project talk page or ask an editor first before copying and pasting and dumping it. But if you see User:Dr. Blofeld/DYK you can see I am still active improving articles on a wide range of subjects. A lot of articles do need transwikying but I'll make sure they contain some information and a few sources even if stub/start class and that I credit the other wiki.

As for the interntranswiki footer reference I'm not sure. I know a number of people dislike it and think it makes the article look unreliable. I stopped using it for this reason. I don't have any problems either way, but I believe it was nominated for deletion a few times preivously and it was kept... Regards. Dr. Blofeld White cat 13:18, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

Thank you very much for the thoughtful gesture and the encouragement. Unfortunately, like you said, Syria is one of the least well-covered countries. As for the settlements. I've actually been wanting to msg you about this, because I've seen some of your contribs to Palestine, and your work with Ameer. I have the full file of population statistics for all syrian cities/towns/villages (2004 census), and I was thinking of starting a major push to populate the large/notable ones (>25,000?). Can help? It is. But the website says it's open Mondays to Fridays only, so I'm not sure I'll be able to get inside until I get a day off that's not a "major holiday". Regardless...excellent work with those historic buildings in Alexandria. Nice to see my hometown getting some love. :-) --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 14:02, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
Oop - forgot. I finished the Czech talkpages last night. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 14:02, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, Alexandria's a nice town; it's preserved a lot of its colonial charm. Here's the nomination. And here's the full set of nominations for Alexandria sites. Incidentally, I don't know if the Register listing mentions this, but Adolf Cluss (and what an interesting fellow he was) had a hand in reconstructing the City Hall after it burned. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 14:10, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
Excellent. Let me know when you do; I have some more pictures at home I can add to the article. Exterior shots, but they cover varying angles of the building. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 15:08, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
Well, I can give it a try sometime - I'm not sure, though, how much of it's open to the public. It's still a working city office, after all. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 15:39, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
Awesome. Excellent work so far. There should be a PD image of the City Hall as it used to look, floating around somewhere. I'll see if I can find it. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 17:37, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
Here it is. What do you have from Commons? I have some detailed views of bits of the building. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 17:55, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
Well, maybe if the weekend's nice I'll swing by and see what I can do. I don't remember what images I have offhand; I do think I have a better view of the clocktower, closeup, though I could be wrong. (It's hard to photograph complete at that angle.) Once I get home I'll scrounge around and show you what I've got. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 19:00, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
By the way - glad you like my image. :-) It's a big building; it's hard to take it all in from a good vantage point. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 19:03, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
I frequently wonder the same thing...sometimes I think maybe I'll suggest it sometime.
Regarding interior photographs; I can try, but I'll have to look up regulations online. It is an active civic building, after all; I doubt it would be a problem getting into most areas, but still. As for images...cropping isn't bad, but I like trying to get different images as often as possible. And since I've got a battery of them available, why not use one or two?
As for my photography efforts...I long ago gave up on the idea of being Walker Evans. At least this way I can present some of my work publicly. :-) --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 19:10, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
We'll see - that might make a nice weekend jaunt. If the weather holds. Ah, well...in the meantime I have a pile of work to get to before I get out today. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 19:30, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

I'm not sure what I'll be doing next. If I do anything non-Western, it's probably going to be in the realm of Papua New Guinean subdivisions, which could stand some filling out. And I know of a couple of other cultural articles I can start (like about the rere, the shark-tooth sword of Kiribati.) I'm hoping I can get one (timbuwarra) up for DYK soon. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 16:05, 24 March 2010 (UTC)

The problem with that, as always, is the unreliability of machine translations. Once a better artificial intelligence engine, which can think like a human and make worthwhile efforts, is created, then it might be feasible. At the moment, however, it's troublesome. Yes, it would be nice; but it some ways it's better to have a shorter article in GOOD English than a longer one in BAD English. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 16:35, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
Well, that's the key - some kind of immediate input from a human and not a machine. If a viable manner of doing it can be presented - a way in which human participation can be encouraged - then I'm all for it. If that would facilitate growth across all Wikis, so much the better. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 16:59, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
Sure thing - I'll do 'em this evening. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 19:16, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
No worries; I'll be careful. :-) --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 19:33, 24 March 2010 (UTC)

Not a whole lot of info to be found on this town, but I added some.Thelmadatter (talk) 16:19, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

The problem with that ordering is that is is not clear what is the town and what is the municipality. For example, it does not make sense to talk about wildlife for a town and it does not make sense to talk about a main plaza for a municipality. The article starts with "x is a town and municipality..." because we are combining the two, we need to make the distinction and the relationship between the two clear to those not familiar with the municipality system in Mexico (took me long enough to figure it out). This has been discussed in WP:MEXICO and I have organized all the municipal/town articles I have created in more or less this way. See Villa del Carbón for an example though Ive done most of the Municipalities of Mexico State articles Ive worked on in this way. We have decided to combine town/municipality for most cases because in most cases there is a lot of overlap between the two (especially in cases where the town or city is coextensive with the municipality or the town is the only thing of consequence in the whole municipality) and separating them causes editing confusion where folks put town info in the municipality article and vice versa. Hello Mr. Blofeld... I need to ask you something. According to Box Office India, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham had grossed Rs. 49,00,00,000, and it was listed as 490 million (US$5.9 million). However, Kapoor's latest release was 3 Idiots, which grossed Rs. 202,32,00,000 according to BOI. How would you report this on Kapoor's article: 1,202 million (US$14 million) or 2,023 million (US$24 million)? -- Bollywood Dreamz talk 18:38, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

Liked all these films. ShahidTalk2me 18:06, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
It was brilliant, somewhat typical yet unique in its own way. ShahidTalk2me 20:07, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
No I have yet to see it. I was also surprised that the Hurt Locker swept the major awards over Avatar. Cameron must have been upset losing out to his ex. Were you surprised at Sandra Bullock's win? ShahidTalk2me 17:05, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

City Hall

[edit]

Yeah - this hasn't been the best weekend for me to get out of the house; I was scheduled up to my neck and it's been raining. Also, e-mailed. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 14:02, 29 March 2010 (UTC)

Infobox: Pre-Columbian site

[edit]

I am currently Ga reviewing Tonina. I noticing the infobox created by you. Great job done. Can you please bring the same changes in Template:Infobox Mandir too, with the location map appearing and more updated look. Thanks. --Redtigerxyz Talk 13:17, 29 March 2010 (UTC)

Please suggest at User:Himalayan Explorer page that User:Himalayan Explorer is you OR a redirect here. I was actually shocked for a second to see the retired part but then realized that you may be editing by the other account. As the GA nominations have been started by User:Himalayan Explorer. Also User:Himalayan Explorer has many edits, and if someone wanted to contact him, can contact you here. --Redtigerxyz Talk 15:00, 29 March 2010 (UTC)

See WP:NEWSECTION. Thanks! –xenotalk 15:54, 29 March 2010 (UTC)

I have no idea what you mean. Dr. Blofeld White cat 15:56, 29 March 2010 (UTC)

In this edit , you used the automatically generated edit summary of "(→Update scheduled for CountryAbbr2)"; however, your message had nothing to do with that subject. You should either use the "new section" button to make a new section, or blank the default edit summary if you are going to make new sections in this manner. –xenotalk 16:50, 29 March 2010 (UTC)

Modifications to Template:Infobox Mandir

[edit]

Hello Dr. Blofeld, I understand you are currently modifying the Infobox Mandir. I had already created 2 articles on hindu temples (Sri Ruthra Kaliamman Temple and Sri Manmatha Karuneshvarar Temple) with the old template details. After your modifications, do I need to modify the articles to include the new details or the existing details will not have any impact on the articles.Thaejas (talk) 15:57, 29 March 2010 (UTC)

Thanks. Looks nice. Though a few changes are needed:

  • "proper_name" field: which is official name and should appear in the infobox title (as was in earlier design). Id not filled, article name is used
  • Can the old "coordinates" and "date_built" field also used?
  • As in Template:Infobox hindu deity: Devanagari, Sanskrit_Transliteration, Script_name, Script
  • Layout with Name with script and Location "Name and Location"; then "Architecture and culture" with "Deity name" the first field, then "History". --Redtigerxyz Talk 16:21, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
  • Thanks for the changes. A little confused. Should I use the existing Location tag or have to change to include the Country,State,District,Settlement tags. Now I can still see the location is uneffected. Also sometimes the map is not visible in the new infobox.Thaejas (talk) 16:24, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
  • Hello Dr.Blofeld, I have successfully done the changes for Sri Manmatha Karuneshvarar Temple akin to Sri Ruthra Kaliamman Temple. But in case of Sri Mariamman Temple, the tamil_script tag seems not working. Did I miss anything? Also how do I incorporate the other four languages popularly used in Singapore, English, Chinese, Pinyin and Malay as in the other Template:SG neighbourhood? Thaejas (talk) 00:44, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
Thanks a lot. --Redtigerxyz Talk 04:55, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

DYK for Lloyd House

[edit]
Updated DYK query On March 29, 2010, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Lloyd House, which you created or substantially expanded. You are welcome to check how many hits your article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check ) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Materialscientist (talk) 16:38, 29 March 2010 (UTC)

I have added some text without disurbing the draft prepared by you. I am working to add much more text. As I mentioned earlier, my interest in river articles is very low (too much familiarity with the subject). I hope to finish it next week. With regard to Infobox mandir, can you add rows on Denomination, Height of structure, and also at the bottom to add one more image or map, as is done in the case of forts.

After Bhutan, recently I have covered the best known Buddhist temples or pagodas of Theravada Buddhism denomination in Myanmar (four articles), Thailand (1) and Bangladesh (1). I have visited all these countries. I have yet to cover Afghanistan and Pakistan (where I have seen some Buddhist temples) to comlete the subcontinent.

I asked my hardware expert in my office about copying of images from the Tibetan Library pages. He could not do it. We have to cover six more hermitages of Sera. I have the references for each of them but withtout images it will be not be interesting at all to post them.

Don't bother about Deogarh. It is over and I have forgotten about it now. I am now 71 yeaers old and not many years left. I don't carry any hard feelings and I have not felt insulted.

Thanks for editing the Himalayan Railaway article. I have made the changes suggested and also fixed the references. --Nvvchar (talk) 16:48, 29 March 2010 (UTC)

You may like to expand this article at User:Nvvchar/sandbox/Saptha Badri. You could add from a wikifrench article by the same name here [1]. I don't know French. I have also completed my inputs for the article on Bhutan Textile Museum. I will be away for two days. You can post them on DYK after you add your inputs. The Vientiane article was a spur of the momemt decision this afternoon. I hope you like it.--Nvvchar (talk) 15:13, 30 March 2010 (UTC) The prose part of the present stub article is only 835 ch. My expansion is many times more than 5x.

Marrakech sounds interesting. My son visited this place quite some years back. I hope you are not in a hurry on this artcile. Let me finish my committment to you on Manas river.--Nvvchar (talk) 15:27, 30 March 2010 (UTC) The French articile on has more deatils on the structure, which you may like to incorporate.--Nvvchar (talk) 15:34, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for getting the Alexandria City Hall up to a DYK. You did a lot of work on the article and I appreciate it. Great job, master of evil. Remember (talk) 19:04, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, see also Bayne-Fowle House and Lloyd House (Alexandria, Virginia). Dr. Blofeld White cat 19:12, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

First off, excellent work on the Alexandria articles.
Secondly: I can try, but that's a good day trip for me; Manassas is at least an hour from my house. If I'm ever out that way for anything else I'll keep it in mind. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 19:39, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, it's close to an hour. Maybe forty-five minutes on a good day. Hell, Springfield and Newington are about twenty minutes' drive from me. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 19:42, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

Launch pad 2

[edit]

Thanks for the nudge. I meant to get to it this week, but got enchanted by the vast spaces of Kola :) Anyway, I'll try getting to it tomorrow, but why the hurry? Since it's in user space, it'll be eligible for DYK for five days after being pulled out to the article space.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); March 30, 2010; 20:59 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:Wynne Gibson.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Wynne Gibson.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Draftlock (talk) 01:30, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

Clint Eastwood

[edit]

I was at the library today, and I saw another biography on Eastwood (American Rebel by Marc Eliot). I checked it out and will add some further cites to the article when I finish reading it. You've definitely done a great job on improving and expanding the article, although it probably does need some further trimming (that can come later of course). --Happy editing!
