S&M

Just in response: the song remains a #1 for Brit; the reason she is no longer credited is because the remix no longer accounted for a significant portion of sales for the song. It doesn't discount the fact that her remix drove the single to #1 and that Billboard credited her for it, and that is what the article portrays in the end--the song and the artist(s) credited at the time of the chart peak. --Wikipeep 494 (talk) 20:45, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

Echoing the statement above - you made these incorrect edits to List of Hot 100 number-one singles of 2011 (U.S.) last week also. Please read the source link that is on the page, which explains that the song is Spears's fifth number-one. An additional source which links directly to the April 30 chart has been added. This cropped up on my Watchlist. Just to point out that MusicGeek101 is correct here and that these warning templates are unjustified. @Intoronto1125 - an article creator can oppose and remove a proposed deletion: to quote from the page "If anyone, including the article creator, removes a proposed deletion tag from an article, do not replace it". I have seen a lot of people using wikipedia and they have had a hard time finding things and following links. While many are very tech savvy, some simply want general knowledge. I hear you, but this is not something to be decided between the both of us. Consensus is always needed in Wikipedia and I strongly suggest you seek it before making mass changes. Per Wikipedia guideline (WP:SEEALSO), "As a general rule the See Also section should not repeat links which appear in the article's body or its navigation boxes." Hi. I'm not sure if you're watching the Island Def Jam page, but I have replied to the discussion you initiated regarding the move back to the original name. Sir Georg Solti and Pierre Boulez Grammy awards

I noticed that you are a frequent updater to this page: Grammy Award records.

You might not be responsible for this, but shouldn't Sir Georg Solti be the first name listed as the "Most Grammy Awards won by a male artist"? Also, according to the Recording Academy's past winners search, Pierre Boulez has won 26 awards. This would place him alone as the the third individual in the "Most Grammys won" table and alone in second place (behind Solti) in the "Most Grammy Awards won by a male artist" table. Thanks for brining that to my attention. I have been somewhat torn by that because solti being part of the classical community he has had done so much work in different capacities. When I think "Male artist" I think of one who is the performing artist. He was won as an artist and conductor. This complicates things on a few levels. I find that this page needs a lot of watching over and oversight mainly because these records can be complex matters. However, I will dig deeper on this issue. Actually, if there is a wikipedia editor with extensive knowledge of classical music, I would greatly appreciate the help on that front. Indeed, but Boulez is also a member of the classical community and has won Grammy Awards in multiple capacities, as both conductor and a composer. Similarly, Alison Krauss has won as a performer, collaborator, and producer, so that's kind of the same thing, isn't it? One thing I would be interested in doing on the Grammy Award records page would be to add a section for most Grammys won by a conductor. I was thinking of perhaps having something havinging the top five most honored conductors. 2018 Summer Youth Olympics bids

Hey,

I was wondering why you undid the redirection of the Abuja and Russia bid that were speculated, but did not actually submit a bid to the IOC. I'm not really sure what potential use these pages could have, as the fact that they were interested in bidding, and that they didn't (and the reason why if you think its important) cannot just be included on the main page. This is the way that it is done on other bid pages, example 2020 Summer Olympics and 2022 Winter Olympics, not to mention the ones that have already been awarded. (It's especially confusing since you have been so diligently upkeeping the lot of them, but seem to be using two different practices). If anything the Youth Olympics are far less notable, and a potential bid would likely have almost zero coverage, where as a potential olympic bis, say Quebec City or even Ostersund, would have way more coverage (and probably way more coverage than an actual bid for the Youth Olympics too). I kept the redirects as a compromise, because I really don't think those are needed, let alone the page. Please let me know your thoughts, otherwise I do intend to bring the articles to AFD. 2019 Pan American Games

Most the sources I am reading are in Spanish with google translation. It looks like January 31, 2013 is the last official day to confirm bidding. Kuala Lumpur 2024 Olympic Bid

Not sure if you saw it or not, but I did a pruning of the page and removed many entries that simply didn't deserve to be there. I've left my reasons on the talk page, but to summarize specifically for Kuala Lumpur, the referenced article does not say that Kuala Lumpur is bidding, or even planning to bid. It is merely some journalist's opinion that because Kuala Lumpur is hosting the convention that they might, perhaps bid for an Olympics, and that Olympics might, perhaps be 2024. It is simply just too speculative, and coming from someone with no power to create such a bid. If it was (like all the entries I've left on the page) an official with the power to promote/organize a bid (mayor, governor, president, NOC, etc.) or it was an announcement of the formation of an exploratory committee, then it would belong. Please discuss on the talk page (using an edit summary is not enough, especially when consensus appears to be against your edits) why you think it should be added. Also note that none of my arguments are that the references are outdated, but rather address aspects of what should be considered a reliable source versus random journalistic speculation. Hey MusicGeek, you said that Jay-Z has 18 Grammys, not seventeen. I just cited the Grammy Award section of his awards list, and I counted 17. Can you verify that you are correct? Teammm ^talk

Go to the Grammy Award winners search on the Grammy Website. First search "Jay-Z", then search "Shawn Carter". That will give you fifteen. Then add three (which he just won) to that total and you have 18. --MusicGeek101 (talk) 04:46, 12 February 2013 (UTC)

If you look here and here, yes you are correct that 18 results total show. But, for 2009 Best Rap Song - Run This Town, it is listed in results for both "Shawn Carter" and "Jay-Z". You just made an error because the same thing was listed twice. Jay-Z has 17 Grammy Awards. I hope I helped. Have a good day. Teammm ^talk
