For a dose of criticism of Wikipedia[edit]

Here's another on the world of Wikigroaning. Granted a problem with this is that it goes by length and an article being longer doesn't really mean Wikipedia deems it "more important." A recent one got my attention so I'm redoing this.
  • Then there's maybe fictional actor Troy McClure, featured, versus Oscar nominated Arthur Kennedy whose article is rated "Low-importance."

Lawrenceville, Pennsylvania[edit]

I made some changes to your additions to Lawrenceville, Pennsylvania. You added Robert Craddock as a native of the borough. I looked his info up and he is from Lawrenceville (Pittsburgh). This I fixed. The addition of the Rockwell fellow seems to be correct. Lawrenceville in Tioga County is very near Elmira, New York which is the area that Rockwell represented. Long marriages of notable non-actors[edit]

Redirection as deletion[edit]

I've seen this before, but I don't know for certain what's best here. Essentially an article starts getting minimal attention and someone redirects it. They may not redirect it to anything it has anything to do with, but it serves the purpose of dissolving it. Or a name is a redirect to someone with a similar name when there's actually a notable person with the exact name.--T. Anthony (talk) 13:03, 16 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, I see your point above. However, I just undid a restore of Anti-Australian sentiment. It is a pretty appalling article, that I once suggested should be sent to AfD. At least as a redirect, it can be salvageable when someone gets the necessary RS and applies a good dose of NPOV. Obviously I'm sceptical of it being a reasonable article, not a distillation of media beatups of isolated incidents. Hope this is okay. cygnis insignis 16:24, 16 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Don't think you were. And you saw an uncontroversial improvement and made that edit. My position is that it was a product of a rabble rouser's disruption to Australian society. I have a prejudice regarding an unfortunate episode in my nation's history, which is why I asked that someone else take it to AfD. I am somewhat guarded, to people online, about where I live. And that includes people I've known online for 8-9 years so don't take offense. Anyway I'm supposed to be off, during the week, for Lent but I seem to still check in on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Jacques Delisse[edit]

I saw it on the French "good articles." After starting it I wondered if it was notable enough for English as there's few English language sources. Looking him up further the main sources I'm finding are that he was Vice-President of the Royal Society of Arts and Sciences of Mauritius, but that's a French source too. Oh well.--T. There is no need for English language sources. I've put in the French ones. Sources in English are preferred when available, but sources in any language are perfectly acceptable in the English Wikipedia. If there are both, and the ones in another language are better than the English ones, both should be included See {WP:RS

Henri Storck[edit]

Thanks for your work on Henri Storck. As reviewing admin, I too am going through this batch of nominations [13], and finding references for all or almost all in the French Wikipedia versions of the article--Storck for example has two honorary doctorates for his work. I gather you too know French, so you might want to check for that also. Alas I only took one full semester of French. (It was going to be two semesters, but the second I did at home through a tutor and it got messed up. Oddly I took a full year of Chinese, but I seem to have retained less of it) I'm surprised how much I learned/remembered from that, I can almost follow some French sites, but actually I don't really know French. UCKG controversies that often get deleted from the article[edit]

Belgian Parliament Inquiry[edit]

A 1997 Belgian Parliament Inquiry Committee on Sects [1] labeled the UCKG as a dangerous cult. The report further alleged that "[The Church] pretends that the Kingdom of God is down here and that it can offer a solution to every possible problem, depression, unemployment, family and financial problems. In fact, [the UCKG] apparently seems to be a truly criminal association, whose only purpose is enriching."[2] The Belgian report itself generated controversy for varied reasons and the Parliament ultimately rejected most of it.[3]

The "Kicking of the Saint"[edit]

The most serious controversy involving the UCKG in Brazil is the episode known as the "Kicking of the Saint." In the early hours of October 12, 1995 - a holiday in honor of national Catholic patron Our Lady of Aparecida - UCKG's bishop Sergio von Helde expressed his objection to icon worship on the UCKG-owned Record TV. Winding down[edit]

I may have created my last article for a time. Hence I'm delinking to the red-lists and such. I'm not necessarily quitting Wikipedia though. I just think from now on if I do stuff it'll be more about improving what I've already created and categorizing uncategorized articles. Also I might work on removing vandalism when found as a kind of penance. I had other things in mind too, but forget what they were. Anyway I think I've done enough for awhile so am winding down as the title states. Feel free to still pay attention to the red-lists even if I plan to ignore them. See ya later.--T. When pictures are removed it's often a matter of there not being proper rights to them. Although on occasion it's a vandalism issue. I'll check. 2010 Winter Olympians[edit]

Although I intended to quit making articles I've started doing some on Winter Olympians. It's kind of fun, but the only ones I plan to add to User:T. Anthony/Articles I have created are the ones that win something or have some particular notice. I'm sort-of making them "quick and dirty" so they're not just great articles. If any of them gain notice though they'll hopefully expand. I intend to do some with the Paralympians too. I imagine there are still several medal-winning Paralympians without articles.--T. I have seen that you edited some volleyball articles. Some players articles, most of them looks outdated. I would like to improve players by country. Joseph Lockard Martin Jr,[edit]

I don't understand why Lock Martin is being repeatedly deleted from the 'Tallest Actor' section of this article. I have edited him in at least three times. I ask you since you seem to be taking ownership of this content and that is admirable. I have included IMDB cites referencing his film career and his height (7'. 7"). If I have erred in the addition of this information then someone should 'pick-up-the-ball' and run with it instead of simply removing important, relevant and factual data.

Claim of page creation[edit]

I'm not sure what it means to be a page creator. I noticed that you are named as the Creator of Rowland Brown. Does that mean that you created the stub? I have been working on it for a year. The original information was incorrect and incomplete, based on a single source. I am pretty much finished with the article and am in the midst of providing all of the sources. It means I started the English language article, yes. I can rename that "User:T. Anthony/Articles I have created" to "Articles I have started" if it's really important to you, but I don't think that should be necessary. I try to acknowledge that many articles I've started were mostly done by others. Rowland Brown being an example. Hi. Don't you tink, that such an "article" is respectless for the athlete? You've showed the IPC-Link. There's written about his World records, about his title at the WCH. At the german Wikipedia article are shown some more of his success. So you can't say, there's nothing to find. But this what you have written - sorry - is not really helpfull for a reader (reader who actually want to know more about him know he won gold at the Paralympics - so the only information in the article should help which reader?). And there will be nobody come to rescue something. As an author you have a responsibility for the article and his quality. And quality should go over quantity. That makes me feel better. Still it did inspire me to try to be a bit more detailed when I start a Paralympian article so he did some good. Problem is I do find it hard to find stuff on most Paralympians outside the British Commonwealth. Part of this is that I don't know any other languages except for a smattering of French and Chinese. Although yeah I did think he was a tad too harsh/judgmental with it and was tempted to be a bit annoyed. (If he'd just been "it's nice your doing these, but I think the quality and detail could be better" I might have gotten the message to be more detailed without feeling quite so annoyed) I've kind of avoided doing any Germans since he posted.--T. Well he got at Lugnuts (I sent him a cheeseburger) and Edgar2007 and probably others. Ignore it. WP works on teamwork. Some contribute one thing, others another. Mine is languages, so I restrict myself to getting the spellings right, though I do like to find some local stories as well have done that for Czech and Cuban paralympic athletes in the past. Right now with 2012 in full swing, there isn't time to nose around the Lithuanian newspapers aided by Google translate! You keep doing what you're doing. Kudos! Not sure if I've been linked to one like that before, but if so I think it was a rare thing. Anyway it survived due to no consensus and so I removed much of the sections about it.--T.
