WP:ANI complaint

[edit]

Hi Deanb! I have filed an official complaint against you on WP:ANI for disruptive behavior, as you exemplified lately with your constant capitalization changes of Park HaYarkon. You may wish to respond at Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#Seemingly trivial matter. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 09:15, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to Tel Aviv, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Image permission problem with Image:TA.jpg

[edit]
Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:TA.jpg, which you've sourced to http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=428079&page=8. I noticed that that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the image (or other media file) agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the image to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the image has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Images lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 19:05, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Phil Collins

[edit]

Hi, is it possible that you put Phil Collins' photo "Philfirstfinale.jpg" on Commons, so that people from other language Wikis could use it? Thanks! --Mario Žamić (talk) 18:39, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey! I'd love to do that, but don't really know how. would u be kind and help me please? thanks

  • OK first you create an account:

LGBT in Tel Aviv

[edit]

Hi again! Please don't change the reference for the LGBT rights in Tel Aviv. The Ynet article relates to the sentence in the Wikipedia article text, while The Independent article does not, therefore not valid in this case. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 20:51, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add commentary or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles, as you did to Paul McCartney. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. Thank you. Ward3001 (talk) 20:45, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add content without citing reliable sources, as you did to Tel Aviv. Before making potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. Hi again! I have tagged your image, Image:TA Skyline.jpg, for speedy deletion, because it is a copyright violation [of http://www.flickr.com/photos/borusa01/2692787278/]. Please stop doing this, you're just wasting everyone's time. I know you want a good picture up, but this isn't a good reason to steal someone else's hard work. If you have a decent camera and live in Tel Aviv, go take a picture yourself! I'm sure everyone will appreciate it. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 20:20, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Tel Aviv

[edit]

Hi Deanb! As I told Nudve earlier today, I didn't remove the picture because of copyright concerns (although the copyright status could be problematic, but the upload is innocent until proven guilty), but because it's simply not a good picture. It shows an old area of Jaffa with the Tel Aviv beachfront in the hazy background. This hardly represents the city of Tel Aviv. Moreover, the picture is of extremely low quality. Usually title pictures for big cities include a collage with a skyline and a few important landmarks, but we probably don't have enough quality pictures to make something like, so Beivushtang's panorama is the next-best thing. There were a lot of discussions and edit-summary arguments in favor of this image, which you seem to ignore in favor of edit-warring. If you believe that Kaasmail's image is better, present your argument on the talk page. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 20:16, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It actually has all three Akirov towers, and it's not my picture anyway. Unfortunately, we do not have many high-quality skyline pictures of Tel Aviv to be picky about a 3-year-old picture. I am planning to take a picture from the same location as Beivushtang in the future, but it's a logistical challenge that I can't undertake at the moment. If you know a good photographer who can help with this, just ask him to take the picture! The copyright has to be released though, as I'm sure you know by now. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 10:43, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Deanb, it isn't difficult to just check the source. If you see a problem, fix it, don't make it worse. Consider this a warning for repeatedly edit-warring. You were already brough to ANI twice for two different things, so I think you should try and learn more about Wikipedia before engaging in disruptive editing. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 17:00, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Blatant copyvios

[edit]

I found that File:JerusalemCoveredInSnow.jpg was a copyvio of [2] and File:BarRe1.jpg a copyvio of [3]. This, coupled with your history, I have deemed you not trustworthy, and have accordingly deleted all of the images you uploaded and claimed to be your own. You have abused the system for far too long. Don't press your luck. If you continue to upload copyrighted content, you will simply be blocked from editing. If you did not take a picture, then don't upload it and lie about ownership. It really is that simple.-Andrew c [talk] 17:01, 9 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of File:BarRe1.jpg

[edit]

A tag has been placed on File:BarRe1.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image showing no evidence that the copyright holder has released it under the license indicated by the uploader which has been tagged as such for more than 7 days, and it still lacks the necessary information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:File:BarRe1.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. -- smurdah[citation needed] 17:41, 9 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Image sizing

[edit]

Hi Deanb! As I said before, please do not resize picture to give them custom size, like you did in the article Dubnow Park. There is a reason that the default size for thumbnails is 180px, and only very wide pictures should be given a custom size. Thanks, Ynhockey (Talk) 22:29, 26 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again, what is the reason for this specific 180px size? it's sometimes too small. (Deanb (talk))

You can actually change it in your preferences, but it will only work for you. The reason you should not change the sizes is for accessibility reasons, and so that the image can be resized in preferences (so if someone wants to make all images 500px in size, they could). The main reason that the default is 180px is that Wikipedia articles are meant to mostly display text, and images only serve as an extra to illustrate the subject (ערך מוסף). All good articles have many images, which if made bigger would make the text unreadable on non-wide-screen resolutions. See for example Battles of the Kinarot Valley (all images there are standard, so try to increase the size in your preferences to see what it does). I hope that clarified the issue. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 14:17, 27 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It did, thanks... now, whats the policy if i wanna post pix, not taken by me, of landmarks and buildings in Tel Aviv? I know a lot of articles have photos that were not taken by who posted them. (Deanb (talk))

For the last time, please don't regular thumbnails. About your question, the policy is dependent on the license. If the photographer released the copyright, you need to post evidence that they did, and after that you can upload the image to commons (http://commons.wikimedia.org). However, you are encouraged to upload your own work. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 22:21, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Israeli Singles Chart

[edit]

The article Israeli Singles Chart has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non notable chart, no sources.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. File:Kaplan street.jpg

[edit]

I have deleted File:Kaplan street.jpg for the exact same reason I did the first time. You wrote " I (Deanb (talk)) created this work entirely by myself.", but didn't note the image came from flickr. The Flickr image predates your upload of the image here. The reason why this image is not acceptable is because it is not licensed in a manner which is compatible with Wikipedia's free licensing. It has a non-commercial stipulation, which is a provision not acceptable on Wikipedia. If this is your Flickr account, please log in and change the license information on that file to one of the 2 Creative Commons licenses that are acceptable (CC-BY or CC-BY-SA). I'd gladly undelete the image if it is licensed correctly on Flickr. With that said, it is disruptive to upload previously deleted content, and even more disruptive to claim an image is yours when it is not. As you should know, these sorts of image abuses will lead to a block. If you have any specific questions about how we use images, or about image licensing, please feel free to contact me or ask at WP:HD or WP:MCQ. -Andrew c [talk] 18:23, 13 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Tel aviv promenade.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Tel aviv promenade.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 14:20, 19 December 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Salavat (talk) 14:20, 19 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Considering deleting all uploads

[edit]

Hi Deanb, I just ran across File:Sticky and Sweet.jpg which, like all your uploads, you claim as self made. I've looked through the rest of your images and find this highly unlikely. This was a professional shot, shot with a professional camera and a multi thousand $ Canon long lens. You took this from a website and uploaded here. Looking through the rest of your images I can see evidence of at least 7 different camera's and, while this is not impossible, everything I can see tells me that we should suspect every image you have uploaded. How can you convince me that the remaining images are yours, unlike the ones you have uploaded that have already been deleted as copyright violations ? - Peripitus (Talk) 12:22, 20 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Yarkon7.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Yarkon7.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 05:59, 4 January 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. [edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Meir Park TLV.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. ww2censor (talk) 05:55, 17 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Meir Park main avenue.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. I don't understand something guys, you just keep on deleting images that I'm uploading, even when they are self-taken with my own cellphone camera! and I also allow anybody to use it, so where's the problem here? (Deanb (talk))

Tel Aviv sklyline

[edit]

Deanb, you continue to edit-war. I uploaded this image because I believe it is better, and if you wish to you may discuss the issue with me. Without any sort of explanation, you blatantly undo my edits, which I have taken care to explaind, and have violated the three-revert rule. This is not the way Wikipedia is supposed to function, and if you wish to replace my image, you may do so by contacting me, or by raising the issue on the talk page. However, childishly edit-warring will not solve anything, and I don't want to continue.--RM (Be my friend) 03:02, 28 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I need not explain to you that the picture I've uploaded is much better and gives a better impression of the TLV skyline... how come I need to get your premission to upload it? who are you to tell me what shot should be up there? {Deanb (talk)}

Hi Deanb! Please don't edit-war over the image. If you continue to do so, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Thanks, Ynhockey (Talk) 00:02, 30 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I asked for an explanation and you guys didn't give me one... {Deanb (talk)}

I am not telling you what to do here, I am just trying dialogue over edit warring. And anyway, your shot is better and it gives a better impression... in your opinion? That's not a valid argument point. You have to have a legitimate reason. You don't need my permission, but you may recieve a block if you continue to edit-war without explanation.--RM (Be my friend) 21:20, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, but the image you put into the infobox does not offer a broad enough view of the city to pass inspection. Try including it in the article.--RM (Be my friend) 23:24, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I'm trying to find a better looking shot of the entire skyline, because I don't think that the one that is shown now is the best we could find... what can we do? {Deanb (talk)}

Y'know what? Let's just forget that and re-insert the collage and stop fighting, OK?--RM (Be my friend) 15:58, 23 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The collage has more support than the night view. You have had the opportunity to comment at Talk:Tel Aviv and have not taken advantage of it. Simply reverting the image repeatedly, without saying anything in the edit summary, is disruptive. If you continue I will recommend you for censure by an administrator. Please cooperate instead of warring. Hertz1888 (talk) 21:32, 25 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nice new collage!--RM (Be my friend) 16:00, 30 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

thanks! finally some good comments! worked hard on that one {Deanb (talk)}

Although I must add that you really shouldn't expand the image that much, as it expands the entire infobox a tad bit too much. Its much more preferred to leave it this way.--RM (Be my friend) 03:21, 2 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, since you seem to be a graphic artist, could you please try one for Haifa?--RM (Be my friend) 00:47, 11 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I can try... what shots do u think, should be there? (Deanb (talk))

I think that you should include a panorama, and shots of places and landmarks such as the Shrine of the Bab, the IEC Tower or Sail Tower, the Port of Haifa, and maybe the Technion or the University of Haifa.RM (Be my friend) 15:49, 13 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked for a period of 1 week from editing for persistent vandalism. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make constructive contributions. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below; but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. -- Cirt (talk) 20:42, 19 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop referring to Michael Jackson and Madonna as icons in the Lady Gaga article. It goes against our neutral point of view policies. –Chase (talk) 20:46, 29 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Tel Aviv

[edit]

I am making no MESS of Tel Aviv, I am just giving it more diverse pictures. Also, quality is not that different, so it doesn't really matter. If you would like your pictures to stay, then add them in and mix them with mine, but don't just go on deleting other peoples pictures if you don't like them. Also, be sure to sign your posts.--RM (Be my friend) 19:26, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Deanb, have you actually looked at the article? You keep returning doubled material (from previous vandalism or accident) in last section at the bottom. I am trying to clean up this contamination, some of which is hidden. The giveaway is the 114k article size (as opposed to 111k). Also, it would really, really help if you used the edit summaries regularly to communicate what you are doing, rather than only to complain about others' attempted good deeds. Yarkon Park

[edit]

Hi Deanb! Please review WP:HE against before making further changes to the article Yarkon Park. —Ynhockey (Talk) 22:02, 5 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop edit-warring over this article. The idea is to improve it and add information that is based on solid sources. Why do you keep removing photos and reverting to an old version? Several editors have already written to you about this. Can you explain what your problem is?--Yespleazy (talk) 12:48, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add original research or novel syntheses of previously published material to our articles as you apparently did to Alejandro (song). Please cite a reliable source for all of your information. Thank you. — Legolas (talk2me) 16:05, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please Exercise Caution When Editing - You Mistakenly Undid Important Additions to Tel Aviv

[edit]

Hello Deanb,

I noticed that you mistakenly undid important additions that were made recently to Tel Aviv, which included correction of facts and elimination of POV and Peacock statements. Your contributions to the entry are welcome, but please exercise caution as not to undo other contributors' work. Wikipedia, after all, is as good as the cumulative result of our efforts. Thank you!

December 2010

[edit]

Dear Deanb,

Welcome to Wikipedia! As stated earlier (see comment from 23:08, 13 December 2010), you have been reverting the entry Tel Aviv thereby deleting improvements that others and myself have done. This is an official warning to cease doing so. If this behehavior continues, we will request blocking you from Wikipedia.

As you may not have been aware, changes to the text should be discussed in the discussion area prior to overwriting or otherwise removing other contributors' work. If you have comments or suggestions for the changes made to the entry, please bring it in the discussion page.

I notice that you have been blocked in the past due to vandalism. Let's not let it happen again.

  1. This is level 2 warning. Ignoring this notice will lead to a formal complaint.

Carefulness

[edit]

Please be more careful when editing, to avoid "collateral damage". Both of your edits of 18 December 2010 to Ivri Lider made such errors: the first, adjacent to a word-change that you made, deleted a "Citation needed" tag without providing a citation; the second deleted a blue wikilink while you were removing redlinks. --Rich Janis (talk) 08:14, 19 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add the Israeli Singles Chart, or any other chart listed at WP:BADCHARTS, to any Wikipedia articles. Thank you.—Kww(talk) 14:53, 4 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It's a single network chart. We don't permit any single network charts: not MTV, not Los 40, not MYX, not VH1. Galgalatz's charts are listed on WP:BADCHARTS. If you continue to insert it against consensus, you will find yourself blocked.—Kww(talk) 15:26, 4 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked

[edit]

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 6 months for violating copyright policy by copying text or images into Wikipedia from another source without verifying permission. You have been previously warned that this is against policy, but have persisted. Once the block has expired, you're welcome to make useful contributions. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Ynhockey (Talk) 23:53, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

To make it more clear why I applied this block: after repeated warnings and at least one related block, you continued to upload copyrighted images and claim them as your own, for example, by uploading this image here. I hope that after your block expires, you will change your path and stop uploading material that does not belong to you. —Ynhockey (Talk) 23:59, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. I know you probably won't want to do this seeing as how you were blocked, but it would be helpful if you yourself revealed the sources of your images. If you file an unblock request, this may help you get a smaller block or an unblock. I am also going to list all images here:

Note

After further examination, which resulted finding more copyrighted images and over a dozen suspected violations, and upon the suggestion of another administrator, I have changed the block duration to indefinite. My previous suggestion still stands however: if you help identify your copyright violations, other administrators, as well as myself, might shorten the duration of the block to allow you to contribute constructively in the future. —Ynhockey (Talk) 17:38, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for abuse of editing privileges. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

I hereby ask again, as my original account, to unblock Deanb! I promise that I will act only by the Wikipedia rules. try helping me with them, instead of chasing me away! PLEASE! thank you {Deanb (talk)}

Bavli moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Bavli, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please follow the confirms on the Articles for Creation template atop the page. » Shadowowl | talk 12:32, 24 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Nir Brand has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unref blp; no evidence of meeting WP:ENT or WP:GNG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
