Hi, I'll do the peer review for this, but I just noticed you have Otis Redding open at peer review, and I believe there's a rule about only having one article posted there at a time. It will take me a while to work through the page, so it might not be a bad idea to drop a line with Ruhrfisch or Brianboulton and ask them to close and then re-open when the Otis Redding review closes. Anyway, let me know what you decide to do. Truthkeeper (talk) 21:26, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

Hygrophorus olivaceoalbus GA review

Hi GOP, I've posted some comments on the GA review for this article. Sasata has made some comments, but I thought I'd ping you too. Thanks, Mark Arsten (talk) 21:49, 4 June 2012 (UTC)

Akhmatova

Hi GOP, thanks for the comments on Akhmatova. I went through a time of working up various articles for my own satisfaction. It might be interesting to do a peer review on the article and see what comes up but I am spending less time than ever on Wikipedia these days. I rewrote Keats also and had it peer reviewed. It is in need of a style and themes section which I am very unlikely to get to any time soon. Your thoughts are welcome. Best wishes Span (talk) 17:14, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

Dostoyevsky

I have to finish copy-edits on Aleksey Pisemsky right now, but that should only take another hour or so worth of work. It looks like Dostoyevsky will need quite a bit of copy-editing as well.

After looking at the article, I would suggest that the sub-section on Jews etc should be a section of its own, probably following the Religious beliefs section. I suggest this because a "themes" section usually deals with the themes of the author's literary works. Major themes in Dostoyevsky's fictional works would be psychology/suffering, East versus West, Religion/skepticism, etc.

I would also suggest that we rename the current themes and style section "major themes", and give "style" a section of its own, where we can deal with the technical aspects of his writing.

Bravo for what you've already done btw! INeverCry 19:26, 16 May 2012 (UTC)

I've finished with Pisemsky. I made the changes to Dostoyevsky as noted above. Eventually the themes section will have several sub-sections of its own. The style section is unsourced as are some themes details, but I'm thinking you're in the middle of working on that. My first order of business will be to begin the long process of going through the entire biography and copy-editing for grammar, etc, as this is what people see and read first.

For sources once I get to the critical and technical work, I have a copy of the Cambridge Companion to Dostoyevskii, Modern Critical Views edited by Bloom 1988, Leonid Grossman's Life and Work of Dostoyevsky, Terras's History of Russian literature, and copies of all of Dostoyevsky's works in Penguin and Oxford which include detailed intros. I also have his Writer's Diary in the modern translation which includes a nearly 100 pg essay on Dostoyevsky.

I use a more simple ref style than you do (see George Crabbe my recent project), so you might have to adjust them or give me a short tutorial or links to your method. INeverCry 02:27, 17 May 2012 (UTC)

Just use your style and I will convert it :)--GoPTCN 16:03, 17 May 2012 (UTC)

Dostoyevsky

I've finished copy-editing Dostoyevsky's bio. There are a few issues with the final paragraph in "last years":

It was thought that this investigation might have been jointly responsible for his pulmonary hemorrhage on 26 January 1881. However, Anna denied this claim, stating that the hematorrhea occurred after Dostoyevsky had searched for a dropped pen holder, and an even stronger hematorrhea occurred after he had asked for his residual fee for his novel.

When his health became more steady, Dostoyevsky had a second rush of blood.

How many hemorrhages did he have? The number is unclear. The first sentence sounds like there was one. The next seems to describe 2. The "rush of blood" seems to be a third? Also, the detail about asking for a fee is confusing: who did he ask? Did he ask someone vocally or did he write a letter?

According to a Russian custom his body was embedded on a table.

Embedded isn't the right word. Was his body simply placed or put on a table? INeverCry 19:04, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

Thanks. It is not clear how many he had; his wife stated there was an additional one between the two, but most sources state he had only 2. Replaced with "placed". Thanks for your comments! Regards.--GoPTCN 11:06, 3 June 2012 (UTC)

I was delighted to see that you translated my article into English and that it is on a good way to a good article. If you need any help with the references (or anything else), just ask me on my German talk page. Best regards, Toter Alter Mann (talk) 10:43, 9 June 2012 (UTC)

The Concert GA

Shoot! I hadn't watchlisted it, so totally forgot I took that. As is my habit, I take a bunch of GANs when I have some spare time and motivation, and work through them. I usually take too many and struggle, but this time not only did I take too many, but also I became real busy in real life when we had to take in a friend and her daughter. I still have three left to do, even without this one, so I may just drop it back in the pool with my apologies for the inconvenience and time wasting - but before I do I will take a look to see if it can be passed quickly. SilkTork ✔Tea time 11:48, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

I hadn't finished copyediting it. I'll wait until after the review.--Wehwalt (talk) 12:29, 6 June 2012 (UTC)
Decent article - just the sort that passes GA easily. No problems with the prose for GA purposes, but copyediting to improve is always welcome! I have quibbles about the images, the lead, and the detail in the background information. On hold to allow those quibbles to be addressed. Nice work! SilkTork ✔Tea time 12:39, 6 June 2012 (UTC)
I'll take a look. I'm sure GOP will want to advance the article further so I'll keep plugging away at the prose. And if you are doing a bunch of GA, could you consider Nickel (United States coin)?--Wehwalt (talk) 13:10, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

Good work. Well done. If only all GA reviews were as easy! SilkTork ✔Tea time 12:39, 13 June 2012 (UTC)

Thanks again! :)--GoPTCN 12:40, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
I'll keep plugging at it on the assumption you want to FAC it at some point. Also, I owe you a copyedit on Dostoyevsky, but haven't found time for it yet.--Wehwalt (talk) 12:52, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
Thanks. Dostoyevsky is currently on peer review and User:INeverCry promised to finish the copyediting. I think it meets the criteria but I think the Ross performance is a bit off-topic... --GoPTCN 13:11, 13 June 2012 (UTC)

FLC

Hi GoP. The list you linked to on my talk clearly has no real support yet, and is probably closer to being archived than promoted. With that in mind, if you want to start another FLC I don't believe there's much you can do other than withdraw the Miles Davis FLC. If that had a couple of supports I'd be inclined to say you could put a second one up, but that isn't the case. Sorry I can't be the bearer of better news. I forgot to thank you for the get-well message you left me a little while back. I put it on my user page today. I hope you don't mind my substituting a cup of tea for the beer, as I'm a teetotaler. Request

As you do a lot of music-related lists, could you look at Chrisye discography and give me feedback on what to improve? He was never internationally famous like most people whom we have featured discographies of, but I plan on going to FL. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 05:27, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

  • Thanks for taking a look. He notes that it was poor in his biography (as seen from the lede, in a bit more colourful terms) but I guess a note in the lede is enough. Good point about linking, CC and LP. Thanks! — Crisco 1492 (talk) 09:18, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

Again a request which I posted on WP:HD as an IP, this time for another article: can you convert the bare url refs into proper cite templates. And would it be possible to add an infobox there. extra999 (talk) 09:35, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

Done the first. The most relevant template would be perhaps {{Infobox Online music service}}. Regards.--GoPTCN 09:54, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
