Jackson family articles

[edit]

Hi, Keshavv1234, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your edits to all of the articles about the Jackson family. Unfortunately, I had to undo your changes to the Jackson sibling articles as they all suffered from a number of problems, chief of which were lack of sourcing, and secondly from an WP:UNDUE focus on Michael Jackson in the WP:LEADSENTENCE of articles that are not the MJ article, but about his siblings. Articles about living persons have particularly strict requirements for sourcing, and it's important to understand what sourcing means here.

On the one hand, thanks very much for your extended edit summaries accompanying your edits, which are very helpful in communicating with other editors about your changes; please keep it up! However, some terms you used in the edit summaries, such as "Updated source", or, "Reference provided", perhaps don't mean what you think they do, because when I checked those edits, there was no source or reference provided. I think you misunderstand what is meant by providing a source at Wikipedia: a source must be a citation to an WP:INDEPENDENT, WP:SECONDARY, WP:Reliable source. In particular, mentioning another Wikipedia article in an edit summary as a "source", as you did several times, or linking to another Wikipedia article in an article and assuming that means that it is now sourced (which you have not done, afaik) is not valid sourcing, because Wikipedia is not a reliable source of information. Please see Wikipedia's policy of WP:Verifiability regarding sourcing assertions of fact at Wikipedia.

If you have any questions about any of this, please feel free to contact me at my Talk page. You can also ask questions about editing at the WP:Help desk. And once again, thank you for your contributions at Wikipedia! Mathglot (talk) 18:01, 23 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your suggestions. Will look forward to continue my effort in making wiki better. Keshavv1234 (talk) 16:37, 6 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please read. Wikipedia:WikiProject Indian cities

Wikipedia:WikiProject Cities/Settlements: Article structure Venkat TL (talk) 17:47, 7 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hlo, to be specific here may I know what exactly you are suggesting me about. I just provided all relevant information at Karnal. It may be cross-checked. Also I'm trying to create a new article of Municipal Corporation of Karnal (government body of the city) just like other municipal corporations articles. If you have any suggestions please pass on. Keshavv1234 (talk) 17:52, 7 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I shared it to give you suggestions on how to improve the page by adding relevant sections instead of adding worthless unencyclopedic information, that will be removed by other editors. Also read WP:RS. Dont add links that are not from reliable source. See WP:NOTPROMO Venkat TL (talk) 08:54, 8 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Regarding the Municipal org, I have already commented and pinged you. I hope you got the notification. Please read what the reviewers have said while rejecting your submission. They have given good links in blue link. If you read them you will understand what is missing. In short if there are no reliable source covering it in depth, it means media is not interested in covering it and that means Wikipedia should not be covering it in a separate article. Whatever basic information you want to add add it in Karnal#Administration section. Venkat TL (talk) 08:58, 8 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Prince Michael Jackson Jr.image.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Vladlen Manilov / 17:44, 15 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I have checked all of my files and now I only use images that I capture myself on my phone Or camera. Thanks for suggesting me about copyright rules. Initially I wasn't aware about that but since that mistake I have kept the rule in my mind. Thanks again. And may you or anyone else tell me that why the article of Prince Jackson (Michael Jackson's son) should not be made.? Keshavv1234 (talk) 14:26, 26 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Prince Michael Jackson Jr.image.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement of https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/tv/news/michael-jackson-s-teenage-son-prince-makes-acting-debut-on-tv-show-90210-8511995.html?amp. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Whpq (talk) 18:29, 15 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Pls accept my apologies for this. As this was my first time uploading an image at wiki. I was unaware about these strict copyrights. From now I would not upload an image or if in case have to then will only take the image from YouTube (CC) or use any other free images to use. I have no regrets in the deletion of this. However, I request you to get the another image of Prince Jackson uploaded as soon as possible. Keshavv1234 (talk) 18:34, 15 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Only a freely licensed image would be acceptable, and to be honest, I have no intention of looking for one. If you really want an image for the article, you will need to find one yourself or you can ask at Wikipedia:Requested pictures if you can't find one. -- Whpq (talk) 18:37, 15 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your suggestions. Can we take a screenshot of the figure officially from his Instagram or another social media account and then upload it here? Then I think there would be no copyright violations. Pls correct me if I am wrong and do tell me about YouTube CC license. Keshavv1234 (talk) 18:43, 15 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Images are copyrighted by default. That includes instagram or other social media. Taking a screenshot and uploading it would be a copyright violation. Some (but not all) Youtube content may be released under a Creative Commons license compatible with use on Wikipedia. The video must have this explicitly declared in the video description which should include a license statement "Creative Commons Attribution licence (reuse allowed)". Copyright can get very tricky. You can always ask for help at Media Copyright Questions. -- Whpq (talk) 19:27, 15 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I noticed that you may have recently made edits to Durga while logged out. Wikipedia's policy on multiple accounts usually does not allow the use of both an account and an IP address by the same person in the same setting and doing so may result in your account being blocked from editing. Additionally, making edits while logged out reveals your IP address, which may allow others to determine your location and identity. If this was not your intention, please remember to log in when editing. I see that you have edited logged out to evade scrutiny of your edits. This is not acceptable. Thanks. Your draft article, Draft:Pratap Public School

[edit]

Hello, Keshavv1234. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Pratap Public School".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. If you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Vaishno Devi Temple and Parvati

[edit]

Hi, thanks for all your work on Vaishno Devi Temple and Parvati. I made some minor copyedits to make the prose flow more cleanly, and in a style more familiar to English-speakers. You reverted those changes, without any explanation. Please don't do that again. Thanks. Miles RaleighWood (talk) 19:13, 3 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I've gone on to correct a couple of more minor style oddities, like the fact that the author does not need to be ID'd as an author more than once. Overall the article is in a vastly improved state and you have done a lot of good work. Miles RaleighWood (talk) 11:33, 5 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Shivaji

[edit]

Hi, I have reverted your additions on Shivaji. First thing, the sources, you added, are not reliable. Second, the content you added doesn't fit for lead. Lead is summary of the article. You should write it in article body. Most important, you need reliable source, possibly a book by a scholar or historian or published by a reputed publication and not a blog or website. Akshaypatill (talk) 05:24, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for your help. I have added the information in the body now. Also I have added a reference published by Times of India. If this isn't still reliable, then I would like you to weigh on this topic and help me with adding more reliable sources like scholars, etc. I think Times of India would be reliable enough. If it's not then I request you add it if possible. As the information updated by me is 100℅ authentic and same is written on other affiliated wiki articles such as Bhavani and Tulja Bhavani. Thanks! Keshavv1234 (talk) 09:05, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have written a good proportion of the article, and I doubt if there exist reliable sources to back what you have been trying to add, at least I am ain't aware of scholarly sources that mention these things. A book published by scholar or by a reputed publication is much better when it comes to history. Also important pages like this are watched by a lot many page-watchers as compared to pages like the deities you mentioned, so a reliable, reputed source is a must if you want to add this. Akshaypatill (talk) 16:05, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I will try finding reliable sources and will add the complete information when it's proper accompanied by sources. Thanks again for your help. Keshavv1234 (talk) 07:43, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I request you to kindly refer to this source. If it's reliable or not to support my info. https://sahyadribooks.com/shri-tuljabhavani/ Keshavv1234 (talk) 07:45, 23 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hi Keshavv1234! I noticed that you have reverted to restore your preferred version of Shivaji several times. The impulse to undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure you're aware that the edit warring policy disallows repeated reversions even if they are justifiable.

All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages to try to reach consensus. If you are unable to agree at Talk:Shivaji, please use one of the dispute resolution options to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of reverting can help you avoid getting drawn into an edit war. I request you to take a look at WP:HISTRS as well for classification of reliable sources in historical articles, Times of India doesn't fit into that category. Thanks.. Respected, I haven't added any misleading information to the article Durga. But instead, editor Mili977 is removing all general information from the article without stating any reason. That editor is just going as per his own beliefs and has removed major information which now results in the poor sentence and grammatical structure at the article. I was just reverting his misleading edits. You may have a look. The recent removal of content done by that editor should be reverted/undo soon because the article is now lacking all general info and also has unstructured sentences which all is done by the above stated user. Therefore, sanctions must be imposed on this editor instead of me. As I was only protecting the general information of that article which he continously tries to remove due to his personal believes.

Notice of Arbitration Enforcement noticeboard discussion

[edit]

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a report involving you at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Enforcement regarding a possible violation of an Arbitration Committee decision. The thread is Durga. Thank you.

Notice that you are now subject to an arbitration enforcement sanction

[edit]

The following sanction now applies to you:

You are topic banned from the subjects of India, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, broadly construed.

You have been sanctioned for the reasons provided in response to this arbitration enforcement request.

This sanction is imposed in my capacity as an uninvolved administrator under the authority of the Arbitration Committee's decision at Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/India-Pakistan#Final decision and, if applicable, the procedure described at Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee/Discretionary sanctions. This sanction has been recorded in the log of sanctions. If the sanction includes a ban, please read the banning policy to ensure you understand what this means. If you do not comply with this sanction, you may be blocked for an extended period, by way of enforcement of this sanction—and you may also be made subject to further sanctions.

You may appeal this sanction using the process described here. I recommend that you use the arbitration enforcement appeals template if you wish to submit an appeal to the arbitration enforcement noticeboard. You may also appeal directly to me (on my talk page), before or instead of appealing to the noticeboard. Even if you appeal this sanction, you remain bound by it until you are notified by an uninvolved administrator that the appeal has been successful. You are also free to contact me on my talk page if anything of the above is unclear to you. Seraphimblade Talk to me 11:52, 2 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Special:Diff/1101929254 is exactly what you are not supposed to do now that a formal topic ban has been issued. Please refrain from any further edits in the topic areas above. Slywriter (talk) 17:22, 2 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

August 2022

[edit]
To enforce an arbitration decision, you have been blocked from editing for a period of 1 week. You are welcome to edit once the block expires; however, please note that the repetition of similar behavior may result in a longer block or other sanctions.

If you believe this block is unjustified, please read the guide to appealing blocks (specifically this section) before appealing. Place the following on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Please copy my appeal to the [[WP:AE|arbitration enforcement noticeboard]] or [[WP:AN|administrators' noticeboard]]. Your reason here OR place the reason below this template. ~~~~}}. If you intend to appeal on the arbitration enforcement noticeboard, I suggest you use the arbitration enforcement appeals template on your talk page so it can be copied over easily. You may also appeal directly to me (by email), before or instead of appealing on your talk page.

Seraphimblade Talk to me 19:29, 4 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Reminder to administrators: In May 2014, ArbCom adopted the following procedure instructing administrators regarding Arbitration Enforcement blocks: "No administrator may modify a sanction placed by another administrator without: (1) the explicit prior affirmative consent of the enforcing administrator; or (2) prior affirmative agreement for the modification at (a) AE or (b) AN or (c) ARCA (see "Important notes" [in the procedure]). Administrators modifying sanctions out of process may at the discretion of the committee be desysopped."

Your recent edits have all been violations of the above topic ban. I strongly suggest that you use the time while blocked to review above what that ban prohibits. If you have any questions, you may leave them here (I'll have the page on watch), and you are also welcome to ping me. Further violations of the topic ban are likely to lead to much more lengthy blocks, or an indefinite one. Seraphimblade Talk to me 19:31, 4 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Respected, the info I removed from the Durga article which was added by a new user was totally misleading, irrelevant, unstructured and was especially accompanied with no reliable source at all. So that's why I just reverted that. As per wiki policy. I'm just trying to maintain the originality of the article and still I'm blocked even after so much of hardwork I did to many articles all over wikipedia. This isn't fair.

If I did anything wrong than kindly explain me. That new user added so much dead and fraud sources to the article and still you let them remain at the article. The current version of Durga article also need correction as word 'Dakshina Kali' written next to Mahadevi in the main body has no role to remain there and also no source discuss anything about that.

You may not edit that article, or others within the scope of the topic ban, at all. Period. It does not matter how right you think you are, or even how right you actually are. You may not edit it while you are subject to the ban. Seraphimblade Talk to me 11:02, 5 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I request if possible to provide me the reason of my profile being banned. Or what is 'topic ban'? Is it different? I am not aware of myself being topic banned. And couldn't I edit wikipedia anymore? And when can I start editing. May you please quote the date. Reply to Seraphimblade by Keshavv1234 (talk) 17:02, 5 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Keshavv1234 you need to patiently read every word of the last 4 thread topics on this page to find your answers. There are blue links that you can click to find more details. for example, Wikipedia:Blocking policy and Wikipedia:Banning policy#Topic ban Venkat TL (talk) 17:23, 5 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Basically, what Venkat TL said. The section right above this one is where I notified you that you are subject to the topic ban. For information on what exactly that means, you should read the page on that, but in short—you may not make any edits, including participating in discussions, on any subject which could be reasonably considered to relate to India, Pakistan, and/or Afghanistan, anywhere on Wikipedia. That restriction is indefinite, but "indefinite" need not mean "permanent". If you can show that you can contribute positively and constructively in other areas you are not topic banned from, and especially in your case can avoid edit warring while doing so, it is quite possible that after six months to a year of positive contributions, you could successfully request to have the ban lifted. (The appeal process for doing that is also linked to in the messages above; you should also read that.) Seraphimblade Talk to me 23:36, 5 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked indefinitely

[edit]

As you have used the account Jagdishss123TT to both evade your block and violate your topic ban, I have extended your block to indefinite. For clarity, this is a normal admin action and not under AE, so you may appeal the block using the normal procedure that you may find at the guide to appealing blocks.
