Can't decide if this is still an edit war
Regarding Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring#User:Film Fan and User:Serijvip reported by User:Lugnuts (Result: ). Do you think this is still an edit war? The two sides seem unrepentant, but neither of them is still reverting (since Jan. 2). None of the listed diffs are from Jan. 3. Thanks for any opinion, EdJohnston (talk) 01:14, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
- (talk page watcher) Please pardon the intrusion Lugnuts. EdJohnston I was placing a question at that 3rr report about the same time that you were posting this. As blocks are not punitive the edit war may well be over so your question is a fair one. OTOH I am wondering whether it might be time for a 1rr for either or both editors. I have seen Film Fan return to this behavior again and again. It would be great if edit warring wan't their default MO. Thanks to you both for your time. MarnetteD|Talk 01:36, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
@EdJohnston: and @MarnetteD: - Thanks for your comments. Maybe a voluntary 1RR would be a good idea. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 08:05, 4 January 2016 (UTC)

Improper insertion of info on Japan page
As an experienced editor you should know better then this edit [3]. You reinserted information that is over 1 month out of date, lacking the updates found on the Asia page. If it had been updated, it would be an exact redundant replica of the Asia page. Further, you reinserted with no reason and a warning to me after counting my reverts - essentially thumbing your nose at me. You failed to discuss the issue on the talk page (something I have done). I suggest you revert yourself and discuss your concerns first. Convince me there is a reason for your edit please.

Three Men Who Used the Name Harry Lorraine
You're conflating three people - two actors named Harry Lorraine, one American and the other English - and third man who also used the name Harry Lorraine and was a theater booking agent. The birth information and categories are for the English man, the death is for the booking agent, and the filmography is for the American one. (See http://www.felbridge.org.uk/index.php/publications/harry-lorraine/ and http://query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=9F01E7D6153FE53ABC4A51DFBE66838F629EDE.) Not a problem, and not a rush - these three are mixed together with similar single biography all over the Internet. I was updating the page for Bayside Cemetery (Queens and looking for notable people buried there when I found Harry Wolff aka Harry Lorraine's obituary and realized that there was more than one. I made pages for Harry Lorraine (English actor) and Harry Wolff (American booking agent), though I need more references and have to make other improvements. please use cricketarchive plus cricinfo
Hello. I see you have continued your hard work in adding articles for more Tasmanian cricketers. Cricinfo is an important source, but I didn't realise how many name errors it shows. For some reason players of decades ago have had their first given name listed as their "common" name. For example, Arthur Burrows ! He was known during his life as Owen Burrows as per this http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/30109064 and also this http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/188819601. Here is his Cricketarchive page with correct name shown http://cricketarchive.com/Archive/Players/2/2429/2429.html . Please check the cricketarchive.com pages for each player you do from now on and add that site as a second source to each article. Edward Butler (b 1883) should have remained as Leo Butler as per here http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/1043749 . I'd be happy to help locate contemporary press articles if you want clarification on any names. RossRSmith (talk) 21:11, 24 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi there, I've done some work on this film article and after screening the film numerous times, I've found some problems with the information that was originally in the article. First of all, it appears to be a United Nations Film Board work, and was shot AFAIK, entirely in the United States at a summer camp in New York State, not India. The doctor in charge of medical care was likely from India but that is the only connection I can make to India. Please check over the article to see if I am right. AWB
There's a system bug by which after a page move, such as the one that happened on December 20 if you check the edit history, a page gets mistakenly picked up by the Uncategorized Pages tool even if it is properly categorized. I don't know why it happens, but it does, and once it has happened there's no other way to make the page drop back off the list until somebody edits it again. So sometimes I do have to apply an edit that looks "inconsequential" if you don't know why I'm actually doing it — but it's actually not inconsequential, because if I hit a piece of system-bug kludge when I'm running an uncategorized pages batch I have to get that page off the list. I cannot just let it sit there as a permanent speed bump that will still be sitting there the next time I run a batch, and the time after that and the next time after that too — if it hits my list, I have to do whatever is necessary to clear it off. Bearcat (talk) 08:33, 27 January 2016 (UTC)
- No worries. I should clarify as well that what I'm actually trying to do, and hoping for, when I hit such a page is the ability to just null-edit it, by hitting save without actually applying any changes at all — weirdly, that does actually work as a way to get the page cleared back off the uncats list (and since it doesn't register in the edit history, I don't have to worry about people coming back to question me about it afterward.) So I'm not going around purposely inserting or removing spaces from articles as a thing that I've actively coded for, trust me — but as I'm sure you know, AWB also adds its own automated cleanup edits to pages in addition to the edits that the user is actively applying on purpose, and the only way I can turn that off entirely is to make AWB completely skip a page where it's only applying genfixes. But the skip just leaves it still on the list — so if AWB has applied its own minor style fixes to a page I'm actually trying to null, I end up having to hit save anyway, even if it's an edit I'd actually rather not have to attach to my name because it looks inconsequential. Ideally, what I'd like to see is for the bug to get fixed so that those pages actually don't clutter up the uncats list at all anymore — but I've filed bugfix requests on it several times in the past, and they've still never been resolved. (And then, for added bonus, there's also an even more complicated system bug by which very occasionally even editing the article still fails to drop the page off the list, and instead I have to do a full-on "temporarily delete the page entirely and then restore it".) Ah, the Age of Technology! Bearcat (talk) 18:33, 27 January 2016 (UTC)

Thank you for the award, but I'm not clean: doping with beer :) It's pretty calm this week with only the Tour of Qatar. Interesting that the leader's jersey can still change hands tomorrow, even if nobody's dropped/crashes. The possibilities are: 1) Greg Van Avermaet can win the overall classification of the Tour of Qatar tomorrow IF he finishes before Cav AND is in the top-3 of the stage ( to get bonus seconds). He currently is only 2 seconds down, but beat Cav today! 2) Even Kristoff could win the overall IF he wins the stage and Cav and GVA are not top 3. 3) Cav wins it by being in front of the latter 2, which is very likely lol. Policy discussion in progress
There is a policy discussion in progress at the Manual of Style which affects the capitalization of People Like Us, a question in which you previously participated. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. — LlywelynII 12:25, 12 February 2016 (UTC)
You or Erik agree with the splitting of this category by decade? I don't, and whoever did it has stopped at letter P and made it grossly unbalanced. Far more convenient to have them as A-Z in one category, it's not too large, like the psychological horror ones, much better in one. I would support a List of psychological thriller films in year order, and then one A-Z category to cover both. I don't want to have to look through all those subcategories. I would normally ask Ser Amantio to recategorize them but knowing him he'd be in favour of by decade. Do you know another AWBer who can move them back if you agree with me?♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:25, 12 February 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Dr B. On this one, I agree with the decade sub-cats. Sorry! Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 19:46, 12 February 2016 (UTC)
- 1970s thriller films is OK but we really don't have so many articles on Psychological thrillers to split it. It's more inconvenient having to sift through all those subcategories than viewing them all in one list to me.♦ Dr. Blofeld 21:47, 12 February 2016 (UTC)

Blue is the Warmest Colour...
I am still unsure why you are reverting my edits on the lead of Blue is the Warmest Colour. You state the issue is with Verifiability, yet all of the statements I wrote in that lead are supported by references and backed up with citations to note-worthy newspapers or news websites. I don't see why you would have an issue with credibility with the New York Times. For a weighty movie, two paragraphs in the lead is simply not enough, particularly given the controversy that surrounded the film upon its release. Ashton 29 (talk) 02:02, 13 February 2016 (UTC)
- If you have no issues with the content, I'll add it back and make sure I am logged in. Nobody has chimed in on the article's talk page, so I don't think there should be any issues. Ashton 29 (talk) 10:17, 14 February 2016 (UTC)

I'm so confused
Hey Lugznuts. I'm confused about your revert of my edit on Osvaldo Miranda (fencer). For an edit summary, you put "per template instructions - "Do not use this template unless you plan to completely and permanently stop editing". Honestly, that confused me all the more, as I have no idea what you mean by "...unless you plan to completely and permanently stop editing.". Can I ask for a little clarification as to what you meant by this? Thanks. Boomer VialHolla 04:35, 14 February 2016 (UTC)
- Sorry @Boomer Vial: - I picked the wrong edit summary. It should have been "per template instructions - "Do not use this template on stub articles". Thanks. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 08:44, 14 February 2016 (UTC)
- Oh, ok. That makes a lot more sense. Thanks! :) Boomer VialHolla 08:49, 14 February 2016 (UTC)

Creating Wikipedia pages
Hi Lugnuts, I know you create loads of great Wikipedia pages, so you might like this. Over the last months I created loads of articles with the help of Excel. I got better and better with it. As some people on Wikipedia showed their interest how I do it, I start writing it down. I don't know how you create your articles, but maybe it might help you as well :). See User:Sander.v.Ginkel/Creating Wikipedia pages with Excel. Sander.v.Ginkel (Talk) 11:57, 17 February 2016 (UTC)
- Nice one! I'm a proud Excel nerd and use it from time to time to construct the bare-bones of my Wiki building. There's a raft of functions under the Text parameters (right, mid, concat, etc) that have been more than useful in the past. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 12:05, 17 February 2016 (UTC)
- And don't forget the PROPER function ;). But what I most like is that you can have another article with only chaning 1 number; if you have 1 data-tab, and one framework-tab, using the OFFSET function! Sander.v.Ginkel (Talk) 13:51, 17 February 2016 (UTC)
- And another thing (maybe you are already using it), this page converts table information from a PDF document to Excel :). Great for sport results! Sander.v.Ginkel (Talk) 13:55, 17 February 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks! I have a spreadsheet that I've built over the years, initially for help with formatting filmography pages, but has now expanded to 20+ sheets for various different things. I'll check out the PDF tool too. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 14:08, 17 February 2016 (UTC)

Great stuff
Your posts here Wikipedia:Reference desk/Entertainment#Artists that stick to .28pretty much.29 the same BPM for an entire album are delightful. The second one reminded me of a scene in WKRP in Cincinnati - though the memory banks are dusty so it might have been in FM (film) - where the DJ comes running into the booth after the record had stopped playing several seconds before and says "That is a track from the album 'Marcel Marceau's Greatest Hits' we hope you enjoyed it. Disruptive editing
Your actions on Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Requests for closure and Wikipedia talk:Administrators' noticeboard are becoming disruptive and you are now edit warring on the former. It's time to accept that consensus is against you. If you want people to help out with something, a polite request will go much further than snark and attacks. Difference between "Match abandoned" and "No result" in cricket
Hello Lugnuts, I noticed you reverted edits about the 3rd T20I result at South African cricket team in India in 2015–16 page. Looking at the practical point of view, I must say that an abandoned match is the same as a no result. However, from a statistic point of view there is a difference between a No result and Abandoned.
As the scorecards from CSA (click on "results", only the 1st and 2nd T20I matches are listed), BCCI, Cricinfo, Cricket Archive and ICC show, no toss took place and the match was abandoned which means statistically it never happened, players and teams involved didn't add this match into their stats (as the CSA site shows). On the other hand, a "No result" is valid for statistics purposes. Keeping in mind there are a number of wikipedia pages showing cricket statistics that could be linked to this one, the match result should remain as "Match abandoned" to avoid creating a conflict of info. In case you have reliable sources disproving that, feel free to mention and change the result.
Thanks and regards, 94.210.159.131 (talk) 20:43, 8 March 2016 (UTC)

Umpire Pages

While mentioning the venues in the umpiring statistics section, should it be mentioned as it is in ESPNcricinfo... Like Erasmus' 1st ODI was at Nairobi Gymkhana which ESPNcricinfo mentions Nairobi (Gym)... So how should I keep it in the page - Nairobi or Nairobi (Gym)? Plz help... Cricket246 (talk) 13:26, 12 March 2016 (UTC)
I checked it again... It should be Nairobi (Gym)... There are 4 international cricket stadia in Nairobi so its necessary to specify... Nairobi (Gym) is alright... Thanks... Cricket246 (talk) 13:32, 12 March 2016 (UTC)
We need to edit the pages of the other umpires as well based on this logic... I edited some earlier in order to ensure uniformity... Also, some umpires' page lack an umpiring statistics section which needs to be added... Can you plz help me out in getting conversant with the various procedures? That way, I'll be able to contribute myself rather than nagging after others all the time for improvements... Do reply in 'my talk page' plz... Thanks... Cricket246 (talk) 13:40, 12 March 2016 (UTC)

Home Care Film
Hello Lugnuts, sir, I see you erased our contribution to a Home Care Film page which was based on official Academy Awards press kit.
I see the director himself made his unfortunate contribution which is against the rules but in the end he had the most relevant info. I see you did your part form imdb but as it is common with all Czech film the distribution companies usually don't care what they put on imdb.
Me and my wife Tereza Srbova tried to put some relevant content to the page and help the film to be selected by the academy to compete for the Oscars. This was our first contribution on the Wikipedia and I'm very sad to see it gone after all that energy to get some official info from distribution company.
Even with no Academy Awards competition film is still travelling through the world over festivals and winning awards and I think many of the future viewers would like to read relevant and correct content.
As long as you are creator of the page itself and the page still contents mistakes and irrelevant actors in the cast section and no actual content about the film I have a question how can me and my wife help you to put the right information about the film as long as it touched our hearts and it is a shame to see Jan Gogol sr. first on the cast list as he was the Dramaturgist of the film and had a minor appearance and Alena Mihulová, brilliant actress with awards for her part in this film to be somewhere in the middle.
Please let us know how should we proceed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thadone (talk • contribs) 16:28, 20 March 2016 (UTC)

Edits on John Pritchett request
Hello,
I am attempting to add the full filmography as well as some biological information to the John Pritchett account, in partnership with another editor. We see that some of the cited information we have posted has been accepted, and that is great, but some other information on his personal life which was cited was for some reason removed, and the full filmography that was sourced from IMDB was also removed - that one is understandable, as the citation we attempted to put up for it did not go through. We are wondering if the cited information may be put back on the page, as well as the filmography provided that we can get a proper citation working for it. We are also happy to change formatting, use internal links only, or whatever else is necessary. Thank you for creating this page and please let us know as soon as possible. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SarahCPritchett (talk • contribs) 12:40, 29 March 2016 (UTC)
