Certification for Fantastic Baby

Hi there. Just letting you know that I don't doubt there is a double platinum certification for this song, but usually specifying the top page for all certifications is not enough, you need to specify the year and month for verifiability. I don't read Japanese so I apologize if the certification can somehow be deduced from the top page itself. --Muhandes (talk) 09:57, 8 January 2021 (UTC)

Yes, I am aware; thanks for reaching out. I was actually planning to take a deep dive into fixing and replacing all the sources soon. ɴᴋᴏɴ21 ❯❯❯ talk 21:19, 8 January 2021 (UTC)
Good to know. You can use {{certification Table Entry}} to easily specify the source, like I did here. It is not mandatory, but if you don't, the table will not match the footnotes at {{certification Table Bottom}}, which may cause a bot to "fix" it. --Muhandes (talk) 16:52, 9 January 2021 (UTC)

It is nice to see you have undertaken your first proper GA review after having promoted two articles to GA-status recently; I was considering that article myself but it is fine since I found other ones to review instead, hope your progress goes well! --K. Peake 17:41, 11 January 2021 (UTC)

DYK for I Am the Best

On 14 January 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article I Am the Best, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. Long-term abuse

Hey Nkon! It’s Doggy54321 here. I was looking at User:Nkon21/sandbox3, and I couldn’t help but notice that this has been going on since September 2020. I was wondering if you are considering filing a report at WP:LTA, as it’s certainly been long and abusive.

In related news, 124.148.232.171 is still active, and has been for a little under three weeks. I’m currently rollbacking all of their edits, as I believe their edits can all be classified as vandalism now, as this has been going on for four months. I would appreciate it if you shared your thoughts on this. Please ping me when you reply! Thanks! D🐶ggy54321 (let's chat!) 03:28, 17 January 2021 (UTC)

@Doggy54321: I wouldn't be opposed to that. They don't show any intent on stopping and have not responded to a single warning that was given to them, so a LTA case may be warranted. ɴᴋᴏɴ21 ❯❯❯ talk 20:19, 17 January 2021 (UTC)
Okay, cool! If this is a pressing issue to you, I’d say make the report. I’m on and on-and-off Wikibreak until Thursday/Friday, and when I come back, it will generally just be checking in on my watchlist, making sure nothing blows up, etc. I don’t think I’ll have time in my schedule to draft and publish a full LTA, as some of them are detailed as heck. If it’s not a big deal to you, I can make the report when I come back. Thanks! D🐶ggy54321 (let's chat!) 03:25, 18 January 2021 (UTC)

Why are you editorializing what yand said .

Those were his words — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nydsa12 (talkcontribs) 16:13, 23 January 2021 (UTC)

@Nydsa12: As previously explained to you, not all fascists are Neo-Nazis, which is even explicitly stated in the source: "We need to do a better job at guarding against all hate crimes, including antisemitic ones [...] But not all hate crimes are committed by organized neo-Nazis." Your edit is factually inaccurate and will not be kept. ɴᴋᴏɴ21 ❯❯❯ talk 16:51, 23 January 2021 (UTC)

These are yangs words "Not only is BDS rooted in antisemitic thought and history, hearkening back to fascist boycotts of Jewish businesses, " There is only one group that had fascist boycotts of Jewish businesses which was the nazis in 1930s. You are editorializing out negative content on yang which is really sad. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.52.64.164 (talk) 17:13, 23 January 2021 (UTC)

Reverted my edit on Quantum Supremacy

Amitlevy49 (talk) 23:53, 25 January 2021 (UTC) Hi, I added a line in the summary of Quantum Supremacy stating that multiple groups have already claimed to have achieved Quantum Supremacy, information which is also available in the body of the article. Considering that the most important question about Quantum Supremacy is "has it been achieved?", it seems important to mention it in the article summary (I am referring to the first paragraph - maybe it has another name). I personally visited the article because I wanted to know if quantum supremacy has been achieved, and at first, assumed it wasn't because the summary didn't mention it.

I'd like to ask why you reverted my edit? Do you disagree with my reasoning?

Okay, if it's sourced in the body of the article, it should be fine. Best, ɴᴋᴏɴ21 ❯❯❯ talk 23:57, 25 January 2021 (UTC)

Orange man bad

"Orange man bad", a phrase used by supporters of Donald Trump to mock criticism of the former president

"to mock criticism of the former president"- This implies that any/all criticism of the former president is met with "Orange man bad". No. Valid criticism is valid criticism, and is not shut down. The phrase is reserved for completely nonsensical criticism, eg. "Trump made a typo in latest tweet, impeach" You have the gall to say my edit was biased, it is the definition of unbiased, simpleton.

BTS awards+noms edit you made

Hi, I just wanted to ask about this edit you made earlier. Were you acting based on a particular guideline from a related MOS, a previously-determined consensus about listicles somewhere, or just the fact that the FLs you mentioned don't use the color templates like we did? Because if it's the last one, that's not actually a valid reason to remove it, as there's nothing wrong with using them the way we did. All FLs don't have to be styled in the exact same way, so just because other pages don't use them for their listicles tables, doesn't mean no lists at all should use them. -- Carlobunnie (talk) 14:18, 22 August 2021 (UTC)

Hi there, I removed the coloring from the listicles table in several awards pages as it seems that this function only serves as "decoration" or "eye-candy". Given that these listicles are not actual real awards, I don't think that they should be treated as such and be given the same weight with industry awards (gold for 1, silver for 2, etc., "win" coloring for every other rank). Yes, FLs don't actually police these types of stylizations, however I included that in my edit summary as it seems the use of color templates in those listicles are only found in these Kpop accolades page added by one editor a couple months back, and similar usage outside of the genre do not use any sort of coloring scheme. ɴᴋᴏɴ21 ❯❯❯ talk 21:15, 22 August 2021 (UTC)
@Nkon21: our use of the coloring was added in connection w the revamp we did of the page back in 2019 for its submission as an FLC+subsequent approval. It's usage was not cited as inappropriate or purely decorative by reviewers at any point. I also asked about it, and was told that the only prohibition WP has is if the coloring is being used as the only way to present the information (which it was noted it's not) or if there's a local guidance on stylization of listicles that says it shouldn't be used. I cannot speak as to the reason why whoever went around adding it to other articles recently did so, but I'm going to restore it to the BTS one. If a consensus determines in future that no such coloring should be used, I won't question the removal then. -- Carlobunnie (talk) 01:14, 23 August 2021 (UTC)

New Page Patrol newsletter September 2021

New Page Review queue September 2021

Hello Nkon21,

Please join this discussion - there is increase in the abuse of Wikipedia and its processes by POV pushers, Paid Editors, and by holders of various user rights including Autopatrolled. Even our review systems themselves at AfC and NPR have been infiltrated. The good news is that detection is improving, but the downside is that it creates the need for a huge clean up - which of course adds to backlogs.

Copyright violations are also a serious issue. Most non-regular contributors do not understand why, and most of our Reviewers are not experts on copyright law - and can't be expected to be, but there is excellent, easy-to-follow advice on COPYVIO detection here.

At the time of the last newsletter (#25, December 2020) the backlog was only just over 2,000 articles. New Page Review is an official system. It's the only firewall against the inclusion of new, improper pages.

There are currently 706 New Page Reviewers plus a further 1,080 admins, but as much as nearly 90% of the patrolling is still being done by around only the 20 or so most regular patrollers.

If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process or its software.

Various awards are due to be allocated by the end of the year and barnstars are overdue. If you would like to manage this, please let us know. Indeed, if you are interested in coordinating NPR, it does not involve much time and the tasks are described here.

DYK for It's Hyorish

On 21 November 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article It's Hyorish, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the release of Lee Hyori's album It's Hyorish had to be moved forward after several tracks were illegally leaked? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/It's Hyorish. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, It's Hyorish), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Okay, I clicked on the article with glee after seeing it on the front page while casually lurking through this website. As an amateur K-pop historian, wow, that give me major ecstasy! Thank you, thank you, thank you so much for the expansion! The time you put to editing this really has paid off, you definitely have gotten my support. One idea I have could be giving the lead single "U-Go-Girl" a standalone article? Here are some sources to use along the way: [1]; [2]; [3]beetricks ~ 💬 · ✉️ 11:57, 21 November 2021 (UTC)

@Beetricks Hey, thank you for your message—it's great to see that the articles I expand get attention. Regarding a standalone article for U-Go-Girl, my schedule is actually kind of tight going into Thanksgiving week, therefore I might not get a chance to create any new articles for another another week or so. But you can definitely start the article if you can and I'll help when I get the chance. ɴᴋᴏɴ21 ❯❯❯ talk 19:44, 21 November 2021 (UTC)
