Hello, I'm Boing! said Zebedee. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Bhati, but you didn't provide a reliable source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 13:28, 3 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add or change content without verifying it by citing reliable sources, as you did to Bhati. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 13:38, 3 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Really, you must not add material to Wikipedia articles without providing reliable sources to support it - please see WP:RS for what constitutes a reliable source, and WP:CITE to learn about how to cite them. You may be right, but without sources people can add all sorts of personal judgments, and caste/tribe articles are fraught with controversy - even if you are correct about what you are writing, other people may not be, and so we simply cannot accept unsupported assertions. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 13:42, 3 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Discretionary sanctions

[edit]

You also need to be aware that there are discretionary sanctions applied to articles about castes and social groupings in India and nearby countries. The official warning is as follows...

The Wikipedia community has permitted administrators to impose discretionary sanctions on any editor who is active on any page about social groups, explicitly including caste associations and political parties, related to India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal. Discretionary sanctions can be used against an editor who repeatedly or seriously fails to adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, any expected standards of behavior, or any normal editorial process. If you engage in further inappropriate behavior in this area, you may be placed under sanctions, which can include blocks, a revert limitation, or an article ban. The discussion leading to the imposition of these sanctions can be read here.

Please familiarise yourself with the information page at Wikipedia:General sanctions.

Part of the "normal editorial process" is to provide reliable sources for any material you add to articles - and you must abide by that. I'm sure you are perfectly honorable in your intentions, but we have had many editors who have not been, and who have engaged in many caste disputes here, which is why these sanctions were developed. So, as a well-meaning editor, please be careful not to expose yourself to these sanctions. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 13:57, 3 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours for breaching the discretionary sanctions in place on caste articles, by repeatedly adding unsourced material to the article Bhati. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 13:58, 3 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please use the time you are blocked to read the policy pages you have been given links to, and to search for reliable sources for the changes you wish to make. I suggest that, once the block is lifted, you present your sources on the article talk page for others to review - and only make the changes when you can get a consensus that accepts them. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 14:01, 3 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Pk041, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of your edits to the page Rana Muhammad Akram Khan have not conformed to Wikipedia's verifiability policy, and may be removed if they have not yet been. Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations that have been stated in print or on reputable websites or other forms of media. Always remember to provide a reliable source for quotations and for any material that is likely to be challenged, or it may be removed. Wikipedia also has a related policy against including original research in articles. As well, all new biographies of living people must contain at least one reliable source.

If you are stuck and looking for help, please see the guide for citing sources or come to the new contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!  220 of Borg 20:29, 28 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Edit Summaries

[edit]

Hi there. When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:
Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. If you are adding a section, please do not just keep the previous section's header in the Edit summary field – please fill in your new section's name instead. Thank you. - 220 of Borg 20:33, 28 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm Torreslfchero. I noticed that you made a comment on the page Bhati that didn't seem very civil, so it has been removed. Wikipedia needs people like you and me to collaborate, so it’s one of our core principles to interact with one another in a polite and respectful manner. If you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Torreslfchero (talk) 09:32, 1 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

When adding links to material on external sites, as you did to Rana Muhammad Akram Khan, please ensure that the external site is not violating the creator's copyright. Linking to websites that display copyrighted works is acceptable as long as the website's operator has created or licensed the work. Knowingly directing others to a site that violates copyright may be considered contributory infringement. This is particularly relevant when linking to sites such as YouTube, where due care should be taken to avoid linking to material that violates its creator's copyright. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you believe the linked site is not violating copyright with respect to the material, then you should do one of the following:

  • If the linked site is the copyright holder, leave a message explaining the details on the article Talk page;
  • If a note on the linked site credibly claims permission to host the material, or a note on the copyright holder's site grants such permission, leave a note on the article Talk page with a link to where we can find that note;
  • If you are the copyright holder or the external site administrator, adjust the linked site to indicate permission as above and leave a note on the article Talk page;

If the material is available on a different site that satisfies one of the above conditions, link to that site instead. Please stop adding copyvio images to Wikipedia articles. You have been warned several times on Commons about your copyvio actions, to no avail. An admin report is to follow. kashmiri TALK 14:36, 14 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Final warning

[edit]

Look, you've had both standard warnings and a notice regarding the caste sanctions in the past. You've also been blocked before for your disruption. You seem not to be learning because you are making exactly the same poor contributions as previously and, worse, you are obviously editing while logged out also. Do it again and you'll find yourself looking at a long block or topic ban. - Sitush (talk) 14:24, 22 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be engaged in an edit war with one or more editors according to your reverts at Bhati. Although repeatedly reverting or undoing another editor's contributions may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, and often creates animosity between editors. Instead of edit warring, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to be blocked from editing. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. While edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, breaking the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a block. Thank you. SMS Talk 14:42, 22 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Punjabi Rajput

[edit]

Please don't make up information as you appear to have done at Punjabi Rajput. The awards stuff needs sourcing and I've no idea why you have been appending caste/clan names to those of individuals: if that is indeed a part of their name then the linked articles will probably required amendment ... with sources, of course. - Sitush (talk) 16:25, 22 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You may respond at WP:AN3#User:Pk041 reported by User:Smsarmad (Result: ) if you wish. You appear to be edit warring on topics which are covered by WP:GS/Caste. You have already been warned of those issues since you have received {{uw-castewarning}}. Unless you can provide a convincing response at the noticeboard it is likely that you will be sanctioned. Thank you, EdJohnston (talk) 19:34, 22 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Your response was completely inadequate. I have applied a block of 72 hours for continuing to edit war in caste related articles subject to discretionary sanctions. Your edits must be supported by reliable sources (see WP:RS, not facebook pages and blogs. Further, when you are reverted in contentious articles such as these, it is all the more important to cease making the controversial changes and use the article's talk page to gain consensus for your edits. Your recent editing history at Muhammad Ali Jinnah shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. Article Rana clan

[edit]

Hello. I see that you've added some material to the article, but has since blanked the article with the content that it should be speedy deleted since the title is wrong. May I suggest that you move the article to an appropriate title and then redirect the original page to the new article? If you believe that it is fit for WP:CSD instead, please nominate it with one of the appropriate criterion, although I do not believe that any fits the article. I have restored the page onto the point that I believe had the most material. If you have any questions or comments, please leave a message on my talk page. Thanks. Revert restriction per WP:GS/Caste

[edit]

Because you have continued to edit war on pages related to castes you are now subject to the following restriction for three months: <quotation>You may make only one revert in any seven day period on any page related to social groups (including castes) which are related to India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal.</quotation> If you breach this restriction you will be blocked or restricted further (which may include a topic ban). If you have any questions about this restriction please feel free to ask me. If you would like to appeal this restriction you should do so at the administrators' noticeboard. It seems you have violated your caste restriction by reverting twice, as noted in the edit warring report. The surname 'Rana' appears to be a caste association, which you previously added on 31 January 2014. There may still be time for you to respond to the complaint and promise not to do this in the future. Thank you, EdJohnston (talk) 19:05, 23 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for Disruptive editing. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}. However, you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

Per this AN3 report. Your talk page is full of warnings (since late 2012) and you've never made any kind of response to the warnings. Any further effort to persuade you to live within the rules would appear fruitless. EdJohnston (talk) 15:11, 24 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
