OFC qualifiers

I've gone over the article you mentioned (much appreciated!) and I can't make any sense of it, either.

I can say that I've been back and forth to the OFC website repeatedly for over a month for ANY information regarding the qualifiers and... nothing. Lots of futsal info, but that's about it. They probably have as much knowledge about his as we do, I'm afraid.

Also, the article almost sounds as if New Caledonia should be awarded the second OFC spot by default. Can you imagine if they got to the World Cup that way? What would that say for the credibility of the World Cup, not to mention FIFA's involvement in beach soccer? Caperspark (talk) 09:32, 6 August 2013 (UTC)

This is certainly good news, indeed! I've also made updates to the Wiki page as well as the main World Cup page to reflect the new information. Caperspark (talk) 10:21, 7 August 2013 (UTC)
Looks like we finally have some semblance of a schedule. Read into it what you will. http://roonba.atspace.co.uk/beachsoccer/men/fixtures.html Caperspark (talk) 11:54, 20 August 2013 (UTC)

CAF qualifiers

And the funny thing is that it took a bloody YouTube video! Go figure! And it, BTW, made no mention of Algeria, so somebody must have gotten some wrong information, or based it off of the last CAF qualifier. Caperspark (talk) 09:48, 21 May 2013 (UTC)

Euro Winners Cup

Whazzup? Wow, what a great CONCACAF qualifier. Can't wait for the CAF qualifier!

Anyway, I have a new wiki up for the new Euro Winners Cup --> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2013_Euro_Winners_Cup . Since there's no TV or stream for it, we'll have to do it the old-fashioned way and wait for the scores and summaries to pop up on Facebook. Shouldn't be too much of a hassle, right? ;-P Caperspark (talk) 15:40, 15 May 2013 (UTC)

2013 FIFA BSWC Qualifier info

This is great stuff going on now. About two weeks ago, we got word of when the CONMEBOL qualifiers will be and now we've found out about the Asian qualifier info. And yeah, the Wiki pages for them are set up and ready to go.

Now, we have to wait for the OFC, African and CONCACAF qualifier info. Caperspark (talk) 13:03, 13 November 2012 (UTC)

2015 FIFA BSWC Wiki deletion

Done deal. I don't understand why someone wants this page deleted. I guess this guy hates beach soccer. Sucks to be him, I guess. Caperspark (talk) 19:25, 26 October 2012 (UTC)

FIFA BSWC UEFA Qualifiers

No kidding! I was amazed by the comeback France pulled off! To come back from a 3-0 deficit after two periods and win on PKs? Unbelievable.

I thought the Russia-Switzerland match would be the clear match of the day (and it was), but that Portugal-France match equalled it.

BTW, what did you think of the format they`re using, with another group stage after the Round of 16? Not a huge fan of it. Was kinda surprised when I first found out they were doing that. Caperspark (talk) 21:55, 4 July 2012 (UTC)

BTW, the website beachsoccer.ru has been a massive help! They've kept realtime stats of every single match! Makes you wonder why BSWW isn't doing this. The webcast is great, but if beach soccer is to ever truly grow, the fans need more access to information about the events they do. Caperspark (talk)
Yup. I can give you another example. I did the Wiki page for beach soccer at this year's Asian Beach Games, and man, their info site really brought the bomb... realtime scores and stats, rosters, and if that wasn't enough, complete and detailed summaries of EVERY MATCH, even including who the referee was!
Oh yeah, we have our four teams bound for Tahiti. IMHO, it was Russia's to lose. The BSWC just won't feel right without Portugal and Switzerland there. I had a feeling Italy wouldn't make it, but Portugal and Switzerland? Definitely did not see that coming. Makes you wonder how rattled they'll be for the remainder of the EBSL season. Caperspark (talk) 00:59, 8 July 2012 (UTC)

2012 Euro Beach Soccer League

Damn, I never thought they'd have the info for this available! In any event, it's now out, and I have the Wiki page for it set up.

Only three stages before the Superfinal. This should prove to be interesting. Not only that, the EBSL picked up a major sponsor in this Power Horse energy drink. Maybe it tastes like Red Bull! :-P Caperspark (talk) 19:32, 4 April 2012 (UTC)

It's possible the OFC might have more countries outside of the Solomon Islands and Fiji send beach soccer teams for their qualifying tournament when it comes up. And I do think they may still have a qualifying tournament of some kind. Maybe this time, Vanuatu won't have to worry about a cyclone keeping them home!
We'll see how it'll shake out when it comes time for the tournament to take place, as FIFA might grant Oceania an exemption for Tahiti in this case.
And as for the UEFA qualifying info: I kinda got lucky on that. I wasn't expecting to find it so soon. Caperspark (talk) 21:02, 5 April 2012 (UTC)

It's Final time!

I'm with ya there, brotha! So is Tibullus! Caperspark (talk) 13:59, 11 September 2011 (UTC)

BSWC Group Stage

Wow. The group stage is almost over, and it's been a cracking one. I kinda suspected before the tournament that Group A would be the 'Group of Death' in many ways, and it certainly did not disappoint!

BTW, I didn't say thanks for updating the Discipline Wiki earlier (not very nice of me!) so I'll do that now. Also, thanks for the SportLemon link. It's definitely come in handy. Who would've thought that Al-Jazeera would do a great job of covering the tournament as we like it - live? Very disappointed at Eurosport for not covering the World Cup the way they covered the EBSL.

So, how will you use the rest day tomorrow? ;P Caperspark (talk) 12:42, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

Not to worry. I had a doctor's appointment this morning, so I missed the first two QF matches anyway. I got caught up pretty quickly, though.
But yeah, who would've thought that El Salvador would make the semis of the World Cup? I'll bet the bookies lost a lot of quid when that happened, and they might lose more if they make the final! And the Brazil-Portugal match? Man, that's fit for a final! I seriously thought that Nigeria would shock Brazil. They showed Brazil that they weren't afraid of them. I gotta say this: Brazil looks beatable. They didn't really impress in the group stage and Senegal gave Portugal their first real test of the tournament. Caperspark (talk) 00:37, 9 September 2011 (UTC)

Yellow and red cards

Well, like I said, I just wanted to try something here. I figured it couldn't hurt, right?

As for the new Wiki page... I'll get right on that! ;P Caperspark (talk) 13:14, 4 September 2011 (UTC)

FIFA Beach Soccer WC

Sure, no problem. Wasn't sure how it was done previously. Perhaps we can find a way to add in the PDF link as a secondary means for the match reports. Couldn't hurt! ;-)

BTW, how crazy was the Group A matches? Now THAT was beach soccer! I did not expect Senegal to take it to Switzerland as they did. Wouldn't it be weird if all Group A matches finished with everybody at a 0 goal differential? Caperspark (talk) 12:18, 2 September 2011 (UTC)

Indeed! I didn't really consider Tahiti beating Venezuela as an upset, and this is based on how they played during the OFC qualifier. That was probably Tahiti's easiest match of the group, with Nigeria and Russia coming up. But Brazil? I thought they were gonna destroy Ukraine, but the Ukrainians proved something to the defending champs, and to themselves.
Another point about Group C was the low attendance figures for both of the group's matches. With powerhouse squads like Nigeria and Russia there, there should be no reason for the low turnouts. Caperspark (talk) 23:47, 2 September 2011 (UTC)
As you may have noticed, I moved the goal scorers list to a new Wiki page. Now we got some newbie who thinks we need something there for reference. I say no, since a link to the page is all we need. What say you? Caperspark (talk) 17:55, 3 September 2011 (UTC)
Fair enough. I added the extra extra goal headings as placeholders. They would have been gone by the end of the tournament anyway.
So no problem here. I just needed an opinion, and got it. Caperspark (talk) 19:39, 3 September 2011 (UTC)

Not sure if you've seen it now, but I figured out how to add yellow and red cards into the summary. Had to do it in the goals part of it (not cool), but it works! You can always undo it if you think it sucks. Just wanted to try something here. Caperspark (talk) 12:29, 4 September 2011 (UTC)

FIFA BSWC Wiki changes

Like the changes you did to the page! BTW, you're welcome for the updated logo! Helps to know something about Photoshop and screen captures. ;)

BTW, the team rosters were released yesterday, and I updated the team's roster pages accordingly. Caperspark (talk) 14:47, 26 August 2011 (UTC)

It'll kick off at 10:30 am my time (I'm in the Atlantic time zone). Haven't found any streams to watch it, and I might get shut out at FIFA.com, but I'm sure I'll find something to see it.
Get ready for 11 days of insane competition, great beach soccer and insanity updating the page! You know there'll be the usual sycophants screwing it up for everybody (including Mohsen1248). Caperspark (talk) 21:38, 31 August 2011 (UTC)
OK, I am really ticked off. There are no streams available to watch the games, and the FIFA.com TV stream is only available in Europe. This sucks. Caperspark (talk) 13:35, 1 September 2011 (UTC)

Thanx for the heads-up

I did a check of this guy's IP. It shows he's in the U.S. (California, to be exact). His history shows he's hit the FIFA qualification Wikis only.

Some people just do not get it. Whatever happened to communicating with people?

As for your other point, it's OK by me. Not sure why you needed to ask, really! Caperspark (talk) 21:48, 12 August 2011 (UTC)

One other thing: are you sure it was that IP? It looks more like this IP was the real culprit --> 67.121.127.36 . 21:54, 12 August 2011 (UTC)

EBSL and CONMEBOL

Looks like BSWW is handling the schedule conflicts reasonably well.

Can't believe how crazy the Superfinal is becoming. Can you believe Juanma has three goals, two of them into his own goal? Unbelievable.

BTW, watch out for Meitar95. He's becoming a rather sneaky one now. Funny how he decides to come back after almost a year away. Caperspark (talk) 15:22, 6 August 2011 (UTC)

No, not as of yet, but he's been lurking around and springs up when you least expect it. Kinda like what we used to do on our own time! ;-P
The Promotional Final match will be interesting. Fitting it has the two teams who were both promoted and relegated. Caperspark (talk) 16:06, 6 August 2011 (UTC)
Yep. Can't wait until 1 September. It's gonna be crazier than it has ever been! I was thinking about doing this year's Mundialito Wiki, but I'll let it go (World Cup yer, ya know!). If someone else wants it, let 'em have it. Caperspark (talk) 11:23, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

Houston, we may have a problem

I just saw the match times for the CONMEBOL qualifier set to start this coming Sunday and I already noticed a possible glaring problem - the overlap of matches between the qualifier and the EBSL Superfinal, both set to go at the same time!

I did a check of the match times between the two (since Eurosport will cover the EBSL), taking into account the obvious time zone differences and I noticed that August 6 and 7 will pose a small problem, that being when the last match of the day in EBSL will finish, the opening match of the CONMEBOL qualifier sked (knockout stage by this point) will have begun. Caperspark (talk) 12:00, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

I couldn't agree more. No available streams for any of the matches (even beachsoccer.com isn't doing it), and as you said, news of the event is scarce at best. The best source for tourney info is at cbbsbrasil.com.br and THAT'S IT!
You'd think FIFA and BSWW would have been able to work around a logistical problem such as this. It was fairly easy to solve, IMHO. Caperspark (talk) 21:19, 1 August 2011 (UTC)
What lack of coverage? Not today, and likely not tomorrow. BSWW actually had a stream available to watch today's matches.
And ya, I was shocked at Uruguay being knocked out as well. A non-shocker is how Brazil is just obliterating their opponents. I thought Chile would gets beat worse than they did. In fact, Chile LED for a brief time! Caperspark (talk) 22:19, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

Possible changes to EBSL?

Couldn't get the stream on beachsoccer.com to work for the first Saturday match, but I managed to find a Eurosport stream, so it was OK! The British announcer made an interesting comment in which he suggested that the lower two teams in Division A be sent to the Promotional Final, along with the four Division B stage winners. Not sure about yourself, but I like that idea.

As well, and this is my own suggestion here, why not give the team that loses in extra time or PKs a single point? They already give the winner of that two points already, so why not the loser get one? Would make it a bit fair, really. Caperspark (talk) 22:51, 24 July 2011 (UTC)

EBSL Stage 4

Well, we know will take part in Division B for Stage 4. Eurosport bailed me out again! And ya, it's up on the EBSL Wiki. England is in this one. Caperspark (talk) 14:42, 16 July 2011 (UTC)

I think Eurosport's been covering beach soccer for a while now, so it's not really any surprise. It is definitely good for the sport. Caperspark (talk) 23:20, 16 July 2011 (UTC)
Wow, what a Stage! Good to see France qualify for the Promotional Final. Never should have been relegated in the first place. I'm pretty sure we'll see Belarus there as well, based on their good goal differential.
And how about Poland? In each of their matches, even against Italy and Switzerland, they had points for the taking, and every time, they concede a last-minute goal. Unbelievable! I really can't see them winning a match next week. With a power-packed division, they are gonna get decimated. Caperspark (talk) 22:45, 24 July 2011 (UTC)

EBSL Stage 2

Yeah, and especially in front of their home crowd. The Czechs played a sound match. Let's hope they actually get to play in the Promotional Final. They were supposed to last year, but had to pull out, allowing England to step in.

And how about the Russians? Balanced attack is all you can say. Shishin was a one-man goal-scoring machine, but others helped chip in.

Not sure if I feel bad about Turkey. They fought to get to Division A last year and they totally crashed out. No doubt they'll be relegated in the Promotional Final. Wonder if we'll see France try to take back the spot they lost? They have two stages left, so it won't surprise me if we see them again, either in Ravenna or in The Hague. Caperspark (talk) 23:43, 10 July 2011 (UTC)

BTW, the confirmed teams and sked for Stage 3 in Ravenna was found (thank you, Eurosport!) and posted on the 2011 EBSL Wiki. The teams in Division A for Stage 4 were therefore determined based on that. Piece of cake! Caperspark (talk) 01:43, 11 July 2011 (UTC)
That's still a mystery for now, but as with France in Stage 3, it won't be a total surprise if the Netherlands did field a team for Stage 4. Caperspark (talk) 12:16, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

About the overdue stuff...

1. I think it's too early to say who'll advance to the knockout stage. I will say that until we find out who the CONMEBOL qualifiers are, Group A looks like the Group of Death right now.

2. Nope, never said anything to him. Apparently, he tried to get in touch with me on the Arabic version of the FIFA BSWC page, but it was written in Arabic and couldn't read it. Not sure if he was trying to open a line of communication or hurl an insult.

3. With the lack of interest from the confederations regarding beach soccer, it makes you wonder why they bother sanctioning the sport at all. Kudos to the OFC and CONCACAF. Caperspark (talk) 00:13, 7 July 2011 (UTC)

FIFA BSWC groups determined!

I just saw that the groups for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup were just determined today in Rome. Wow, that was quick! And yes, I have updated the Wiki page to reflect the groups and the subsequent schedule. Caperspark (talk) 15:46, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

That wacky Iranian guy

Why? What's he done now? Caperspark (talk) 21:53, 30 June 2011 (UTC)

I've asked him to get a hold of either of us to talk about this. Hopefully, we can set him straight on why we do these beach soccer Wikis the way we do. Beach soccer is a totally different animal from, say, the Champions League, and we both understand that. Caperspark (talk) 01:26, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
Nope, and I really don't expect him to. Not surprised at that, really. I'm thinking he's waiting for one of us to contact him first. Caperspark (talk) 10:22, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

CONMEBOL qualifier info

Mucho thanx for filling out the CONMEBOL qualifier Wiki. Didn't think they'd hold the draw for that this early. I've added some of the other extra things from other qualifier Wikis and made a few modifications to the page. It's a month away, but at least the EBSL is going on before then! Caperspark (talk) 21:54, 29 June 2011 (UTC)

Major shocker: the CONMEBOL site has nothing about the upcoming CONMEBOL qualifier. No skeds, no subsite, nothing. Guess it shows how much it cares about a sport that it practically created. Caperspark (talk) 10:24, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

Madagascar info

Ask and ye shall receive! Here is a link that has their CAF qualifier roster --> http://www.courrierdemada.com/mg/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=17833:beach-soccer--eliminatoires-zone-afrique--les-barea-partent-pour-laventure&catid=38:sport&Itemid=64 Caperspark (talk) 12:14, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

2011 Euro Beach Soccer League

Yes, it's that time again. Time for another EBSL season. I already have a page set up for it here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_Euro_Beach_Soccer_League). Beachsoccer.com should have all nine matches online, like they did last year. Caperspark (talk) 14:04, 17 May 2011 (UTC)

CAF qualifier info

We got a date and place for the CAF qualifier. It's in mid-June at Casablanca, Morocco. The info's already up at the Wikipage for it. Caperspark (talk) 09:55, 7 April 2011 (UTC)

Not a problem! Just wanted to keep ya up to speed here. Caperspark (talk) 11:52, 9 April 2011 (UTC)
Sorry to hear that you'll miss the CAF qualifiers, but please do enjoy your vacation. I'll still be here! ;-P Funny thing was, when I saw the post-group stage fixtures, they appeared to be a tad confusing, especially the placement matches. BSWW must have typed them in wrong. Caperspark (talk) 13:35, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
Did a Google search for them after the first Madagascar goal. There is a page where the full roster is listed. Had to resort to doing that, since beachsoccer.com doesn't have anything regarding team lists for African sides. Caperspark (talk) 01:14, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

All set to go for the Mundialito

Hmmm, let's see... all the rosters are in place, BSWW webcast is working, no further updates needed outside of score updates... I think we're ready to rock and roll! And what's even better is that the match times sync up with my own time zone. Caperspark (talk) 11:09, 19 March 2011 (UTC)

Let's not jump the gun here, shall we? ;-P
BTW, where've ya been? I've got to say that this week may have just been the best week of beach soccer that's ever been played anywhere, even better than the WC qualifiers or the EBSL. Caperspark (talk) 18:31, 25 March 2011 (UTC)

CONMEBOL and CAF info

Looks like we might have preliminary info on who'll be taking part in the CONMEBOL and CAF qualifiers. Leave it to the Beach Soccer France site to aid here! BTW, the CONMEBOL page has been updated and the CAF page created. Caperspark (talk) 16:36, 16 March 2011 (UTC)

Mundialito de Clubes stuff

Now that the AFC qualifier is over (thank God), we can now look to the Mundialito de Clubes. All of the info on BSWW's site has already been plugged in, huge schedule and all! It'll be good for me, since Sao Paulo is only an hour ahead of where I am (UTC-3). Caperspark (talk) 17:22, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

Long time, no talk! ;P Anyway, the squads page got started because some other unnamed user wanted to start one and never got around to it. They put the referring link to it on the main article page as Squads and just left it. So I figured, OK, I'll fill it in, no problem.
I wasn't sure if the table format I wanted to use for the rosters would work here, so I tested it in the Sandbox first. And oh yeah, it took some finding to get the players' full names, since that Iranian guy (we know who he is!) was so insistent about it previously, so I thought I'd beat him to the punch here.
I don't think we'll see any assigned numbers or the fourth Brazilian team until probably sometime next week or immediately before kickoff. BSWW has been notoriously slow producing any details we need to know before any tournament until the day of. If we do, we'll adjust the rosters accordingly.
Either way, it'll be a full day of football for me here, with the Mundialito and the domestic MLS season getting into high gear. Caperspark (talk) 13:59, 11 March 2011 (UTC)
Well, we know who that fourth Brazilian team is now: SANTOS! Yeah, Pele's old team. Caperspark (talk) 00:43, 12 March 2011 (UTC)
My feeling was that if it's in their name, then that's what it should be. It's almost like referring to AC Milan without the AC. It would get a bit confusing between them and Inter Milan. Believe me, I get what they call them over in Europe during regular football tournaments, but then again, this isn't your regular football tournament! :-P
If you wanna undo the edits, as always, feel free to do so. No problem. BTW, I'm having trouble trying to track down the tenth man for most of the clubs. You having any luck? Caperspark (talk) 01:23, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
Ya know, I thought about what you said earlier regarding the FC part, so I went back and later realized you were right, so I undid all of my edits of your edits (no sense is being made here!) except for Seattle. It's to distinguish the current club from their NASL predecessors. Caperspark (talk) 16:36, 16 March 2011 (UTC)

AFC quarterfinals

I know! I'm just as perplexed by this as you are! I ran every conceivable calculation I could think of right away, and they all say Iraq should move on, unless there was some sort of issue with the Iraqi team that we don't know about. Makes absolutely no sense at all. Caperspark (talk) 15:39, 1 March 2011 (UTC)

Wait a minute. I think I figured out why this turned out as it did. Oman and Iraq are in the same group (Group A) and since it had the best and worst records of the eight best, there must be a rule where teams from the same group cannot face each other in the quarterfinals. That must be how Syria got in. Caperspark (talk)

AFC Wiki page changes

My suggestion would be yes, but I would leave the final decision to you. I think by now, both of us have a clear understanding of how this and other Wiki pages related to beach soccer should be edited. Caperspark (talk) 23:22, 28 February 2011 (UTC)

Sounds like a plan! :) Caperspark (talk) 02:39, 1 March 2011 (UTC)

AFC qualifier stuff

Wow, the group stage already turned into a non-factor, given that the top two in each group is pretty much decided right now (barring if Iraq beats Oman today). The race now is for the two "wild-card" spots. Most of the fun is pretty much gone until Wednesday. Caperspark (talk) 13:32, 28 February 2011 (UTC)

Never thought I'd ever say this, but mucho cred to BSWW's Facebook for the AFC score updates. Caperspark (talk) 15:24, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, that plus the attendances, match referees... the whole smash, basically. Problem is, the AFC doesn't recognize the tournament, like CONCACAF and the OFC do. Ditto with UEFA. Not sure if the CAF and CONMEBOL recognize it. Wouldn't kill BSWW to give us full match reports. Caperspark (talk) 15:34, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
For now, yes. At the same point, we should also ask him where he got his information about that from, because it's something we may not have access to. Caperspark (talk) 20:36, 28 February 2011 (UTC)

AFC online matches

It doesn't look good this time. The Oman TV feed I did see is stable, but very blurry. Al-Jazeera is a lost cause here, because I discovered that the matches are being shown on their Al-Jazeera Sports +10 channel, which isn't available online. Is it available in the UK? Outside of that, we're not going to see any of the matches, and that sucks.
And, it looks like it might get worse. Al-Jazeera stops it coverage right after the groups stage ends, so unless Oman TV is covering the entire tournament, we're SOL. Caperspark (talk) 22:11, 27 February 2011 (UTC)

I checked one of those 'illegal' streams available for Oman TV (won't put it here - might get booted if I do) and it looked very blurry, almost as if the feed was either second or third-pass. It held up OK, but I had a helluva time trying to read anything on it, including what little English there was! Might be better than nothing, I guess. Caperspark (talk) 22:39, 27 February 2011 (UTC)
If Oman TV is covering the tournament, they're not showing it on their station. Guess it's not really that much of a shock when it's something controlled by the Minister of Information (does that title sound familiar? :) ). Caperspark (talk) 13:26, 28 February 2011 (UTC)

AFC qualifier online streaming

It looks like BSWW will have online streaming of the AFC qualifier available at beachsoccer.com . I checked to see if this was the case and got the web player outline. Thought I'd see the message saying the event didn't exist, but we should be OK here. Caperspark (talk) 06:08, 27 February 2011 (UTC)

It looks like Oman TV and al-Jazeera will have coverage of the AFC qualifier. You must have been lucky, finding out before I did! ;-P It's OK, I'll still watch the rest of it somehow. Always do! Caperspark (talk) 14:45, 27 February 2011 (UTC)
Will do. I'm looking into it now, now that I know what to look for. Might be one of these 'illegal' streams, but it might be all that we have for this. Caperspark (talk) 15:57, 27 February 2011 (UTC)
Hmmmm.... that definitely makes it harder to find a good stream to watch the matches. If I do find one, you may have to delete the post immediately - it might be one of those 'illegal' streams. I don't like it, but there it is. Caperspark (talk) 18:31, 27 February 2011 (UTC)

CONMEBOL qualifier

Got news regarding the CONMEBOL qualifier. It'll be held from May 7 - 14 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It was confirmed on Beach Soccer Brasil's calendar. I've already made the necessary changes noting this, plus the referring link. Caperspark (talk) 20:51, 26 February 2011 (UTC)

AFC qualifier draw

Have you heard anything about the draw for the AFC qualifier? It's been over for seven and a half hours now and not a peep about it so far. Strange. It's not even on any of the Oman news sites. Caperspark (talk) 15:34, 24 February 2011 (UTC)

No need to answer that question. Found it (bloody well took long enough!). A user with the name Uishaki provided info on how the draw turned out. Found the schedule at BSWW, which has now been plugged into the page. We're good to go here! Caperspark (talk) 17:50, 24 February 2011 (UTC)

OFC online

OK. I'm just making sure you didn't think I was having all the fun here! :-P Caperspark (talk) 23:33, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

Wow, what a match! First period stunk, but it was a barnburner the rest of the way, just what you want to see in beach soccer. Caperspark (talk) 23:38, 24 February 2011 (UTC)

Mundialito de Clubes

I've set up a new Wiki page for the inaugural Mundialito de Clubes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Mundialito_de_Clubes). Not much there except what was released today at BSWW. Caperspark (talk) 23:12, 17 February 2011 (UTC)

Just added more info to the Mundialito page, including which teams are in it and a link to the draft results. Caperspark (talk) 19:20, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
Unfortunately, no, the big names won't be there (dammit!). If you view the Wiki page that I created on it, it will show that only Beach Soccer players could be drafted, like Frank, Madjer, and so forth. I was surprised that some of football's major powers are fielding teams in this, including a team from my region (Seattle Sounders FC). No word on how the teams will be grouped as of yet, but I suspect we'll find out soon enough. Caperspark (talk) 02:05, 22 February 2011 (UTC)

AFC qualifying

Have you been able to find any further details on the AFC qualifying for the 2011 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup? I've been searching the Net for some time now and can't find anything, even on the AFC web site, where they don't even have it listed in their calendar. Can't believe they'd leave it this late when qualifying is less than two weeks away. Caperspark (talk) 14:43, 16 February 2011 (UTC)

Dude, got great news! You know that page you said you found on the AFC qualifying teams, but couldn't remember? I think I found it. I used the info in it to update the AFC qualifying page. Feel free to clean up anything if it needs it. Caperspark (talk) 20:09, 19 February 2011 (UTC)
Apparently, it's not going to be 15 teams as was earlier reported. It's down to 11 teams now, according to BSWW, and the draw is also taking place tomorrow. Changes have already been made to the Wiki page, with references. Caperspark (talk) 14:46, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

OFC qualifying

BTW, I have found some news regarding the OFC qualifying for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup. I was just on the OFC website and they have their qualifying tournament scheduled for February 22-26, 2011 (the Wiki page for it has been updated to reflect this). Nothing yet for CONMEBOL, although I suspect it might be sometime next month. Caperspark (talk) 13:49, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

Got lucky, really. I figured the schedule for it had to be out by now. What I didn't expect to find was news about the new venue. Caperspark (talk) 22:39, 3 February 2011 (UTC)
Indeed. What you might not have caught was the fact that because of the cyclone, it forced Vanuatu to withdraw from the tournament (http://www.oceaniafootball.com/ofc/News/ViewArticle/tabid/125/Article/02b4f367-bc66-41d0-9acd-6eb15e1187eb/language/en-US/Default.aspx), making it a three-team field. Not to worry, as I've already made all the necessary changes, including to the schedule. Caperspark (talk) 01:59, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
You watching the macth here at http://www.livestream.com/ofctv/ , too? Caperspark (talk) 23:26, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

Crazy Semifinals

Yeah, I know. Both semifinal matches going to PKs. As a footie fan, you have to love that. It showed that all four semifinalists wanted the World Cup spots badly.

Speaking of the World Cup, I've also been watching another World Cup of another sport: darts. Can't believe England (with Phil Taylor and James Wade) went out as quick as they did to Spain. Unless a miracle happens, there's no stopping Raymond van Barneveld and Co Stompe of Holland. Caperspark (talk) 13:50, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

The Own Goal

There might be a bit of a quandary with the own goal in the CAN-JAM match. I thought it was a straight own goal, but then I saw the match recap on the CONCACAF site and they said that it wasn't. Someone's lying here! Caperspark (talk) 13:47, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

Until we see the official match report at the CONCACAF site, then yeah, let's leave it. Plus, the goal totals at CONCACAF's site are off. They actually counted the PK goals! Caperspark (talk) 14:48, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

No problem

Nah, no problem at all. Don't worry about it.

Anyway, it's all set to go. It'll be a nice break from the NHL season for that weekend. Hope my country's team (Canada) has a good showing. Caperspark (talk) 20:12, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

Just had to do it, huh? ;-P

In any event, I'll keep tabs on how the draw for the CONCACAF tourney goes down, then they'll be plugged into the page and then we'll be all set. Caperspark (talk) 21:48, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

I just want to let you know that I have set up an article for the 2010 Beach Soccer Worldwide Tour this week. It's scheduled to happen in Sunderland this weekend. It'll be interesting to see how the temporary beach stadium inside the Stadium of Light looks. Caperspark (talk) 14:35, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

TurboGUY, we would like you to become a member of the Football Variants Taskforce of WikiProject Football.

Hello TurboGUY, it is nice to meet you. I came across your page when I went through the list of people who had edited articles in this category about Football variants, and I wondered if you were intrested in joining a new taskforce that covers this category, as we are looking for members. Thank you for your time - DeMoN2009

To join, put your name in Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Taskforce on Association Football variants/Participants with #{{user|TurboGUY}} - 2o-DeMoN-o8t*c*a*wp 18:36, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

Association Football Variants News Sources

Do you know any news sources for beach soccer, indoor soccer etc? - DeMoN2008 14:43, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

It's not silly - everyone has to learn sometime! To do this, replace the football tag with {{football|class=???|importance=???}}. Replace ??? with whatever category you wish to use - for a full guide go here. I will fix the categories at the bottom myself, unless you want to of course! Thank you for the news sources - DeMoN2008 18:10, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

License tagging for File:Tenbypanorama.JPG

Thanks for uploading File:Tenbypanorama.JPG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 18:06, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

Hi TurboGUY. Given the information available, there was consensus on Talk:Halo (film) to merge Halo (film) to Halo (series). You can see whether consensus has changed, but, unless new sources are presented, I don't think that there will be consensus for a standalone article. —TKD [talk][c] 22:19, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Is there anything substantial not already covered in Halo (series)#Film? In the series article, we can't give too much weight to a work that hasn't even entered pre-production. —TKD [talk][c] 22:24, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
I did read your version. It's more detailed, but the series article's summary is adequate. I was more wondering whether you felt strongly about any additional details that you think need to be added. One thing to keep in mind for the future: Halopedia and (for the more part) IMDB are user-written, so they aren't reliable sources. —TKD [talk][c] 22:38, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Your addition to List of FlashForward episodes has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of article content such as sentences or images. Thank you for uploading this media,

However, it would be nice if you could give some kind of indication as to what license the media is under. That way other people can be confident in making use of it for many varied purposes :)

Adding license information also helps prevent media you've put effort into creating from being deleted :)

You may wish to read Wikipedia:Image_copyright_tags#For_image_creators which will assist you :)

Thank you for uploading File:Flashview.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. ww2censor (talk) 19:30, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:HaloReachBetaHomeScreen.jpeg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:HaloReachBetaHomeScreen.jpeg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Melesse (talk) 01:26, 1 August 2010 (UTC)

File source problem with File:HaloReachBetaHomeScreen.jpeg

Thank you for uploading File:HaloReachBetaHomeScreen.jpeg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 06:01, 1 August 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Salavat (talk) 06:01, 1 August 2010 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of 2007 Euro Beach Soccer League, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.beachsoccer.az/index.php?r=1&lang=en&id=170.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. Liverpool F.C. wiki

Hello, I am the lead sysop on the Liverpool F.C. wiki. It is a wiki dedicated solely to Liverpool F.C.. We aim to make the ultimate database for the club we all love. Since adopting the incredibly inactive wiki about a month ago we have greatly increased the article count and modernized it from it's previous state. The problem is there are not many active members on the site and we need more for the site to properly grow. It is well organized and on it's way to be a great site we just need more editors to expand. It is based on Wikia's network of wikis. Like Wikipedia it is free to use and the editing process is exactly the same. If you know how to edit Wikipedia you will know how to edit the Liverpool F.C. wiki. Now for the question you may be asking yourself. Why edit there? Wikipedia has articles on Liverpool. This is true. At the Liverpool wiki it is all about Liverpool. We allow editors to edit anything about Liverpool no matter how trivial. We allow edits on reserve and academy players, and even things as trivial as the fitness coaches for the year 2011. We also do not lock pages to registered users. That means if you have something to say about Steven Gerrard you can click edit and not view source and actually write something. I would love for you to come by and check the wiki out. Feel free to edit any page. Every time you click edit your ARE helping this wiki grow. Thanks for taking the time to read this! http://liverpoolfc.wikia.com/wiki/Liverpool_FC_Wiki --Coffeeclub213 (talk) 00:54, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

Tahiti location map

Hi Turboguy,

I saw you had User talk:Dr. Blofeld#Tahiti location map to make a Tahiti location map for you. I perhaps can do this better than Blofeld (he and I have worked on a number of articles together and he knows my good faith, just it might be more up my tree than his). I can do this for you&emdash; it has been a while since I have done one and they are a bit trial-and-error, I think there are options in {{Location map}}. Do you want the island of Moorea to be kinda a cut-out/insert in one corner of the map? That would distort the lat/long stuff though, but in practice it might work best.

I am sure between me you and old Blofeld we can get what you want. Just offering to help if need be. These are fiddly but not particularly difficult, just that the coordinates never seem to be exactly where you think they should be, even if you have the lat and long for them (from an atlas, say) so that one ends up hand-crafting i.e. bodging them a bit so they look right.

File:Karta FP Societe isl.PNG which is used on the Tahiti and Moorea pages is not very good quality and perhaps it would be best to make that into an SVG image, (or start from scratch from a good atlas) then go from there? That is not, itself, a location map but could be made one easily, but it is a bit rough and I would probably start from scratch. {{Location map Tahiti}}, as you say, uses File:Location map Tahiti.png, which is more of a bird's eye view (aerial or satellite pictures) than a stylised "political" map. I think the best would be to create an SVG image from scratch.

Best wishes Si Trew (talk) 06:25, 18 March 2012 (UTC)

I wouldn't be able to do the lines provincially. You might want to ask User:NordNordWest on his German wiki talk page if he can do one for you. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:02, 18 March 2012 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Lithuania national beach soccer team, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. UEFA European Championship 3rd or 4th place

Hi, you recently undid my non-alphabetic edit on the UEFA European Championship semi-finalists. Please tell me: then what is their template's ranking for? As far as I know, semi-finalists get ranked according to their semi-final results (3rd or 4th). (And if that's still equal, they consider the overall tournament results). It's not because the match isn't played, that they share the 3rd place together. A semi-finalist either gets ranked 3rd of 4th... ProudTarjaholic (talk) 15:37, 12 July 2016 (UTC)

Invite to the African Destubathon

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:13, 6 October 2016 (UTC)

incomplete Beach soccer tournaments

i was collect all of incomplete Beach soccer tournaments results in talk page :

Futsal & beach soccer

Hi, thanks for your response. I was thinking the exact same principle in applying notability to both forms of football. I suggest we propose the same basic qualifying criteria used for regular football. That we a least allow notability for any player who has appeared in a senior international match as defined by FIFA for beach soccer or futsal. After all FIFA is a major world sanctioning body. I believe we also have to sell or convince wiki users at NSPORTS the notability of both sports. I believe one good example would be marketing statistical facts or the fact that the FIFA World Fustal Cup (not to sure if FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup) receives coverage from the Worlds major sport broadcasters. If you want we can both workout a proposal for the two different forms of football. To answer your second question yes I do have an interest in indoor football mostly the National Professional Soccer League (1984–2001), but I mostly cover Canadian lower tier leagues due to the fact that it is horribly neglected. The fact I was writing player articles for the NPSL, and the football bureaucrats deleted them on the basis that I couldn't prove it was "fully" professional. Whatever that means in the real world your either professional, semi-pro, or amateur regardless of what your yearly football income is. If all players are paid in the league in it is in fact professional. Which promoted me to finally address this issue. Shotgun pete (talk) 14:57, 2 April 2017 (UTC)

Hi TurboGuy just letting you know that I wrote a proposal for notability for futsal players at WP:Notability (sports) talk page. I haven't submitted one for beach soccer yet. Just letting you know if you were interested in participating. Thanks Shotgun pete (talk) 10:29, 10 April 2017 (UTC)

2017 in South American football (CONMEBOL) template

Well, including the futsal and beach soccer competitions into the templates in the way you suggest is not a bad idea, since they are CONMEBOL competitions and because they involve clubs. However, I would like to suggest that any other regional versions of those competitions (for example, this one) be also included into their confederation's template, for the sake of consistency. An article you recently created, 2018 Copa Libertadores de Beach Soccer, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It is too soon for this article to be created, so I have moved it to draft for the time being. After the event has taken place, or once there is sourcable pre-coverage of the event (i.e. in reliable news sources), it can be moved back to main space. At present it is WP:TOO SOON. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here) 22:37, 19 August 2018 (UTC)

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:08, 20 August 2018 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:2018 EBSL Superfinal Arena Alghero.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:2018 EBSL Superfinal Arena Alghero.jpg, which you've attributed to Brian Murgatroyd. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 12:57, 14 September 2018 (UTC)
