Image tagging for Image:5579529.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:5579529.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Tagging articles

[edit]

If you tag an article, please leave reasons why on the article's talk page. Otherwise we can't figure out what the concern is.

I have RVed the tagging to interceptor. I think I know what you were trying to say from the checkin note, but the article seems very balanced to me. Most of the sections lead off with an example from the USSR.

Pl. see Wikipedia:Featured lists so that you can chip in with the article President of Pakistan to make it one. Also requested a peer review. --Idleguy 01:33, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:20070224-DSCN3343.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:20070224-DSCN3343.jpg is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only" or "used with permission for use on Wikipedia only" which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3).

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under afree license.

If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:20070224-DSCN3343.jpg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 04:20, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Airblueself.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Airblueself.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot07:24, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Airblueself.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Airblueself.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used underfair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described oncriteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.Rettetast 22:40, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lal Masjid

[edit]

The reference you posted did not mention anything regarding the MMA's body count. Aside from that fact, the MMA is not a reputable organization and is known for exaggerating, and also, 800-1000 is an impossible total which does not even deserve consideration at this point. Afinebalance 05:29, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please only post this claim ONCE you are able to reference it to an article that cites that number specifically. The article you have attached as a reference contradicts the MMA's claim and reports only between 86-102 casualties, which is why it's not accepted. Also, since this is an English article, the references should be English as well. Politically motivated numbers are absolutely unacceptable on Wikipedia. Afinebalance 05:35, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Then the Npov status of this article will be in doubts.I think those people who will be reading this article can also speak urdu!.The dawn reff was for Goverments claims.User talk:Yousaf465

Excuse me, do you understand how an encyclopedia works? The NPOV status of the article is lost when people begin to write things without referencing them, like you have. You cannot put the claim of 800-1000 claims as an official estimate at the top of the page when you use a government reference of 102. You can place it as a legitimate estimate once multiple news sources (especially non-Indian) are referring to it as a possible claim.

Also, the South Asian media itself is filled with corruption, hypocrisy and exaggeration, and most of them simply don't belong in a legitimate article. Half of the articles say "300 coffins" while Indian media have increased it to "800 coffins", and either of those may have been for precautionary measures. Hundreds of people have been taken to jail, and so on. Please don't bring this sensationlist style of news into this article, and wait until there are multiple and legitimate news sources and after all possible reasons have been elimated. Afinebalance 05:49, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

They made that ruling to keep journalists away from the hospital because you cannot save people's lives when you have dozens of brainless Pakistani reporters blocking ambulances and doctors from doing their jobs. It is difficult to hide 700 extra deaths in ambulances while the media watches along the road, and so on. You must wait for a final answer before reporting such garbage from anti-government people who don't have an education, otherwise feel free to apply as a reporter to ARY or GEO, which were an embarassment to Pakistan because of their reporting, just like most news agencies from our country.Afinebalance 05:53, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please take a look at the article and post your comments on this issue on the talkpage? It would be very appriciated.Thanks.-Vmrgrsergr 04:10, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Yousuf,

I hope we didn't get off two the wrong start. I love Pakistan and I love writing for Pakistan on wikipedia. You are more than welcome to contribute to Lal Masjid Siege infact you should but make you sure you don't interject your personal opinion when writing on wikipedia. Mercenary2k 05:58, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I could use your help on the casualties for the militants, students in the red mosque. See from July 3 to July 10 or something, 20-30 militant students were killed in clashes with the Army. When the Army raided, 90 or so militant students died. Can you find the proper references for the number of students that died prior to the attack ?

Thanks

ya

[edit]

i am on line...why? Mercenary2k 04:10, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

already did. The article should be called Lal Masjid Siege because thats what it was. Calling it a tragedy is like calling the Virginia Tech Massacare a Tragedy or the Siege of Leningrad a Tragedy. Call it what it is. Mercenary2k 04:14, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm, what do you mean? I dont understand the picture. Its a picture of a PIA planeMercenary2k 04:15, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

should i go ahead and post it on PIA wiki.User talk:Yousaf465
Go for it post the pic. As for calling the Lal Masjid Siege a tragedy. That still doesn't apply. Look at Moscow theatre hostage siege. The article calls it a siege even though it was Russian citizens vs Russian citizens even though the ethnicity were Chechen. So calling it a tragedy won't work. It should be called a Siege becuase that is what this was. Our brave Army against these cowardly terrorists. Mercenary2k 04:38, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Man people took the law into their own hands. They said they were planning suicide attacks. They were setting buildings on fire, they kidnapped people, they attacked the police and the army. The government gave them countless opportunities to surrender but they didn't. What else do you expect the government to do? I don't understand why you are siding with these terrorists who have killed hundreds of our brave soldiers. I really don't. If you hate Musharraf, then thats fine. But you can't support these people as they undermine the sovereignty of Pakistan.Mercenary2k 05:15, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Why is it evertime that a person goes against the Islamic Terrorists in Pakistan like the Lal Mosque goons, people like you blame the media for brainwashing me? I get my news from multiple sources and I have enough brains to make up my own mind. The Army did wait. It waited for 8 Days to let these people surrender. It send it countless religious, political people to persuade the people to surrender. It tried and tried but to no avail. People like you are always gonna come up with stupid conspiracy theories that the Zionist Mush under orders from his Jewish Masters ordered the attack, etc, etc, etc...Give it up. I have had countless debates on this issue. What angers me is that people like you don't support Pakistan, don't support our troops when they are fighting terrorists. I don't need to be in Pakistan to understand what is going on. I have been there enough times, to know the political climate of that country, as well as the going ons over there. The real situation was that a bunch of jihal maulvis took over a mosque started preaching hate under orders from their Arab masters living in FATA areas. The government tolerated their nonsense but after 6 months they decided to act. And I am glad they did but I only wished they acted sooner. Now your buddies have killed over 100 of our troops and started suicide bombing all over Pakistan. We DO NOT APPEASE Terrorists. The people in Lal Mosque were TERRORISTS and they deserved what they got. Mercenary2k 07:18, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pl. contribute to Tipu Sultan

[edit]

Since Tipu was a common hero and much of his history is still plagued (in WP atleast) with biases & historical inaccuracies, I suggest we try to improve this article by adding sourced statements en route to becoming a FA. On a similar note, I feelAurangzeb also has great potential, if ppl put aside their petty quarrels to make it a fine example of a biography although of a controversial man. --Idleguy 05:07, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

yes it could be a valuable insight to the man from an "inside" perspective. I didn't know his lineage - at least some - is now in Lahore. But I think he must be like great-great-great-grandson atleast? --Idleguy 10:37, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Email to Postal Mail

A convenient free postal mail service which can deliver email messages all over Pakistan. Peoples can now use their email to send letters giving you another route to communicate with others who are not connected to the Internet in Pakistan.

In recent past Internet and e-mail have revolutionized the world of communications. But those who do not have easy access to Internet and e-mail facilities could not get benefits of this facility. In its endeavour to make the benefits of e-mail available to a common man, Al Tayyeb Group has introduced i-post service. By i-post all those who do not have computer or do not have access to Internet can send e-mail by Post Office or receive e-mail through a postman. Those who have access to Internet can also send i-post to those who do not have access to Internet.

Wikipedia should have an article on this social service & must be a part of WikiProject Pakistan. Please comments.--SaqibChaudhry (talk) 09:25, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

indian involvement

[edit]

the given newslink only talks about indian made guns being used by some groups in NWFP but nothing about India being accused of state sponsored terrorism, in the way that ISI has recently been hounded in the media, including pak's ally USA in its involvement in kabul blasts amongst other things. Infact the source from "The Nation" doesn't "accuse" India of any terrorist involvement, but just the arms case. So rewording to give it a different meaning in the article was out of good faith and I hope you'll remove it yourself. Tx. Idleguy (talk) 10:46, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Except the rediff link, the rest in my talk page give a 404 error. btw, don't you find it a bit amusing that after India, Afghanistan, and most importantly Pak's ally in the "War on Terror", the USofA accused ISI for its involvement in the recent kabul blasts, we have pakistan reporting of these three nations' (including US) trying to support terrorism in Pakistan?US backing terror networks in Pakistan This only proves that Pakistan is hell bent on accusing those who have criticised Pak by counter allegging them with state-sponsored terrorism. --Idleguy (talk) 12:13, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please review WP:TERRORIST. This word should not be used unattributed, certainly not in the defining sentence. The fact that they were called a terrorist organization by many people is already detailed in the second paragraph of the lead. --Nudve (talk) 08:59, 15 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That's nice, but the word "terrorist" should not be used as a definition altogether. -- Nudve (talk) 09:04, 15 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Would you mind moving your "individuals" stuff to the main article? If you dont think thats right, could you move it below the UN and other organisations and start a talk page discussion on its importance? Thanks! Superpie (talk) 05:55, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I see you've been around for awhile, so I'm curious why you thought it appropriate toa 2003 photo from a San Francisco rally to an article about 2009 airstrikes? --DavidShankbone 16:55, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed onCategory:Pakistan featured pictures, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted becauseCategory:Pakistan featured pictures has been empty for at least four days, and its only content has been links to parent categories. (CSD C1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deletingCategory:Pakistan featured pictures, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact thebot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Haddin

[edit]

This:

Brad Haddin did not make an effort to prevent Neil Broom from leaving the field after the wicketkeeper dislodged the bails in a bowled dismissal in Perth. When Neil Broom was bowled in the First match of the Chappell-Hadlee Series in Melbourne, but the replays showed that Haddin's glow's touched the stumps before ball has crossed the stumps. So Neil Broom should have been considered not out.It should have been called a no-ball

is all your opinion and has no place in an article. Until such time as you can provide a NPOV version of events, I will continue to remove this content. --Mattinbgn\talk 04:10, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Now an NPOV version has been added (from a NZ source no less). Mindless vandalism has seen the article semi-protected but this should not prevent you from making any changes if you wish. Adding large blockquotes to the article would seem to me to breachWP:UNDUE. By the way I am very familiar with what the international reaction has been. If you are curious, take a look atthis article for some history. --Mattinbgn\talk 05:39, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Having a logo showing doesn't make it any less of a copyright violation. Personally, I am happy to see Haddin kicked out of the Australian team, not because he is a cheat (although he may well be), but because he is a very ordinary wicket-keeper. I hold no special regard for him. -- Mattinbgn\talk 09:53, 5 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Johan Lundgren

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Johan Lundgren requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Decline reason:

Attacking Yellowmonkey below is not a good way to get unblocked. It is quite clear from the ANI thread cited above that your block is not for a single, specific action but rather for a long pattern of tendentious behavior. Since you have not addressed this behavior, as explained in detail at the ANI thread cited above, and you have given no assurances that you intend to stop, I see no reason to unblock at this time. Yellowmonkey either doesn't understand simple English or is trying to be over nationalist, the main page controversy is baseless.I wasn't trying to be natinalist or any such thing. My only point was that it should be diversified.2)If you see the file history it can be seen, that, this file at first had dead links.I tagged it that way.Another editor provided the links to it.I asked him to check with the mentioned lab. whether they provide it for wikipedia. The herald has also been questioned by other non-concerned editors[4],[5],[6],so there is no point in blaming me for that.4)Be sensible and Read carefully a)Image description b)Tag description c) talk pages[7].Before accusing anyone of racial bias.5)I didn't revert this any further because a valid reason was given.I can't see any reinsertion byUser:Seicer at this [8]User:Yellowmonkey is going out of his mind.He and other involved editor didn't even took pain to discuss these articles and file on the talk page.Instead have constantly removing content while hiding behind ips as it mentioned here.[9].Taquiyya is actually Taqiyya. I myself removed content which was questionable but Instead of making on it they just kept on reverting edits.User:Yousaf465

No problem. As for the dawn source for the terrorist group status, I'm not too sure it's necessary. But, the entire article, particularly the part about the different countries. India doesn't need three sections, especially when Pakistan and Iran, especially Iran have been accused by more countries. And all the countries so far are written as accusations, and there are no response from what the governments has said. Plus, there are several countries missing. Bangladesh I'm sure has been accused by India, Israel is accused by several countries in the middle east, etc.Deavenger (talk) 04:03, 23 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Page moves

[edit]

I don't know how long you've been editing Wikipedia, so pardon me for assuming that you're fairly new. There's two things I'd like to bring to your attention: first, we have a way of doing things that says "Be bold - revert - discuss". That means that people are encouraged to be bold, but when your bold action is reverted, instead of doing it again, stop and discuss it first. your initial page move of the cricket team attack article was fine, but when it was undone, instead of doing it again, you should have gone to the talk page and developed a consensus for what you were trying to do. And before discussing, make sure you're familiar with our naming guidelines. The second thing that I'd like to bring to your attention is that when there's a move war, like what you engaged in, it leaves behind a big mess of double and sometimes triple redirects that others have to clean up. This time, a bot took care of it, but nevertheless, move wars are definitely not a good idea. Thanks for your cooperation. AKRadeckiSpeaketh 15:46, 4 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the advice and I didn't moved it further.Discussion is taking place, and I 'm also contributing to it.User:Yousaf465 (talk)

Did You Know problem

[edit]

Hello! Your submission of Elite Police at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and there still are some issues that may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! Art LaPella (talk) 22:14, 7 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article is now long enough according to C1. As the top of my talk page states, I do basic proofreading, but not approvals. The others were also objecting to short sections, so removing some headers would probably satisfy them. Art LaPella (talk) 15:45, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This article has numerous issues that need to be addressed before it is ready for a GA nomination. The logo in the infobox needs to be reduced in size, the "free" images need to have the non-free logo cropped out of them, the empty section "retired" needs expanding, and the referencing needs to be improved, drastically. There are some whole sections that go completely without references. J Milburn (talk) 10:07, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That wasn't the review, reviews are a little more intense than that! I think your best bet would be to withdraw the nomination for now and continue to work on the article- it actually meets some of the quick-fail crtieria, as it uses images without license templates, and includes several images that are tagged as free when they are actually non-free (due to the use of the non-free logo). J Milburn (talk) 10:15, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You're not a regular editor of the article? Have you at least consulted the regular editors before the nomination, as directed onWP:GAC? The logo needs to only be a little larger than it appears in the infobox- perhaps 250 by 100 px, depending on the proportions. Any of the images (apart from the logo) that include the logo should remove it, as it counts as a non-free component, and it's also important to verify that they haven't been taken from the airline's website. Sources also really need to be added before this is ready for GAC. J Milburn (talk) 10:24, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, that's fine then. If they were created by the enthusiasts, that's great, but they should not contain the logo. J Milburn (talk) 10:34, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your welcome and the basic info. My attitude towards editing content will be cautious and respectful. Most of it will be in the mathematics and history of mathematics pages. Sometimes I'll edit (without comment) typos and grammar. I'm a bit finicky that way. Aliotra (talk) 01:03, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have been using Wikipedia for over a year now, and I think I am ready to start contributing. So far I have only fixed minor typos, but I would like to learn how to do more. Ghanima4 (talk) 04:10, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

First of all read your welcome message carefully. It has many important rules.yousaf465'

Account Creation Interface

[edit]

Your request to be approved to use the Internal Account Creation Interface is pending review, and needs your approval.
To prevent people from impersonating Wikipedia users to gain access to ACC, we require all requests to be verified by the requesting user. These are the details:

  • Requested username on ACC: yousaf465
  • Wikipedia username referenced: yousaf465

Please let me know on my talk page whether or not you have made this request. If you did, the request will be reviewed. If you did not, the request will be denied and you won't be bothered again. --FastLizard4(TalkIndexSign) 05:47, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You request to be approved to use the Internal Account Creation Interface has been denied. You have been blocked before and have a history on ANI, if for nothing else, disruptive tagging. The sensitive nature of ACC requires editors that have extremely good histories on Wikipedia. However, if in a few months or so you can show edit stability, we (the ACC administrators) may be willing to reconsider your request. --FastLizard4(TalkIndexSign) 06:01, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
