Yorkton Film Festival Golden Sheaf Award - Best of Festival
Thank you for your review of Yorkton Film Festival Golden Sheaf Award - Best of Festival article! Does it get acknowledged somewhere? I was hoping to get the YFF Golden Sheaf Award - Ruth Shaw reviewed and was curious to know how/why this occurs and how I can tell when it has been done... - it is such a mystery. :- ) Regards, LorriBrown (talk) 05:40, 7 January 2020 (UTC)
Red-linked categories
Hi. Per WP:REDNOT you shouldn't have red-linked categories on your user page such as Category:Wikidata translation administrators and Category:Commons file movers. I have no strong views on what the best alternative is, whether changing them to a category that does exist, or creating the categories, but could you do something about them please as they're part of the backlog at Special:WantedCategories that we're trying to clear? Bengali Wikipedia
Good day; I found you listed at the WP:Local Embassy. I was wondering if you could check on something at Bengali Wikipedia, as I am not a Bengali speaker. A user here - GIMEXCO LTD. - was blocked for violating our policy against corporate usernames and spamming on their userpage. It looks like they have done the same on Bengali Wikipedia (bn:ব্যবহারকারী:GIMEXCO LTD.). I'm not familiar with the policies regarding promotion/advertising and usernames at bn-wiki; I'm guessing they are similar, but I can't be sure without an imperfect machine translation. Would you be able to investigate and report them if they are in violation? Thanks. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 15:36, 18 January 2020 (UTC)

The Editing team has been working on the talk pages project. The goal of the talk pages project is to help contributors communicate on wiki more easily. This project is the result of the Talk pages consultation 2019.
The team is building a new tool for replying to comments now. This early version can sign and indent comments automatically. Please test the new Reply tool.
- On 31 March 2020, the new reply tool was offered as a Beta Feature editors at four Wikipedias: Arabic, Dutch, French, and Hungarian. If your community also wants early access to the new tool, contact User:Whatamidoing (WMF).
- The team is planning some upcoming changes. Please review the proposed design and share your thoughts on the talk page. The team will test features such as:
- an easy way to mention another editor ("pinging"),
- a rich-text visual editing option, and
- other features identified through user testing or recommended by editors.
To hear more about Editing Team updates, please add your name to the "Get involved" section of the project page. You can also watch these pages: the main project page, Updates, Replying, and User testing.

Articles for Creation: List of reviewers by subject notice
Hi ZI Jony, you are receiving this notice because you are listed as an active Articles for Creation reviewer.
Recently a list of reviewers by area of expertise was created. This notice is being sent out to alert you to the existence of that list, and to encourage you to add your name to it. If you or other reviewers come across articles in the queue where an acceptance/decline hinges on specialist knowledge, this list should serve to facilitate contact with a fellow reviewer.
To end on a positive note, the backlog has dropped below 1,500, so thanks for all of the hard work some of you have been putting into the AfC process!
Sent to all Articles for Creation reviewers as a one-time notice. To opt-out of all massmessage mailings, you may add Category:Wikipedians who opt out of message delivery to your user talk page. Regards, Sam-2727 (talk)

This issue of the Editing newsletter includes information the Talk pages project, an effort to help contributors communicate on wiki more easily.
- Reply tool: This is available as a Beta Feature at the four partner wikis (Arabic, Dutch, French, and Hungarian Wikipedias). The Beta Feature is called "Discussion tools". The Beta Feature will get new features soon. The new features include writing comments in a new visual editing mode and pinging other users by typing
@
. You can test the new features on the Beta Cluster now. Some other wikis will have a chance to try the Beta Feature in the coming months. - New requirements for user signatures: Soon, users will not be able to save invalid custom signatures in Special:Preferences. This will reduce signature spoofing, prevent page corruption, and make new talk page tools more reliable. Most editors will not be affected.
- New discussion tool: The Editing team is beginning work on a simpler process for starting new discussions. You can see the initial design on the project page.
- Research on the use of talk pages: The Editing team worked with the Wikimedia research team to study how talk pages help editors improve articles. We learned that new editors who use talk pages make more edits to the main namespace than new editors who don't use talk pages.

Seven years ago this month, the Editing team offered the visual editor to most Wikipedia editors. Since then, editors have achieved many milestones:
- More than 50 million edits have been made using the visual editor on desktop.
- More than 2 million new articles have been created in the visual editor. More than 600,000 of these new articles were created during 2019.
- The visual editor is increasingly popular. The proportion of all edits made using the visual editor has increased every year since its introduction.
- In 2019, 35% of the edits by newcomers (logged-in editors with ≤99 edits) used the visual editor. This percentage has increased every year.
- Almost 5 million edits on the mobile site have been made with the visual editor. Most of these edits have been made since the Editing team started improving the mobile visual editor in 2018.
- On 17 November 2019, the first edit from outer space was made in the mobile visual editor. 🚀 👩🚀
- Editors have made more than 7 million edits in the 2017 wikitext editor, including starting 600,000 new articles in it. The 2017 wikitext editor is VisualEditor's built-in wikitext mode. You can enable it in your preferences.

Hi - thank you for moving this to draft. It's a translation from the German Wikipedia, with additional material that I've researched myself, so I hope it's acceptable/notable, especially as most of Professor Brieger's academic work was done in the English-speaking world (in Canada). Reply tool
The Reply tool has been available as a Beta Feature at the Arabic, Dutch, French and Hungarian Wikipedias since 31 March 2020. The first analysis showed positive results.
- More than 300 editors used the Reply tool at these four Wikipedias. They posted more than 7,400 replies during the study period.
- Of the people who posted a comment with the Reply tool, about 70% of them used the tool multiple times. About 60% of them used it on multiple days.
- Comments from Wikipedia editors are positive. ("I think the tool has a significant impact; it saves time to reply while the classic way is to move with a mouse to the Edit link to edit the section or the page which is generally far away from the comment. And the user reaches to the edit box so quickly to use the Reply tool.")[1]
The Editing team released the Reply tool as a Beta Feature at eight other Wikipedias in early August. Those Wikipedias are in the Chinese, Czech, Georgian, Serbian, Sorani Kurdish, Swedish, Catalan, and Korean languages. If you would like to use the Reply tool at your wiki, please tell User talk:Whatamidoing (WMF).
The Reply tool is still in active development. Per request from the Dutch Wikipedia and other editors, you will be able to customize the edit summary. (The default edit summary is "Reply".) A "ping" feature is available in the Reply tool's visual editing mode. This feature searches for usernames. Per request from the Arabic Wikipedia, each wiki will be able to set its own preferred symbol for pinging editors. Per request from editors at the Japanese and Hungarian Wikipedias, each wiki can define a preferred signature prefix in the page MediaWiki:Discussiontools-signature-prefix. For example, some languages omit spaces before signatures. Other communities want to add a dash or a non-breaking space.
New requirements for user signatures
- The new requirements for custom user signatures began on 6 July 2020. If you try to create a custom signature that does not meet the requirements, you will get an error message.
- Existing custom signatures that do not meet the new requirements will be unaffected temporarily. Eventually, all custom signatures will need to meet the new requirements. You can check your signature and see lists of active editors whose custom signatures need to be corrected. Volunteers have been contacting editors who need to change their custom signatures. If you need to change your custom signature, then please read the help page.
Next: New discussion tool
Next, the team will be working on a tool for quickly and easily starting a new discussion section to a talk page. To follow the development of this new tool, please put the New Discussion Tool project page on your watchlist.

Hello, I'm Dr Greg. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Mr. Bean, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Dr Greg talk 12:03, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
Categories
Your mass cat addition is confusing me. Can you explain how this applies when the cat itself says This category lists television programs that have regularly aired their first-run episodes on Pogo. It does not list programs which first appeared on a different network.
? Not only is this not applicable because the first run was on ABC, but it's not episodic. It's a special. There are many such instances of this that I can't begin to fathom how it applies to the articles you've added them to. Praxidicae (talk) 12:35, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
- What he said: how the hell can a channel started in 2004 be showing "first runs" of a series from 1973 (The Addams Family (1973 TV series)) or 1964 (The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends)? I am reversing all of these, and unless you can provide some evidence that Pogo had anything whatsoever to do with their original productions, they're staying reversed. --Calton | Talk 13:03, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
- Calton Thanks, I thought I was going crazy when I first started seeing this pop up on things like Barney and Friends. Praxidicae (talk) 13:04, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
- @ZI Jony: You've edited since I've left this message several minutes ago. You've had time to read it and I strongly suggest you do and respond here as you are required to do when using automated tools. - ZI Jony I'm sorry but this is not a satisfactory response. When using tools you are responsible for your edits. Screwing up a handful of times is one thing, doing it 207 times in a row without a care is disruptive. Praxidicae (talk) 13:13, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
- Praxidicae, YES, I'm responsible for my edits, but it is my first quick categories batch. Warm Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 13:17, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
- What exactly were you doing when you did this? Please explain the process that led to you making 207 rapid edits without actually reviewing any of them. Also you made 691 edits in 6 minutes on Wikidata yesterday...this is absurd. Praxidicae (talk) 13:18, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
- And let me be very clear in what I'm asking. What lead to you making 207 article edits, where did the data for that category come from? Praxidicae (talk) 13:21, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
- Praxidicae, I was looking List of programmes broadcast by Pogo and Category:Pogo (TV channel) original programming, when I saw that both are not matched then I was think about to run quick category. About Wikidata I'm ruing QS time to time, and ruing QS is not my hand. Warm Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 13:31, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
- Not to mention that several of the articles weren't even television programs (Film and Sherlock Holmes, to name but two). --Calton | Talk 13:28, 11 September 2020 (UTC)

- I don't even know how to respond to this at this point. You didn't bother to check if that was correct? And decided to use an automated tool en masse without doing any test trials on a small number of articles? There are only 7 articles on that page that are under original programming. Will you make a commitment to refrain from using automated tools/scripts until you can demonstrate competence and accountability for your use of said tools? NPP check in
Hey, I reviewed some of your recent patrols and wanted to share some feedback. Overall you're doing a good job, and I don't see any cases where I disagree outright with your decision to approve an article out of the queue. However, there's been a few cases where I think you neglected to add tags that probably should have been added. For instance, Stefan Gebhardt probably needs a {{third-party}} tag as almost the entire article is cited to Gebhardt's current party, Acts of Pilate could use {{more footnotes}} or possibly {{refimprove}}, as it includes entirely uncited paragraphs, and Kamao should probably have {{notability}} as it appears to only have one secondary reliable source cited. Overall, keep up the good work! signed, Rosguill talk 20:47, 12 September 2020 (UTC)
- Rosguill Thank you for your suggestions and valuable feedback, I've tagged as you suggested, and will try to make sure that in future itself. Warm Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 16:45, 13 September 2020 (UTC)

Edit filter false positive on Brace Belden article
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Edit_filter/False_positives/Rolling_archive#Blebaford
Hi, I am new to editing Wikipedia, so I hope this is the best place for this. You assessed the above linked issue as "vandalism," and I would like to request that you take a second look. In particular if you listen to the first few seconds of the podcast I think you'll see that it is an accurate contribution and not vandalism.
Judging from the other nicknames on the list, and their references, this edit seems perfectly in line, though we are admittedly having a little fun. Thanks!
-- Blebaford (I would have logged in, but I forgot my password and did too many failed attempts) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.132.173.81 (talk) 17:45, 26 October 2020 (UTC)
- There was vandalism! you can see this, someone has added those content, and one of RC patroller removed as vandalism. Warm Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 12:29, 27 October 2020 (UTC)
- Both that edit and mine gave sources which back up the claim that Racial Jake is a nickname for Brace Belden (in the YouTube video, Brace Belden uses RACIALJAKE for his name in Among Us). That makes two different sources backing this up as factual information -- I can think of one more, but it is a pay-walled episode. Is it possible that you and AngryHarpy are mistaken? Does it matter that there are two sources backing this up? Or do you disagree that the sources support the edits? Thanks. --Blebaford (talk) 14:11, 28 October 2020 (UTC)
- Blebaford, without reliable sources we could not add that info. Warm Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 15:06, 31 October 2020 (UTC)
- I see. Is this edit different from the other nicknames based on primary sources? (Mr. Bean, Showbiz, Mr. Fireworks, Bad Boy Brace Belden, The Dark Cowboy?) Does the requirement for secondary sources only apply to edits caught by the edit filter, or should we remove these other nicknames in order to be consistent? --Blebaford (talk) 13:48, 2 November 2020 (UTC)

Edit filter false positive on Brace Belden article
Hi, I wanted to follow up on our discussion here. You said my edit would have required reliable sources, while many other nicknames have been added without reliable sources. I was hoping to understand this policy, to see if some other nicknames should be removed for consistency. As it stands, the nicknames that I was unable to add are more prominent than many of those currently in the article, which seems misleading. I am happy to ask another editor, but I thought I should follow up with you since we were already in discussion. --Blebaford (talk) 23:40, 16 November 2020 (UTC)
- Blebaford, Please discuss on the article talk page, I don't have any problem if someone else accepts your request. I didn't feel that I can accept, so I reject that. Thanks for your understanding. Warm Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 14:42, 17 November 2020 (UTC)

1.) First of all, go to the Wikipedia of List of programs broadcast by Pogo. 2.) Then in current programming , you see written ""Titoo - Har Jawaab Ka Sawaal Hu"" in red colour ( because the article is not created ). 3.) Then please create the article.
I shall be very thankful to you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2401:4900:40CE:D214:0:2B:D21F:F201 (talk) 03:18, 30 November 2020 (UTC)

Private information from the Wikipedia Asian Month response form is accessible to the public
Considering the fact that we had to confirm that we read the Wikipedia Asian Month privacy policy, it would be nice if the private information we provide were not accessible to the public. I can clearly read everyone's home address and easily match them up with their private e-mail address using this linked form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSftK0OwA_f1ZVtCULlyi4bKU9w2Z7QfW4Y_1v9ltdTIFKFcXQ/viewanalytics Could you do something about that? --Nicholas0 (talk) 21:17, 3 January 2021 (UTC)

When you move a page over the top of a redirect that targets a different page, establishing a new WP:primary topic, as page-movers can now do due to the new delete-redirect right, please be sure to add a hatnote at the top of the new PT, as I did here. Also noting the previous discussion at Talk:Abbas Ibrahim (Lebanese officer)#Requested move 19 November 2020, I likely would have declined the technical request and converted it to an RM discussion. David Pramik Automatic Filter
Hey ZI Jony,
Could you please clarify how the automatic filter did not report a false positive? I'm having a hard time figuring out why fixing grammatical errors, updating a profile picture to a more recent recognizable photo and updating a reference at the request of an editor who mentioned a citation was needed, and updating a discography into a more easily legible table falls under disruptive editing. If you could clarify, that'd be great. Thanks.
- @HyphyHyphyJoyJoy:, You are saying that profile picture and updating a reference, but you also removed COI template which should not be happen. That's why filter 878 was stop you as "New user removing COI template". Warm Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 14:29, 9 April 2021 (UTC)
- Hey ZI Jony, The same filter is still blocking edits, despite not taking out the COI template. Could you please clarify why this is still occurring? Thanks HyphyHyphyJoyJoy (talk) 05:55, 12 April 2021 (UTC)

Soviet-Afghan War
Hi! You reverted my last edits [2], but did not provide an explanation. Can you give a reason why, and can you be specific which part, since the text had mutiple additions?--3E1I5S8B9RF7 (talk) 14:38, 30 April 2021 (UTC)
- @3E1I5S8B9RF7:, please see User talk:3E1I5S8B9RF7#April 2021. Warm Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 14:45, 30 April 2021 (UTC)
- I am afraid you haven't even checked that much what you reverted, since you even reverted my correction of spelling from "Bibiliography" to "Bibliography". You wrote: "...you should know that it is not a good idea to remove citations or information sourced through citations simply because a link to a source is not working, as you did to Soviet–Afghan War. Dead links should not be deleted. Instead, please repair or replace the link, if possible, and ensure properly sourced information is retained." Which dead links were removed? The sources in the said article are a mess, and thus I tried to organize them at least a bit; for example, the source "Coll, Steven (2004). Ghost Wars: The Secret History of the CIA..." is used twice in the text, even though it is already in the "Bibliography" section at the end. So I just changed it to { {sfn | Coll | 2004 | p=} }. The same goes for the source "Kepel, Gilles (2002), Jihad: The Trail of...", which was used over ten times in the text; I just changed it to { {sfn | Kepel | 2002 | p=} } How is that in dispute? Some of these references of Kepel included large quotes from his book, which I shortened by simply using the page number, i.e. { {sfn | Kepel | 2002 | p=138} }. Since the article in question is already very large, I did not see how using large quotes from a book is essential or necessary when you have a page number in the references which just gives a location of the said quote. It takes nothing away from verifiability, but improves the elegance of the sources.--3E1I5S8B9RF7 (talk) 13:37, 1 May 2021 (UTC)

.org /details /The _Soviet-Afghan _War _How _a _Superpower _Fought _and _Lost - Per page history you just removed content several times without any edit summary.
- Which dead links were removed? you removed archive
- I'd like suggest you to pay more attention in edit summary and specify what you have done and why, please see this for a example. It will avoid confusing with others. Warm Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 14:37, 1 May 2021 (UTC)
- That is not true. As visible here [3], I did not remove archive
.org /details /The _Soviet-Afghan _War _How _a _Superpower _Fought _and _Lost, I just changed it to {{sfn|Grau|Gress|2002|p=43}} with the book moved to the "Bibliography" section. I did not know about the necessity of adding an edit summary, yet you could have simply informed me about it, and I would have implemented it by writing "c/e" each time. I'd like to suggest you to pay more attention to what you revert, and to restore my previous edit, considering that you were unable to show any unreasonable disruption among my edits.--3E1I5S8B9RF7 (talk) 16:48, 1 May 2021 (UTC) - @3E1I5S8B9RF7:, sorry, there was a misunderstanding, which I've fixed now. No, you again made an error. Because you did not restore the book by Grau & Gress in the Bibliography section. Nor did you restore the "Kepel, Gilles (2006). Jihad: The Trail..." sfn reference. We again have Kepel's book being repeated almost ten times in the article when we can just use the sfn reference instead. Just restore the revert.--3E1I5S8B9RF7 (talk) 11:58, 2 May 2021 (UTC)

Team mate or teammate
Hi ZI, thank you for adding the hatnote to Baloot. I notice you changed team mate to teammate. In fact, teammate, team mate and team-mate are all listed as acceptable spellings in the Cambridge Dictionary. I think American English tends to prefer compound nouns more than other forms of English, but none is wrong. I don't intend to revert it, I was just passing on the information I found. Cheers.Bermicourt (talk) 07:37, 16 May 2021 (UTC)
- Hi Bermicourt, you are right, any one could be use, all three are acceptable spellings, I just fixed typos per AWB typos. Feel free to change teammate to team mate, but whence someone else will run AWB, again it will change! Warm Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 07:58, 16 May 2021 (UTC)

Abbreviation of Doctor of Philosophy preferred by Manual of Style
Hello ZI Jony,
I noticed that in your recent edits to the Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission article you changed five instances of "Ph.D" to "Ph.D.". My reading of MOS:Abbreviations#Abbreviations widely used in Wikipedia -- the portion of the table marked "Academic degrees, professional titles, etc., used with personal names" -- as well as the Doctor of Philosophy article itself indicates to me that the abbreviation that the Manual of Style prefers is "PhD" (no periods). Is your reading of the MOS different from mine? If you have no objection I will make the change to PhD in the Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission article unless you prefer to.

- Dieter.Meinertzhagen, all changes were done based on WP:AWB/T, if you make "Ph.D" AWB will change to "Ph.D." as it’s correct. But, if you make PhD per MOS, AWB will not change anything. Warm Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 23:29, 16 November 2021 (UTC)

WAM general info doesn't agree with rules
Hello: I'm curious why various WAM pages (such as Wikipedia:Asian_Month) said the event is to promote "the creation or improvement of the Wikipedia content about Asia," but the rules and Fountain only accommodated the creation of new articles. I worked on improving the existing article about Indian musician Debashish Bhattacharya, but when I asked about it over at Wikipedia:Wikipedia_Asian_Month/Submissions, my submission was rejected. Thanks! Peterh6658 (talk) 00:49, 4 December 2021 (UTC)
