For General information about drafts on Wikipedia, see Wikipedia:Draft.

Welcome to WikiProject Abandoned Drafts. Several Wikipedians have formed this collaboration resource and group dedicated to improving Wikipedia's use of article drafts kept in retired users' subpages and the organization of information and articles on this topic. This page and its subpages contain their suggestions and various resources; it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians interested in the topic. If you would like to help, please join the project, inquire on the talk page and see the to-do list below.

  • To better organize and work toward having userspace drafts of previously abandoned and uncreated articles eventually introduced into the mainspace.

Any drafts that are created by users who are deemed inactive, and which have no equivalent article in mainspace. Drafts can be in the following places:

This project also allows the donation of drafts from users who do not feel like they are up to finishing them or have lost interest in the subject of the draft.

  • Only move article drafts that have not been edited for a considerable period of time. They can be moved into the article namespace if they are worthy of publication, into the draft namespace or to your userspace if you intend to adopt them. Do not take drafts from active users. If the draft has been stale for an exceptional amount of time, however, feel free to leave a note on their talk page asking if they plan on finishing the draft. (The {{Uw-userspace draft finish}} may help.)
    • Before dealing with any draft, make sure there is no equivalent article already in the mainspace. If so, it may require a history merge (if the article was created as a copy-and-paste move from the draft) which can be requested or Wikipedia:Requests for history merge or it can be listed for deletion, usually per WP:UP#COPIES.
  • Make use of Wikipedia:Miscellany for Deletion to search for stale drafts that are put up for deletion. This area does not get a lot of participation, so please vote on entries. If a nominated entry is not voted on it defaults to keep, meaning it will not get out of this project.

New articles to be adopted[edit]

Please feel free to list your new Abandoned Drafts-related articles here (newer articles at the top, please), along with a short description of what work is necessary. If you would like to adopt one of these articles, please feel free to move them to your own subspace and please put remove them from here. Editors can also review Category:Userspace drafts created via the Article Wizard which goes back to October 2009.

  • Draft:Elope (business). I feel completely unqualified to write this article. I'm going to focus on editing and translating articles instead of creating them until I have a grasp for Wikipedia's encyclopedic style.
  • Draft:Teenage Hooker Became a Killing Machine. Just moved this out of my user space as I don't intend to work on it any further. Basically just an infobox and a list of external links which might be used as references. Some of the links are now dead but hopefully some of them have been archived. PC78 (talk) 16:24, 16 June 2016 (UTC)
  • User:Maplestrip/Quotative like *mdash; A mostly empty article I created quite a long while ago. I think the article could easily be expanded to something interesting, but... I somehow just can't do it. If someone feels like taking this on, feel free to ask me to format the sources in a better way or translate the Dutch source - I'd be happy to help out, but just can't get myself to work out the sources into prose text for some reason :s ~Mable (chat) 08:08, 1 March 2016 (UTC)
  • User:KraigWalker/Coming Out Simulator 2014 — this article has been stale for nearly a year (though I put in some edits a few months ago myself) and, though this is not the kind of article I enjoy working on myself, I feel that it has the potential to be expanded into a decent article using the sources present. ~Mable (chat) 22:42, 16 December 2015 (UTC)
  • Draft:2002 McDonald's All-American Boys Game and Draft:2003 McDonald's All-American Boys Game for bball fans. I moved the 2004 article to articlespace but these just require rosters and box scores, etc. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 00:09, 20 February 2015 (UTC)
  • User:Davidhof/sandbox/Justina Pelletier forced-hospitalization controversy. Justina Pelletier forced-hospitalization controversy. List of references is essentially complete (over 20 mostly non-overlapping published sources). Article outlined, and first sections written, some others summarised. Thanks to anyone who can adopt; I cannot return to in the foreseeable future.Davidhof (talk) 19:11, 16 November 2014 (UTC)
  • Spychips. This was content from an article on RFIDs which I salvaged when it was deleted and turned into a redirect. The plan is to turn it into an article about the book Spychips; the book is notable, having been reviewed up to the ying yang. I am retiring from Wikipedia, so can no longer pursue this. (I am not sure I placed it in the right place. If not, please move it.) Many thanks to anybody who adopts this. HairyWombat 18:32, 14 April 2014 (UTC)
  • Grouping some of mine together for one big submission: Whoop whoop pull up Bitching Betty | Averted crashes 20:09, 22 March 2014 (UTC)

**Draft:Renal portal system Needs a lot more references, and I don't think I'll have the time or energy to really work on it in the future. Whoop whoop pull up Bitching Betty | Averted crashes 20:09, 22 March 2014 (UTC)
