- Project News
- Due to coordinator Ecoleetage's retirement from Wikipedia, PC78 was appointed by the other coordinators to fill Ecoleetage's position. PC78 will serve the remainder of the term until it ends in March, when the next election will occur.
- Our project's newest department, the resources department, provides links to reliable sources for finding information about films. In addition, members can post their home media and print libraries to help other users in finding information in DVD special features, commentaries, books, etc. If you know of a reliable source that can be used for finding information for articles, please bring it up on the talk page of the department so it can be added. In addition, feel free to add your library if you are willing to help other users find information on our film articles. This department has the potential to help both new and experienced editors find additional sources and improve the quality of our articles.
- In order to reach as many participants as possible, the survey will remain open until February 14. If you have not already, please stop by and answer a few questions about your view on the project. Results will be posted shortly after the survey's conclusion.
- A discussion has been started to determine if the project should adopt C-class from the article assessment scale. Please stop by and contribute to the discussion as it will impact a large number of our articles.
- Our project now has 53,000 film-related articles, with 50,000 that have been assessed by our assessment department! A bot, discovering many film articles that have been missing the banner, has added the banner to almost 3,000 untagged articles. A forthcoming drive will focus on assessing these articles and reassessing our Stub and Start-class articles. Remember to always add the {{Film|class=}} template to a film article's talk page so the project can get a better idea of what work still needs to be done. Below is a table showing a breakdown of our articles by class.
- The lists for Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture – Drama and Golden Globe Award for Best Director – Motion Picture are currently candidates for featured list removal. New input from members of the project in addressing the raised issues can help these articles maintain their FL status.
- The Lost World: Jurassic Park was delisted from Good Article status after there no changes were made to the issues brought up in its GAR. Please help in addressing the issues so the article can return to its GA status.
- Spotlight Update: Multiple films and film-related articles have reached GA, GT, A, FL, and FA status in January 2009.
- Member News

- Remember that any editor can give the WikiProject Films Award to another WP:Films member. If you do present this award, please make mention of it here or tell one of the newsletter editors who will then include it in the next issue.
