California's 36th State Senate district is one of 40 California State Senate districts. It is currently represented by Republican Joel Anderson of Alpine.

2011 redistricting[edit]

After redistricting in 2011 by the California Citizens Redistricting Commission, the new district now includes 15.3% of Orange County and 15.4% of San Diego County. Cities in the district include Carlsbad, Mission Viejo, Oceanside, and San Clemente. The new district lines will take effect in the 2014 election.

Pat Bates is the only candidate in 2014.
