Orphaned non-free media (File:Onemissedcall2.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Onemissedcall2.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Katy[edit]

I have to say that I am deeply offended that you would just come in and decide to start changing everything around on articles that I, and other editors, have worked extremely hard on. I have never ever seen you once contribute to any of her articles, yet you come in and start removing genres and deciding which sources you decide you like. I am tired of people complaining about working together and discussing things when they themselves have never taken to the talk page to discuss any said changes. The source I provided was fine, yet you want to change it around so that it displays a genre that is only fully utilized on one song and influenced on a handful of others. That goes against what Wikipedia stands for. It doesn't fairly represent the whole album, while disco-pop, which was sourced, takes up a large portion of the album. You preach about reaching consensus yet you've never yourself taken to the talk page to discuss anything. As someone who is a major contributor to all her pages, I have to say that what you're doing is not helping her articles, but pigeonholing them to a a genre that is rarely used on the whole thing. So please, stop.--(CA)Giacobbe (talk) 21:19, 21 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The discussion I had with the user above me was about an influence for the song, I just linked it to electro house, because synthpop and synth rock both link to electropop and electro rock, respectively. I remember that disco-pop used to have it's own page, don't know how it got merged to nu-disco in all honesty. I just think it's unfair to classify Teenage Dream as pop-rock when nearly every reviewer noted how it moved away from that sound, and lots of reviews noted that it was disco, but none that I could find were specific enough to be listed as a genre until I found disco-pop. A quick look through of Allmusic shows that the Pop/Rock tag is given to generally any white pop singer, no matter what genre they actually make, that's why I'm having difficulties linking it because they just give a baseless classification of the genre, like how iTunes does. Yes, I hope to soon lol, I just need to find the time to go through the GA process first.--(CA)Giacobbe (talk) 21:34, 21 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Soclose.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Soclose.jpg.

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Just a polite reminder.[edit]

That if you have an account, then you should be using it for all your edits or declaring who you are in edit summaries. Not doing so is in violation, I am sure you know, of numerous policies and guidelines. In particular I refer to edits here which bears a striking similarity to the this edit summery here which after this edit here, it would imply that you are using an IP so as not to be in breach of WP:3RR. I am sure it was just a mistake on your part for not being logged in, sometimes I know one's browser logs oneself out. But just be careful, would hate for anyone to take them the wrong way. Look forward to working with an editor with so many good articles under their belt. MisterShiney 14:17, 10 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Godofgamblers.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Godofgamblers.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful.

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:17, 11 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Good Articles Recruitment Centre[edit]

Hello! Now, some of you might have already received a similar message a little while ago regarding the Recruitment Centre, so if you have, there is no need to read the rest of this. This message is directed to users who have reviewed over 15 Good article nominations and are not part of WikiProject Good articles (the first message I sent out went to only WikiProject members).

So for those who haven't heard about the Recruitment Centre yet, you may be wondering why there is a Good article icon with a bunch of stars around it (to the right). The answer? WikiProject Good articles will be launching a Recruitment Centre very soon! The centre will allow all users to be taught how to review Good article nominations by experts just like you! However, in order for the Recruitment Centre to open in the first place, we need some volunteers:

  • Recruiters: The main task of a recruiter is to teach users that have never reviewed a Good article nomination how to review one. To become a recruiter, all you have to do is meet this criteria. If we don't get at least 5-10 recruiters to start off with (at the time this message was sent out, 2 recruiters have volunteered), the Recruitment Centre will not open. If interested, make sure you meet the criteria, read the process and add your name to the list of recruiters. (One of the great things about being a recruiter is that there is no set requirement of what must be taught and when. Instead, all the content found in the process section is a guideline of the main points that should be addressed during a recruitment session...you can also take an entire different approach if you wish!) If you think you will not have the time to recruit any users at this time but are still interested in becoming a recruiter, you can still add your name to the list of recruiters but just fill in the "Status" parameter with "Not Available".
  • Co-Director: The current Director for the centre is me (Dom497). Another user that would be willing to help with some of the tasks would be helpful. Tasks include making sure recruiters are doing what they should be (teaching!), making sure all recruitments are archived correctly, updating pages as needed, answering any questions, and distributing the feedback form. If interested, please contact me (Dom497).
  • Nominators, please read this: If you are not interested in becoming a recruiter, you can still help. In some cases a nominator may have an issue with an "inexperienced" editor (the recruitee) reviewing one of their nominations. To minimize the chances of this happening, if you are fine with a recruitee reviewing one of your nominations under the supervision of the recruiter, please add your name to the list at the bottom of this page. By adding your name to this list, chances are that your nomination will be reviewed more quickly as the recruitee will be asked to choose a nomination from the list of nominators that are OK with them reviewing the article.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to seeing this program bring new reviewers to the Good article community and all the positive things it will bring along.

A message will be sent out to all recruiters regarding the date when the Recruitment Centre will open when it is determined. The message will also contain some further details to clarify things that may be a bit confusing.--Dom497 (talk)

Help with dispute[edit]

Could you please lend some of your experience to this dispute that was brought to ANI here?--v/r - TP 17:35, 30 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Noticed your edits to Dimensionaut. I have an issue with the article content found in the section "Promotion". In that section you will find the following:
"On June 24, 2013, the band announced its first major North American concert tour, consisting of sixteen shows between August and September 2013. They are expected to perform the entire Dimensionaut album live on tour. The "Bring The Prog Back" North American Tour, as the series of concerts has been called, is slated to feature guest appearances by several bands and musicians including Tom Brislin and Kasim Sulton."
My concern is that this content should be in the article on the band, but not in the article on the album because the tour hasn't been designated as an album promotional tour. There is nothing on the band's website, nor anywhere else on the internet or even on the band's promotional poster that says this tour is for album promotion. In fact, on the band's website, and even in the name of the tour, the purpose for the tour is to promote the genre, Progressive Rock ("Bring the Prog Back"), not the album Dimensionaut. A large number of other progressive rock bands will be playing on this multi-city tour along with Sound of Contact. That doesn't say album promotion to me. Even the reference attached to the content in the album article doesn't support the fact that the tour is about the album. Doesn't it stand to reason if the tour isn't about the album, the album article shouldn't give undue weight to the tour? The band's set list is supposed to be made up entirely of the songs on the album, so isn't a mention of this enough for this article? The way it's written now, it appears to be promotion and advertisement for the band and the tour, not encyclopedic content. Because of your knowledge of how album articles are to be written, I'd appreciate you looking into this. The dispute over the content in question has gone on too long, in my opinion. There is a discussion on the article talk page about the content dispute as well. -- Winkelvi 22:21, 1 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Constant changes within music album-related articles[edit]

Hello. We've noticed that you are constantly changing each and every Korean and Japanese music album articles (such as Nandacollection, Boys Meet U and Hero) over a period of days and it's clearly either spam or vandalism you are doing. Please give others a chance on contributing facts through the articles indicated as well as other articles as well. If this erasure and constant editing of articles removing and editing vital information we'll be taking actions regarding this. Thank you. 121.54.32.99 (talk) 00:04, 4 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. I am in the process of planning to get him banned from Wikipedia indefinitely. Why don't you get a life and grow up Andrzejbanas?! Question: You recently tagged several sources at Dimensionaut as unreliable self published sources. (seen here[1]) After reading the article on Reliable Sources and what's allowable, shouldn't the content associated with those sources be removed? Or does the content remain in the article with the tags attached? Thank you. -- Winkelvi 20:00, 5 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Outside opinion?[edit]

Hey, I was wondering if you help me out with an editor on the article Stars Dance. He's brand new so bare with me, but could tell me if "Gomez makes good on her promise of serving up dance music on her new album, out July 23." Would qualify the album to be counted as "dance"? Originally, I had just gone with what Allmusic said, it gave 3 genres (Electronic, garage house, and dubstep) which is generally enough. Does that statement qualify it to be included, or should it just be left at those 3. Thank you!--(CA)Giacobbe (talk) 16:47, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah it does help, thank you. He actually just got blocked yesterday for breaking the 3RR and I nearly reached my boiling point, especially since he constantly reverts large parts of the article to get to one small thing. If you ever have time, we're discussing it on the talk page right now, it'd be appreciated if you could swing by and explain it to him, since he refuses to listen to me.--(CA)Giacobbe (talk) 16:54, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Revived interest in Infernal Affairs[edit]

Invitation to participate in the poll for Infernal Affairs.

From your edits for the film Infernal Affairs there is presently a poll taking place on The Departed film Talk page regarding whether you believe a separate subsection should be included for (a) Infernal Affairs as a source for the plot of The Departed film, and/or (b) a second subsection for the recently captured crime figure Whitey Bulger as the source for the character played by Jack Nicholson in the film.

The recent capture of Bulger has revived the question from two years ago of Infernal Affairs from when it did have a separate subsection on The Departed film page which was deleted by User:RepublicanJ, now known as User:OldJ. Invite to visit The Departed Talk page, to the Bulger section at the end of the Page, to participate in the Poll currently taking place. 208.120.96.227 (talk) 11:04, 7 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Requesting your ideas[edit]

Hello A. I hope that you are well. I had a couple questions regarding our List of Eclipse releases article. First the EL now goes to a 404 error message. I thought I would let you update it as you see fit. Second, do you think we should make any mention of the fact that "Series 6: Carlos Saura's Flamenco Trilogy" is now Out of Print? It was a victim of the Studio Canal rights problem of (can it really be almost four years ago?) 2010. Again whatever your think best os fine with me. Cheers and enjoy the rest ot your weekend. Re: Big Fish[edit]

Andrzejbanas, is English your first language? I ask because there appears to be serious competence issues with your edits. Big Fish is not and never has been a "comedy" film. It is a fantasy adventure and all of the reliable sources make this clear. You were previously informed that the sources in the current article already discuss this fact, and there are of course, many more. The entire film is about a fantasy adventure and it is based on James Joyce's Ulysses and the Labors of Hercules, two of the most well known fantasy adventures. There is absolutely nothing based on "comedy" here at all. You removed the fact that the film is a fantasy from the lead for no reason.[2] You also removed the fact that this film is an adventure from the lead for no reason. These two facts are not even debatable. It appears that you have neither seen the film nor read the sources, which would explain why you keep adding "comedy" to the lead even when the very source you add does not support it. But, since you asked for yet-another-source, film critic and journalist Shea Conner (University of Iowa) wrote for the St. Joseph News-Press that "2004's "Big Fish," [is] an incredibly enchanting adventure that transcended his hermetically dark and quirky world." (October 5, 2012) Andrzejbanas, there is no reliable film critic who describes this as a comedy film. What you are doing is picking out categories from a website, not from reviews, and adding them to Wikipedia. That's not acceptable. Viriditas (talk) 04:19, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Andrzejbanas, you have not replied to my requests on the talk page for discussion. All you have done is revert and you've done so for specious reasons. You have claimed that the source you've added, Allmovie, is supported from WP:FILM. Actually, that is false. There is nothing at Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Film that supports your misuse of this poor source. In fact the source you keep adding does not call the film a comedy, it calls it a fantasy drama.[3] All you are doing is adding a genre category from a database. Furthermore, because they very source you've added calls it a fantasy, it makes no sense for you to keep removing the fact that it's a fantasy film from the lead. Viriditas (talk) 04:51, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Andrzejbanas, you've claimed that none of the sources call it a fantasy adventure. It is called both a fantasy and an adventure in the majority of reliable sources. I cannot find any reliable source that discusses "comedy" of any kind. The official movie poster on the front of the article page calls it an adventure, not a comedy, and every major review talks about it as a fantasy and your own source refers to it as a fantasy, yet you removed it. That doesn't make any sense. You've said on the talk page that "All the "fantastical" elements in the film are all from stories from the father, and not actual events. So how is it real?" I'm sorry, but that statement doesn't make any sense in English. Could you rephrase? Viriditas (talk) 04:55, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Andrzejbanas, you've pointed me to a film review by Gary Kramer in the free paper Gay City News as evidence that this is a comedy. I'm not sure this is what we would call a reliable source, but for the sake of an argument, let's say it is. Kramer doesn't discuss anything about comedy in this film, he just calls it a comedy. Most reviews do not. You also pointed me to Allmovie, which calls it a fantasy drama, not a comedy. You say that Empire calls it a comedy, but the link you've provided doesn't work. Can you please tell me what they say about comedy in the film? I've asked you this before with no response. You say that Bruce Cohen, the producer, was nominated for a Golden Globe in the category of comedy. However, the synopsis offered on the website clearly demonstrates it is not a comedy.[4] Furthermore, the Golden Globe routinely nominates people and films in the wrong category and this cannot be used as evidence for the categorization of a film genre this described by every major review in depth as a fantasy and an adventure. Viriditas (talk) 05:12, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I found a copy of at least one Empire review online,[5] and it describes it as a fantasy drama with adventure elements like 90% of all reliable reivews. Even a poor source like Entertainment Weekly, which blows you yoga-instructor authored Allmovie review out of the water, categorizes the film as "Drama, Sci-fi and Fantasy."[6] The number of reviews that describe this as a fantasy drama greatly outnumber the ones that call it a comedy. Viriditas (talk) 06:02, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I've added the EW review as it was written by Owen Gleiberman who is more notable and reliable than the unknown yoga instructor you keep citing. Please do not add it again. Viriditas (talk) 06:43, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Further, your cite of the Golden Globe nomination while ignoring its nomination for Best Fantasy Film at the Saturn Awards tells me you are cherry picking. Please notice, there is no discussion of any comedy whatsoever in this article nor any reliable source. Yet virtually every source discusses the nature of fairy tales, magical realism, fantasy, and storytelling. Viriditas (talk) 06:52, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I have found sources that do say comedy. I've shown them to you. BBC, Total Film. If you feel we must drop comedy, we can but I don't think it's a fantasy adventure either as all the fantasy imagery is not actually happening (they are exaggerated stories from the father) and the locations aren't exotic enough to make it an adventure film. Andrzejbanas (talk) 12:51, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Andrzejbanas, Waking Up in Vegas is definitely dance-rock song which has been sourced, but suddenly changed to dance-pop. I think User:Tbhotch won't allow non-admin users to editing any genre. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 183.171.179.102 (talk) 06:09, 14 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

DVD covers to posters[edit]

Hi, I noticed you just changed the image for Beau-père‎, and did this for Get Out Your Handkerchiefs a while ago. Thing is, the latter doesn't give a source for the image and the fair use rationale is for the DVD cover. Ribbet32 (talk) 13:43, 27 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Your comment "(no mention of avant-garde or experimental film making in Gance's End of the World.)"[edit]

You should read more carefully the article to which I provided the link: "Two scenes use the signature flutter cutting seen in other Abel Gance silent films. In the final World Government meeting scene, Gance distorts the images weirdly, as if the influence of the Comet were affecting our vision. The montages that haven't been altered are excellent..." This film was a lot more experimental in style before it was recut by its producers. It is still in the stylistic continuum that began with La Roue, and in fact, constituted the end of that pursuit in Gance's work at the time.Pinikadia 18:54, 18 December 2013 (UTC)

Pure Herion[edit]

Hey I saw that in your last edit to pure herion you said that the genre was pop when it specificaly says, "The 16-year-old art-pop sensation" that is good to have art pop listed, as the genre. Requests for mediation/Pure Heroine[edit]

I filed a request for medation if you care to comment.(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Requests_for_mediation/Pure_Heroine)--Fruitloop11 (talk) 01:06, 7 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Formal mediation has been requested[edit]

The Mediation Committee has received a request for formal mediation of the dispute relating to "Pure Heroine". As an editor concerned in this dispute, you are invited to participate in the mediation. Mediation is a voluntary process which resolves a dispute over article content by facilitation, consensus-building, and compromise among the involved editors. After reviewing the request page, the formal mediation policy, and the guide to formal mediation, please indicate in the "party agreement" section whether you agree to participate. Because requests must be responded to by the Mediation Committee within seven days, please respond to the request by 14 February 2014.

Discussion relating to the mediation request is welcome at the case talk page. Thank you.

Gabriel Axel date and place of death[edit]

Sorry to be pedantic, but your previous edit about the date of death was rather sloppy. The date was mentioned three places, you only changed two of them, and in once case you left the article saying he died "on 2014". Now there's the problem about the place of death. The only sources I've found that say he died in Bagsværd are Danish and French. But I'm glad you're interested in Gabriel Axel. RenniePet (talk) 12:03, 12 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your message on my talk page. I'm afraid my "wiki skills" are not all that good. I've been around on Wikipedia for a long time but after the first year I've been only slightly active in fits and starts. Also, I can now see I was wrong in implying there are no English sources that say Mr. Axel died in Bagsværd, there are several based on AFP (Agence France Presse), you can find them with a Google search for "gabriel axel bagsværd". As for French references, there's a really nice obituary here http://www.lemonde.fr/disparitions/article/2014/02/10/mort-de-gabriel-axel-premier-oscar-danois_4363819_3382.html Since your wiki skills and experience are much, much better than mine I'll leave it up to you now, if you have the time and motifation, thanks. Warning 3RR[edit]

Stop icon

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. Batiste Igienice (talk) 18:11, 17 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It's not actually against the 3RR rule when you are reverting vandalism and a user is ignoring the talk page. Andrzejbanas (talk) 18:13, 17 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Stop icon with clock
You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours for edit warring and violating the three-revert rule, as you did at Emperor discography. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}. However, you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.  Bbb23 (talk) 18:49, 17 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Hello. I believe under the rules for WP:3RR, I was exempt from the 3RR rule as reverting vandalism is not part of the 3RR. As seen on the edit history for the article in question, I was trying to convince the user that these edits can't be used per WP:RS and as shown on the talk page here, I had previously tried to engage the user to discuss edits. Looking at the user's talk page I see that they've been warned for similar violations before and I figured this was just going after a vandal who did not explain their edits. Can you show me where I may have gone wrong? :)

Regardless, I'm still in conversation on several talk pages including this one, this one, and others that I would like to contribute to and this band prevents me from doing so. If that's not reasonable, than there's no problem and I accept my 24 hold. Have a good day! :) Andrzejbanas (talk) 20:14, 17 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Edit: Just as a second note, don't you have to receive a warning on your 3RR before being posted? I was not mentioned on it. Not trying to pick and poke, just thought it was a normal regulation. I posted one here, but never received one on my own. Andrzejbanas (talk) 20:18, 17 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Only very obvious vandalism is exempted from 3RR, what you were reverting wasn't vandalism. As of warnings, they are needed to avoid blocking people who don't know about rules. You reported your opponent to edit warring noticeboard, which indicates that you knew about 3RR. Max Semenik (talk) 20:42, 17 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

The vandalism exemption is intended for obvious vandalism, the kind of edits that you would legitimately take to WP:AIV if they were persistent ("Reverting obvious vandalism—edits that any well-intentioned user would agree constitute vandalism, such as page blanking and adding offensive language."). You were effectively in a content dispute where you diagreed with the quality of the sources the other editor was using. Their reverts in inserting that material does not constitute vandalism. Honestly, I would have preferred not to block you because I felt based on your comments that you were trying to edit constructively, but it's very hard to ignore seven reverts, particularly when you've filed a report against the other editor and I'm blocking them as well.--Bbb23 (talk) 20:36, 17 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Request for mediation accepted[edit]

The request for formal mediation of the dispute concerning Pure Heroine, in which you were listed as a party, has been accepted by the Mediation Committee. The case will be assigned to an active mediator within two weeks, and mediation proceedings should begin shortly thereafter. Proceedings will begin at the case information page, Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/Pure Heroine, so please add this to your watchlist. Formal mediation is governed by the Mediation Committee and its Policy. The Policy, and especially the first two sections of the "Mediation" section, should be read if you have never participated in formal mediation. For a short guide to accepted cases, see the "Accepted requests" section of the Guide to formal mediation. You may also want to familiarise yourself with the internal Procedures of the Committee.

As mediation proceedings begin, be aware that formal mediation can only be successful if every participant approaches discussion in a professional and civil way, and is completely prepared to compromise. Please contact the Committee if anything is unclear.

Using Allmusic as source[edit]

Ok I have a few questions:

1- Why is not allowed to use Allmusic as a source for genre? I just don't get what's wrong with it since is a musical website? 2- What if in the review of some album or singer/band they talk more about the music style?

Thank you :) --200.8.19.55 (talk) 03:56, 19 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
